112.
Speaking in a Facebook Live broadcast, Afunika explained that the video which surfaced yesterday was recorded six months ago during his first-ever visit to the church. He clarified that he did not seek out the prophet for spiritual guidance, but had simply accompanied his wife, who insisted on attending the service despite being unwell.

 122.
“My wife had been wanting to visit that church, but every time the prophet was in Chingola, she would fall sick,” Afunika said. “This time, even though she wasn’t feeling well, she insisted on going.”

 123.
Afunika, best known for his hit “Piki Piki Skirt,” shared that he dropped his wife at the service and returned home. However, around 2 AM, he received a phone call inviting him to the church. He was asked to bring along one of his music CDs.

 144.
“I’m not saying everything he said is true, but that’s what I was told. God can reveal things in unexpected ways,” he added.

 145.
The artist also questioned the motive behind the sudden circulation of the video, especially since he has an upcoming concert that has received little attention from the same bloggers who are now sharing the prophecy.

 146.
“There’s nothing wrong with going to church,” he said. “But I wonder why people are more focused on that moment than on what I’m doing next in my career.”

 1196.
The case is being heard by Judge Mzonde Mvula, who is currently reviewing an application from the Bushiris’ lawyers challenging an earlier decision by High Court Judge Madalitso Chimwaza.

 1206.
Judge Chimwaza had suspended her ruling for 30 days after determining that there was sufficient evidence for the Bushiris to answer three of the ten charges against them, including three rape complaints against Prophet Bushiri and two other offences involving both him and his wife.

 1207.
Defense lawyer Wapona Kita argued that the lower court’s ruling was flawed and should be dismissed, noting that the state had failed to submit its grounds for the review, denying the defense a fair chance to respond.

 1228.
The defense is seeking a stay to allow them to apply for bail and to appeal the ruling.
