67.

A man wielding a sword went on the attack in London early Tuesday, killing a 14-year-old boy and injuring at least four others, including two cops, after first driving a van into a house, according to authorities.

 68.
Shocking images show the unidentified suspect in a yellow hoodie holding the terrifying-looking weapon around 7 a.m. while walking through a street near Hainault Tube station in north-east London.

 69.
He was “running around with a samurai sword. Another heard a woman’s terrifying scream and then “the words, ‘he’s got a massive knife,’ or ‘he’s got a massive sword.’”

 70.
The first people stabbed were at a house where the suspect crashed his van into, according to cops, who did not elaborate on whether the property or its occupants were deliberately targeted.

 71.
The suspect “went on to attack other members of the public and two police officers,” said a rep for the police force.

 72.
Stuart Bell, the chief superintendent of London’s Metropolitan Police, later announced “with great sadness” that a 14-year-old boy had died from his injuries.

 73.
“He was taken to hospital after being stabbed and sadly died a short while after,” Bell said, sending thoughts to the boy’s family “at this unimaginably difficult time.”

 74.
“The events of this morning are truly horrific and I cannot begin to imagine how all those affected must be feeling.”

 75.
The other four people stabbed, including two cops, are in local hospitals but “thankfully their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening,” Bell said.

 76.
A 36-year-old man was Tased and arrested at the scene, police said without identifying him.

 77.
“We are not looking for more suspects,’’ Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said. ”This incident does not appear to be terror-related.”

 78.
The top cop acknowledged the shock and alarm” the attacks sparked, saying: “This must have been a terrifying incident for those concerned.”

 79.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was “absolutely devastated” by the attack, while stating that additional cops will patrol the area.

 80.
“The police officers and emergency services showed the best of our city — running towards danger to protect others and I thank them from the bottom of my heart,” he said.

 81.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called it a “shocking incident” and said that “such violence has no place on our streets.”

 318.
This has been disclosed by the general manager for the company Maclean Debwe at Ngala Lakeland school camp where the company donated 4000 bags of maize floor worth K220 million to flood victims.

 319.
Debwe emphasized that the company’s business growth should come together with the lives of communities in the area as the floods have made many people homeless in the district.

 320.
He further said that they are not sure if the loss will affect the sugar production this year.

 321.
Meanwhile, the relief and rehabilitation officer for Nkhotakota district council, John Manda said the development has come in time as the victims are finding it difficult to have their daily necessities.

 322.
“People are suffering here and we are appealing to authorities to help relocate the victims so that the people can resume their normal lives and be productive again” Manda said.

 323.
Over 580 households are currently residing at two camps in the district

 507.

Police in Ntcheu have arrested Cosmas Phalula, 32, and Henderson Malunga, 28, for impersonating a police officer and giving false information respectively.

 508.
Public Relations Officer for Ntcheu Police Station, Jacob Khembo said on April 11, 2024, the duo connived, where the first suspect posed as Sergeant Phiri and his accomplice as a suspect detained at Tsangano Roadblock on allegation that he was found with property without documents.

 509.
They called Pastor Simeon, a resident of Area 25 in Lilongwe, who is also a relative to Malunga, telling him to send K45,000 so that he should be released from police detention, which the pastor did.

 510.
Their phone numbers were unreachable for some days and this prompted the pastor to report to Lilongwe Police, claiming that his relative went missing while in the hands of police.

 511.
The pastor also reported the matter to the Independent Complaints Commission (ICC).

 512.
The ICC made a follow up with Ntcheu Police on the incident and the Intelligence Unit of the police launched investigations, leading to the arrest of the two.

 513.
“The duo admitted to have connived so that they get money from their relative which could have been a problem if normally requested,” said Khembo.

 514.
The two will appear before court soon to answer charges of impersonation and giving false information respectively.

 515.
Phalula hails from James Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Makwangwala in Ntcheu while Malunga is from Singano Village, TA Kuntaja in Blantyre.
