70.

As part of MPCA’s strategic plan, member organizations came together to support the exploration of a collaboratively selected and supported electronic health record (EHR) and revenue cycle technology ecosystem. The goal of the exploration is to identify a strategic EHR partner to negotiate more sustainable product pricing and position for stronger vendor support, increase available EHR resources and in-state assistance, and improve EHR-related sharing between health centers.

 71.
MPCA has developed an exploratory process that will first identify member priorities for the collaborative EHR, second leverage an early request for information to define possible EHR partners, and third utilize a formal request for proposal to narrow those possible partners to a final selection. We’re aiming to conclude the exploration and selection phase by January 2025 and subsequently move into the implementation phase. Throughout the process, there will be four formal opportunities for all members to participate in the exploratory and selection efforts including as part of the final selection (in addition to a variety of less formal updates and discussions along the way).

 72.
Today, we’re opening an opportunity to serve on the steering committee for the exploration and selection phase of the project. We’re hoping to recruit a group of representatives from MPCA member organizations to guide this work as it moves forward!

 73.
Those interested in joining the steering committee will be asked to commit to the following:

 74.

 75.
Join an initial steering committee meeting on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM

 76.
Participate in monthly committee meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10:00 – 11:30 AM from June to December 2024

 77.
Participate in 4 full membership engagement sessions designed to keep all members apprised of the apprised of the status of the exploratory and selection phase and offer opportunities for all members to weigh in (May, July, September, November)

 78.
Conduct detailed review and comment on the following key documents that will be used in the pursuit of this procurement:
 79.

 80.
Health Center Environmental Scan / Priority Identification Survey (Late May, Early June)

 81.
Request for Information (Late June)

 82.
Priority Matrix for Scoring / Selection (Mid to Late July)

 83.
Request for Proposal (Early August)

 84.

 85.

 86.
Review vendor responses to the RFI (August) and RFP (October) and provide feedback according to committee-established scoring and selection tools

 87.
Attend and participate in face-to-face meetings with final selected vendors and validation of scoring to identify proposed vendors (2 days in October or November)

 88.

 89.
MPCA is looking to incorporate many perspectives in the steering committee, from organizational leaders to staff from a variety of backgrounds who are daily users of EHR and revenue cycle technologies. The committee will include 15 people who are broadly representative of all members in terms of organization size, geography, current technologies used, and more. (Committee participation will be limited to one representative from each member organization to ensure as many organizations as possible can serve.)

 90.
If you are interested in serving on the Steering Committee (or know someone who would make a good addition to the committee), please submit an application by COB on May 3, 2024.

 167.

March is Kidney Month, and the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is on a mission to raise awareness about kidney disease and the risks associated with it. Did you know that over a million Michigan adults have chronic kidney disease, and most don’t know it?

 168.
The “Are You The 33%?” campaign aims to shed light on the fact that 33% of adults in the United States are at risk for kidney disease – that’s 1 in every 3 people. Early detection is crucial.

 169.
Here are some ways to act now:
170. 1. Visit NKFM’s Kidney Disease page to learn more about the risks and facts.
171. 2. Take the Kidney Risk quiz to find out if you are in the 33%.
172. 3. Share your quiz results with your doctor and ask about getting tested with a simple urine and blood test.
173. 4. Spread the word to family and friends.

 174.
Together, we can make a difference! Knowledge is power, and early detection can save lives.
175. Check out updated resources and learn more about how you can contribute to this important cause at nkfm.org/areyouthe33.

 176.
Thank you for joining us in the fight against kidney disease!

 188.

The Michigan Primary Care Association has established group purchasing arrangements with our endorsed business partners for the benefit of our member health centers. Our endorsed business partner Voyce offers MPCA members discounted pricing for best-in-class on-demand audio and video interpretation services that are accessible from virtually any device connected to the internet–phone, tablet, laptop, etc.–and can even integrate directly with some practice management systems.

 189.
Voyce recently published a case study on Cherry Health’s implementation of their interpretation services. In an effort to remove barriers, expand access, and deliver comprehensive quality healthcare services to underserved communities in Michigan, Cherry Health launched the service in 10 units, including the emergency department. Feedback collected during the pilot was overwhelmingly positive from all users involved and identified no significant barriers. Cherry Health chose to move forward with full implementation of Voyce technology in all 80 units at 21 locations across Michigan.

 190.
Voyce will soon be rolling out a website update that will have a landing page built specifically for health centers.
