Chelsea has agreed on intimate terms with defender Marc Cucurella, meaning that just signing the contract and medicals must still occur before a formal announcement is made. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Glen Johnson, an ex-Liverpool defender, has explained why Manchester City defeated his old <a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/phil-foden-wins-the-pfa-young-player-of-the-year-award-yet-again">side</a> to the Premier League title last season.
Johnson appeared in 160 games for Liverpool between 2009 and 2015, and was a vital cornerstone of the Reds’ defence throughout his time at Anfield. He was also the team’s right-back during the infamous 2013/2014 title race, which they lost to the blue side of Manchester.
In a recent interview with Genting Casino, the 37 year-old was asked what he thinks his old side need to do to close the gap on City. He said:
‘Liverpool didn’t do much wrong last season. It’s just unfortunate they are up against City at the moment.’
Johnson is certainly correct in the fact that the Merseyside club can’t do much more.
The 92 points they gained as runners-up last campaign would have seen them win the <a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/pep-to-replace-gundogan-with-napolis-midfielder-fabian-ruiz">Premier</a> League in 23 of the last 30 years, which portrays the incredibly high level both City and Liverpool are playing at.
Johnson went on to emphasise this point, stating: ‘I can’t say where they have to improve but they just have to lose one less game.’

Frenkie De Jong is closing on a move to <a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/">Manchester United</a>, while Ruiz, given his La Liga experience and contract situation with Napoli, could prove a cheap replacement for Barca. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Phil Foden has won the PFA Young Player of the Year award for the second year in a row after playing a key role in Manchester City’s Premier League title win.
Foden, 22, had nine goals and five assists as <a href="http://eurosoccerclub.net/">City</a> won their fourth championship in five seasons under manager Pep Guardiola.
Conor Gallagher, who performed for Crystal Palace while on loan from Chelsea, Reece James, also of Chelsea, Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were all nominated for the award.
Foden joins Ryan Giggs, Rob Fowler, Wayne Rooney, Dele Alli, and Lauren Hemp as the sixth player to win the PFA Young Player of the Year award back-to-back.
Alli was the last player to claim the prize in consecutive seasons having achieved the feat in 2017!
“I’m really honoured to be honest, especially to win it back-to-back, it shows that I’ve come a long way this year with the <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jun/10/elano-football-coaching-brazil-fourth-tier-manchester-city">consistency</a> of my game, and I’m really pleased to win it again,” Foden said.
“All the best players in the world have got to show consistency and keep performing at the higher level, and this year I’ve just tried to do that and try and help my team as much as possible – I’ve been really happy with my performances this year.
“Hopefully I can win the main award in the future, but it’s all about taking small steps and improving. I always love winning individual awards, it’s just nice to look at and see how far you’ve come so, yeah, I’m really pleased.”
Foden is one of the most adaptable players at the Etihad, and his key goals against Brentford and Everton demonstrated how important he can be for both club and country.
Last month, he was crowned Premier League <a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/isco-announces-his-departure-from-real-madrid">Young</a> Player of the Season.

The 30-year-old will leave the club he joined from <a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/real-betis-copa-del-rey-champions">Malaga</a> in the summer of 2013 after making 352 appearances in which he scored 53 goals, although he had lost his place in the starting line-up in recent seasons, as highlighted by the fact he didn’t play a single minute of Real Madrid’s Champions League win over Liverpool on Saturday night.
Isco is not the only player who will leave Real Madrid this summer, with Brazilian left-back Marcelo confirming during the club’s celebrations on Sunday night that he too had played his last match for the club.
Isco, 30, was sparingly used by manager <a href="http://area-football.com">Carlo Ancelotti</a> in the 2021-22 season, playing only 17 times in all competitions. 
“After nine years I finish my journey at Real Madrid, a club that has made it possible for me to fulfil all the dreams I had as a kid,” Isco wrote on Instagram. 
“Apart from fulfilling dreams, winning more titles than I had ever imagined, playing with the greatest players, meeting incredible people – I have had the best time… See you always and Hala Madrid.”
He began his career at Valencia, playing mainly in its reserve team, before joining Malaga in 2011. His performances at Malaga earned him the Golden Boy award in 2012 and a 30 million euros move to Real Madrid in June 2013, with whom he has won 19 major trophies, including five UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and four FIFA Club World Cup titles.
Ancelotti’s first signing in 2013
On 26 June 2013, <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10868209/Real-Madrid-not-told-no-Isco-announces-departure-Bernebau.html">Real Madrid</a> president Florentino Perez confirmed that a deal had been reached with the player and that he would be presented by the club next week once he passed his medical; the following day, he signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid paying 30 million euros for his services, thus becoming the first signing of newly appointed manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Following his move to Real Madrid, manager Carlo Ancelotti played him in a deep-lying playmaker role requiring more sacrifice and defensive duties than his natural position. He has also been deployed as a winger on occasion.
A quick, skilful and creative player with excellent technique and ball control, Isco is known for his natural ability to pick out an inch-perfect pass, dribble effortlessly through two or three challenges or drift a shot into the top corner of the goal. His most common traits are his one-step-ahead reading of the game, his anticipation of space, and the general directing of his side’s performances. He has also been known to take free-kicks.

The fallout has been rumoured to suggest Premier League winners Manchester City could look to sell Sterling in the near future, with the player heavily linked to a move to Spanish giants <a href="http://eurosoccerclub.net">Barcelona</a> in recent weeks. Arsenal and Tottenham have been strongly linked with moves for Sterling, with Barcelona also have expressed an interest. While reports during the summer claimed that Barcelona officials were in Manchester to discuss an agreement with Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani following Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, Spanish publication Sport claims they were in town to talk to Raheem Sterling about a potential move to Spain.
Spanish outlet Sport claims that Barcelona is still in solid communication with Sterling’s camp following their failed summer move, with an option of signing him remaining on the table come January. The main issue will be whether or not City would allow him to leave on loan during the summer, with his current deal set to end in 2023. A Sterling has delayed talks about signing a contract until next month once the England Uefa Nations League fixtures are over. According to 90 Minutes Graham Baillie, Raheem Sterling is set to tell Manchester City about his desire to return the LaLiga giant’s long-standing interest by joining the club in the summer. It is expected to be a similar story next season. <content:encoded><![CDATA[Paulo Dybala’s emotions got the best of him on Monday, as the long-serving Juventus forward sobbed as he bid farewell to the Turin faithful.
Sergej Milinkovic-stoppage-time Savic’s goal earned Lazio a thrilling 2-2 draw against Juventus in Serie A on Monday, securing the Rome club’s place in next season’s Europa League and overshadowing Giorgio Chiellini and Paulo Dybala’s goodbye.
Already secured of fourth place this season, <a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/premier-league-21-22-golden-boot-race">Juventus</a> could take the game to Lazio with the burden off after rushing into a 10th-minute lead thanks to Dusan Vlahovic’s soaring header.
Dybala was honoured after the game with Giorgio Chiellini, and the 28-year-old Argentine couldn’t contain his emotions as he was greeted by fans.
He also won the Coppa Italia on four occasions and also played in the Juve’s Champions League final defeat in 2017.
<h3>Dybala speaks</h3>
“It is difficult to find the right words to greet you,” Dybala addressed fans in a statement posted to his social media platforms. “There are so many years and so many emotions involved altogether. I thought we would be together [for] even more years, but fate puts us on different paths.”
“I will never forget everything you made me experience, every game, every goal. With you, I grew up, I learned, I lived and I dreamed. It was seven years of magic, 12 trophies and 115 goals that no one will take away from us, never.”
“Thank you for supporting me in difficult times. <a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/real-betis-copa-del-rey-champions">Thanks</a> to those who have accompanied me over the years, from the first to the last, from the fans to the people who work within the club, everyone, [from] coaches and teammates, employees and managers,” he added.
“Wearing this important jersey together with the <a href="http://acfootballtours.com/">captain’s</a> armband has been one of the greatest [moments of] pride of my life, which I hope to show to my children and grandchildren someday.
“Tomorrow will be my last match with this shirt. It’s hard to imagine, but it will be our last farewell. It will not be easy, but I will enter the field with a smile and with my head held high, knowing that I have given everything for you,” the 28-year-old added.
<h3>Need to be better – Allegri</h3>
There was a late twist in the game, as Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored with the game’s final kick, securing a top-six finish. Maurizio Sarri’s side has moved four points clear of seventh-placed Fiorentina, who lost 4-1 at Sampdoria on Monday.
La Viola will face Juve in the season’s last <a href="https://www.juvefc.com/allegri-confirms-who-will-be-the-juventus-captain-next-season/">round</a> on Sunday.
“Tonight was a wonderful evening, full of emotions,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia after the game. “The evening of Chiellini and Dybala. A few videos of Chiellini should be sent to our training ground to show how he applies himself.”
“Dybala was an important player for seven years,” the manager added. “The fans gave him a well-deserved tribute. It would have been nice to finish with a win for them, but tonight’s game sums up our year. We need to get used to winning again.”

Let’s face it, we have all had our own opinions on Cristiano Ronaldo and his second spell with Manchester United, with many of us having written him off before he even pulled the jersey back on.
Naturally, CR7 has shown all of us not to count all of our eggs before they hatch, as he has been incredibly effective once again. He has 18 goals this season, with the one he netted against Brentford making him the <a href="https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/cristiano-ronaldo-leads-way-for-home-goals-in-premier-league">leader for all goals scored at home</a> by a single player this season.

<a href="https://www.espn.in/football/report/_/gameId/632712">Manuel Pellegrini’s</a> side were the better team throughout the 120 minutes and were fully deserving of their victory, as the club lifted their first piece of silverware since 2005.
<a href="http://eurosoccerclub.net">Borja Iglesias</a> had given Betis the lead in the 11th minute, his bullet header from Hector Bellerin’s cross leaving goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili with no chance.
In a classic free-flowing encounter full of goal-scoring chances and remarkable saves, it was hard to separate the two sides who maintained a frantic pace throughout the 120 minutes.
Yunus Musah missed Valencia’s fourth spot-kick to give Betis a 5-4 win on penalties. Earlier, Hugo Duro’s 30th-minute goal had cancelled out Borja Iglesias’ opener for Betis.
<a href="https://copadelmarsoccer.com/match-preview-italy-vs-north-macedonia">Real Betis’</a> breathtaking win in their Seville hometown secured them their first major trophy since they won the same title in 2005.
It was a well-fought clash of styles between Betis’s possession-based, attacking mentality and Valencia’s solid defensive block and vertical speedy transitions on the counter-attack.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side dominated possession with Copa del Rey top goal scorer and final’s MVP Borja Iglesias as the main threat. Still, Valencia were a constant menace to their opponents on the counter-attack with Hugo Duro creating all kinds of trouble to Betis’ defence.
“To win this title after so many years at our town and in front our fans is a wonderful thing,” captain Joaquin told reporters in tears before lifting the trophy and becoming the first player to win two titles with Betis’ colours as he was in the field 17 years ago.
“I think it is the work of many years, of getting things little by little, building from a lot of effort. Congratulations to Valencia because if they had won they would be deserved winners, it was an amazing game.”
The 40-year-old Joaquin announced last November that this would be his final season after 21 consecutive years of top-flight football and will leave after helping his beloved Betis to win only their fourth title as they have only won the 1935 League, the 1977 Cup and the aforementioned 2005 Cup in their 115-year history.
It was also the first major trophy for Manuel Pellegrini in Spain, Intertoto Cup aside, who has now won honours in every country he has managed in apart from China.
Betis hit the post twice, and would have been livid that they could not secure a victory before spot-kicks decided the outcome. 
French forward Nabil Fekir was also on the pitch for Betis. He was part of France’s World Cup-winning squad of 2018 and has often been linked to a move to the Premier League.
