  44. <p>Big Law higher education practices are being showered with inquiries from university clients and others about campus protests across the country. While law firm partners said they’ve had similar upticks in inquiries related to the COVID-19 pandemic, there’s a new level of “urgency” from client calls lately.<em><strong> </strong></em></p>
  45. <p>Partners say they are counseling colleges and universities about student speech, anti-discrimination, government inquiries and investigations, data privacy, civil liabilities and student conduct, among other things. That’s not to mention a string of lawsuits filed over protests.</p>

  194. <p>A state appellate court in Florida granted a petition for a writ of prohibition to disqualify a Miami trial judge accused of displaying undue bias, preemptively limiting a defendant’s ability to present his case, and exhibiting behavior interpreted as advocacy for the plaintiff.</p>

  378. <p>The competing sanctions motions stem from the deposition of a former Kline &amp; Specter client who had joined Bosworth at this new firm after he split from Kline &amp; Specter in late 2022.</p>

  1416. <p>Ten more counties in North Carolina officially switched from paper to electronic filing this week as Enterprise Justice (Odyssey) continues its rollout of the state’s cloud-hosted digital case management system, bringing access to a total of 27 counties and nearly half of the state’s population.</p>
  1417. <p>As more and more counties come online, litigation over alleged technical glitches remains pending in a class action lawsuit filed against county sheriffs, court administrators, and the software programmer in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. In their lawsuit, the plaintiffs claim they experienced arrest or detention issues due to software defects.</p>
