Electricity prices will be revised four times every year, the electricity department said.</p><p>State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told reporters last February that electricity is sold at a lower price than the cost of production. Prices are being adjusted to meet the shortage. The prices will be adjusted in a phased manner over the next three years.</p><p>As part of this, the government increased the price of electricity once in March. According to PDB sources, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) incurred a loss of Tk 43,539 crore by selling electricity in the financial year 2022-23. The government has to allocate 39 thousand 534 crores of subsidy in that financial year. The average wholesale price of electricity per unit is 7 taka 4 paisa. However, if the subsidy is withdrawn following the advice of the IMF, this rate will have to be raised above 12 rupees. In that case, the average price of electricity at the consumer level will be around 15 taka, which is now 8 taka 95 paisa.</p><p>Earlier, electricity prices were increased three times in three months from January to March last year. Today, Friday (May 3), the admission test will be held for students who have passed the humanities department in B Unit. A total of 94 thousand 931 candidates will participate in the batch admission test in B unit.</p><p>It is informed by the GST Integrated Admission Committee that for the smooth completion of the admission test, question papers have been sent to the universities under the Jessore University of Science and Technology (Yabiprabi) cluster, maintaining strict security and confidentiality. Admission test will be held today from 11 AM to 12 PM for students applying from Humanities Department in B Unit. However, students have been instructed to reach the respective center one hour before the commencement of the examination to complete other formalities related to the admission test. The admission test of this unit was held on April 27. The results of this unit have also been published. Meanwhile, the much-awaited rain has fallen in Old Dhaka today. But it did not last long. A little before nine o’clock tonight, it rained for a few minutes with a cold wind. Many people were disappointed as this brief rain brought relief but did not last long.</p><p>Several residents of Old Dhaka’s Laxmibazar, Jatrabari, Demra, Shanir Akhra areas reported rain. A housewife from Jatrabari area told Prothom Alo that lightning flashes in the sky after 8:30 pm. A few minutes later it rained. Thomas had breached anti-corruption laws in franchise leagues in Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and the West Indies.</p><p>The 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman has already confessed to the crime. Thomas, who played 1 Test, 21 ODIs and 12 T20Is for West Indies, last played an international match in December 2022. One hundred years ago on this date in 1923, film director, screenwriter and writer Mrinal Sen was born in a village in Faridpur, Bangladesh. After finishing school, he moved to Calcutta. After completing his studies in Physics at Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta, he entered his career. Mrinal Sen’s journey as a film director began in 1955 with the film ‘Raat-Bhor’. In 1981, Mrinal chose Anjan Dutt to play the role of Tarun Dipur, a sensitive, young Dipur in ‘Chalchitra’ in 1981. Anjan Dutt was 26 at that time, and Mrinal was 55. But despite their age, a close friendship developed between them. During the entire time of making the movie, the two friends continued to talk, chat, debate, argue. This chemical was used extensively during World War I. US State Department officials say the attack in Ukraine with this weapon is not an “isolated” incident. Russia often uses it.</p><p>According to US officials, the use of these weapons may violate the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). According to the convention, which has been ratified by 193 countries, no new chemical weapons can be acquired or development of such weapons possessed.</p><p>According to the CWC, the use of chloropicrin in any war is strictly prohibited. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the use of this chemical in oil can cause inflammation of the lungs, eyes and skin of people.
