Kwak Myung-woo’s conviction also caused problems in the trade between OK Financial Group and Hyundai Capital.
OK Financial Group transferred setter Kwak Myung-woo on the 19th of last month and agreed to a trade with Hyundai Capital Skywalker Cha Young-seok to receive a first-round draft pick for the 2024-2025 season.
Kwak Myung-woo, a graduate of Youngsaeng High School and Sungkyunkwan University, is a veteran player who joined the Rush & Cash Volleyball Team as the first choice in the second round of rookie drafts in the 2013-2014 season. While playing for 10 seasons, he played key roles by leading the team to win the championship title in two consecutive V-League matches in 2014-2015 and OK Financial Group in V-League in 2015-2016. He also had a brief history of carving the national flag in 2016.
In particular, he played in 126 sets in 34 games in the V League in the 2023-2024 season, contributing greatly to the OK Financial Group volleyball team’s advance to the championship game and the runner-up through side blocking and stable game management.
KOVO (Korea Volleyball Federation) had not yet disclosed the trade, and OK Financial Group asked KOVO to withdraw the trade disclosure.
Kwak Myung-woo was convicted during the 2023-2024 season. Even after the ruling, Kwak Myung-woo stepped on the court normally. The OK Financial Group club claimed that it was aware of Kwak Myung-woo’s trial after the trade discussion with Hyundai Capital was over.
Along with the withdrawal of the trade, Kwak is expected to face KOVO disciplinary action. Article 10, Paragraph 1 of Chapter 3 of the KOVO’s reward and punishment regulations defines “members who commit acts that damage their dignity due to serious social crimes such as sexual crimes (including sexual harassment), violence, drunk driving, illegal drugs, gambling, match fixing, racism, school violence in the past, human rights violations, etc.” as disciplinary targets.
KOVO and major officials from the men’s team will visit Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on the 14th for a 2024 foreign player tryout. Specific discussions on Kwak Myung-woo are expected to take place after the 14th.

The company said in a filing with the Korea Exchange on Thursday that its fourth-quarter net profit came to 19.05 billion won (US$16.9 million), up sharply from 78.39 billion won a year earlier.
South Koreans can only gamble at Kangwon Land Casino Resort (pictured) in the highlands of Gangwon Province, 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the capital, Seoul.
Operating profit fell 31.1% year-over-year to 65.77 billion won in the period, the company said.
The casino operator reported revenue of 351.87 billion won in the fourth quarter of 2018, down 8.6 percent from a year earlier. That includes gaming revenue of 312 billion won, down 9.5 percent from a year earlier.
The company declined across all gaming segments, with revenue in the mass table segment falling 8.8% year-on-year to 155.3 billion won.
Slot machine sales fell 7.3 percent year-on-year to W131.7 billion. Sales of the company’s so-called “membership club” fell 13.6 percent year-on-year to W56.4 billion.
Non-game sales fell 1.2% year-on-year to 39.9 billion won.
We have not commented on the quarterly results submitted to the Korea Exchange, nor have we made a separate presentation posted on our website.
Kangwon Land, however, noted that the total number of customers at casino resorts fell 12.8% year-on-year to 680,737. The company also said its revenue costs rose 4% year-on-year to 222.5 billion won.
In the 12 months to Dec. 31, Kangwon Land posted total revenue of about 1.44 trillion won, down 7.1 percent from 1.55 trillion won in 2017, the report showed Thursday.
In 2018, annual gaming sales fell 8.3% to 1.27 trillion won and non-gaming sales rose 3.6% to 164.3 billion won.
The company saw its full-year net profit fall 32.1% year-on-year to nearly 297.33 billion won.
The casino operator has been under political pressure to curb the growth of its income. Kangwon Land has been reducing its daily opening hours since April 1 in accordance with the Korean government’s order.
The company has also been ordered to reduce the number of mass tables from a maximum of 180 to a maximum of 160 from January 1, 2018.

The DB club said, “We renewed our contract with Albano for 195,000 dollars after tax (about 267 million won, about 342.5 million won before tax) for two years.”
After joining DB in the Asian quarter of the 2022-23 season, Albano led DB in the first place in the regular league with an average of 15.9 points, 3 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 1.5 steals in all regular league games last season, his second year.
With such performance, Albano has won the MVP of the domestic player. Albano is the first foreign player to win the MVP of a domestic player. Asian quarter players are classified as domestic players in various records and awards.

That was included in a press release released on Sunday by the privately owned Sun City Group, which is managed by Mr. Chow.
While the Suncity brand is best known for supplying high-stakes Chinese casino gamblers to the Macau market, the publicly traded company, which has not included revenue streams from Macau gambling junkets in its filing accounts, has increased its gaming investments beyond Greater China, both in terms of new resorts like Hoiana in Vietnam and deals managed by third parties in other markets like Cambodia.
“SunCity Group Holdings has successfully acquired a portion of its stake in Summit Ascension and will participate in the second phase of the Tigred Crystal Resort and Casino in Russia,” the press release said.
The filing made no mention of the size of Suncity Group Holdings’ stake in Summit Ascension, nor did it say when the acquisition took place. The announcement followed the appointment of Andrew Locai Bong as a non-executive director of the Russian casino operator in December. Mr. Law is also the executive director of Suncity Group Holdings.
Summit Accent’s casino resort Tigre de Crystal is near the Russian Pacific port of Vladivostok and has been touted by its promoter for its short flight times in large swaths of North Asia, home to casino gambling keen consumers.
Tigre de Cristal is the only casino property currently operating in the integrated entertainment zone (IEZ), a casino development area located 50 km (31 miles) from Vladivostok. The Maritime Development Corporation, a government-owned company under the Ministry of Tourism, is promoting the Maritime Province IEZ.
Stylianos Tsifetakis, Summit Ascent’s chief operating officer in Russia, recently told GGRAsia that Tigre de Cristal is planning a “large scale expansion” through the opening of the second phase of Tigre de Cristal. The company is aiming for an opening in late 2020 or early 2021. The entire second phase is priced at US$500 million, according to Summit Ascent.

Summit Ascension, a leading developer of Russia’s Far East Tigre de Crystal Casino Resort (pictured), posted a profit of HK$7.6 million in the period, compared with a profit of about HK$13.8 million a year earlier.
The company attributed the “weak 2018 ruble” to lower sales compared to Hong Kong dollar performance during the same period. While Summit Accent’s revenue is mostly in Russian currency, the company reports its financial results in Hong Kong dollars.
“If the group had used the average monthly exchange rate to convert total revenue in 2017 and 2018 into Russian rubles, it would have reported [an increase of 6% year over year],” the company said.
One of the main contributions to Tigred Crystal’s 2018 performance was the casino’s rolling chip operation, which is “mainly aimed at foreign players.” Summit Ascent said the company’s rolling chip sales fell from about HK$18.79 billion in 2017 to about HK$15.56 billion in 2018. Net income fell 35.5% year-on-year to HK$190 million in 2018 after all fees fell directly or indirectly to customers in its rolling chip business.
Summit Accent’s casino resort Tigre de Crystal is near the Russian Pacific port of Vladivostok and has been touted by its promoter for its short flight times in large swaths of North Asia, home to casino gambling keen consumers.
Tigre de Cristal is the only casino property currently operating in the integrated entertainment zone (IEZ), a casino development area located 50 km (31 miles) from Vladivostok. The Maritime Development Corporation, a government-owned company under the Ministry of Tourism, is promoting the Maritime Province IEZ.

Ulsan HD returns to the Tiger Den two weeks after a successful two-game road trip.
Ulsan will host Gimcheon Sangmu in the 12th round of the Hana Bank K League 1 2024 at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Munsu Soccer Stadium.
Ulsan currently sits in second place with 23 points from 10 matches with seven wins, two draws and one loss. They will host third-place Gimcheon (21 points) in search of three points.
Ulsan started the month with a 3-0 win over Suwon FC on May 6, followed by consecutive wins over Gangwon FC (4-0) and Jeju United (3-1). The team has been in good form since the start of May. The team has won five straight away games against Daegu FC (2-1) on May 1 and FC Seoul (1-0) on May 4. The strong showing against Seoul extended their unbeaten streak to 19 matches (14 wins, 5 draws) and seven years. He scored the game-winner against Seoul with a neat left-footed finish from Ataru’s penalty in second-half stoppage time. It was his first goal in 48 days since March 17 at home against Incheon United (3-3). Adam has three league goals this season, tied with Lee Min-kyu (three goals, two assists), as his goal-scoring form is slowly starting to catch fire.

Ulsan secured a 3-2 win against Gimcheon on March 9 thanks to back-to-back goals from Lee Dong-kyung (2 goals-1 assist) and Jang Si-young. This is the second meeting between the two sides. Lee Dong-kyung, who scored in a spectacular finale against Jeju United on March 28, joined the army training center a day later for basic military training.
