  34. <p>Former President <strong>Donald Trump</strong> told a cheering crowd at an NRA conference that he has &#8220;done more for the Black individual&#8221; than <strong>Abraham Lincoln</strong>.</p>
  35. <p><a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tag/donald-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Republican nominee</a> spoke to a crowd of conservatives at an NRA Leadership Forum in Dallas on Saturday, where labeled himself as a champion for the Black community. Even he claimed he did more for Black Americans as president than Lincoln who famously abolished slavery.</p>
  36. <p>Trump made sure to refer to himself in third-person while describing the his accomplishments under his first-term in the Oval Office. Trump famously commuted the sentences for non-violent offenders and pushed for prison sentencing reform while in office.</p>
  37. <p>&#8220;And honestly, there&#8217;s been no president. Since Abraham Lincoln and perhaps in a certain way, including Abraham Lincoln. But there&#8217;s been no president since Abraham Lincoln that has done more for the black individual in this country than President Donald J. Trump,&#8221; he said.</p>
  38. <p>Trump added, &#8220;There&#8217;s been nobody. Not even close.&#8221;</p>

  77. <p>CNN political commentator and GOP political adviser <strong>Alice Stewart</strong> has died at the age of 58.</p>
  78. <p>According to a report <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/18/politics/alice-stewart-cnn-commentator-dies/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released by CNN</a>, Stewart&#8217;s body was found outdoors in northern Virginia at Bellevue neighbored by authorities on early Saturday morning. Law enforcement believes no foul play is involved and that a medical emergency occurred.</p>
  79. <p>CNN&#8217;s CEO <strong>Mark Thompson</strong> released a statement praising Stewart for her &#8220;political savvy&#8221; and career but also &#8220;her unwavering kindness.&#8221;</p>
  80. <p>&#8220;Alice was a very dear friend and colleague to all of us at CNN,&#8221; said Thompson in an email to staff on Saturday. :A political veteran and an Emmy Award-winning journalist who brought an incomparable spark to CNN’s coverage, known across our bureaus not only for her political savvy, but for her unwavering kindness. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn such an extraordinary loss.&#8221;</p>
  81. <p>Born in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 11th, 1966, Stewart began her career as a local reporter and producer before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas to become a news anchor. Later she acted as a communication director for then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and later became apart of his 2008 presidential bid.</p>

  111. <p>Rep. <strong>Jasmine Crockett</strong> (D-TX) gave a warning to Rep. <strong>Marjorie Taylor Greene</strong> (R-GA) following their fight in the Oversight Hearing Committee earlier this week.</p>
  112. <p>On Thursday, a <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/how-dare-you-all-hell-breaks-lose-in-committee-hearing-as-marjorie-taylor-greene-brawls-with-aoc-and-jasmine-crockett/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House Oversight Committee</a> hearing to debate holding Attorney General <strong>Merrick Garland</strong> in contempt quickly turned into chaos after personal insults were levied between Greene and Crockett. It all started when the Georgia lawmaker Greene insulted Crockett&#8217;s “fake eyelashes.”</p>
  113. <p>The comment sparked outrage from Rep. <strong>Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez</strong> (D-NY), who demanded Chairman <strong>James Comer</strong> (R-KY) strike Greene’s comments from the record. Crockett responded by referring to Greene as a “bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body.”</p>
  114. <p>During an interview on Saturday from MSNBC&#8217;s <strong>Katie Phang</strong>, Crockett gave a subtle warning by saying, &#8220;Don&#8217;t come for me.&#8221;</p>
  115. <blockquote><p>Don&#8217;t come for me. That that is all that I need to tell her. Don&#8217;t come for me with it. You know, we showed up ready to work, and unfortunately, we cannot have our hearing at 11:00. Even though this is a pointless hearing and is ridiculous in and of itself, that we needed to have it, but we showed up there in the majority. They set the agenda. This is what they want to do. This is what they believe is a priority for the American people. And they decided that they would skip work and go to New York to be involved in Trump&#8217;s trial. And so then we get back at 8 p.m. and instead of focusing on what the task at hand was, which was whether or not AG Merrick Garland was going to be held in contempt of Congress, Marjorie Taylor Greene started talking about Judge Merchan, which is why I asked her, do you know why we&#8217;re here? And ultimately, it devolved into the debacle that it did.</p></blockquote>

  138. <p><em>Washington Post</em> columnist <strong>Jennifer Rubin</strong> attacked the Supreme Court as a &#8220;rogue institution&#8221; during a Saturday interview on MSNBC.</p>
  139. <p>Rubin joined host <strong>Ali Velshi</strong> for a discussion over the weekend to discuss the recent controversy involving Supreme Court Justice <strong>Samuel Alito</strong> <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/justice-alito-claims-his-wife-hung-coup-flag-because-neighbor-called-her-a-c/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hanging an upside-down U.S. flag</a> over his home in January 2021. The flag when upside is believed to be connected to dire distress and a symbol of protest.</p>
  140. <p>In fact, some critics of Alito have seen the hanging of the flag as a way of supporting former President <strong>Donald Trump&#8217;s</strong> false claim of fraud in the 2020 election. Other justices such as <strong>Clarence Thomas</strong> also face scrutiny regarding his wife&#8217;s sympathy for the January 6th Capitol rioters.</p>
  141. <p>Rubin noted that these ethics concerns should stop Alito and Clarence for overseeing Trump&#8217;s immunity appeal.</p>
  142. <blockquote><p>Yeah I was just going to say that part of the problem is the Supreme Court bar. They should be making motions to recuse these people, those people who have been on the wrong side of six, three decisions. Well, these guys have sat on the court should be asking for a rehearing. Judges who who did not abide by their oath, who have plainly repudiated the Constitution, decided these cases. So the Supreme Court bar has to get into this. And I will also make a point that the person who broke this story, Jodi Kantor, is a fabulous investigative reporter. She is not the, quote, court reporter. The problem is that the court reporters don&#8217;t investigate and treat the court like a regular beat. They don&#8217;t do investigative work. They don&#8217;t press for answers. They do not treat them critically. They are so in awe of their subject matter that they act simply like the press office of the court. So more Jodi Kantor. The press coverage of the court has to change, and I think the bar that goes to the court has to begin to put pressure on them as well. There&#8217;s a complicity and a, sort of silence, of normality that&#8217;s got to end. This is a rogue institution that has gone off the rails.</p></blockquote>

  168. <p>Sen. <strong>Tim Scott</strong> (R-SC) accused the mainstream media of failing to cover <strong>Joe Biden</strong> when the president makes perceived racial gaffes.</p>
  169. <p>Scott spoke with Fox News host <strong> Sean Hannity</strong> on Friday about the election and other topics. Hannity played a montage of Fox News clips with Biden saying things like in 2020, &#8220;if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then <a href="https://nypost.com/2020/05/22/biden-says-charlamagne-tha-god-aint-black-if-he-might-vote-for-trump/">you ain’t Black,</a>” or in 2007, while talking about <strong>Barack Obama</strong>, &#8220;I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that&#8217;s storybook, man.&#8221;</p>
  170. <blockquote><p>HANNITY: How is it that Joe Biden — we played that tape of Joe Biden and the things he said: &#8220;You ain&#8217;t Black,&#8221; and, you know, &#8220;They&#8217;re gonna put you all <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/opinion/after-years-of-overt-racism-trump-posts-video-claiming-joe-biden-has-a-racism-problem-to-mark-kamala-harris-pick/">back in chains</a>.&#8221;</p>

  172. <p>HANNITY: The thing that was the most unbelievable to me, and if it were a Republican, it probably would be career killing, which is him partnering with his friend and mentor, a former Klansman, to stop the integration of public schools and busing. Even <strong>Kamala Harris</strong> criticized him for that in that presidential primary debate in 2020. &#8220;I was that girl,&#8221; I believe she said. Because he didn&#8217;t want public schools to — his words! — to be like &#8220;racial jungles.&#8221; Am I the only one in the country that dares to bring this up and ask incredulously, &#8220;Why doesn&#8217;t anyone care about that?&#8221;</p>
  173. <p>SCOTT: You know they&#8217;re not putting that on CNN. You know they&#8217;re not playing in on MSNBC. They are not sharing the truth of who Joe Biden has always been. We should run commercial after commercial with Kamala Harris telling Joe Biden what he did in the sixties.</p>
  174. <p>And in addition to that, we should make sure that his words of the &#8220;jungle&#8221; — what a disgusting reflection on who he is. I will say this without any question: jobs and justice are moving more Black folks towards <strong>Donald Trump</strong> because we want fairness. And what we hear from Joe Biden over and over again is a pandering tour. But you&#8217;re 100% right to associate with a racist, a KKK member, and to celebrate it. You can only do that when all of the national media goes dark. They won&#8217;t cover any negative news on Joe Biden.</p></blockquote>

  200. <p>Glenn, who is the paramour of Rep. <strong>Marjorie Taylor Greene</strong> (R-GA), made the announcement at Saturday&#8217;s NRA Convention, where RSBN is covering <strong>Donald Trump&#8217;s</strong> upcoming speech.</p>
  201. <p>Glenn opened the show with the news, saying, &#8220;I&#8217;m not at the liberty yet to tell you where I&#8217;m going, but just know that the American people, Trump, and speaking the truth is still going to be at the forefront of what I do.&#8221;</p>
  202. <p>According to the <a href="https://meidasnews.com/news/brian-glenn-quits-rsbn">MeidasTouch Network</a>:</p>

  229. <p>Former New York Mayor <strong>Rudy Giuliani</strong> got served with a notice of his indictment while at his birthday party on Friday in the Arizona case on charges related to attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.</p>
  230. <p>Arizona&#8217;s Democratic Attorney General <strong>Kris Mayes</strong> made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter, less than two hours after Giuliani taunted the AG for being unable to serve the indictment, and included a link to Giuliani&#8217;s tweet. She then replied with a screenshot of the subsequently deleted post from Giuliani.</p>
  231. <p>In that message on X, Giuliani wrote to his followers, &#8220;If Arizona authorities can’t find me by tomorrow morning; 1. They must dismiss the indictment; 2. They must concede they can’t count votes.&#8221;</p>
  232. <p>The message included photo of the former mayor along with six partygoers at his birthday bash.</p>
  233. <p>Mayes responded to the post less than two hours later writing, &#8220;The final defendant was served moments ago. @RudyGiuliani, nobody is above the law.&#8221;</p>

He enjoyed an incredible evening with hundreds of people who love him—from all walks of life—and we look forward to full vindication soon,” said <strong>Ted Goodman</strong>, a spokesperson for Giuliani, in a statement to NBC News.</p>

  270. <p>On Wednesday, both <strong>Joe Biden</strong> and Trump agreed to participate in two debates, one hosted by CNN and the other by ABC News.</p>
  271. <p>By Friday, Trump was pushing the Biden camp to agree to a third debate hosted by NBC News and Telemundo. Trump also accepted a debate on behalf of his still-unnamed vice presidential running mate.</p>
  272. <p>“On behalf of the future vice president of the United States, who I have not yet chosen, we hereby accept the Fox vice presidential debate,” the Trump campaigned texted to Fox&#8217;s <strong>Bret Baier</strong> <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/election-2024/just-in-fox-news-announces-surprise-vp-debate-outside-biden-terms-trump-immediately-accepts/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">who announced Fox&#8217;s plan live on the air</a>.</p>
  273. <p>Vice President <strong>Kamala Harris</strong> has already accepted a debate offer from CBS News, but the Trump campaign has thus far eschewed that event in favor of the Fox proposal.</p>
  274. <p>A Biden campaign official responded to the NBC News/Telemundo invitation, saying, &#8220;The debate about debates is over. No more games.”</p>
  275. <p>In a statement Friday night, the Trump camp denounced Biden for turning down the third debate and dismissing &#8220;Hispanic voters.&#8221;</p>
  276. <p>&#8220;The Telemundo/NBC debate would be widely watched by Hispanic voters, but Biden’s handlers are petrified to allow him to defend his disastrous record,&#8221; <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/biden-rejects-debates-trump-nbc-telemundo-fox-news-rcna152860" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">a campaign spokeswoman said</a>. &#8220;Crooked Joe Biden is too &#8216;cobarde&#8217; to address the Hispanic community and answer for his failures on the debate stage!&#8221;</p>
  277. <p>&#8220;Cobarde&#8221; is Spanish for &#8220;coward.&#8221;</p>
  278. <p>The agreed-to debates will be hosted by CNN in Atlanta on June 27, and by ABC News on Sept. 10, with the location still to be determined. Both campaigns agreed to the debates after skirting the traditional process of setting up debates through the Commission on Presidential Debates.</p>

  298. <p>ABC News contributor and former U.S. Sen. <strong>Heidi Heitkamp</strong> was prepping for a live interview on Zoom when protestors entered her office at the University of Chicago on Friday.</p>
  299. <p>Pro-Palestine protesters overtook the school&#8217;s Institute of Politics afternoon and encountered Heitkamp, who is the institute&#8217;s director.</p>
  300. <p>Upon reaching her office, they demanded she leave. Much of what the protestors say is inaudible and none of them are seen on camera.</p>
  301. <p>“No, I’m not worried about the cops, you guys,” Heitkamp says to demonstrators.</p>
  302. <p>The protesters&#8217; response is inaudible.</p>
  303. <p>“What would you do if I didn’t go?” Heitkamp asks them. “What would you do if I just —&#8221;</p>
  304. <p>A protestor responds with a comment about the police, but again the remark is inaudible.</p>
  305. <p>“Well, I think the cops know who I am,” she replies.</p>
  306. <p>“Yeah, but they&#8217;re not going to be looking,&#8221; a protestor says. &#8220;If they throw tear gas–&#8221;</p>
  307. <p>After that, the video feed cuts out. None of the footage aired live.</p>
  308. <p>Heitkamp was preparing to participate in a panel discussion on ABC Live regarding a matter unrelated to Israel and Gaza. She was not harmed.</p>
  309. <p>According to the <em>New York Times</em>, protestors at the university overturned furniture and damaged property. The paper <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/17/us/uchicago-protests-politics-institute.html">said</a> Heitkamp was the only person in the building at the time.</p>
  310. <p>The protestors said in a statement they took over the Institute of Politics to protest the school&#8217;s ties to Israel. Eventually, police cleared the building, though some protestors remained outside.</p>
  311. <p>The <em>Times</em> reported that protestors at the University of Pennsylvania also attempted to occupy a building on campus, but police removed them while making multiple arrests.</p>
  312. <p>The building takeovers were just the latest on-campus demonstrations against Israel&#8217;s war in Gaza, which began after the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks.</p>
  313. <p>Last month, Columbia University administrators requested the NYPD remove protestors from the school&#8217;s Hamilton Hall.   336. <p>A guest on CNN&#8217;s <em>The Chris Wallace Show</em> took some heat when she compared the Republicans who flocked to Manhattan for the Trump trial wearing the &#8220;<a href="https://www.mediaite.com/trump/bill-maher-dumbfounded-at-republicans-showing-up-to-the-hush-money-trial-dressed-like-trump/">Trump uniform</a>&#8221; of blue suit and red tie, to Iraqi President <strong>Saddam Hussein&#8217;s</strong> lackeys from the early 2000s.</p>
  337. <p><strong>Chris Wallace</strong> set up the conversation by describing what he called &#8220;The Trump Posse.&#8221;</p>
  338. <p>&#8220;Twenty-one Republicans, including members of Congress and state officials who showed up at the trial this week, many of them wearing the same outfit the former president usually wears. Trump calls them, &#8216;<a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/05/13/trump-is-gagged-so-his-surrogates-say-forbidden-stuff-him/">his surrogates</a>,'&#8221; Wallace said.</p>
  339. <p>After playing video of House Speaker <strong>Mike Johnson</strong>, <strong>Vivek Ramaswamy</strong>, and <strong>Doug Burgum</strong> in their blue suits, Wallace asked <em>The New York Times&#8217;</em> <strong>Lulu Garcia-Navarro</strong>, &#8220;Whore wore the Trump uniform best?&#8221;</p>
  340. <p>&#8220;I mean, Vivek Ramaswamy said a true thing here, which is, this is not the United States of America. Since when is it in the United States of America that people have to wear the Trump uniform in order to show fealty and loyalty? This reminds me of <strong>Saddam Hussein</strong> and the &#8216;good old days&#8217; when you had the big mustache, when they were sitting around the table — &#8221;</p>
  341. <p>&#8220;Oh, come on,&#8221; protested conservative journalist <strong>Kristin Soltis Anderson</strong>.</p>
  342. <p>Garcia-Navarro shot back, &#8220;Oh, come on, come on! It was a joke, it was a joke.&#8221;</p>
  343. <p>She continued, &#8220;But to be clear, the idea that you are having to dress up as this man in order to show how close you are to him, how much you care for him is embarrassing.&#8221;</p>
  344. <p>Anderson said, &#8220;I&#8217;ve sat in a lot of rooms with a lot of Republican politicians that have looked just like that.&#8221;</p>
  345. <p>Wallace objected, &#8220;Oh, please! You think it was just a coincidence that they showed up in dark blue suit, white shirt, and red tie?&#8221;</p>
  346. <p>&#8220;It wouldn&#8217;t necessarily surprise me,&#8221; Anderson said.</p>
  347. <p><strong>Kara Swisher</strong> then lightened the mood.</p>
  348. <p>&#8220;I just was telling Chris, I was going to wear a suit like this today and just wander around behind him &#8217;cause I fully support Chris Wallace.&#8221;</p>

  375. <p>Comedian and political pundit <strong>Bill Maher</strong> was dumbfounded by the fact that nearly a dozen Republican members of Congress showed up in Manhattan Friday for the hush money trial &#8220;dressed like Trump.&#8221;</p>
  376. <p>Maher said, &#8220;So, I&#8217;ve been using the peppy little phrase &#8216;slow moving coup&#8217; since before Trump got elected, and here&#8217;s the next phase that happened this week. I don&#8217;t know if you saw this in the paper or wherever you get your news, but the Republicans have been showing up at the trial <em>dressed like Trump</em>.&#8221;</p>
  377. <p>As the audience laughed, Maher added, &#8220;I know. It&#8217;s all fun and games until it&#8217;s the law.&#8221;</p>
  378. <p>He continued, &#8220;<strong>J.D. Vance</strong> was there, <strong>Vivek Ramaswamy, Tommy Tuberville, </strong>the head of the House <strong>Mike Johnson, Matt Gaetz</strong>. No wonder Trump falls asleep in the trial; he&#8217;s counting his sheep.&#8221;</p>
  379. <p>Trump has been reportedly <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/breaking-snooze-trump-had-to-be-jolted-awake-in-court-4th-time-at-least/">falling asleep</a> since the beginning of the hush money trial, which is entering its third week. A gag order has prevented him from speaking ill of trial witnesses and family members of the court, so the Republicans on-hand Friday <a href="https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/trump-trial-maga-surrogates-gag-order-rcna152434">acted as his mouthpiece</a>, denouncing the &#8220;sham&#8221; trial and Judge <strong>Juan Merchan&#8217;s</strong> daughter&#8217;s ties to the Democratic Party.</p>
  380. <p>Maher added, &#8220;<strong>Lauren Boebert</strong> also showed up, but only because she heard one of the juries was hung.&#8221;</p>
  381. <p>A House Oversight Committee hearing on whether to hold Attorney General <strong>Merrick Garland</strong> in contempt of Congress was put on hold Friday since so many Republicans members were in New York. They convened the hearing later that night, which led to a war of words between reps. <strong>Marjorie Taylor Greene</strong> (R-GA) and <strong>Jasmine Crockett</strong> (D-TX).</p>
  382. <p>&#8220;Oh, speaking of cat fights, did you see what happened there — the House Oversight Committee had a hearing and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who&#8217;s Republican and white, got into it with Democrat Jasmine Crockett who&#8217;s Democratic and Black. And Jasmine Crockett said Marjorie Taylor Greene was a &#8216;bleach blonde bad built butch body.&#8217; And, somewhere in a tree, one of the Keebler Elves said, &#8216;somebody just burned a cracker.'&#8221;</p>

  411. <p><strong>Bill Maher</strong> guest <strong>Nellie Bowles</strong> of The Free Press said Friday that maybe both <strong>Joe Biden</strong> and <strong>Donald Trump</strong> should be drug tested before the upcoming presidential debates because &#8220;we never know&#8221; what kind of drugs they could be taking to &#8220;accelerate&#8221; their performance.</p>
  412. <p>The idea of drug testing was first proposed by Trump himself, who accused Biden of being &#8220;high as a kite&#8221; during his energetic State of the Union address. During a GOP dinner in St. Paul, Minnesota, <a href="https://www.firstpost.com/world/trump-demands-drug-test-for-biden-ahead-of-presidential-debates-13772252.html">Trump said</a>:</p>
  413. <blockquote><p>I just want to debate this guy, but you know – and I’m gonna demand a drug test too, by the way. I am. No, I really am. I don’t want him coming in like the State of the Union. He was high as a kite. We’re going to demand a drug test.</p></blockquote>
  414. <p>During a discussion on the debates, Maher said, “I think the guy who has more to prove is Biden. I think people — Trump is a known commodity, they know he&#8217;s going to be an asshole. He&#8217;s going to be lurking and growling and not obeying the rules and everything else. But Biden, they want to see proof of life.&#8221;</p>
  415. <p>After the audience laughter died down, <em>The New York Times&#8217;</em> <strong>Pamela Paul</strong> said, &#8220;I see it a little more favorably for him because he&#8217;s already shown that he can stand up and give a rousing talk when need be. So, he just needs to show that he is sane.&#8221;</p>
  416. <p>Journalist <strong>Nellie Bowles</strong> then gave her take.</p>
  417. <p>“There might need to be some amount of drug testing before for both of the men, just because we never know what kind of amphetamines and steroids are going to be helping accelerate — &#8221;</p>
  418. <p>&#8220;Really?&#8221; Maher said, as Bowles let her thought trail off.</p>
  419. <p>Both Trump and Biden have agreed to two debates in June and September, and the Trump team wants to add at least one more to the roster.</p>
  420. <p>Trump&#8217;s campaign managers<a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/trump-and-biden-agree-to-two-debates-in-june-and-september/"> sent a letter</a> to the Biden campaign saying, &#8220;We propose a debate in June, a debate in July, a debate in August, and a debate in September, in addition to the Vice Presidential debate. Additional dates will allow voters to have maximum exposure to the records and future visions of each candidate.”</p>

  442. <p><strong>Donald Trump</strong> insisted on Friday night that he will demand President<strong> Joe Biden</strong> take a drug test before they debate each other next month and in September.</p>
  443. <p>The Trump and Biden campaigns <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/trump-and-biden-agree-to-two-debates-in-june-and-september/">agreed</a> this week to two debates, on June 27 and Sept. 10.</p>
  444. <p>Speaking in St. Paul, Minnesota, the former president alleged that Biden was under the influence of drugs when he delivered the State of the Union address in March. After Biden&#8217;s speech, Fox News host <strong>Sean Hannity</strong> <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/jacked-up-joe-sean-hannity-criticizes-biden-for-having-too-much-energy-in-state-of-the-union-speech/">dubbed</a> the president &#8220;Jacked-Up Joe,&#8221; and said, &#8220;He sounded like a hyper-caffeinated, angry, old man.&#8221;</p>
  445. <p>Trump told the crowd he will demand that the president of the United States take a drug test as a precondition for the debates.</p>
  446. <p>&#8220;I just wanna debate this guy, but you know– and I&#8217;m gonna demand a drug test too, by the way,&#8221; Trump said as the audience cheered. &#8220;I am. No, I really am. I don&#8217;t want him coming in like the State of the Union. He was high as a kite.&#8221;</p>
  447. <p>Trump then looked up.</p>
  448. <p>&#8220;I said, &#8216;Is that Joe up there?'&#8221;</p>
  449. <p>The former president said that by the end of Biden&#8217;s speech, the president &#8220;was exhausted.&#8221;</p>
  450. <p>&#8220;We&#8217;re gonna demand a drug test,&#8221; he reiterated.</p>
  451. <p>The upcoming debates will be a break with tradition in that they will not have live audiences. Moreover, the candidate who is not recognized to speak will have his microphone cut.</p>
  452. <p>The first time Biden and Trump debated was a mess of <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/chris-wallace-laughs-in-disbelief-when-wolf-blitzer-tells-him-he-was-impressive-while-moderating-disastrous-trump-biden-debate/">epic proportions</a>, as then-President Trump repeatedly interrupted Biden and moderator <strong>Chris Wallace</strong>.</p>

  479. <p>Trouble started when Rep. <strong>Marjorie Taylor Greene</strong> (R-GA) commented about Rep. <strong>Jasmine Crockett&#8217;s</strong> (D-TX) &#8220;fake eyelashes.&#8221; In response, Rep. <strong>Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez</strong> (D-NY) requested Greene&#8217;s remarks be expunged:</p>
  480. <blockquote><p>OCASIO-CORTEZ: Mr., I do have a point of order. And I would like to move to take down Ms. Greene’s words. That is absolutely unacceptable! How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person!</p>
  481. <p>GREENE: Are your feelings hurt?</p>
  482. <p>OCASIO-CORTEZ: Move her words down!</p>
  483. <p>GREENE: Aww.</p>
  484. <p>OCASIO-CORTEZ: Oh! Girl, baby, girl!</p>

  491. <p>&#8220;You just can&#8217;t make that up,&#8221; he reacted. &#8220;That is awesome. I can&#8217;t help it. I liked it&#8221;</p>
  492. <p>He then welcomed Fox News host <strong>Jeanine Pirro</strong> to the show and asked her, &#8220;Why are people so offended?&#8221;</p>
  493. <p>&#8220;I think it&#8217;s funny too, but at the same time, they&#8217;re in Congress,&#8221; she replied. &#8220;The truth is, we think very little of people in Congress and when they engaged in high school, <em>Mean Girl</em> kind of back-and-forth, you say, &#8216;You know, why are we paying these people? Why do they have so much power? Why are they in a position to waste our time and their own time like this?'&#8221;</p>

  523. <p>Rep.<strong> Robert Garcia</strong> (D-CA) discussed Rep. <strong>Lauren Boebert&#8217;s</strong> (R-CO) &#8220;bizarre&#8221; insistence that contrary to reports, <strong>Donald Trump</strong> has not been sleeping during his New York criminal trial, but praying. The congresswoman hedged, stating that if Trump was sleeping, he looks &#8220;pretty&#8221; while doing so.</p>
  524. <p><strong>Maggie Haberman</strong> of the <em>New York Times</em> has relayed on <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/trump/trump-falls-asleep-in-court-again-scoring-courtroom-slumber-hat-trick/">multiple occasions</a> that the former president has dozed off during the proceedings in which he faces 34 counts of falsifying business records.</p>
  525. <p>During Thursday&#8217;s meeting of the House Oversight Committee – which was a veritable <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/how-dare-you-all-hell-breaks-lose-in-committee-hearing-as-marjorie-taylor-greene-brawls-with-aoc-and-jasmine-crockett/">farce</a> – Garcia referenced Trump&#8217;s drowsiness in the courtroom, prompting Boebert to offer an alternate theory.</p>
  526. <p>&#8220;I think he&#8217;s praying,&#8221; Boebert said, before truly going for it. &#8220;But if he is sleeping, you know, he certainly looks pretty while he sleeps.&#8221;</p>
  527. <p>Garcia appeared on Friday&#8217;s edition of <em>All In</em> on MSNBC, where he discussed the exchange.</p>
  528. <p>&#8220;Congressman, you think that Donald Trump was deep in prayer?&#8221; asked guest host<strong> Alicia Menendez</strong>.</p>
  529. <p>&#8220;Absolutely not,&#8221; he responded. &#8220;We know first, he&#8217;s not a religious man. That was <em>bizarre</em>. Ms. Boebert, of course, went on this whole tirade about Donald Trump actually praying, that he&#8217;s actually not sleeping during the court trial. We know that the <em>New York Times</em>, the <em>New York Post</em>, NBC, Forbes, all outlets have reported that Donald Trump has actually <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/crime/chris-hayes-mocks-trump-for-nodding-off-in-court-if-you-call-your-opponent-sleepy-joe-you-have-one-job/">been asleep</a> sometimes for long periods of time during his court trial.&#8221;</p>
  530. <p>Garcia went on to state that the reason he highlighted those reports was to undermine Republicans&#8217; claims that President <strong>Joe Biden</strong> – or &#8220;Sleepy Joe,&#8221; as Trump calls him – lacks the energy and vigor to be president.</p>
  531. <p>&#8220;This is a complete joke,&#8221; Garcia concluded.</p>

  551. <p>Former President <strong>Donald Trump</strong> demanded an apology from the White House on Friday night over the legal hot water he is in.</p>
  552. <p>Trump is on trial in Manhattan, where he has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments to cover up extramarital affairs ahead of the 2016 election. He denies wrongdoing, including the affairs.</p>
  553. <p>The former president is also under criminal indictment in three other jurisdictions – two of which are federal cases. In all, he has pleaded not guilty to 88 counts.</p>
  554. <p>On Friday, Trump reiterated his baseless contention that President <strong>Joe Biden</strong> and the White House are behind the prosecutions. In a twist, Trump demanded &#8220;apologies&#8221; on <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/112459013772870699">Truth Social</a> from those who done &#8216;im wrong:</p>

Not nice!!!</p></blockquote>
  556. <p>Trump has repeatedly railed against the principal characters in his prosecutions, including Judge<strong> Juan Merchan</strong>, who is presiding over his trial in New York. Merchan issued a gag order on Trump designed to prevent the former president from attacking witnesses, jurors, court staff, and their families. The order does not apply to Merchan himself and Trump has availed himself of this exception the world over.</p>

  607. <p>CNN commentator <strong>Van Jones</strong> let loose on Rep. <strong>Marjorie Taylor Greene</strong> (R-GA) after she sparked a firestorm in Thursday&#8217;s House Oversight Committee hearing.</p>
  608. <p>During the meeting, Greene commented about Rep. <strong>Jasmine Crockett&#8217;s</strong> (D-TX) &#8220;fake eyelashes,&#8221; which prompted Rep. <strong>Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez</strong> (D-NY) to <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/how-dare-you-all-hell-breaks-lose-in-committee-hearing-as-marjorie-taylor-greene-brawls-with-aoc-and-jasmine-crockett/">demand</a> the remarks be expunged from the record.</p>
  609. <p>&#8220;And I would like to move to take down Ms. Greene’s words,&#8221; Ocasio-Cortez told Chairman<strong> James Comer</strong> (R-KY). &#8220;That is absolutely unacceptable! How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person!&#8221;</p>
  610. <p>Comer denied the motion.</p>
  611. <p>Moments later, Crockett – under the guise of a point of order – said Greene has a &#8220;bleached blonde, bad-built, butch body.&#8221;</p>
  612. <p>On Friday, Crockett called Greene &#8220;racist.&#8221;</p>
  613. <p>“She is racist. I mean, I don’t have any questions about that,” she <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/17/politics/crockett-greene-contentious-committee-meeting/index.html">said</a>.</p>
  614. <p>Jones appeared on Friday&#8217;s edition of <em>The Situation Room</em>, where he blasted Greene.</p>
  615. <p>&#8220;I think that the standard of conduct has been pulled down slow by some of these folks in Congress,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They go there &#8217;cause they want to be celebrities. I&#8217;m talking about Marjorie Taylor Greene and others. Why do we even know her name? Marjorie Taylor Greene has never passed a bill. She&#8217;s never chaired a committee. She&#8217;s never done anything but be a provocateur and a clown and get under the skin of people and this kind of stuff that goes on. But whether she&#8217;s racist or not, she is a disgrace to the American people. She&#8217;s a disgrace to that Congress.&#8221;</p>
  616. <p>Jones then challenged Greene to &#8220;Do your job&#8221; and pass just a single bill.</p>

  641. <p>Fox News anchor<strong> Neil Cavuto</strong> reported on the Dow closing above 40,000 for the first time ever on Friday and voiced a note of optimism for the U.S. economy.</p>
  642. <p>“Fox alert for you. No problems at the corner of Broad and Wall. And right at the very last second of trading, the Dow did move over 40,000, settling at around 40,003.59 with a gain of about 140, 134 points,” Cavuto reported, adding:</p>
  643. <blockquote><p>This is about a five-week winning streak. A lot of this buoyed by the fact that people are optimistic we are going to achieve a soft landing. The growth is slowing to the degree that the fed had some wiggle room here to cut rates. Now, whether that happens is anyone&#8217;s guess. But the fact of the matter is that the trend has been the market&#8217;s friend earnings coming in better than expected.</p>
  644. <p>A lot of companies that are forecasting improving economic news as well. Now the bottom line here, in case you&#8217;re counting, in the last four years, the Dow has essentially doubled from 20,000 to about 40,000. And again, just since 2022, we&#8217;ve come storming back, to put on these extra 10,000 points. Now, a lot of that backdrop, again, is an improving, corporate structure. The inflation problem eased up. But again, optimism that rates could come down. Now there are some wrinkles here will be going into that this weekend. But for now all optimistic on the stock front.</p></blockquote>

  670. <p>Former federal prosecutor <strong>Andrew Weissmann</strong> is having a difficult time processing Justice <strong>Samuel Alito&#8217;s</strong> excuse for having an upside down American flag flying outside his house.</p>
  671. <p>On Thursday, the <em>New York Times</em> <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/disgusting-joe-scarborough-pounds-table-over-stunning-report-about-judge-samuel-alitos-stop-the-steal-sign-after-jan-6/">published</a> a <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/16/us/justice-alito-upside-down-flag.html">report</a> featuring a photo of the flag at the Alitos&#8217; home on Jan. 17, 2021. According to the U.S. flag code, Old Glory should only be displayed in such a manner to <a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/justice-alitos-home-flew-a-u-s-flag-upside-down-after-jan-6-a-report-says#:~:text=The%20U.S.%20Flag%20Code%20states,of%20issues%20over%20the%20decades.">indicate</a> &#8220;dire distress in instance of extreme danger to life or property.&#8221;</p>
  672. <p>The photo was taken just three days before the inauguration of President <strong>Joe Biden</strong>. Moreover, the Supreme Court was weighing whether to hear a case about the 2020 election, which <strong>Donald Trump</strong> lost. The court declined to hear arguments, with Alito <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/20pdf/20-542_2c83.pdf">dissenting</a>.</p>
  673. <p>An upside down American flag became the preferred symbol of many Trump supporters who falsely believed the election had been rigged against the former president.</p>
  674. <p>“I had no involvement whatsoever in the flying of the flag,” Alito told the <em>Times</em> in a statement. “It was briefly placed by Mrs. Alito in response to a neighbor’s use of objectionable and personally insulting language on yard signs.”</p>
  675. <p>Weissmann reacted to the report on Friday&#8217;s <em>Deadline: White House</em>, where <strong>Nicolle Wallace</strong> cited guidelines that Supreme Court employees must follow by quoting</p>
  676. <p>&#8220;Employees may not engage in partisan political activity,&#8221; the guidelines state. &#8220;Partisan political activity is political activity related to elections contested by political parties. For example, employees may not publicly support or oppose a partisan political organization or candidate.&#8221;</p>
  677. <p>Violation of the guidelines could call into question &#8220;the dignity of the impartiality of the Court.&#8221; Wallace said that an upside down flag on display at the time it was flying at the Alitos&#8217; house &#8220;certainly&#8221; would qualify as support for Trump.</p>
  678. <p>Weissmann responded by expressing disbelief that Alito blamed his wife while appearing to suggest he was unaware of the manner in which the flag was flown.</p>
  679. <p>&#8220;Can we just consider for a moment what Justice Alito&#8217;s defense is here?&#8221; Weissmann said. &#8220;Because of the photo, he can&#8217;t just say, &#8216;It didn&#8217;t happen.&#8217; Let&#8217;s assume his wife put it up, let&#8217;s take that as a given even though we just have this statement&#8230; It&#8217;s his lawn! He didn&#8217;t see it?&#8221;</p>
  680. <p>&#8220;He didn&#8217;t even say he didn&#8217;t see it,&#8221; Wallace replied.</p>
  681. <p>&#8220;Exactly,&#8221; Weissmann said. &#8220;It&#8217;s up for days. He never saw that? I mean, he doesn&#8217;t– he didn&#8217;t talk to his wife? He didn&#8217;t see the flag? He didn&#8217;t think, maybe I should take this down? Remember the environment we were in.&#8221;</p>
