Are you prepared to fight in a world where AI and deadly machines are trying to kill you? Yeah, so am I!
New details have come out about Nacon’s open-world, first-person shooter Terminator: Survivors and it seems that the game will, like the first two movies, see the player fleeing one “relentless and formidable hunter that cannot be stopped”, in the shape of the T-800 Endoskeleton, above.
We also know the timeline of the game and that it will follow the events of the second Terminator movie, which saw Judgment Day 1997 stopped or, well, delayed: “The game unfolds in 2009, shortly after the cataclysmic Judgment Day, during a period when Skynet’s production capabilities hadn’t yet reached their peak,” say Nacon.

“The T-800, an infiltration unit, serves as a reminder of Skynet’s relentless pursuit across time. The T-800 encountered by players is one of these units, sent by Skynet in its desperate attempts to rewrite history and secure victory in the Future War.”
Personally, I feel that Terminator has been crying our for a solid game adaptation and would pay good money to see one that expands on but completely respects the lore of the franchise and it sounds like Nacon want to do just that: “The inclusion of a single T-800 in the game serves not only to uphold the integrity of the franchise’s lore but also to deliver an immersive gameplay experience that pays homage to the films that inspired it.”

Set in 1980s New York, Eric is a new emotional thriller from Abi Morgan following the desperate search of a father when his nine-year-old son disappears one morning on the way to school. 
Vincent, one of New York’s leading puppeteers and creator of the hugely popular children’s television show, ‘Good Day Sunshine,’ struggles to cope with the loss of his son, Edgar, becoming increasingly distressed and volatile. Full of self-loathing and guilt around Edgar’s disappearance, he clings to his son’s drawings of a blue monster puppet, ERIC, convinced that if he can get ERIC on TV then Edgar will come home. As Vincent’s progressively destructive behaviour alienates his family, his work colleagues, and the detectives trying to help him, it’s Eric, a delusion of necessity, who becomes his only ally in the pursuit to bring his son home.

Creator Abi Morgan said, “When I pitched the idea of a New York puppeteer on a quest to find his missing son, with a 7ft blue monster in tow, it’s to Netflix’s eternal credit that they jumped on board. Eric is a deep dive into the 1980’s big apple, grappling with rising crime rates, internal corruption, endemic racism, a forgotten underclass and the AIDS epidemic, exposing the divisions rife between parents searching for their child, a detective battling with a system that is broken, and a lost boy who may never come home, and asks where the real monsters lie. With puppets…lots of puppets.”
Directed by Lucy Forbes, the six episode series hits Netflix on 20th May 2024.

The Boys will premiere its fourth season on June 13, 2024, with three episodes, followed by a new episode each week, ending with the epic season finale on Thursday, July 18. The eight-episode season will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, Judalina Neira, Ken F. Levin, and Jason Netter also serve as executive producers. The Boys is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.

While we have just had a new trailer for upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte (below), we’re all wondering where Skeleton Crew is and when it’s coming out…
Well, wonder no more.
Set in the so-called Mandoverse, Skeleton Crew picks up – as far as I can make out – after The Mandalorian season 3 and sees a group of young children lost in an unexplored part of the galaxy and it has been liken to the 80s movies of Amblin in tone. Sounds great.

With The Bad Batch ending this week past, Tales of the Empire dropping today – Happy Star Wars Day, everyone! – and The Acolyte hitting with its first two episodes on June 4th, it’s down to Skeleton Crew to cover the second half of the year with Star Wars content and it’s going to be a long wait after the end of The Acolyte, it seems the series is set to drop on Disney+ in December, meaning we’ll be spending time in the Star Wars galaxy over Christmas! Yes!
And if that’s not exciting enough, the show will be directed by a host of directors including Everything, Everywhere, All At Once’s TheDaniels and the MCU’s Spider-man director Jon Watts.

The series will be fronted by Jude Law who says his character is ‘contradictory’ and would like him to be the show’s Han Solo (he wishes!)
And that’s all we know at this stage… still, it coming out at Christmas is a massive win, especially if it really does feel like an Amblin project – those movies were always on in my house around Christmas time – and with Law and Banshees of Innisherin’s Kerry Conlon starring, there’s a real chance that this will be some fun, special Star Wars.

The series stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
The Acolyte comes from creator and showrunner Leslye Headland (Russian Doll), who also serves as executive producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are the co-executive producers; Rayne Roberts, Damian Anderson, Eileen Shim, and Rob Bredow are producing.
Headland also directed the premiere episodes (episodes 101 and 102). Directors Kogonada (episodes 103 and 107), Alex Garcia Lopez (episodes 104 and 105), and Hanelle Culpepper (episodes 106 and 108) round out the directing duties on the series. Michael Abels, known for his work on Get Out and Us, scored The Acolyte.
The Acolyte will arrive Tuesday, June 4, with a two-episode premiere on Disney+.

It’s been such an amazing journey, starting back in 1984 when The Karate Kid first hit cinemas until the present day and beyond into 2025 when the story ends with the final season of Cobra Kai – well, until the <a href="http://www.followingthenerd.com/movies/watch-worlds-collide-as-ralph-macchio-and-jackie-chan-unite-for-new-karate-kid-movie/">new Karate Kid movie</a> hits in 2025.

Yup, Berlanti is developing a Scooby-Doo series at the streaming giant and it’s set to be live-action! Berlanti has a script-to-series commitment for the Hanna-Barbera classic, so it may be going to go to series if Netflix bosses/algorithm/elves like the script enough.
The script is being written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, the writers of Cowboy Bebop and High Fidelity and, as of now, that’s all we know.

It’s unlikely to be related to the 2000s movies written by now-DCU boss James Gunn and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard, Linda Cardellini and Freddie Prinze Jr.
My first instinct is to reject this whole idea but, truth is, the 2000s movies weren’t that bad at all and, if this series captures the same cheeky humour and manages to mix in mystery and spookiness, this could be a lot of fun.

A great update on the new TRON Ares movie tonight as it seems the man, the myth, the legend Jeff Bridges is returning as Kevin Flynn, the man who started it all.
The actor was being honoured at Film at Lincoln Center with the Chaplin Award and discussed his career – the talk is below and I cannot recommend listening enough – when he revealed that he’s getting set to join the now-filming third installment in the series.
“I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the Tron story; I’m excited about that,” he says, adding: “It’s wild. Jared Leto is the star of this third one, and I’m really anxious to work with him, and I’ve admired his work.”

Returning as Flynn for the third time after the original TRON in 1982 and again in Joeseph Kosinski’s TRON: Legacy in 2010, Bridges goes on: “[I’m really excited] to see what the technology is going to be all about [this time],
“When I did Tron Legacy, we had to put all these dots on our face and all these kinds of things,” Bridges explained of the motion capture technology used at the time. “And that’s [probably] all passé. I had to see myself as a young guy or as another character, but the same guy, but it was gonna be digitally created. I think it was [de-aging], but I didn’t like the way I looked in it; I felt like I looked more like Bill Maher than myself; it was kind of bizarre.”
Bridges adds that Tron: Ares director Joachim Rønning is all about sets rather than CGI in the new movie: “I’m anxious to see what the technology and what it will be. I hear there’s even less A.I. stuff in this. It’s going to be more a practical set, and they’re beautiful; there are beautiful sets that I’ve seen.”

This was echoed by actor Cameron Monaghan recently who said the sets are incredible and he sometimes goes on set on his days off just to watch them work in them.
Bridges returning to the franchise that he started over forty years ago is great news! He’s one of my favourite actors and Flynn is a character I love, so, while I was excited for this movie before, I’m much, much more excited now!
The new movie stars Bridges, and Jared Leto along with Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson.
What the story of the new movie is, is unknown at this point but what we do know is that it will hit cinemas on October 10th, 2025.

While Zack Snyder’s time seems to be very much taken up with Rebel Moon and the upcoming extended cuts of those, he has taken a brief time out to share our first look at his upcoming Netflix animated series, Twilight of the Gods.
The image, above, reminds me of the work of <a href="https://www.cartoonsaloon.ie/">Cartoon Saloon</a>, especially Book of Kells.
Anyway, I digress.

Based on Norse mythology, Snyder shared the image on X/Twitter (below), writing: “We fear no Gods! Coming to Netflix this fall, my new animated series TWILIGHT OF THE GODS.”
Speaking last year about the series, Snyder said: “There’s a king and his queen in a small Viking village, and they want to get married.
“An event happens to them at their wedding that causes Sigrid, who is the bride-to-be, who is the child of giants, to go on a crazy mission of revenge.

I’m guessing the lady in the image is Sigrid and, em, isn’t this the plot of Rebel Moon? Anyway…
I’m guessing that this stage the Army of the Dead animated show is dead in the water? Haven’t heard anything about it since, well, the movie came out.
