On Thursday, Electronic Arts announced that fans can hit the digital gridiron with their favorite teams and players <a href="https://www.ea.com/games/ea-sports-college-football/college-football-25/buy#Playstation" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">July 19</a>.
Players will receive an Alma Mater Ultimate Team pack, a Cover Athlete Ultimate Team pack and a “Bring Glory Home” Ultimate Team uniform item as pre-order bonuses for both the standard and deluxe editions. People who pre-order the game’s deluxe edition will also receive 4600 College Football Points and three days of early access to the game. 
Those who decide on the MVP bundle will get the “Heisman Hopeful” Ultimate Team Pack and the deluxe edition of Madden 25 in addition to the benefits of the deluxe edition. 
Alongside the preorder release, EA revealed a trailer allowing players to explore the game further.

The trailer featured mascots and rituals from a variety of schools. Fans were able to see Florida’s gator, Texas’ Bevo steer, Oregon’s duck and many others.
Although Big Al couldn’t be seen in the official trailer, he was on the cover of a previous <a href="https://www.ea.com/news/discover-ea-sports-college-football" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">teaser trailer</a> and within the teaser itself. The narrator stated he needed to “address the Big Al in the room” regarding rumors of the college football video game series’ return.
The official trailer gave fans a sneak peek into possible gameplay, with Milroe throwing a pass to the end zone only to be intercepted by a player from Colorado. 
Other than some small gameplay, the trailer was most prominently about the traditions and legacies of the schools represented in the game. 
With the trailer also came the cover reveal for the standard edition in addition to the deluxe edition that was leaked last week, which featured six players,<a href="https://x.com/JalenMilroe/status/1791130111183397205" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer"> including Milroe</a>. On the standard edition cover are the three main players: Michigan quarterback Donovan Edwards, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter, seen in the front row of the deluxe cover.

Unlike the covers of the other two editions of the game, the feature image for the <a href="https://x.com/EASPORTSCollege/status/1791153549914865758" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">MVP bundle </a>does not contain a named player. The image only shows two hands coming from the bottom of the cover to catch a football.
College Football 25 is currently available for preorder on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5. In Game 1, LSU maintained its lead throughout the game, but Alabama’s late-game surge, including a home run from centerfielder TJ McCants and a hit from right fielder William Hamiter, secured the win. 
This win marked a historic victory against the Tigers, breaking Alabama’s losing streak against LSU that has endured since <a href="https://thecrimsonwhite.com/98530/sports/baseball-forces-sunday-rubber-match-with-no-20-lsu-with-emphatic-victory-saturday-night/" data-wpel-link="internal">the Crimson Tide’s last triumph</a> on May 7, 2022.
LSU then returned the favor, taking the win over Alabama 6-3 in Game 2. The Tigers’ strong defense and key hits propelled them to victory, setting the stage for Game 3 to see who would take the series.
Alabama emerged victorious over the LSU Tigers in this deciding game, clinching the series win. 
The game started with Alabama pitcher Ben Hess striking out all three leadoff batters in the first inning.
Hess emphasized the importance of maintaining a steady rhythm and consistently throwing strikes to gain an advantage. 
“I think for me, a lot of it’s just the tempo,” Hess said. 
Alabama found its momentum in the second inning, as catcher Mac Guscette hit a drive past second to load all the bases. A center-field drive from Hamiter then brought home first baseman Will Hodo to score for the Crimson Tide. 
A pitching change for LSU didn’t halt Alabama’s momentum, as second baseman Max Grant’s RBI extended the team’s lead before Hamiter was tagged out while attempting to steal home. 
From there LSU continued to fight back, scoring runs in the fourth and fifth innings and capitalizing on an Alabama pitching change. An eighth-inning drive by LSU brought the Tigers dangerously close to stealing the victory from Alabama, giving the Crimson Tide a narrow lead of 4-3.
With the pressure on, pitcher Braylon Myers struck out outfielder Jake Brown to end the game and secure the series win for the Crimson Tide. 
The team will travel to Auburn for a weekend series starting Thursday.

In a now deleted Instagram post, Milroe confirmed he will join Michigan running back <a href="https://www.foxsports.com/college-football/donovan-edwards-3-player" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Donovan Edwards</a>, Georgia quarterback <a href="https://www.foxsports.com/college-football/carson-beck-player" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Carson Beck</a>, Texas quarterback <a href="https://www.foxsports.com/college-football/quinn-ewers-player" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Quinn Ewers</a>, Colorado two-way player <a href="https://www.foxsports.com/college-football/travis-hunter-player" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Travis Hunter</a> and Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins as the six named players on the cover of the deluxe edition of the game. They will be presented along with nameless players from the other <a href="https://twitter.com/EASPORTSCollege/status/1760681095732080833?lang=en" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">134 schools</a> the game features.
EA confirmed that the cover was authentic and that all covers for the game will be officially revealed on Thursday. 
Although not much is known about the game, in a press release in February 2021 Electronic Arts said the game will deliver an authentic college football experience and the high-quality gameplay “that fans have long loved.”’ 
This loved experience comes from the original game, called “NCAA Football,” which was discontinued in 2013 after former UCLA basketball player Ed O’Bannon <a href="https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2009-jul-22-sp-videogames-lawsuit22-story.html" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">filed a lawsuit</a> alleging that the NCAA was blocking football and basketball players featured in EA Sports games from receiving profit.
After a legal battle, EA and the NCAA <a href="https://www.ncaa.org/news/2014/6/9/ncaa-reaches-settlement-in-ea-video-game-lawsuit.aspx" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">agreed to a $20 million settlement</a>. This was to compensate certain Division I men’s basketball and football players with a share of the games’ revenue, as O’Bannon argued that athletes should be paid for their name, image and likeness once they leave college.
“With the games no longer in production and the plaintiffs settling their claims with EA and the Collegiate Licensing Company, the NCAA viewed a settlement now as an appropriate opportunity to provide complete closure to the video game plaintiffs,” NCAA Chief Legal Officer Donald Remy said in a <a href="https://www.ncaa.org/news/2014/6/9/ncaa-reaches-settlement-in-ea-video-game-lawsuit.aspx" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">press release</a> in 2014.
<a href="https://www.si.com/college/2015/07/14/ncaa-46-million-judgment-antitrust-lawsuit" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">A judge also ordered</a> the NCAA to pay $44.4 million in attorney’s fees for the plaintiffs in the case.
The debate about athlete compensation went on for nearly a decade before the NCAA adopted an <a href="https://www.ncaa.org/news/2021/6/30/ncaa-adopts-interim-name-image-and-likeness-policy.aspx" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">interim policy in 2021</a> that suspended its former rules against students profiting from their NIL.
Fans have been passionately lobbying for the return of the game, and the NCAA’s new rules allowed it to be picked up again under a new name nearly a decade later. The game’s return was announced to in February 2021 while the NCAA was still working to finalize its new NIL policies. 
“We’ve heard from millions of passionate fans requesting the return of college football video games,” Cam Weber, former EA Sports executive vice president and group general manager said in a press release in 2021. “We love the energy, tradition and passion of college football and I am beyond thrilled to say we are back in development.” 
<a href="https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2024/02/22/ea-sports-college-football-video-game-nil-offers" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Each athlete in the game will receive</a> $600 and a copy of the game, but some athletes could later be selected as game ambassadors. 
Milroe won’t be the only Crimson Tide player fans might see when playing the game; <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C40rN7aLP_4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Ty Simpson</a> and <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C6o3CP-PjOK/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Parker Brailsford</a> both announced via their Instagram that they’d also be in the game. Fans can expect to see many others, as over <a href="https://twitter.com/EASPORTSCollege/status/1764667866006102497" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">10,000 athletes</a> have opted to participate.
Although there is no date for when fans will officially be able to join the Heisman finalist quarterback in finding national championship glory, the game is slated to come out sometime this <a href="https://www.ea.com/news/discover-ea-sports-college-football" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">summer</a>.

Head coach Dan Waters said he was proud of his team’s accomplishments this weekend. 
“In all my years of coaching and being around this sport, I’ve never witnessed a collegiate track and field meet better than what we had this weekend,” Waters said. 
On opening day, junior Victor Kiprop etched his name in SEC history by winning his third consecutive SEC gold medal in the men’s 10,000-meter run with his time of 29:36.95. Kiprop is now the only person in SEC history to win three 10,000-meter races in a row.
Kiprop also won the bronze medal in the men’s 5,000-meter race on Saturday with his 15:25.86 performance. 
Sophomore Hilda Olemomoi won her first career SEC gold medal in the women’s 10,000-meter run with a time of 33:47.19. 
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Carson Burian and freshman Doris Lemngole medaled in their respective events. 
Burian claimed silver with a time of 8:59.72 in the men’s event. 
Lemngole earned gold with her record-setting time of 9:28.21. She brought Alabama its first women’s steeplechase gold medal and now owns the meet and facility record. Lemngole also won a silver medal in the women’s 5,000-meter race on Saturday with a 15:25.86 time. 
Lemngole accumulated 18 points and tied for a share of the women’s Commissioner trophy for earning the highest score by an individual during the conference meet.

In a region packed with talented teams like Stanford and Duke, Alabama needed a nearly perfect all-around performance to come away with a victory. Unfortunately, the Crimson Tide couldn’t do so. 
The squad ended the regional with a final team score of 916, which was enough for 10th place out of the 12 competing schools. As a result, Alabama missed the top-5 cut necessary to make the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship.  
Sophomores Kynadie Adams and Mattie Frick were bright spots for the Crimson Tide as they each finished within the top 35. Adams was the team’s best player throughout the regional, finishing the tournament in a season-high 34th place out of the 396 players in attendance with a final score of 11-over-par 227 (77-74-76). 
Frick finished right behind her in 35th place with a final score of 12-over-par 228 (75-78-75) — her second highest finish of the year. 
Freshman Harriet Lockley had an impressive showing in her first ever collegiate regional, bringing home a 47th overall finish after moving three spots up the leaderboard. She ended the tournament at 16-over-par 232 (77-78-77).  
Senior Sarah Edwards nailed several shots during the final round, drilling two birdies and shooting up the player leaderboard to 50th place. Edwards finished the tournament with a score of 17-over-par 233 (75-81-77).  
The Stanford Cardinal finished the regional in first place with a score of 17-under-par 847 (284-274-289), who ended the tournament 19 strokes better than the second-place Duke Blue Devils.  
Virginia, Arizona State and San Jose State will be heading to the NCAA Women’s Golf Regional Championship in addition to Stanford and Duke. 
The Crimson Tide will look to reload this offseason and make a push for its second championship next spring.

Freshman pitcher Jocelyn Briski, whose appearance out of the bullpen extended the game, finally allowed the Tigers to get the best of her, as LSU singled four times to eventually walk things off in the bottom of the 14th inning.  
Alabama jumped on LSU’s All-SEC Second Team pitcher Sydney Berzon in the first inning. When shortstop Kenleigh Cahalan walked and right fielder Larissa Preuitt singled, the Crimson Tide needed to take advantage of the usually dominant Berzon.   
It was a sixth-inning rally by the Tigers that changed the game’s momentum.  
LSU only needed one hit to strike back from a two-run deficit. Kayla Beaver hit the second batter of the inning, allowed a single and walked another to load the bases.   
Reaching 90-plus pitches, Beaver began to lose control. Four balls plated the first runner of the game for LSU before her third hit batter of the inning brought in the tying run.   
Head coach Patrick Murphy decided to have left fielder Jenna Johnson bunt the runners over. Johnson executed the sacrifice to set up second baseman Kali Heivilin with runners on first and second and just one out.   
Heivilin slapped the second pitch of the at-bat to the left-center gap, scoring both Cahalan and Preuitt to grab a 2-0 lead.  
Heivilin doubled for the second time in the fourth, marking her first multi-double game of the season. Sophomore Abby Duchscherer’s infield single to follow Heivilin put runners at first and third with no outs for the Tide. What looked like a promising opportunity to extend the lead turned into a missed opportunity as Berzon forced three straight groundouts to third.
That inning came back to bite the Crimson Tide, as it was the most promising chance to score the rest of the game since it was the last time Alabama advanced a runner to third base. 
Berzon pitched all 14 innings, the most in SEC tournament history for a single game, and only allowed those two first-inning runs.  
Although Beaver ultimately let the lead slip through her fingers in the sixth, her first five innings of work were rock-solid. She allowed just four runners in the first five frames.   
Like Beaver, Briski was steady until nothing was left in the tank. From her entrance in the seventh inning through the 13th, she kept the game alive by holding the potent LSU offense scoreless.   
With the loss, Alabama has been knocked out of the SEC tournament and will await its postseason fate, which will be announced when the selection show airs on Monday.  
Multiple teams still have a chance to make resume-boosting arguments in their respective conference tournaments, which could bump the Tide down. 
Alabama has never failed to host a regional, but that streak could be in jeopardy as Alabama currently sits at just No. 15 in the <a class="Hyperlink SCXW156271753 BCX8" href="https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/softball/d1/ncaa-womens-softball-rpi" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener external" data-wpel-link="external">current RPI</a> rankings.

The action began in the first inning. Third baseman Gage Miller displayed his patience at the plate, drawing a walk and promptly stole second base to put himself in scoring position. 
Despite left fielder Ian Petrutz’s strikeout, the Crimson Tide managed to find and seize opportunities. First baseman Will Hodo was hit by a pitch, and centerfielder TJ McCants drove in the first run of the game. Troy’s defense tightened up, however, turning a double play to escape further damage. 
Alabama right fielder William Hamiter got his first homer of the season in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 4-0. Following Hamiter’s homerun, Bryce Eblin advanced to third base. Petrutz stepped up to the plate and despite getting out at first, secured an RBI as Eblin crossed home plate, extending Alabama’s lead to 5-0. 
Yet the Trojan offense continued to apply pressure as both right fielder Ethan Kavanagh and first baseman Will Butcher drew walks and advanced on a wild pitch. Shortstop Tremayne Cobb Jr. then hit an infield groundball resulting in an out at third, but the Trojans scored a run, putting the score at 5-1. 
Alabama changed its pitching strategy in the fifth inning, bringing in junior Aidan Moza, but the Trojans started to pick up the pace. A deep hit from Kavanagh brought in two runs, putting the score at 5-3. 
Butcher brought in more runners with a deep ball hit to the outfield to tie the game to 5-5. 
In the sixth inning, Hamiter once again put Alabama ahead, launching another home run. But Troy came back with another double from third baseman Aidan Gilroy, which brought the Trojans another run to make the score 7-6 going into the last inning. 
With the Tide clinging to a one-run lead, Troy mounted one last rally, threatening to snatch the victory. When it mattered most Alabama’s defense held firm, securing the final outs and sealing the win. 
As the game unfolded, the Crimson Tide’s energy surged. Head coach Rob Vaughn commended his team’s gritty performance, underscoring their tenacity and unity in overcoming challenges to secure the win. 
“You saw the energy start to come back in our guys the more that we played tonight,” Vaughn <a href="https://rolltide.com/news/2024/5/7/hamiters-two-homer-night-helps-baseball-outlast-21st-ranked-troy-7-6" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">said.</a> “When we showed up to the yard today some guys were still a little bit dehydrated, and we were still missing some guys out there. But what a gritty effort by us against a really good Troy team.”
The team will be back in action at home Saturday for Game 2 in its series against the LSU Tigers.

“There are a lot of quality golf teams that are going to Chapel Hill, so it will be a great challenge,” head coach Jay Seawell <a href="https://rolltide.com/news/2024/5/1/mens-golf-no-9-alabama-mens-golf-earns-26th-ncaa-regional-appearance" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">said.</a>
This season marks the <a href="https://rolltide.com/news/2024/5/1/mens-golf-no-9-alabama-mens-golf-earns-26th-ncaa-regional-appearance" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">18th time</a> that Seawell has taken the team to the NCAA regionals. Alabama is also seeking back-to-back regional championships, as the team won the <a href="https://thecrimsonwhite.com/109709/sports/alabama-mens-golf-advances-to-ncaa-championships/" data-wpel-link="internal">2023 Norman Regional last season</a>.
The top five teams of the Chapel Hill Regional at the end of the 54-hole stroke play tournament will advance to the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship hosted by the University of Texas at the <a href="https://www.omnihotels.com/hotels/san-diego-la-costa/golf" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">Omni La Costa Resort and Spa</a> in Carlsbad, California. Alabama has advanced to nationals 12 times under Seawell and is hoping to make it 13 next week.
“Our boys look forward to the challenge and are excited for the opportunity,” Seawell <a href="https://rolltide.com/news/2024/5/1/mens-golf-no-9-alabama-mens-golf-earns-26th-ncaa-regional-appearance" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">said.</a>

With a 4-3 loss against Auburn in Game 1 Thursday night, Alabama’s losing record was set in stone. The losing effort dropped the team’s record to 9-13 with just two games left. 
The Crimson Tide split the final two games of the series to finish the regular season with a 33-16 overall record and a 10-14 record in SEC play.   
In Game 1, the team fell behind in the first inning when Auburn designated player Amelia Lech launched pitcher Kayla Beaver’s pitch over the right-center wall to grab a 2-0 lead. The Tigers added a pair of runs in the second and third innings with a duo of RBI singles.  
Alabama had to play catch-up, and the offense was quiet until the seventh inning when first baseman Emma Broadfoot led things off with a single before second baseman Kali Heivilin brought her home with a two-run home run to center field. 
Right fielder Larissa Preuitt scored the third run of the game on an Auburn error. Preuitt, who would’ve had the tying run, advanced to second with just one out. The Crimson Tide’s top of the lineup was up, but Auburn pitcher Maddie Penta slammed the door, with back-to-back strikeouts to end the rally.   
Game 2 was a pitcher’s gem for all 11 innings of play, as the score was still 0-0 entering the top of the 11th. Freshman Jocelyn Briski started for Alabama while senior Shelby Lowe was in the circle for the Tigers.   
No runners made it past second base until the bottom of the sixth when Auburn loaded the bases. Beaver entered in relief and struck out the next batter in three pitches.   
In the 11th inning, the Crimson Tide broke through against Penta. Preuitt again came up with a leadoff single, and third baseman Bailey Dowling followed with a single of her own.   
Shortstop Kenleigh Cahalan stepped up to the plate with two outs, hoping to avoid another scoreless half inning. Cahalan rolled a grounder to the right side, but it squirted through the four-hole as Preuitt and Dowling dashed home to take the lead. 
In the bottom of the 11th Beaver retired the side in order to secure the Game 2 victory.   
Despite the loss, head coach Patrick Murphy felt pride in the competitive nature of the game and the team. 
“That was a great example of bend but don’t break,” Murphy said. “The pitching and defense were awesome. I just felt like Beaver was in control and we just needed one lucky bounce or a key hit to break it open and Kenleigh Cahalan came through.” 
Alabama couldn’t keep the momentum rolling in Game 3, as the Tigers stole the rubber match by a score of 3-0. 
Auburn pitcher Annabelle Widra shut down the Alabama offense, closing the Crimson Tide’s regular season with a complete game shutout.   
With the team’s 3-0 defeat in Game 3 Saturday afternoon, Alabama lost the series against its chief rival for the second consecutive year.   
Alabama, the No. 9 seed, will have three days of rest before returning to Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn for the SEC tournament Wednesday night.

Round of 64 vs Charlotte 
 No. 20 Alabama took down Charlotte with a 4-1 victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. 
The team fell behind 0-1 after a hard-fought doubles match in which Enzo Aguiard and Zach Foster took a 6-3 defeat to Charlotte’s Matias Iturbe and Vasco Prata. Alabama evened the match out with Roan Jones and Andrii Zimnokh beating Alex Richards and Coy Simon 6-3. 
The comeback attempt fell short as Charlotte’s Ivan Dreycopp and Spencer Gray beat Matic Dimic and Filip Planinsek 7-5 to give Charlotte an early lead. 
The match quickly turned around in Alabama’s favor. 
In singles, Jones put the team on the board and tied the match at 1 when he beat Coy Simon in two sets (6-3, 6-2). 
Planinsek followed suit and gave Alabama its first lead of the match when he took down Gray in two sets (6-2, 6-4). 
Once the Crimson Tide grabbed hold of the lead, there was no stopping it. Matias Ponce De Leon extended the lead with a two-set victory over Prata (6-4, 6-3). 
Foster sealed the victory in three sets against Dreycopp to give the team its fourth and game-winning point (5-7, 6-3, 6-4). 
“It was a good test of patience, focus and response today,” head coach George Husack said. “Our guys took some blows but kept their feet under them. They accepted the challenge and never stepped out of the ring.” 
Friday’s victory sent the Crimson Tide to the second round of the tournament for the 10th time in program history. 
“While for some it might be nerve racking, for us it defines who we are, and our guys are tough,” Husack said. 
Round of 32 vs No. 13 Duke 
Alabama’s first round victory set it up for a Round of 32 matchup against No. 13 Duke.
Duke got the first point of the match, with the nation’s top-ranked duo Garrett Johns and Pedro Rodenas beating Aguiard and Foster 6-3. 
During singles Alabama trailed 3-0, with Ponce De Leon falling to Duke’s Pedro Rodenas in two sets (6-2, 6-2) and Aguiard coming up short in a tough two-set loss to Connor Krug (6-4, 6-4). 
Jones kept the Crimson Tide alive with his two-set win against Duke’s Faris Khan to bring the match deficit down to 3-1 (6-4, 6-2). 
However, hopes of a late comeback were dashed when Zimnokh lost a close match to Duke’s Andrew Zhang in two sets to end Alabama’s tournament run (6-4, 6-4). 
“Tough match and congratulations to Duke,” Husack said. “Plenty to be proud of this season as, together, our team learned how to compete at a higher level, welcome challenges, be more willing to find solutions and as a result be rewarded for their effort and commitment.” 
The season may have come to an end, but Husack believes that this is just the beginning for the team. With no seniors on the current roster, Alabama will have the whole team returning next year. 
“We have been building the last two seasons, so this year’s accomplishments are noteworthy but not the end. This is just the continuation of where we started,” Husack said. 
Even though Saturday’s loss marks the end of Alabama’s season as a team, Planinsek will compete in the <a href="https://www.ncaa.com/news/tennis-men/article/2024-04-30/di-mens-tennis-championships-singles-and-doubles-selections-announced" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="external noopener noreferrer">NCAA singles tournament</a> starting May 20. The 29th-ranked singles player in the country earned an at-large bid in the singles bracket.
