68.
The 16-team super conference will now only have one rotating opponent instead of the traditional three due to the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, with the rotating opponent set to change annually.

 69.
Looking more specifically at individual matchups, Kentucky will compete against Georgia twice in the 2024-25 season. Last year, the Cats lost to the Bulldogs in Athens during their only meeting.

 70.
Arkansas travels to Lexington on the home slate. The teams split the series last season, with both teams taking a win at home.

 71.
Mississippi State granted Kentucky its only road win during the 2023-24 season, but the Wildcats were unable to beat the Bulldogs at home.

 72.
Kentucky traveled to Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Tennessee last year, all of which ended in a loss for UK.

 73.
The Cats have only ever faced the Longhorns — coming from the Big 12 — twice in history and Texas won both matchups. Their first matchup was in 1978 in Austin and the most recent was in 2007 at the Jack in the Box Wahine Classic in Honolulu. Now, Kentucky and Texas will compete in Lexington for the first time ever this season.

 74.
Looking at the road opponents, Kentucky faced eventual undefeated national champion South Carolina twice last season (0-2), however the new format has ended the Cats and Gamecocks’ two-game 30-year rivalry as Kentucky and South Carolina have played home-and-away for every season since 1995-96.

 75.
Kentucky will also be traveling to Florida, Ole Miss, Missouri and Texas A&M. The Cats defeated Florida and Missouri in close games at home last season, beating the Tigers by five and the Gators by four. Kentucky was not as lucky against Ole Miss and Texas A&M, falling to the Rebels in a blowout and to the Aggies in a dominant second-half comeback.

 76.
The Oklahoma Sooners will host Kentucky for their first season in the SEC. The two most recently met in round two of the 2015-16 NCAA Tournament, with the Wildcats winning at Memorial Coliseum.

 77.
The SEC has not announced the dates and times of any of its conference matchups. The remainder of the 2024-25 women’s basketball schedule is set to be released later this fall.

 125.
“I’m happy for em’ because they’ve obviously done something that’s never been done before,” Kentucky head coach Nick Mingione said. “They’ll have that for the rest of their life, and they should be proud of it.”

 126.
The Wildcats found themselves down 1-0 after Jonathan Vastine took the first pitch from Trey Pooser and hit it off the batter’s eye for a home run.

 127.
Pooser settled in and retired the side, allowing his offense a chance to respond.

 128.
The Cats’ leadoff hitter Ryan Waldschmidt stepped up and hit a double. Émilen Pitre then drew a walk and Devin Burkes laid down a bunt for a hit to load the bases.

 129.
“I think that’s a big thing for us is just having trust in the coaching staff and ourselves to just execute when the play gets called,” Waldschmidt said.

 130.
Nick Lopez showed off one way the Cats can score by hitting a sacrifice fly to bring home Waldschmidt and tie the game at 1-1.

 131.
One batter later, Mitchell Daly showed another element of the offense as he laid down a bunt and beat out the throw to first for a single, allowing Pitre to score and give the Cats a 2-1 lead.

 132.
Nolan McCarthy drew a walk to reload the bases and James McCoy showed how plate discipline can also bring in a run as he walked to score Burkes, which extended the lead to 3-1 after one.

 133.
“That’s one thing we pride ourselves on, just whenever we get punched, punch back,” Burkes said.

 134.
After going scoreless in the second, Grant Smith brought home Daly on a sacrifice fly, but this was not all the scoring as Waldschmidt showed another element to the offense by crushing a three-run home run over the left field wall, which extended the Cats’ lead to 7-1 after three.

 135.

Kentucky outfielder Ryan Waldschmidt swings during the Kentucky vs Louisville baseball game on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky. 136.
The Bat Cats continued to click offensively in the fourth when Lopez led off with a double and Daly advanced him to second on a bunt. McCarthy hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Lopez, which extended the lead to 8-1.

 265.
Moore struck out the next batter before walking two straight and Kentucky head coach Nick Mingione intentionally walked Jac Caglianone to load the bases.

 266.
With a 3-2 count on the eighth pitch of the at-bat, Moore threw a change up down and away to righty Luke Heyman for a swing-and-miss strikeout to end the inning and escape the jam.

 267.
Moore returned to form in the fourth by getting a fly-out and two groundouts in a three-up, three-down inning.

 268.
The fifth was no different for Moore as he struck out two batters and got a groundout for his second straight three-up, three-down frame.

 269.
The righty continued to stay in rhythm in the sixth by tossing his third straight three-up, three-down inning in which the outs came via a groundout, fly-out and a line-out.

 270.
Tyler Shelnut broke up a streak of 11 straight Gators sat down by Moore in the bottom of the seventh with a one-out single to center on the eighth pitch of the at bat.

 271.
Moore struck out Brody Donay for the second out before he walked Yost. Now at 104 pitches, Kentucky pitching coach Dan Roszel came to the mound to talk to his starter.

 272.
Ashton Wilson came off the bench and worked a 3-2 count against Moore and won the at-bat on the sixth pitch by doubling down the right field line to bring home both runners, which made the score 3-2 Wildcats.

 273.
The double knocked Moore out of the game at 110 pitches, but his effort certainly gave the Wildcats all they could ask for with the series on the line.

 274.
Moore will look to continue to build on back-to-back strong performances in his last regular season start against Vanderbilt at Kentucky Proud Park.

 295.

No. 5 Kentucky men’s tennis earned its spot in the Elite Eight of the NCAA National Tournament after defeating No. 12 Harvard 4-2 in Lexington over the weekend.

 296.
With its ticket punched for Stillwater, Oklahoma, Kentucky will make the trip to take on No. 4 TCU on Thursday, with the matchup having the potential to be the most exciting of all the Elite Eight matchups.

 297.
Kentucky’s strength most of the season has been grabbing the doubles point for the 1-0 lead, with strong singles play from courts four, five and six to finish the job. Meanwhile, TCU’s strong suit lies on its courts one, two and three in singles.

 298.
“In the last eight, every match is a battle, so we’ll come prepared, and we’ll just do what we did all year,” captain Taha Baadi said after clinching the win over Harvard.

 299.
No. 28 Baadi is 10-7 against ranked opponents in singles on the year and is set to face off with No. 13 Jack Pinnington, who is 29-8 on the season.

 300.
TCU’s roster features two top 15 singles players as No. 7 Jake Fearnley has been playing at court two singles for most of the season, with Josh Lapadat, who lost his most recent match against a ranked opponent, being tasked with taking him on.

 301.
“I think they haven’t played their best tennis yet,” head coach Cedric Kauffmann said. “I hope they come in and do it, because if they do I think we’re very very dangerous.”

 302.
The Wildcats’ strongest courts this season have been the bottom three — Charlelie Cosnet has only lost three matches all season long and will be facing Sebastian Gorzny, who is looking to snap his three-match losing streak while freshmen Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson are a combined 37-6 and have held steady at courts five and six all season long, providing a nice balance to the power TCU has up top.

 303.
Fearnley and doubles partner Pedro Vives took down the nation’s No. 1 doubles pair in the team’s win over Duke last weekend, meaning Kentucky’s top pair of No. 4 Lapadat and JJ Mercer have their work cut out for them.

 304.
If Kentucky survives TCU, it’s most likely to match up with Ohio State in the Final Four, the No. 1 team in the nation that has just one loss on the season.

 305.
The team’s leadership and experience coming from five seniors has already led them to the National Indoor Championship and is now making the Buckeyes the heavy favorite to runway with this years title.

 306.
“We respect everybody, but we fear no one,” Kauffmann said. “We compete very hard, you’re going to have to go three, four hours to get us down.”

 307.
Kentucky will look to continue its championship push and 18-match win streak against TCU this Thursday, May 16, at 2:30 p.m. ET in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

 355.
The Wildcats can be found amongst seven SEC teams in the rankings.

 356.
SEC representation began at No. 1 with Tennessee, who remained on top for the second week in a row. The Volunteers finished 3-1 on the week that began with a midweek win over Queens before heading to Nashville for a weekend series victory against Vanderbilt.

 357.
Behind the Wildcats at No. 3 was Arkansas, which moved up two spots in the rankings after a 2-1 week. With no midweek game, the Razorbacks’ only action was a weekend series against Mississippi State in which they won the series after dropping game two.

 358.
Moving down two spots to No. 5 was Texas A&M, which finished 2-2 on the week. The Aggies took care of Rice in a midweek matchup before heading to Oxford, Mississippi, for a weekend series with the Rebels. Ole Miss took the first two games and the series before the Aggies salvaged the series finale.

 359.
A few spots behind the Aggies at No. 9 was Georgia, which tied for the biggest jump in the rankings, moving up six spots after a 3-0 week. With no midweek action, the Bulldogs’ only action was a road sweep over South Carolina.

 360.
After a small break, Mississippi State was next to represent the SEC at No. 16. The Bulldogs fell two spots in the rankings after finishing 1-2 on the week where their only action was an away series loss against Arkansas.

 361.
Rounding out conference representation at No. 24 was South Carolina, which had the biggest drop in the rankings, falling 11 spots after a 1-3 week. The Gamecocks took care of Winthrop in a midweek game before being swept at home by Georgia.

 362.
The Texas Longhorns entered the rankings this week at No. 25, replacing Troy, which fell from No. 21 to unranked.

 440.
With the full slate unveiled, Kentucky will play every team in the conference at least once, getting home and away contests against Alabama, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

 441.
Kentucky played home and away games against the two Tennessee outfits last season, winning in Knoxville but dropping the home game against Tennessee and sweeping the Commodores, who will be expected to take a step up after hiring former James Madison coach Mark Byington.

 442.
As for Alabama, the Cats defeated the Crimson Tide in blowout fashion, setting a record for points scored in SEC play, at home last season, but the last time UK traveled to Tuscaloosa was the lopsided 78-52 loss to eventual No. 1 overall seed Alabama in 2023.

 443.
Looking at just the home slate, in perhaps the most anticipated game of the season, Kentucky will host the Arkansas Razorbacks, home of former head coach John Calipari, who left in controversial fashion after the Cats’ NCAA Tournament loss to Oakland.

 444.
Kentucky will not make the return trip to Fayetteville, meaning Calipari’s homecoming to Lexington will be the only meeting of the pairing in the regular season.

 445.
The Cats will also host Auburn, LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M, all of which were road contests one year ago with UK losing three of the four, blowing out Auburn but being the victim of an LSU buzzer beater, a South Carolina blowout and an overtime defeat in College Station.

 446.

Kentucky Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart holds a jersey with Mark Pope at Pope’s introductory press conference as the new head coach of Kentucky men’s basketball on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. 447.
The home contest against the Florida Gators will be the only meeting of the regular season for the pairs who frequently play home and away, with UK winning in Gainesville but losing at home last season.

 448.
As for the road slate, Kentucky gets trips to Texas and Oklahoma in the pair’s first ever season in the SEC, marking the first conference matchups for UK and the two former Big 12 outfits.

 449.
Kentucky will also play both Mississippi schools on the road after having a home and away with Mississippi State (2-0) and hosting Ole Miss (1-0) last season.

 450.
It will also travel to Georgia and Missouri, both of which it hosted and defeated within Rupp Arena.

 451.
The SEC has yet to announce the dates and times of any of its conference matchups.

 528.
Stephenson, the breakout freshman with a new 17-1 singles record, then earned the Cats a point on court six before Cosnet managed to force a tiebreaker in the second set, going on to win 7-5 and give Kentucky a 3-1 match lead.

 529.
Loutit would go on to lose his second set 6-3, putting the pressure on the freshman for yet another big finish if the top courts did not perform.

 530.
Lapadat, moments after Baadi tied Williams 3-3 in the third set, lost on court two to make the match score 3-2, but with the help of the electric Kentucky crowd, Baadi managed to score three straight points and win the match for the Wildcats.

 531.
The team rushed him with excitement and the crowd exploded, all while Coach Cedric Kauffmann waved a white towel and ran towards the players.

 532.
After the match, Baadi reflected on his clutch performance.

 533.
“It was amazing,” said Baadi. “To end your career, your college career, with a match like this, there’s nothing I could wish more for.”

 584.
Herrera finished the day 2-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch and led the offense with four huge RBIs.

 585.
The Wildcats grabbed a lead in the top of the second when Ryan Nicholson hit a fly ball to right center that fell after two Gators collided into each other, allowing Mitchell Daly to score.

 586.
After Nolan McCarthy drew a walk and James McCoy advanced both base runners into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt, Herrera came to the plate for his first at-bat.

 587.
After taking two balls and fouling a pitch off, Herrera hit an infield single that the shortstop knocked down, but not before Nicholson came home to score easily.

 588.
Ryan Waldschmidt then brought home McCarthy on a groundout which gave the Cats a 3-0 lead after two.

 589.
Herrera stepped back up to the plate in the fifth and was hit by pitch, but ultimately left stranded at second.

 590.
Pitching prevailed in the middle innings as Mason Moore shut down the Gator offense through six innings before running into trouble in the seventh.

 591.
Moore gave up a one-out single to Tyler Shelnut before bouncing back and striking out Brody Donay for the second out. Hayden Yost doubled down the left field line to bring home Shelnut and Yost, which cut the Wildcat lead to 3-2.

 592.
Robert Hogan relieved Moore and finished out the seventh before pitching a scoreless eighth.

 593.
Hogan returned to the mound in the bottom of the ninth and got one out before hanging an off-speed pitch, which Shelnut hit over the left field wall to tie the game.

 594.
The Wildcats were able to fend off the Gators’ walk-off attempt to move the game into extra innings and Devin Burkes led off the tenth inning with a double, followed up by a Nick Lopez single.

 595.
Ty Crittenberger came in to pinch run for Lopez and advanced to second before Daly drew a walk to load the bases. After Nicholson struck out, Nolan McCarthy hit an infield single to score Burkes and give the Cats a one-run lead.

 596.
James McCoy struck out for the second out to bring Herrera up with the bases still loaded.

 597.
After taking a strike from Florida’s Brandon Neely, Herrera lined a ball over the head of Shelnut in left and it rolled all the way to the wall, which scored Crittenberger, Daly and McCarthy as Herrera cruised into second with the Wildcats boasting a 7-3 lead.

 599.
Ryan Hagenow closed out the ninth and stayed on the mound in the tenth and gave up a leadoff single to Jac Caglianone. After striking out Luke Heyman, Hagenow hit Colby Shelton and walked Shelnut to load the bases.

 600.
McCoy was called in from right field to try and close out the game and struck out Donay for the second out before giving up a double to Yost, which scored Caglianone and Shelton.

 601.
With the score now 7-5 and the tying run on second, Kentucky head coach Nick Mingione called upon Ben Cleaver to try and get the final out.

 602.
Landon Russell pinch-hit for Michael Robinson and worked a 2-2 count before Cleaver fired a fastball up in the zone past a swinging Russell for the series-clinching final out.

 603.
Kentucky returns home to Kentucky Proud Park on Tuesday, May 14, for its final mid-week game of the year against Murray State, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET.
