20.
We’ve compiled four major takeaways from the Tennessee Titans’ 2024 season schedule

The NFL finally released the official schedules for the 2024 season on Wednesday evening. That means it’s time for some immediate reactions to the Tennessee Titans’ slate. After enjoying another creative Broadway-themed schedule release video, I noticed four topics throughout the schedule that stuck out to me.

 28.
No division game until Week 6

 29.
The Titans will play two unfamiliar NFC opponents in their first three contests, opening Week 1 versus the Chicago Bears, and hosting the Green Bay Packers in Week 3. Following a Week 5 bye, the Titans will play their first AFC South divisional game of the 2024 campaign against the Indianapolis Colts at Nissan Stadium in Week 6. Brian Callahan’s Titans will be well-rested for that imperative contest.

 30.
Only one primetime game for Tennessee

 31.
Tennessee’s only primetime game of the 2024 campaign will occur in September against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football in Week 4. It’ll be a rematch of last year’s thriller in South Florida when quarterback Will Levis spearheaded a legendary come-from-behind victory. The Titans scored 15 points in a span of 51 seconds, erasing a 14-point deficit to win 28-27. The Dolphins will attempt to exact revenge.

 32.
Three rookie quarterbacks in five weeks?

 33.
Injuries and training camp battles make it impossible to precisely pinpoint every starting quarterback the Titans will face, but the schedule contains three matchups against rookie quarterbacks across a five-week span. The Titans host the New England Patriots in Week 9, who drafted Drake Maye third overall. Just two weeks, J.J. McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings are slated to visit Nashville in Week 11. And finally, Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders are the Week 13 opponent.

 34.
Three divisional games to end the season

 35.
Tennessee’s 2024 campaign could be decided throughout their final three contests. They’re scheduled to play three games within the AFC to conclude their season. They’ll be on the road versus the Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars in Weeks 16 and 17, and wrap up the year by hosting CJ Stroud’s Houston Texans in Week 18.

 36.
It’s actually four divisional contests in their final five, with the Jaguars visiting Nashville in Week 14. If the Titans are even halfway competitive up until that point, they’ll control their own destiny. Dominating the AFC South throughout the latter half of their schedule could position Tennessee to win the division.

It marked Latham’s debut in a Titans practice uniform. The social team made the wise decision to have Latham mic’d up throughout the weekend. It led to this awesome three minute video release.

 64.
Latham can be seen working with offensive line coach Bill Callahan and his patented sled machines. “Olga” and “Bertha” weigh a customized 380 pounds and are designed to only move when struck with the appropriate technique. Latham swiftly adjusts to Callahan’s invention. It’s becoming increasingly easy to see why Latham was Callahan’s favorite player in the draft.

 65.
Latham also showcases terrific footwork and hand placement throughout individual drills. He can be seen motivating his teammates and breaking the huddle at practice. The former Alabama standout appears to possess natural leadership tendencies.

 66.
Latham will make his Titans debut against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the preseason. The Titans open their 2024 regular season on the road against Caleb Williams the Chicago Bears. He’ll be tasked with protecting sophomore quarterback Will Levis’ blindside. The toughest matchup for Latham will be Bears EDGE Montez Sweat.

 67.
This video indicates Latham will be prepared for all challenges ahead.

 79.
Some thoughts on the Titans September schedule

 85.

 86.
 87.
Trying to break down an NFL schedule in May is a fool’s errand. We have no idea which teams are going to be good and bad right now. Teams also take big steps forward and backward throughout the course of the season. With that being said, let’s talk about the first month of the Tennessee Titans season.

 88.
September schedule:

 89.
Week 1: @ Chicago Bears - September 8, 12 PM

 90.
Week 2: vs. New York Jets - September 15, 12 PM

 91.
Week 3: vs. Green Bay Packers - September 22, 12 PM

 92.
Week 4: @ Miami Dolphins - September 30 6:30 PM (Monday Night Football)

 93.
The week 1 lines are out over at DraftKings, and the Titans have opened as a 4.5-point underdog against the Bears. It is to the Titans' advantage that they are getting Caleb Williams in his first NFL game. Dennard Wilson should think up every blitz he can imagine and throw it at Williams to see what he can handle. If I had to place a bet today, I’d take the Titans to cover the 4.5.

 94.
Week 2 brings Aaron Rodgers to Nissan Stadium. That line today would probably be something like Titans +3.5. A big key in that one will be what Rodgers looks like coming off the Achilles injury. Just like with Williams, it is better to get him early in the season than later.

 95.
It’s a Matt LaFleur revenge game in week 3 (OK, not really because LaFleur isn’t seeking any revenge after getting hired away for a better job, but it sounds more fun to call it a revenge game). I’ll put that line at Titans +2.5 today. The Packers were a solid team last year. The hope would be that Tennessee can make a similar jump in 2024 as Green Bay did in 2023.

 96.
The Titans' only primetime game of the season sees them going back to Miami for Monday Night Football. You know the Dolphins and their fans will be hype for that one after the Titans pulled off the big come from behind win down there last year. The Titans are probably about a touchdown underdog there right now. It will be a good test for the Dennard Wilson defense, and you have to feel better about Tennessee’s chances in keeping up in a track meet with Miami this year with Brian Callahan at the helm.

 97.
Knowing what we know right now, I’d be thrilled if the Titans ended September at 2-2.

 117.
The complete 2024 Titans schedule

Schedule release night is always a lot of fun on social. The Tennessee Titans social media team won the night last year. I haven’t had a chance to check them all out this year. Which one was your favorite.

 118.
Anyway, here is the Titans 2024 schedule:

 119.
Week 1 - @ Chicago Bears

 125.
Week 7 - @ Buffalo Bills

 126.
Week 8 - @ Detroit Lions

 127.
Week 9 - vs. New England Patriots

 128.
Week 10 - @ Los Angeles Chargers

 129.
Week 11 - vs. Minnesota Vikings

 130.
Week 12- @ Houston Texans

 131.
Week 13 - Washington Commanders

 132.
Week 14 - vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

 133.
Week 15 - vs. Cincinnati Bengals

 134.
Week 16 - @ Colts

 135.
Week 17 - @ Jaguars

 136.
Week 18 - vs. Texans

 137.
I will have more thoughts on the schedule later on. It is interesting that they end the season with four AFC South games in the last five weeks, and that they don’t play the Jaguars for the first time until December. What initially stands out to you?

 175.
It’s amazing the buzz that the release of the NFL schedule generates. We have known who the Tennessee Titans will be playing in 2024 for 5 months. The only thing we haven’t known is the order in which the Titans will play said opponents. We will find that out tonight at 7 PM central.

 176.
We won’t have to wait that long for at least some of the games. If you are interested rumored leaks, you can follow NFL Schedule Update (@NerdingonNFL). It is a good place to keep track of pretty much everything that is out there.

 177.
The only rumors for the Titans so far are that they will be playing the New York Jets at home in week 2 and at the Detroit Lions in week 8. We will be keeping up with any other leaks that happen today in this thread. We will have everything you need for the full release tonight when it happens.

All of them participated in rookie minicamp. Former Washington Huskies running back Dillon Johnson is arguably the most prolific undrafted prospect to sign in Tennessee.

 220.

 221.

 225.
 226.

 227.
Johnson joins the Titans after playing one season at Washington. Johnson transferred away from Mississippi State in search of a bigger role, and he found it in Washington. Johnson rushed for 1,195 yards and 16 touchdowns for an explosive Huskies offense that helped carry the program to the National Championship. Johnson was a key cog on an offense that featured two top-10 picks in Michael Penix Jr. and Rome Odunze, and also had Troy Fautanu, Jalen McMillan, and Ja’Lynn Polk drafted, among others.

 228.
It was a breakout campaign for Johnson. Johnson also flashed pass-catching potential throughout his career, recording 24 catches at Washington this past season. He previously totaled 149 receptions in three seasons at Mississippi State. That third-down ability will help Johnson push for a role throughout training camp.

 229.
Johnson possesses terrific size for the position at 5-foot-11 and 217 pounds. He displayed outstanding play strength via 24 bench-press reps during the pre-draft testing process. Johnson ran a poor 40-yard dash of 4.68 seconds, but his 10-yard split of 1.57 showcased good initial burst. Testing results indicate Johnson is a below-average athlete, with disappointing vertical (31.5 inches) and broad jump (9-foot-9) results.

 230.

 231.

 232.
Dillon Johnson is a RB prospect in the 2024 draft class. He scored a 6.78 #RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 614 out of 1904 RB from 1987 to 2024. https://t.co/YDVFNvbyEP pic.twitter.com/GM6QkGMRVE
— Kent Lee Platte (@MathBomb) April 16, 2024
 233.

 234.
 235.
 236.

 237.
Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears are going to dominate reps for the Titans at running back, but there is competition for the No. 3 running back spot. Johnson will join fellow undrafted free agent (and former Tennessee Volunteer) Jabari Small, Julius Chestnut, and Hassan Haskins on the list of players competing for what’s probably one roster spot.

 238.
Chestnut has the advantage of experience and familiarity, although the latter matters little with a new coaching staff. Haskins is an excellent special teams player, and the Titans seem willing to give him a second chance after an alleged off-field incident. Johnson possesses the pedigree to compete, but nothing will be handed to him.

 239.

 271.
Nick Vannett should carve out a clear-cut role for himself on the Titans

The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with free-agent tight end Nick Vannett on Monday afternoon. Vannett arrives in Nashville roughly one month after head coach Brian Callahan publicly proclaimed that the team “needed tight ends.” Vannett should carve out a role for himself as the Titans’ TE3 behind Chig Okonkwo and Josh Whyle. He’s a specialist-type player.

 272.

 273.

 274.
Brian Callahan: “We need tight ends.” #Titans pic.twitter.com/ws0Yr01bKg
— Paul Kuharsky (@PaulKuharskyNFL) April 10, 2024
 275.

 276.
 277.
 278.

 279.
The 31-year-old Vannett has recorded just 96 receptions and six touchdowns throughout his eight-year career. Vannett projects as more of a blocking tight end, which was a need on the Titans’ roster behind Okonkwo and Whyle. Remember that role was filled by Trevon Wesco last season, who is no longer with the team.

 280.
Vannett totaled just 125 offensive snaps with the Los Angeles Chargers throughout the 2023 campaign, per Pro Football Focus. According to PFF’s charting, 102 of those snaps were as an in-line tight end. Further breaking it down, Vannett earned 80 snaps as a run blocker, and 14 snaps as an extra pass protector. That left Vannett with just 31 snaps as a potential pass catcher on passing plays. Vannett consistently earned positive grades in pass protection, earning a 73.8 overall grade in pass-pro.

 281.
By comparison, Wesco led all Titans tight ends in blocking duties last season. Of his 423 snaps, Wesco spent 266 of them as a run-blocker, and an additional 108 as an extra blocker in pass protection attached to a leaky Titans offensive line. Wesco totaled 390 snaps specifically as an in-line blocker.
