  217. <description><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><strong>DCIIA Is Hiring: Administrative Associate<br /></strong><br />DCIIA is seeking to fill a full-time position for an individual with excellent project management and organizational skills to support DCIIA’s mission in improving retirement outcomes for America’s workers.<br /><br />Reporting to DCIIA’s VP of Operations, the Administrative Associate role will provide key support in managing organizational structure and communications. The role will help meet objectives through direct management of member and CRM databases.<br /><br /><strong>Responsibilities<br /></strong><br />Lead maintenance and ongoing updates of CRM (customer relationship management) on multiple platforms, including YM and Informz<br />Serve as member inquiry contact for issue resolution and outreach support, managing multiple company email accounts<br />Support planned communications on Informz platform, including creating new templates and updating existing templates<br />Support prospecting efforts<br />Manage ongoing member programs, including applications, approvals, submission tracking, coordination with finance department<br />Serve as technical lead for DCIIA webinars<br />Lead annual DCIIA membership renewal process and member engagement reporting<br />Lead presentation collation and formatting for webinars, Forums, and other events<br />Support regional smaller group events in logistical planning<br />Manage internal Resource Library<br />Support website updates as assigned, including light monthly website audit<br />Other tasks or projects as assigned<br />Work collaboratively with DCIIA stakeholders and in a timely manner</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><br /><strong>Role Qualifications<br /></strong><br />Minimum 3 years of experience in administrative duties<br />Some knowledge of the financial services/retirement industry<br />Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Powerpoint and Excel<br />Familiar with Content Management Systems (CMS), preferably YM (YourMembership) and Informz<br />Proficient with remote-work technology, including Zoom<br />Capacity to organize and execute multiple projects concurrently, at varying stages of completion<br />Superior writing and communication skills<br />Superior organizational skills with an eye for details<br />Proven ability to work within a team<br />Must be self-disciplined yet sufficiently flexible to work with a virtual team, including providing status updates or answering requests within a timely manner<br />Able to work independently and proactively resolve day-to-day issues</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><br /><strong>Work Environment</strong></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 16px;">Team members work remotely from locations of their choosing; DCIIA does not <br />provide office space<br />Team members use their own computer, telephone and office equipment<br />Limited travel may be required to assist and host members at 3-4 annual forums<br />Must be comfortable working independently and using technology to collaborate <br />with team members</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 16px;"><strong>Those interested in applying should send a resume and cover letter in PDF format to info@dciia.org with "Application for Administrative Associate" in the subject line.<br /></strong><br /><strong>Who We Are<br /></strong>We are a non-profit association dedicated to enhancing the retirement security of <br />America’s workers. The report attributes those differences to variations in contribution, loan, and preretirement withdrawal behavior.<br /><br />The <a href="https://www.cfers.org/" target="_blank">Collaborative</a>—including Morningstar Retirement, Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA), and the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program—was formed in 2023 as a multi-stakeholder initiative to understand the complex decisions of savers and make retirement savings more inclusive and efficient.<br /><br />Additional findings from the first report include:</span></p><ul><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">Black and Hispanic females contribute lower percentages of their salaries than their counterparts after controlling for age, salary, tenure, and plan design variables.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">Black and Hispanic workers withdraw a larger portion of their account balances before retirement and take these preretirement withdrawals more frequently than their white counterparts. These differences grow more extreme the closer people get to retirement.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;">Black participants have a higher probability of having an outstanding loan than their white counterparts. At ages 55-59, both Black men and Black women have a 49% probability of having a loan outstanding.</span></li><li><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"></span>The report’s simulation results indicate that eliminating preretirement withdrawals would substantially mitigate race and gender disparities, particularly for early- and mid-career 401(k) participants.</span></li></ul><p><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px;"><br />“It’s well known that there are racial and gender disparities in retirement account balances, but these disparities are not fully explained by different economic circumstances such as income or tenure,” said Jack VanDerhei, director of retirement studies for the Morningstar Center for Retirement &amp; Policy Studies and the report’s lead author. “This paper is the start of a multi-phased effort to model the effects of these disparities and test the effectiveness of different steps employers and policymakers could take. Our initial findings suggest that reducing preretirement withdrawals can significantly narrow racial and gender disparities in 401(k) outcomes.”<br /><br />“Through CFERS, we are working to ensure that retirement plan participants can reach their retirement and broader financial goals. Examining the retirement savings data, and the underlying behaviors, around the existing disparities has unveiled preliminary insights that will help the retirement savings system evolve to address the racial and gender wealth gap,” said Lew Minsky, president and chief executive officer of DCIIA.<br /><br />“Retirement savings are the second largest source of household wealth in the U.S., which means that our efforts to close larger racial and gender wealth gaps require a retirement savings system that works for everyone,” said Karen Biddle Andres, director of impact strategy and partnerships at the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program. “This report signals that minor plan and benefit changes can likely translate to significant increases in the retirement savings balances of Black and Hispanic households in particular. Continuing this level of cross-sector collaboration, testing, and innovation will help our retirement savings system realize its promise in Americans’ financial lives.”<br /><br />The Collaborative’s first publication is focused on its first two of five phases of analysis. The five phases are: identifying existing racial and gender disparities in account balances after controlling for salary and tenure; identifying the causes of such disparities by analyzing race/gender differences in participation, contribution, asset allocation, and loan and preretirement withdrawal behavior; incorporating a stochastic accumulation model to show how these disparities will evolve by retirement age; focusing on how plan design, benefit, and policy changes are likely to influence disparities; and incorporating the stochastic decumulation module from the Morningstar Model of U.S. Retirement Outcomes to allow for the analysis of various risk management techniques.   1086. <description><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: 16px;">The RRC is pleased to announce the publication of Phase One of a partner project with SPARK Institute. This study, “<a href="https://cdn.ymaws.com/dciia.org/resource/resmgr/rrc_media/projects_2022/DCIIA-RRC-SPARKDataPrivacy_0.pdf" target="_blank">Understanding Data Privacy Sensitivities Across the Defined Contribution Industry</a>,” explores the current state and disagreements around data privacy within the defined contribution industry. <br /><br />The report provides insights on how plan sponsors can better protect participant data and ensure their information is secure. Through surveys and interviews with plan sponsors and service providers, the report offers unique insights into the perspective and practices across different industry practitioners as well as guidance on the complex landscape of data privacy regulations. <br /><br />The findings highlight the importance of data security and the need for standardized solutions to maintain participant trust and confidence in retirement plans while facilitating value-add features such as Financial Wellness programs and services. The DCIIA RRC is grateful to all contributors for sharing their time and expertise in producing this report. <br /><br />Phase Two of this study is currently underway to examine pragmatic, feasible standardization solutions with operational guardrails to implement them. This timely conversation will continue at the DCIIA/SPARK Public Policy Forum, with a special half day focus on data the morning of June 7th.   1094. <description><![CDATA[<p><span style="font-size: 16px;">The "<a href="https://buildcommonwealth.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/CW_Incentives-to-Increase-Emergency-Savings-Enrollment.pdf" target="_blank">Incentives to Increase Emergency Savings Enrollment</a>" report, by Commonwealth and the DCIIA RRC, examines the role of small-dollar emergency savings incentives in promoting financial resiliency and preserving retirement savings. <br /><br />The report focuses on workers earning low to moderate incomes, particularly those who are Black, Latinx, and/or female, and explores how offering <em>small-dollar incentives</em> ($10, $15, $25) could influence demand for employer-sponsored emergency savings plans. Survey respondents were asked about their likelihood to engage with ES plans with rewards options for:<br /></span></p><ul><li><span style="font-size: 16px;">Achieving a savings goal</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 16px;">Saving consistently</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 16px;">Matching savings</span></li></ul><p><span style="font-size: 16px;"><br />With the recent passage of emergency savings provisions in the SECURE 2.0 Act and the growing number of employers launching new emergency savings solutions, this report provides important insights into how to engage and meet the needs of populations earning LMI.<br /><br />This report is a part of an ongoing research collaboration with Commonwealth. To some extent, hiring such third-party providers can mitigate the fiduciary liability exposure of the plan’s fiduciaries, including potential lawsuits.
