As the media industry watches what Bari Weiss will do as editor in chief of CBS News, a blockbuster report from inside the network reveals Weiss has already rankled veterans at the network’s flagship news show.

According to a Sunday feature by Michael M. Grynbaum and Benjamin Mullin in The New York Times, Weiss put staffers at 60 Minutes on edge by asking: “Why does the country think you’re biased?”

“The inquiry was met with stunned awkwardness, according to three people who recounted details from the private session in Midtown Manhattan,” Grynbaum and Mullin wrote. “The staff of ’60 Minutes,’ the nation’s most-watched news program, view their coverage as firmly nonpartisan and reject criticism from President [Donald] Trump and his allies who argue that it has a liberal slant.”

Weiss has already rocked the boat quite a bit since taking the top job at CBS News on Oct. 6. Grynbaum and Mullin report that she has been “impressing some” top CBS news executives and talent, and “confounding others.”

She is also said to be displeased by leaks from inside her new shop. The Times report revealed Weiss has been “urging executives to identify the leakers in the newsroom.”

And Weiss has personally gotten involved with some high-profile bookings which — notably — involve right-leaning newsmakers.

“Ms. Weiss, an ardent supporter of Israel … helped book an interview with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister,” Grynbaum and Mullin wrote. “She later worked with ’60 Minutes’ producers to land Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, the architects of President Trump’s Middle East peace plan, for this Sunday’s episode.”

Grynbaum and Mullin say there is optimism among some in the newsroom, along with the skepticism from others:

At her meeting with the staff of “60 Minutes,” Ms. Weiss asked about adding new contributors to the show’s on-air lineup, creating “60 Minutes”-branded live events and embracing digital platforms like YouTube, according to people familiar with her remarks.

“Some staff members are hopeful that Ms. Weiss will bring some needed energy and ideas to a news division that has struggled to adapt to the digital age,” they wrote. “Her interest in big interviews and bigger audiences has buoyed some CBS journalists, who think their network, which has cycled through five presidents in five years, needs a shake-up.”

Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst reported that it was “not good news” coming out of Israel Sunday morning after Hamas violated the ceasefire agreement, according to the Israeli Defense Forces.

“The Israeli military is currently striking the Gaza Strip,” Yingst began. “They say Hamas violated the ceasefire agreement. I spoke with one military official who said two separate attacks took place inside Israeli controlled territory. One of them an RPG attack and the other a sniper attack conducted by Hamas.”

Yingst said most of the strikes took place in the southernmost Gazan city of Rafa, “but there is at least one report of a strike in the northern part of the enclave.”

Yingst said it was a “difficult moment for Israeli forces having to make a decision about whether or not to start striking Gaza again.”

The IDF posted Sunday, “In response to Hamas’ blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement this morning, the IDF struck dozens of Hamas terror targets across Gaza. The strikes targeted weapons storage facilities, firing posts, terrorist cells and additional Hamas terror infrastructure. In addition, the IDF struck and dismantled ~6 km of underground terrorist infrastructure, used to advance attacks against Israel, using over 120 munitions.”

In a second post, the IDF included video of “several armed terrorists” who were “approaching IDF forces operating in the Beit Lahia area behind the yellow line.” The IDF wrote that the insurgents posed “an immediate threat to the troops” and were “struck.”

The U.S. State Department issued a statement overnight, saying, “The United States has informed the guaranteed nations of the Gaza peace agreement of credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.”

Yingst said the events have brought about two separate issues: “One, an attack by Hamas overnight on Israeli forces within the Gaza Strip, and two, a warning from the U.S. State Department that Hamas is planning to target Palestinian civilians or the forces that are currently opposing their rule inside Gaza.”

President Donald Trump has threatened to allow Israel to “finish the job” and put an end to Hamas if the terror group doesn’t stop its attacks.

Hollywood legend Robert De Niro lambasted President Donald Trump as an “alien” who has “no empathy” and wants to destroy the country he runs during a scathing rant on MSNBC’s The Weekend on Sunday morning.

The Raging Bull star also gave kudos to California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and a number of other top Democrats, before letting an F-bomb fly on live TV as he praised New York City Attorney General Letitia James.

“Hakeem Jeffries, I like. Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, they’re all great, strong. I like what Letitia James is doing. She’s fighting back. She’s saying, f*ck you!” De Niro said.

The expletive sounded like it rattled co-hosts Eugene Daniels and Jonathan Capehart off-camera, with one of them letting out an “Oop!”

“I’m sorry, this is where we’re at,” De Niro continued, while holding his hand to his chest. “It’s what she’s saying, ‘This is it. I will not be taken down by this person. I am not afraid of him.’ And God bless her for that.”

He added ICE agents — or “those ICE guys,” as De Niro put it — “better not mess” with James.

His support for James comes a few weeks after she was indicted on criminal charges related to mortgage fraud. James previously led a civil fraud trial against Trump; he was ordered to pay more than $350 million in 2024, but the massive financial penalty was tossed by a New York appeals court in August.

De Niro made a number of other incendiary remarks during his appearance on MSNBC.

He branded the president’s senior advisor Stephen Miller a “Nazi” and compared him to Adolf Hitler’s chief propagandist, Joseph Goebbels, despite Miller being Jewish.

The longtime lefty and Casino star also urged Americans to “strap on their balls” and continue protesting, like they did on Saturday at the nationwide “No Kings” rallies. Americans have to keep “fighting” back against Trump, he said, because he predicted Trump will not leave the White House in 2028 — even though he exited after his first term.

“We can’t let up. Because he’s not gonna leave the White House. He does not want to leave the White House, he will not leave the White House,” De Niro said. “Anybody who thinks ‘Oh, he’ll do this, he’ll do that,’ is just deluding themselves — The Republicans most of all. Because they know, but they’re going along with it. Classic bully situation.”

You can watch his comments on James above, via MSNBC.

The post Robert De Niro Praises Letitia James for Saying ‘F*ck You’ to Trump in MSNBC Tirade first appeared on Mediaite.

Disgraced ex-congressman George Santos (R-NY) appeared on Fox & Friends Weekend Sunday fresh out of prison to explain why he deserved the commutation of his sentence granted by President Donald Trump.

Santos was originally sentenced to just over seven years in federal prison in April, but is now out after serving fewer than three months.

Trump posted to Truth Social on Friday night, saying, “George Santos was somewhat of a ‘rogue,’ but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren’t forced to serve seven years in prison…George has been in solitary confinement for long stretches of time and, by all accounts, has been horribly mistreated. Therefore, I just signed a Commutation, releasing George Santos from prison, IMMEDIATELY. Good luck George, have a great life!”

Fox co-host Charlie Hurt asked Santos on Sunday, “So, You were convicted of identity theft and wire fraud, basically misusing donor funds for personal reasons. Why shouldn’t you have served out your full term?”

“I understand people want to make this into a ‘He’s getting away with it,'” Santos began. “I’m not getting away with it. I was the first person to ever federal prison for the civil FEC violation. These are usually solved and penalties, and I don’t want to focus on trying to rehash the past. I want to take the experience and do good and move on with the future.”

Santos continued, “Repentance is an understatement. It’s like, I have been dealt a second chance. I have a lot to prove to a lot of people and after make sure President Trump understands that I’m not going to disappoint him.”

Santos said he had no immediate plans to run for Congress, but he’s not “ruling it out.” He added that he planned to work on prison reform and to help the people who are being “absolutely drowned with this arbitrary sentencing style of judges who were trying to circumvent the First Step Act,” signed by Trump in 2018 to reduce recidivism.

Hollywood icon Robert De Niro branded Stephen Miller, President Donald Trump’s senior advisor, a “Nazi,” despite Miller being Jewish, during a savage rant on MSNBC’s The Weekend on Sunday.

The Goodfellas star made the comment in response to co-host Jonathan Capehart asking him about his claim, a moment earlier on the show, that Trump will not leave the White House in 2028. Capehart said he was on the same “wavelength” as De Niro and agreed with him, before the actor compared Miller to Joseph Goebbels, the high-ranking Nazi leader and chief propagandist for Adolf Hitler.

“No way! We see it we see it we see it all the time — he will not want to leave. He set it up with, I guess he’s the Goebbels of the cabinet, Stephen Miller. He’s a Nazi,” De Niro said. “Yes, he is, and he should be ashamed of himself!”

Miller is, among other responsibilities, leading the Trump Administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

Capehart did not push back on De Niro’s comment. Instead, he moved to a question about Trump’s White House posting a picture on X of him and Vice President JD Vance wearing crowns, in response to the “No Kings” protests on Saturday. The picture also included Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) wearing sombreros.

“It’s all nonsense. We know it’s all racist. I mean, that’s what he appeals to, that’s what Trump is,” De Niro said.

De Niro said there is no other option but to keep “fighting and pushing” until Trump is forced out of the White House, because he won’t want to leave, even though he did in 2020, De Niro added.

His rant included other notable moments, including when he called Trump an “alien” who has “no empathy.” The president, De Niro told MSNBC, wants to destroy the very country he runs, saying he wants to “hurt” the USA.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was put on the spot, Sunday, about being on the receiving end of a cutting barb from President Donald Trump.

Appearing on NBC’s Meet the Press, Paul was confronted by Kristen Welker about a Friday night Truth Social post in which Trump delivered a pointed shot to the Kentucky senator.

“[Trump] said, ‘Whatever happened to Senator Rand Paul? He was never great, but he went really bad. I got him elected twice in the great commonwealth of Kentucky, but he just never votes positively for the Republican Party. He’s a nasty little guy.'” Welker said — reading directly from the Truth Social post. “Why do you think President Trump is targeting you, Senator?”

Paul smirked at the question, and tried to downplay the president’s comments.

“I think the problem is this — is that in Washington, what I represent some people describe as unusual,” Paul said. “And the president describes it as weird that I’m for less debt and balanced budget. But when I come home to Kentucky or when I travel the United States, people come up to me and say, ‘Stick to your guns. You’re the only voice up there, Republican or Democrat, who’s still talking about the debt and still talking about balanced budgets.’ But I don’t take it too seriously.

“Look, I’ve known the president for over a decade. I’ve played golf with him many, many times. I enjoy his company. I was one of his biggest defenders on impeachment and would do so again. I think he’s one of the best presidents, if not the best president of my lifetime. But it doesn’t mean I will sit quietly and say, ‘Oh well, whatever you want to do.’ I was elected to have a voice, and so I continue to be a voice, like on the bombing of the Venezuelan boats. I think that’s inappropriate. War with Venezuela without Congress’s opinion or Congress’s weighing in and authorization is inappropriate. The tariffs are bad for the economy. But it doesn’t mean I dislike Donald Trump. So he gets mad at me sometimes, but I’m still one of he’s best supporters if he’s willing to have it.”

Indeed Paul went further on his criticism of the Trump-authorized military strikes on suspected drug boats in Venezuela

“Do you believe that these strikes against these suspected drug boats are legal?” Welker asked.

“No, they go against all of our tradition,” Paul said. “When you kill someone, you should know — if you’re not at war, not in a declared war — you really need to know someone’s name at least. You have to accuse them of something. You have to present evidence. So all of these people have been blown up without us knowing their name, without any evidence of a crime.”

ABC’s Jon Karl battled House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Sunday, about Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth amid the widely-criticized new Pentagon press policy.

In a robust debate on ABC’s This Week, Karl took the House Speaker to task about Hegseth banning press from the Pentagon if they did not comply with a series of restrictions on their access. (Every major news organization declined to comply with the restrictions, with only far-right network OAN and several other fringe outlets agreeing. The outlets turned in their credentials on Wednesday and no longer have access to the Pentagon.)

“Do you have a sense for why the secretary of Defense seems to be afraid to interact with journalists who cover him?” Karl asked.

“I reject the premise,” Johnson replied. “Fear is not part of the Secretary of War’s make-up, OK?”

“I mean, the guy’s only had two briefings since he … became secretary of Defense,” Karl shot back.

“He’s very transparent,” Johnson claimed.

“And they’ve basically forced the Pentagon press out of the building unless they would agree to sign a pledge that would make it impossible to be independent journalists,” Karl said.

Johnson argued that Hegseth’s public speeches are indicative of his transparency.

“I can’t remember, and I don’t think you can either, a Secretary of Defense who has been so transparent, out in the open, talking about priorities, principles and things,” Johnson said.

Karl countered by noting that it’s one thing to deliver prepared remarks, and another to take questions from the press.

“I traveled around the world with Secretaries of Defense,” Karl said. “I interviewed them. I questioned them in the Briefing Room. Other reporters did as well.

“But did all those secretaries… come out and do public speeches as often as Hegseth does?” Johnson said. “To be everywhere all the time among the troops?”

“Public speeches?!” Karl said. “Answering questions!”

Former congressman George Santos — newly-released from prison after his sentence was commuted — bristled at the suggestion he got favorable treatment from President Donald Trump.

Appearing on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, Santos was asked by anchor Dana Bash whether he was surprised Trump decided to grant him clemency. The former congressman revealed the shocking manner in which he learned he was about to go free.

“I had no expectations,” Santos said. “I wasn’t even aware until I learned it off of the chyron of mainstream media inside of the prison myself.”

Bash then questioned Santos — who was sentenced to 87 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud — about the notion that he got preferential treatment from the president.

“When he announced your commutation, President Trump praised you for having, ‘the courage, conviction, and intelligence to always vote Republican,'” Bash said. “There are a lot of people who are really unhappy about your commutation because they see it as President Trump giving favorable treatment to you because you’re a loyal ally of his.”

Santos was visibly irritated by the question. Here was his response:

You know what? I say this — and I hate that we have to go down this road. And then there’s a lot of people who were upset with President Biden who pardoned his entire family before he left office in an unprecedented move! So pardon me if I’m not paying too much attention to the pearl-clutching of the outrage of my critics and of the people, predominantly on the left, who are going to go out there and try to make a big deal out of something like this.

“It is known that presidents have the power of the pardon and the clemency — which are plenary, and they’re extended at their will. President Biden pardoned his son after he said he wouldn’t! I didn’t see outrage! I mean, some of your colleagues… there was some outrage because there was a lot of people literally licking their wounds, because they had said, ‘you see, he’s magnanimous and he’s not going to do it. He’s all about the right thing.’ So he lied.

“So I’m not going debate this, but I’m going to say, look, there’s always going to be critics. People are going to like me. People are gonna hate me. It doesn’t matter whoever gets clemency in the future, or whoever that person might be. I’m pretty confident if President Trump had pardoned Jesus Christ off the cross, he would have had critics. So that’s just the reality of our country.”

“All right,” Bash said. “I’m going to skip over that analogy.”

Watch above, via CNN.

The post George Santos Gets His Back Up When Confronted on CNN About Trump Giving Him ‘Favorable Treatment’: My Critics Are ‘Pearl-Clutching’ first appeared on Mediaite.

Saturday saw the latest No Kings protests draw a reported 7 million peaceful demonstrators around the nation. That’s very good for organizers, as attendance is growing. But this might also be a problem.

Not because the marchers aren’t sincere—they are. Not because moral clarity doesn’t matter—it does. But because every protest that doesn’t lead to organization might be worse than no protest at all. It gives the feeling of agency without the fact of it. It lets us post, share, and check the box marked “I did something,” while the machinery of power keeps humming, unbothered.

This is the trap of protest in the age of the algorithm. It’s not that demonstrations are performative—all politics involves performance—but the performance has become the point. The march happens, the signs get photographed, the videos go viral, and everyone goes home feeling like they participated in democracy. Meanwhile, nothing changes except your feed, which has already moved on.

Trump figured this out long before this dynamic had a name. It isn’t an ideology—it’s a social media hack. It uses the same viral mechanics that fuel resistance: outrage, attention, emotional velocity. You don’t need to silence dissent when you can let it dissipate on its own. Every protest becomes a pressure valve, releasing energy that might otherwise build into something lasting.

Political scientist Zeynep Tufekci calls this “tactical freeze”—the paralysis that follows a viral high. The Women’s March drew four million people and built no durable structure. Occupy Wall Street absolutely electrified a generation and entirely evaporated. The pattern repeats because we’ve mistaken visibility for power, attention for infrastructure.

The movements that actually changed the country—civil rights, labor, suffrage—understood something we’ve forgotten. They built institutions that endured between spectacles: voter drives when no cameras were rolling, legal strategies that took years, local chapters meeting in church basements doing the slow, unglamorous work of accumulating power one conversation at a time. The March on Washington was an exclamation point on a sentence that took a decade to write. The march was the culmination, not the plan.

Disclosure: I was curious about the No Kings protest and considered covering it, but I didn’t attend. I know my misanthropic streak in crowds—and I’d likely have come away more pro-King than I’d like. Also, my beloved Arsenal were away at Fulham at the same time.

Trump’s allies aren’t marching—they’ve long been organizing. They’re on school boards, election commissions, and state legislatures. They’re passing laws, installing loyalists, dismantling oversight. They’re disciplined, hierarchical, relentless. The progressive movement is networked, expressive, and episodic. MAGA has been hard at work building a movement while progressives seem content in posting a cleaver sign on Instagram.

The infrastructure for genuine resistance exists—it’s just scattered. Groups like Protect Democracy are training election defenders. The States Project is funding down-ballot races that decide who counts votes. Local organizers are still doing the fieldwork after 2020, mapping precincts, registering voters, recruiting volunteers. What’s missing is coordination and the willingness to do what doesn’t photograph well.

That means message discipline—turning outrage into concrete demands: repeal Schedule F, defend state election autonomy, restore independent inspectors general. It means emotional infrastructure: phone banks, legal trainings, Tuesday night meetings with eighteen people, because eighteen people is enough to flip a precinct.

And maybe it means escalation. Some, like Scott Galloway, have started saying the quiet part out loud: the next step isn’t another march, it’s a national strike. General strikes impose real costs—economic and political consequences that can’t be scrolled past. They demand the very qualities the algorithm erodes: coordination, endurance, the ability to act when the cameras are gone.

The marchers are virtuous; they showed moral clarity when cynicism was easier. But virtue without strategy is performance—and performance without follow-through is paralysis. The crowd made noise. Now it has to make demands—and back them with something more than Saturday’s turnout.

The algorithm rewards the spectacular. Power respects the organized. Until we learn the difference, every protest is just another form of pacification.

The post The No Kings Protests Were Great for Social Media — Not for Meaningful Change first appeared on Mediaite.

Saturday Night Live mostly stayed apolitical this week — with pop star Sabrina Carpenter hosting and many of the sketches centering on her. But Weekend Update devoted a meaty chunk of its segment to President Donald Trump and various others in his political orbit over the past few days.

In a four-minute mid-show sequence on Saturday, Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che took turns razzing Trump — with Jost starting off by hitting the president’s commutation of George Santos’s prison sentence.

“Yesterday, President Trump finally released what everyone has been asking him to release — George Santos,” Jost cracked, with a nod to the still-hidden DOJ files on Jeffrey Epstein.

https://x.com/nbcsnl/status/1979770751105527906

Jost went on to target Santos over his penchant for bending the truth.

“Santos says that he’s a changed man and even released a photo of his new prison body,” Jost said — as a photoshopped image showing Santos to be comically buff was posted on screen.

Che, for his part, poked fun at an image of Trump on the cover of Time magazine in which Trump’s neck was prominently featured from an awkward angle.

“President Trump criticized Time magazine for using a bad picture of him on the cover, saying, ‘they disappeared my hair,'” Che said — as the shot switched to a close-up of the president’s neck. “And I gotta agree — that thing do look waxed.

And Jost called out the Trump DOJ’s indictment of former National Security Advisor John Bolton — noting that Bolton “has become the third person on President Trump’s enemies list to be indicted. And you know you aren’t living your life right when you keep an actual list of your enemies…At least, that’s what my therapist told me…So now she’s on the list, too.”

President Donald Trump posted a bizarre AI video to Truth Social, late Saturday, in which he’s seen dropping feces on “No Kings” protesters from a fighter jet.

In the stunning 19-second clip, the president — donned in a king’s crown — is seen flying a fighter jet to the tune of Danger Zone, the iconic song from the soundtrack of Top Gun. The video then pans out to show the plane — which has the words “King Trump” written on its side — dropping massive amounts of excrement on a target which quickly reveals itself to be New York City.

The clip then cuts to a close-up of left-wing influencer Harry Sisson (incorporating real footage Sisson posted from the “No Kings” protest in New York). The airdropped feces is then seen dousing Sisson, and scores of other protesters marching in the streets of the Big Apple.

The video drew a swift rebuke from the left. Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) posted on X, “But seriously why would the President post an image on the Internet of airdropping feces on American cities?”

And Sisson, for his part, was perplexed as well.

Conservative media star Matt Walsh blasted New York City mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani (D) for criticizing his competitor, Andrew Cuomo (D), for not being able to name a single mosque, with Walsh saying he is “not even going to tolerate this” because it is the next step towards Islam being forced upon American citizens.

Walsh ripped Mamdani on the Friday episode of his podcast, The Matt Walsh Show, which is part of Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire network. Mamdani, a night earlier, skewered Cuomo during a debate, saying he had ignored Muslims until Mamdani beat him in the June Democratic primary.

“It took Andrew Cuomo being beaten by a Muslim candidate in the Democratic primary for him to set foot in a mosque,” Mamdani said.

Walsh said this line of attack would have been unbelievable to anyone in 2002, a year after Muslim terrorists, as he mockingly put it, “rearranged” the Manhattan skyline.

But in 2025, Walsh said, leftists not only want you to “tolerate” their positions or beliefs on topics like trans rights — the next steps are “affirmation, celebration, [and] participation.”

The podcaster said you can count him out on participating in anything Islam-related.

“You know what, I’m not even going to tolerate this. I am actively opposed to this. I think it’s bad. I don’t want it in my community, and I don’t want it in my country,” Walsh said. “We need to be intolerant. Intolerance is a virtue. Intolerance is good, intolerance is holy, intolerance is Christian, intolerance is moral and courageous.”

He added intolerance is “loving” to your family, country, and way of life in America.

Walsh said, a moment earlier, that he is not really interested in defending Cuomo. But that he felt this was a “significant moment” in American politics that showed a bizarre shift, where politicians will now have to conform to Muslim culture, rather than Muslim immigrants assimilating to American culture.

Mamdani, during an interview with Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum on Wednesday, refused to say Hamas should disarm; he also said he would “exhaust every legal option” to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu, if he is elected NYC’s mayor.

You can watch his full segment on Mamdani above, via YouTube.

The post ‘Intolerance is a Virtue’: Matt Walsh Slams Zohran Mamdani for Shaming Cuomo Over Islam first appeared on Mediaite.

McConnell took a tumble this week while walking through the Senate Russell Building basement, the moment caught on video by activists who were trying to ask him questions about ICE raids.

MSNBC interviewed one No Kings organizer on Saturday who said that if people like House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) want to rip the protestors as Antifa members, she will wear it as a badge of honor, because she is “proud” to say the attendees are fighting back against President Donald Trump’s “fascist government.”

Reporter Nnamdi Egwuonwu, during a live hit from Houston on MSNBC Reports, spoke to a woman only identified as “Bethany,” who is an organizer with 50501, one of the groups spearheading the nationwide No Kings rallies.

Egwuonwu asked Bethany for her “response” to Republicans who said the attendees were “anti-American” and members of Antifa. Bethany laughed, said that is “silly,” but that yes, according to the “definition” of it, the protestors were certainly Antifa.

“Obviously, if you look at the definition of it, Antifa, anti-fascist — I’ve spoke to a couple of veterans who said that’s literally what they fought against. They are anti-fascist. So I think I should be proud to say that the people out here are Antifa,” Bethany said. “We don’t agree with the fascist government.”

Bethany did not mention what aspects of the Trump Administration in particular she believed were fascist.

MSNBC’s question for her — and Bethany’s response — comes a few days after Johnson mockingly dubbed the protests as the “We Hate America Rally.” Johnson predicted the second No Kings event — just like the first one back in June — would be littered with a bunch of communists and terrorist supporters who loathe their own country.

“I encourage you to watch — we call it the ‘Hate America Rally’ — that’ll happen Saturday,” Johnson said on Wednesday. “Let’s see who shows up for that. I bet ya see pro-Hamas supporters, I bet you you see Antifa-types, I bet ya see the Marxists in full display. The people who don’t want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic.”

The 50501 group’s website said it is dedicated to protests that are against the “anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies.” The featured image on its site includes a picture of a protest where one attendee is holding a sign with Trump’s picture on it that said “impeach the b*tch,” and another sign that said “Trump: enemy of the people.”

Fox News’s The Big Weekend Show had some ideas about who was behind Saturday’s “No Kings” protests that took place in an estimated 2,600 locations across the country in what organizers said could be the “largest protest in US history” in a single day.

And one Fox News contributor suggested protestors did not mind having a king at all — as long as it was a “leftist king” like ex-President Joe Biden. More on that in a moment.

Johnny Joey Jones claimed on Saturday a lot of “groups people” believed the crowds included “paid protesters, and it looks that way.”

The co-hosts then took a shot at their favorite “deep state” figure, billionaire George Soros.

“Some of the groups backing today’s ‘No Kings’ protests include the American Federation of Teachers and Planned Parenthood, but also many funded by George Soros. President Trump plans to revamp the IRS investigation into dark money mega-donors like George Soros himself. The far-left billionaire funnels money to protesters through his Open Society Foundation, which distributes cash to Invisible, a group that mobilizes protesters.”

Jones added that he read a social media post about “every single way that a Soros dollar goes through organizations and ends up in some places labeled terrorist organizations.”

Fox News contributor Kaylee McGhee White then said that’s why it was important that the Trump administration “designated antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.”

She continued:

It signals they are trying to get to the bottom of that funding, as well. This isn’t just a rogue group of actors; it’s being organized, it’s being coordinated and most importantly, it’s being funded. And the question we need to ask ourselves…is what is it really about? And I think in particular this No Kings protests, regardless of who it’s backed by, is not in opposition to a king. It’s actually advocating for a leftist king. That’s what they want, they want someone like Joe Biden. You know, they want that back, and I think that’s really what we need to be telling ourselves here.

CNN Correspondent Julia Vargas Jones reported she was seeing “a lot of Mexican and Mexican-American flags” at the No Kings rally in Los Angeles on Saturday — symbolizing, she said, that attendees were proud of their ethnic heritage but also wanted to protest President Donald Trump’s “authoritarian government.”

Vargas Jones shared her insight as rally-goers with American flags and Mexican flags walked behind her during a live shot on CNN Newsroom on Saturday afternoon. She pointed out to anchor Jessica Dean there was an attendee with a half-Mexican, half-American flag and another with a half-Ecuadoran, half-American flag walking by.

“A lot of people here are saying that they are so proud of their heritage — whatever it is, from whatever country from Latin America they are [from] — but that they are also very much proud Americans, that this is an exercise in patriotism, Jessica,” Vargas Jones said. “They’re saying they are coming out here today to defend American democracy from what they see is an authoritarian government.”

The flags were mixed among the “witty signs” and “funny costumes” that many attendees brought to the LA No Kings rally, Vargas Jones added.

And speaking of funny costumes, MSNBC reporter Jacob Soboroff interviewed a woman in a bear outfit and a man in a unicorn outfit at the same rally a little earlier in the day.

“We’re here peacefully protesting, looking as ridiculous as we can, just so maybe we appeal to the president. Because he is a ridiculous leader that is normalizing abuse of power, and we cannot stand and act like nothing is happening,” the man in the unicorn costume told MSNBC.

Vargas Jones, during her live hit on CNN, said event organizers expected 100,000 people to show up in LA, but that so far, she had “only seen a fraction of that number.”

Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) posted a video tour of her new office to show House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) why she can’t get down to business for her constituents.

Critics claim Johnson has been delaying Grijalva’s swearing in since she was elected nearly a month ago to fill her late-father’s congressional seat. Grijalva believes it’s because she has vowed she will be the 218th petition signer needed to get Congress to demand the Epstein files.

“Look at what happened,” Grijalva said at the start of her video, which she posted to X on Thursday. “We got access to the office. Check out this super cool printer. I can’t print to it, though, because I don’t have a government email.”

She continued, “So, in the office, we have several desktops. But they have an administrator passcode and I don’t have that. Check out this cool stack of laptops. Guess what? I can’t unlock them.”

“So, I found this stack of flags that we came into the office, so if you’re waiting for from Arizona CD7, I’m sorry, I don’t have a budget to be able to mail these to you.”

Grijalva concluded, “Yes, I have access to an office, but it’s kind of like someone saying, ‘Here’s a car, and it doesn’t have an engine, gas, or tires.”

Johnson was recently confronted by Fox News about the situation.

“She doesn’t know how it works around here. We’re going to give her the oath of office as soon as we get back to regular session,” Johnson said.

He then told CNBC, “In the meantime, she can be working for her constituents. She has hired staff.
Actor John Cusack had a message for President Donald Trump and his “masked goons” on behalf of his hometown of Chicago: “Go to hell!”

Cusask, during a brief interview with CNN on Saturday at the No Kings rally in Chicago, blasted the president — something he has enjoyed doing frequently over the last decade. In particular, the High Fidelity star told reporter Whitney Wild he was upset about Trump sending Border Patrol and ICE agents to the city to deport illegal immigrants.

“Everyone knows the score, right? The authoritarians divide and conquer and they create an ‘other’ and then they pick on it, pick on the person, harass them, jail them, and that’s all used as a direction so they can steal as much as they can [and] maintain power,” Cusack said. “We all know history. So, that’s what he’s doing, and we have masked goons roaming the streets, hiding their faces, abducting people.”

Cusack, in a different clip shared by CNN later, told the president to go to hell, before adding Trump was ignorant of Chicago’s liberal history.

“What’s interesting is that he doesn’t understand that all the labor rights around the world came from this town, this place,” Cusack said. “So if he thinks this place is going to be a fascist hub – no chance.”

This was not the first time Cusack has skewered the president. Cusack has been doing it for years on X, where he has called Trump an “idiot sociopath” and a “deranged criminal Nazi,” among other insults.

Cusack, on Saturday, also gave Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) kudos for fighting back against Trump’s “fascism.”

Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) have both vocally opposed the president’s use of ICE and Border Patrol agents, as well as his deployment of the National Guard to Chicago, with Pritzker recently saying the president is “inciting” citizens to violence against federal agents.

Cusack speaking to CNN is a bit ironic, though, when you consider he blasted the channel on Election Day 2024:

Things got a bit surreal at the No Kings rally in Los Angeles on Saturday, with MSNBC reporter Jacob Soboroff at one point interviewing an attendee in a Bear costume and another in a Unicorn outfit back-to-back live on air.

“I’ve never interviewed a unicorn live on MSNBC,” Soboroff joked, while laughing as he pulled the unicorn in for a Q-and-A.

“Well, there’s always a first time for everything,” the man in the unicorn outfit told him.

The unicorn said there was a good reason for the goofball outfit, though — he wanted to grab President Donald Trump’s attention.

“We’re here peacefully protesting, looking as ridiculous as we can, just so maybe we appeal to the president. Because he is a ridiculous leader that is normalizing abuse of power, and we cannot stand and act like nothing is happening.”

Soboroff, a moment later, said “you’re having fun, but you’re taking this very seriously.”

The unicorn said “a few tears come out now and then,” because he is sad to know “people are hiding in [their] homes, terrified that their families are broken” because of federal immigration officers, apparently.

And right before talking to the unicorn, Soboroff talked to a woman in a full bear outfit. The woman inside, Paula, said “water breaks are important” and that she had a little fan inside to help her beat the SoCal heat.

“I’m not a radical. I’m just here to promote democracy and no kings,” Paula the Bear told Soboroff, after he asked if she was part of Antifa or a “radical.”

“Not Antifa inside the bear,” Soboroff reported back to MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle.

Later, after wrapping his interview with the unicorn, Soboroff said it was “not a bad strategy” to dress ridiculously in order to protest the president.

>Ruhle added it looked like a “profound” event. The LA protest is among a number of others in major cities across the U.S. on Saturday.

In related news, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) ripped Trump, as well as Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, at the Washington, D.C. rally, and MSNBC reported the New York City protest was bigger than the first rally in June.<

Michael Smerconish took Eric Trump to task Saturday, asking why the president doesn’t turn his energy toward major domestic issues affecting average Americans, which would require cooperation with the Democrats.

The CNN host began by complimenting Donald Trump’s foreign policy wins, and said he admired Trump’s “hustle.”

“In the book you call him, I think, the Energizer Bunny in a red tie,” Smerconish said, referring to Eric Trump’s new book about his famous family.

“But my serious point is to say that hustle — why isn’t it applying to some of these major domestic issues? I’m thrilled with what he’s doing abroad, but whether it’s the debt, whether it’s it’s health care longterm, whether it’s dealing with 10 million people here longterm, like, why can’t we address that now while he has the House of Representatives, the Senate and the White House?” he asked.

Eric Trump went on to mention all the policies his dad has to “fix” from the Biden administration, before taking aim at cities like Chicago that are run by Democrats.

“I’m just, I want to see the art of the deal for compromise,” Smerconish said. “I am all about building bridges and putting people together, and there’s just too much antagonism going both ways. I truly want to talk about the book, but if you have a final comment on what I just said about I want ‘Trump the bridge builder,’ and some people think I’m high when I say that, but that’s what I want to see.”

“Yeah, listen, my father would love nothing more than cooperation, and he has never gotten cooperation,” Eric Trump said before airing a list of grievances about “lawfare.”

He added, “Michael, it’s awfully hard to do when you’ve spent the last 10 years trying to destroy a person, and their family, and a nation, and their movement — it’s really hard to sit down.”
