Technology is the energy that drives our lives. It runs in the veins of society. Technology is related with innovation and creativity. It transforms ideas and thoughts into reality and into something that is helpful to society and human life. It has brought luxury and benefit to an average person’s life. The level of automation that technology has brought about has saved time and human effort to a great extent. It has simplified the access to information and brought distant places closer.Technology has automated crucial industrial as well as household processes. The gadgets have penetrated into our homes and have saved us from household chores. Now machines are executing various mundane jobs that once were carried out by human workers. Technology has evolved to such an extent that the machines can do tasks that are physically unapproachable by man.Comparing the current ways of carrying out tasks with the ways they were performed in the past, we recognize how much the world has changed because of the technology revolution. Technology has enabled us to perform the same tasks with spending less time allowing us to do various other things. It is simply impossible to point out a specific technology for these drastic changes in a person’s life. The level of technological advancement helps measure the economic growth of a nation. The most remarkable technological gadget is a mobile phone. Cellular communication has revolutionized the telecommunication industry. The conventional phone, also a piece of technology, was one of the earliest technological developments. Now, smartphones have broadened the scope of communication which is not just limited to making long distance calls. Due to the changes in technology, the reliance upon technological gadgets has increased. The capability to transform carbon dioxide into energy is a remarkable development which once established will change our dependence on limited and nonrenewable resources. The computer technology has altered the face of the world. The internet that seeded from the concepts of computer networking has enhanced the mode of communication and increased the education standards. The use of this internet technology is increasing rapidly. It is one of the most effective platforms for communication and the largest base of information existing today. Due to the technological advancements, a person can gain access to information on any topic, from any place, at any time. Innovations in the present tech-world can enable us to find solutions to urgent and difficult problems. Furthermore, internet has brought a significant positive change to the advertising and entertainment industry. Marketers can reach out to the masses over the internet within seconds and carry out interactive and effective advertising campaigns. The technology revolution has led to an increase in chat rooms, online databases and personalized web pages. The information technology sector has entirely transformed the outlook of communication with instant messaging, video conferencing and e-mails. With the dawn of technology, individuals are bridging gaps and decreasing the distances in their minds. However, the basic downside of technological advancement is that people have become too much machine dependent and thus are getting lethargic. Robotics, computerization and automation are changing our lives by increasing efficiency and inexpensive labor, thus increasing the rate of unemployment. It is curbing our capability to pay attention.Technology has no doubt improved our lives and will keep on improving it if streamlined in right direction. It is our responsibility to structure it such that it benefits the society and environment rather than doing harming it. It is due the improvised technology that atomic and nuclear wars have taken place. This has also directed to an increase in corruption as well as pollution. For this reason, a balance between automation and manpower should be maintained.

No matter how brilliant your website may be, it will not do very well without some website promotion. Here are four simple steps to get your website off the ground. The first thing you should always do is submit your site to different search engines. This is absolutely necessary for successful website promotion. Before you present your site to the search engines, you must make sure that it is search engine optimized. The great thing about submitting your site to search engines is that it is usually free and easy. The next step is to submit your website to different directories. This will not only give your site more hits, it will also cause your link popularity to increase. Link popularity, or the number of other web pages linking to your site, is important to web site promotion because it helps search engines rank your website higher. The next first step to help you excel at website promotion is to submit the site to pay per click search engines. Nothing will speed up your website promotion faster, though you do need to have some money to spend. The way that pay-per-click works is that different site owners bid on the amount they are willing to spend on certain keywords. The more you spend on the keyword, the higher up your website will appear on searches. You only pay for the clicks your site actually gets. The final step for website promotion is to exchange links with other sites. Many people move from one website to others through links. Keep in mind that link exchanges need to be beneficial for both websites.

There is so much in the news around project failure that sometimes it feels as if all projects are in danger from the start.
A study from software development firm Geneca supports this view – unfortunately. I say ‘unfortunately’ because it’s a commonly held belief that all projects fail and I think that if you set out believing that, you will have less chance of achieving your goals than if you set out on your project journey believing that you can do it.
The executives interviewed by Geneca don’t share my optimism. Three quarters of them feel that their projects are always or usually “doomed right from the start.” There is a distinct lack of confidence in project success.

Why do people believe in failure?
So why do teams continue to struggle, both in actually making projects a success and in getting others to believe that they could be, given the right resources.
The survey highlights several areas which contribute to the perception of inevitable project failure:

Unclear objectives. 45% reported that the business objectives for their project were unclear. If you don’t know what it is you are supposed to be doing then it’s pretty hard to decide if you’ve been a success.
Lack of clarity around ‘done’. Over three quarters of people said that there was confusion about when a project was done. Without defining success criteria and a list of criteria that mark the end of a project, how can you decide if it has successfully been completed? Only 23% reported that there was always agreement about when to close a project.
Poor business involvement. Inconsistent or confusing business involvement means that 78% of respondents reported that the project’s objectives usually or always didn’t reflect business needs. There was general agreement that business stakeholders need to be adequately involved in requirements elicitation and management.
“Unfortunately, poor requirements definition practices have become so common that they’re almost tolerated,” said Geneca President & CEO, Joel Basgall. And that’s despite the known correlation between good requirements practices and project success.

How to put that right
The key, according to a Gartner study into project failure, is not to be complacent. The experts there recommend that project managers take steps to apply situational knowledge to the project. That means applying the right mix of processes, team members, and skills to the project for the best result, and that can include business people to help define requirements.
That could be anything from making sure the right people are in the room when you come to define requirements, to more workshops, to seconding someone from the relevant team to be the eyes and ears of the business users on the project.
Another tip is to get a professional business analyst on the team. If you are working on a project where the requirements are even the slightest bit unclear and you feel that you are losing the ability to document and manage them, a business analyst will put you right. Leave it to them to get to the bottom of what the users are really talking about and to help both the project team and the business stakeholders understand the impact of the project across all areas.
One of the big easy wins from the Gartner study is the fact that better communication could really help in lots of cases. When projects fail because they don’t deliver something of business value or they deliver too late to be useful, these problems could have been overcome with better communication between the stakeholder groups and the project team.
Finally, be more positive. Mike Nichols challenges people to change the mentality around project failure by focusing on getting things right at the beginning. Project management isn’t rocket science. There are stacks of studies telling us why projects fail, and mostly the reasons are avoidable. Being more positive, changing the mindset of the doubters and doing things properly during project initiation can go a long way to managing project performance towards success rather than failure.

Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone on your team were professional, respectful of others, dedicated to doing the best job possible and responsible with their time tracking? That’s probably asking too much, but there are ways you can deal with problem team members. There’s no reason that your entire team should suffer just because of one bad apple. What should you know?
Deal with Them, Now
Depending on the severity of the problem, you might be tempted to let things right. This is the wrong approach. You might think it’s part of adjusting to a new team environment, or perhaps that whatever the issue is, it will go away with time. The problem here is that by not dealing with the behavior immediately, you’re giving tacit approval – you’re telling them it’s fine to act that way, and that creates huge issues down the road. Whatever the problem is, deal with it now before it grows.
Speak in Private
One of the fastest ways to create a sense of resentment and anger in your team is to confront behavior or work issues in a public forum. No matter how “small” the issue might be, raising it in front of other people is never a good thing. Take the offending team member aside to a private location (while observing all the rules regarding open doors for propriety and safety), and discuss it with them there.
Use a Gentle Hand, at Least at First
The first time or two that you have to confront a team member about a problem attitude or behavior, use a gentle hand. That doesn’t mean you have to baby them, but you shouldn’t necessarily “lay into” them, either. The behavior might be nothing more than the result of confusion and misunderstanding on their part. By dealing with it in an amicable way, you are able to start sorting the issue out without immediately angering the team member or making them feel bad. In fact, the team member might just need a little instruction or training in how to behave or in the proper procedures to use.
Repeat Offenders
While the first offense or two should be handled delicately (or at least politely), repeated offenses are a different matter. If the team member continues with the problem behavior even after repeated warnings, it’s time to take things a bit farther. A stern warning and a reprimand of some sort (a verbal warning that goes on their employment record, etc.) will be necessary. You should also inform the team member that the next instance would result in something more drastic, and lay out the possible consequences (including being removed from the team).
While it’s hoped that you won’t have to deal with problem team members at all, there’s always the chance that one of your team will have issues. Whether it’s in behavior towards another team member, laxness in recording time, failure to document correctly or something else, handling the situation the right way from the start is essential.

As a project manager, you have plenty of things on your plate. You have to ensure that your team is communicating and making progress forward. You have to communicate with stakeholders and managers. You have to continually inspect and revamp your project plan to account for new variables that threaten to derail it. With the sheer number of other tasks that need to be done, it can be easy to dismiss things like documentation and reporting as nonessential, pushing them to the back burner. Don’t do it. How important are these things?
Documentation
Your team will generate a considerable amount of data throughout the project. It might be related to material prices and performance in product manufacture. It might be related to specific hard drive stability and longevity within an IT project. In reality, that information will most certainly be vast and varied, and in all cases important. You must ensure that you’re documenting that data properly, and recording it against future need.
Perhaps the best tip possible related to documentation within your project is to ensure that each of your team members understands the importance of recording data and reporting it correctly. Make sure they have the software and templates necessary to streamline these processes. For instance, Excel and Word templates allow your team members to simply plug data into preformatted slots, taking a considerable amount of time and effort out of the scenario and ensuring that they can get back to their regular responsibilities that much faster.
Reporting
Once your team members have recorded all the necessary data, it needs to make its way to you (in most instances). You will have your own responsibilities where this information is concerned. For instance, you’ll have to report some information to stakeholders, whether they’re in your organization or in a client company. It’s vital that you report this information for a variety of reasons, including the possibility that this data will have a direct impact on your project’s budget. For instance, changes in the price of materials needed for manufacturing a product will most certainly have a huge impact on your project’s budget, whether for good or ill. Information about the availability of a material from a specific supplier can also impact your project, both in terms of budget and in completion time.
Have Documenting and Reporting Tools Already on Hand
For project managers in need of additional help with documenting and reporting, the most important thing to understand is that there are tools out there that can streamline this process. You’re not limited to premade templates alone. You can work with mobile apps that offer the ability to immediately send raw data or full reports with the press of a button to anyone who needs to be kept in the loop. That certainly saves time and effort. From desktop software to mobile apps, there are timesaving tools that will help you be more productive, while still ensuring accuracy and communicability.

The project methodology includes a step that requires identifying success criteria, but how do you actually do that? First, it’s important to understand what the success criteria are. These statements describe what “good” looks like and how you will know when you have achieved your goal. They serve as measures that can be used at the end of a project to demonstrate to stakeholders that all objectives have been met, and the project can be closed.

To identify success criteria, you need to consider the project’s objectives and goals. What are you trying to achieve, and how will you measure success? Success criteria should be specific, measurable, and realistic, and they should align with the project’s overall objectives. They should also be agreed upon by all stakeholders to ensure that everyone is on the same page.

One useful approach to identifying success criteria is to use the SMART framework, which stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. By applying this framework, you can ensure that your success criteria are clear and achievable, and that they align with the project’s goals and objectives.

Where to look for success criteria
Success criteria in a project will comprise both delivering project deliverables to defined scope and delivering them appropriately. For instance, the software is compatible with IE 11, Chrome, Safari, and Firefox (relating to project deliverables) and ensuring the project cost does not exceed 10% of the original budget (relating to the project process).

Personally, I prioritize success criteria around project deliverables, which are easily identified from the requirements and hold greater significance for project stakeholders. As a professional project manager, it is expected that On Time, On Budget, and On Scope measurements should serve as success criteria, and one should not need a list of criteria to perform the job. However, in environments where these factors are not taken for granted, it may be beneficial to make a list of project process success criteria too. Interestingly, completing a project on budget was the top success criterion in a University of Colorado study, and many project sponsors may use it as a basis to evaluate a project.

When to look for success criteria
Documenting success criteria at the start of a project is crucial in order to have a clear direction of what the project team is working towards. Without defined success criteria, it can be difficult to determine if the project is progressing as planned or if it has been completed successfully.

It is best to include success criteria in the Project Initiation Document or Project Charter so that everyone involved in the project is aware of them. This allows the project sponsor to review and approve them, ensuring that everyone is aligned on what defines a successful project outcome.

Having documented success criteria also allows for regular progress checks throughout the project to ensure that the team is on track to meet the defined goals. It is important to revisit and update the success criteria as needed throughout the project to ensure that they remain relevant and achievable.

Success criteria are not benefits
When identifying success criteria, it’s important to differentiate them from benefits. Success criteria demonstrate that a project deliverable meets the business requirements, while benefits justify the investment in the project. For example, increasing the customer base or improving quality by 20% are benefits that a project could deliver.

Success criteria should be defined at the start of the project and documented in the Project Initiation Document or Project Charter. They can be used to define what “good” looks like and how the project’s completion will be measured. Success criteria can be based on both the project process and deliverables.

It’s important to remember that success criteria are not the same as benefits, but both are important for judging the success of a project. By documenting success criteria early, project managers can ensure that they are working towards a clearly defined goal and can measure their success accordingly.

Accounting software has been gaining momentum over the past years. Companies which use these software vouch for their efficiency to handle loads of accounting functions but do not add up to the costs unlike hiring a pool of trained and licensed accountants. Basically, an accounting software functions like a true accountant who handles accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and trial balance. Furthermore, the software can accommodate other functions which are usually handled by a staff. It too serves as an accounting information system. Accounting software is varied because their appropriateness depends on the revenue or specialties of a company.1. Software Categories- Low End
Software from this category perform only general business accounting functions. These are inexpensive application software. Best for starting businesses.- Mid Market
The software classified under this category are capable of serving the needs of multiple national accountancy standards and allow accounting in multiple currencies. The come-ons in these products are actually the integrated or add-on management information systems and maybe oriented towards one or more markets.- High End
Softwares covered by this category are among the most complex and expensive business accounting software. Usually, they are part of an extensive suite of software often known as Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP software.- Vertical Market
Softwares assigned to this are those for specific business types because features needed for an industry is already built in.2. Setup And InstallationIt is very important to undergo a selection process because you have to find the right product, the one that matches your company needs. This may be complicated but you have to bear in mind that installing a new accounting system is very expensive and making the wrong selection may end you broke. Now you have committed the biggest mistake of your life but there is no more room for crying over spilled milk. Think it over in a different light; maybe the purpose of this mishap is to give you a chance to make an overhaul in you business process. You may need to redesign your process. But before you go excited over this whole renovation thing, there are some steps to follow.3. Steps to Follow- Form a technology advisory committee (TAC). This committee will head the entire operation – from selection of the product to implementation. Members of this committee must come from the major divisions of the company so that all facets of the business may be considered. However, members of the group must be limited to seven members. TAC should have a senior manager in the group to provide authority, manager of the accounting department and a representative from the information technology department. As much as possible involved your managers.- Prepare needs analysis. First, ask each division head to prepare an analysis of their department which includes all the things they do and classify it accordingly from the most critical to the mundane tasks. To support this listing, ask them to draw flowcharts to diagram how they perform each task. This will allow full view of how things flow within the organization. This will help you identify if all these duties can be performed by the accounting software of your choice. Much better if samples of every form will be gathered and the reports done by your former software. Include also systems outside your software that do supplemental duties. All these paperworks and analysis will help in the development of a requirements definition – a detailed document that defines what your business needs from an accounting application. As soon as you get these things done, you now have a complete reference guide for your purchasing decision.- Ask the advice of an independent consultant. This person will guide you all the way through the process. But just make sure that he is not somewhat connected to any of the vendors your company considers or else his lines will all be sounding a sales pitch. After getting an outsider to view things objectively, you can now ask say someone who maybe close with the vendor and who have used the software several times.- Talk with your current vendor. Now, this is the time to consult the vendor of your former software except if you are buying a new one. Present the detailed analysis you just made and ask him if an upgrade would be necessary to meet the needs of your company.4. Prepare A Budget- When preparing a budget consider other expenses required for the installation of the software such as the hardware requirements.
- Be aware of how much the company can afford to spend and plan the timing.
- Prepare a spreadsheet matrix listing key features of the product that impress you. Start eliminating obvious poor choices.5. Final Assessment- Prepare a formal request for proposal (RFP) or a less formal request for quote (RFQ) from the vendor.
- Ask for a product demonstration. Do not allow a canned demonstration. You should see the software live in action.
- Ask for a list of references you can call like former and current customers. Be aware of those who cannot answer your questions about the product directly.
- Undergo a prototype testing to know if your systems and data are compatible to the software and identify problem areas.
- Visit the vendor or its agent.
- Review your contract before making a final decision. Ask a counsel to do it. Support the contract or include all agreements discussed, the RFP or RFQ and documented communications.

If you’re in sales, then you’ve probably heard all sorts of advice, from “don’t oversell” to “focus on solving problems.” However, one of the best pieces of advice that many forget is to smile! After all, your smile is one of the first features people notice about you, and it plays an essential role in the first impression you make. Keep reading to learn all about the importance of a smile in sales (as well as how cosmetic dentistry can help!).

Smile: Your Sale Depends on It!

Knowing your product and knowing your audience are key in sales. However, you don’t get far if your client doesn’t trust you or believe you. That’s why it’s so important to make a good first impression! Here are a few ways a smile can help:

• Smiling is more powerful than you might think – One study found that smiling has the same effect on our brain as $25,000 in cash!

• Smiling communicates your state of mind – Smiling is a non-verbal cue that you are happy to be where you are, that you are confident in your product, and that you are ready and willing to help.

• Smiling creates a ripple effect of positivity – Have you ever seen a friend yawn and done the same? Or seen someone take a sip of water and immediately realized you’re thirsty? Thanks to the mirroring neurons in our brains, we naturally mimic the behavior of those around us.

But What If You Don’t Like Your Smile?

If you don’t like your smile, don’t worry – that’s where cosmetic dentistry comes in. Whether you’re struggling with misaligned, misshapen, cracked, or otherwise imperfect teeth, your smile goals aren’t out of reach. The first step? Scheduling an appointment with a skilled cosmetic dentist. For both my father and myself, providing high-quality, personalized, and judgment-free dentistry is a passion. There’s truly nothing better than seeing someone walk out of our office with a dazzling, confident smile! So, don’t wait to make your dream smile a reality – it could make all of the difference when it comes to your personal and professional life!

1999 was probably the worst year of my professional life. Unsatisfying office jobs followed by long periods of unemployment and claiming benefits. I’d also missed out on an opportunity to train as a Microsoft certified programmer because I was unable to find a placement. The dream of making my way into the world of employment had turned into an absolute nightmare, at times I felt like a total failure.

Towards the end of 1999 an opportunity arose for me to work in a casino. I’d always loved card games after seeing the glitz and glamour of casinos in James Bond movies. Dissatisfied with life in Northern Ireland, at the age of just 20, I packed a couple of suitcases and ended up going to the Isle of Man to train as a croupier (casino dealer) in January 2000. 18 months later I was working on my first cruise ship, and 18 months after that I was boarding the QE2 (the most famous ship of them all) to do a world cruise.

For a young man from a housing estate in Antrim, Northern Ireland this was beyond even my wildest dreams. On a ferry from Belfast to Liverpool in 1997, I’d once seen a pontoon table and croupier and dreamt what it may be to work as a casino dealer on the high seas.

Everything aboard the QE2 was as you would expect, starting with Captain Ron Warwick, who looked exactly what the captain of the QE2 should look like (Google the name if you don’t believe me). Passenger facing crew were immaculate in their appearance. I could probably have shaved with the crease on my pressed tuxedo shirts, and on a number of occassions when I had been sunburnt in port, I could feel the creases cutting into my tender skin as I dealt the cards that evening in the casino.

The great thing for croupiers on cruise ships is that they only work when the ship is in international waters, in port, the casino must close, and casino staff are free to do pretty much whatever they want. Casino staff have a cabin steward who cleans their cabin and takes away their dirty laundry and brings it back fresh each day. We did a 103 day world cruise which included stops in places like Hong Kong, Sydney, Cape Town, Hawaii, Mauritius, Nagasaki, Tahiti and Singapore to name a few. I managed to do some amazing excursions like diving in the great barrier reef, quad biking in the Namibian desert, and dining in all sorts of fine restaurants, trying delicacies like Springbok, Kangaroo, Crocodile and Kobe beef. We made stops in 5 continents, crossed the equator and even experienced living a Tuesday in consequetive days when we crossed the world timeline. Imagine that, you go to bed on Tuesday night, wake up the following morning and its Tuesday again, but this was far from groundhog day.

The role in the casino was not about taking passengers’ money like in a land-based casino, it was about providing them with fun and entertainment. The passengers were friendly and pleasant, many of them being extremely successful people (I understand the lowest cabin cost for a world cruise on the QE2 was about $50,000 in 2003). A lot of the passengers had never played in a casino and were fascinated to learn and experience the one onboard. Just getting to know some of these people was an experience in itself, and a large part of the role in the casino was simply to entertain them whilst they were in the casino.

There were also celebrity passengers. We would finish work and go to the crew/members bar where we would have guest entertainers like the late Des O’Connor and the magician, the late Paul Daniels down to have a drink. God bless them both.

Was my job the best job in the world? Maybe not for everyone, but it was beyond even my wildest dreams and the 6 month experience, as well as the amazing people I met will be something I treasure forever. I was very lucky to have lived this experience and will always be incredibly grateful for it.

Many years have passed since then and I’ve always missed the buzz of casinos which is how Fun 21 Casino Hire was created in 2021. My celebrities now are anyone who hires the No Money Fun Casino that I provide for parties and celebrations, and I aim to give the same experience that you would expect onboard the QE2.
