PHOTOS: The Dollar Lake Fire is 19,490 acres and now 63% contained as of September 17, 2025. A team of fallers has begun work in areas that were previously inaccessible. Further, rehabilitation work is underway with excavators restoring dozer lines built during the initial suppression efforts near Red Cliff Bible Camp. Crews continue work to prevent the fire from spreading east of the Green River Lakes Campground. Aviation resources are also being used to monitor wildlife activity in and around the fire area to protect the safety of both the fire personnel and the animals in the area. The Dollar Lake Fire area remains closed. Stage One Fire Restrictions are still in effect for the Bridger-Teton National Forest.

The Dodge City Fire Department said a business fire that closed a stretch of 3rd Avenue between Vine Street and Gunsmoke Street has been contained. Overnight, crews battled a large fire at the Birds of a Feather Quilt Shop, 314 W Spruce St., according to a KSN viewer and southwest Kansas radio station KERP-FM.

Firefighters continue to extinguish remaining hot spots. Once firefighters have completed their work, the building will be fenced off for safety. Closures include Spruce Street between 2nd Avenue and 4th Avenue, as well as Vine Street between 2nd Avenue and 4th Avenue. The State Fire Marshal has conducted an investigation into the incident.

Fire crews from the U.S. Forest Service and Montana DNRC are working on a new wildfire southeast of Dillon.

The Deer Creek Fire is burning about 35 miles from town in the East Fork of the Blacktail. Officials estimate it at one acre, burning in grass, sage, and timber roughly two miles from the trailhead.

Firefighters hiked in to the fire and a helicopter provided water drops and aerial support. Crews focused on securing fire lines and removing hazard trees.

The fire is on Forest Service land but has the potential to move toward state land. Investigators believe it may have been started by a hunter’s fire, though the official cause has not yet been determined.

A mobile home fire that spread to the surrounding area burnt about two acres Sunday evening in Forrest County. A post on the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page said that it responded to a call around 5:40 p.m. Sunday about a structure and grass fire at a residence on Jim Burch Road in the Glendale community.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported fire and smoke showing from the front of the mobile home as well as surrounding property, and it was spreading rapidly. NFVFD said the front of the mobile home sustained damage, but that it was contained to a small area. Approximately two acres of property was burnt, NFVFD said. NFVFD said the homeowner suffered minor burns to his hands and was checked out by EMS personnel on scene. He declined to be taken to the hospital. No further injuries were reported. NFVFD said an unattended outside fire was believed to have started the blaze.

Laman Library in North Little Rock was closed Wednesday after a small fire broke out Tuesday night. Officials with the library said the fire was related to the roof being repaired. Staff said they began to see smoke around 6:30 p.m., but it took a couple of hours to realize the fire went from the roof down a wall. The fire was a slow burn and has been put out, but the library will be closed due to air quality concerns. Officials said the library is working on repairing the roof and a mitigation team will work on removing the smoke.

The Bear Gulch Fire, burning on the north side of Lake Cushman in the Olympic National Forest, has grown to an estimated 15,739 acres with only 9% containment, fire officials announced Wednesday. The fire, which was first reported on July 6 at 8:37 p.m., experienced significant activity yesterday due to warm, dry conditions and strong easterly winds, according to fire officials.

Heavy smoke is expected to be visible across the Olympic Peninsula and in the Hood Canal area in the coming days. A shift to a weak onshore flow is expected on Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures, increased relative humidity, and a chance of rain returning later in the weekend, according to fire officials. The east winds have primarily impacted the upper slopes of the fire area, intensifying fire behavior and producing heavy smoke, particularly from the North Fork Skokomish River valley area, according to fire officials.

Helicopter bucket drops were conducted over the Copper Creek area, northwest of Lake Cushman, to help slow the fire’s spread. The fire is burning in steep, rugged, inaccessible terrain, limiting safe direct engagement from firefighters, according to fire officials. The Bear Gulch fire has had a lot of news coverage this summer, not only because it is one of the state’s largest fires, in August, border patrol agents arrested two members of the Bear Gulch firefighting team.

PHOTOS: Fire crews from Ashland, along with mutual aid partners, responded early Tuesday morning to a vehicle fire in the 10,000 block of Dead Indian Memorial Highway. According to firefighters, the blaze threatened nearby grass when it was first discovered, putting surrounding vegetation at risk. Ashland Fire & Rescue’s Battalion Chief and Engine 2 were first on scene. They were able to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the vehicle and into the dry grass. By the time crews had it under control, the vehicle was heavily burned, but there were no injuries reported. In addition to dousing the vehicle itself, crews worked quickly to establish containment lines around the fire, prioritizing protection of nearby areas prone to rapid spread.
