A court has ruled that police advising an LGBTQ+ individual, who was undergoing the process of gender correction and changing their resident registration number, to avoid using public restrooms for a period constitutes an infringement of personal rights.
The court’s decision highlights the illegality of such remarks, noting that they fail to consider the reality faced by LGBTQ+ individuals who often struggle with using public restrooms due to societal scrutiny.
The Seoul Central District Court (presiding judge Chung In-jae) dismissed an appeal and ruled partially in favor of plaintiff A in a damages lawsuit against the state.
Neither party appealed the decision, making it final on July 2. The court awarded 300,000 won ($240) in damages, recognizing a portion of the <a href="https://bit.ly/outlookindiacasino">커뮤니티 </a>3 million won claim.
In 2020, the plaintiff A received court approval to change their gender from male to female on the family register.

Prosecutor General Lee One-seok said, Monday, he believes there was “preferential treatment” in the prosecution’s Saturday questioning of first lady Kim Keon Hee over her luxury handbag scandal and alleged involvement in a stock manipulation case.
He admitted that holding the questioning behind closed doors outside the prosecutors’ office undermines the rule of law and apologized to the public for this lapse.
The questioning of the first lady highlighted a significant clash between the top prosecutor and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, as the prosecutor general was kept in the dark about the interrogation until 10 hours after it had begun.
“Since taking office, I have repeatedly said the law does not favor the rich and powerful. I have said there are no exceptions, preferential treatment or sanctuary before the law, but these principles were not observed in the questioning of the president’s wife. I deeply apologize to the citizens,” Lee told reporters on his way to work.
His remarks came after the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, responsible for the investigation, questioned Kim in person over the weekend at a government building instead of the prosecutor’s office. This decision, apparently made for safety and security reasons, contradicted the top prosecutor’s earlier promise not to offer preferential treatment to the first lady, including avoiding secretive summons or non-standard questioning locations.
Lee confirmed that he was not notified in advance about the questioning of the first lady. The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office explained that the questioning on the stock manipulation allegations took place first, a procedure which, <a href="https://bit.ly/outlookindiatoto">토토 </a>according to a 2020 order from the justice minister at the time, was not required to be reported to the top prosecutor. The questioning related to the handbag scandal began after 9 p.m., and Lee was informed only as the session was nearing its end.
“I wasn’t informed about the process of [Kim’s] investigation. I take responsibility for not properly leading the prosecutors’ office. I will spare no efforts to uphold the constitutional principle that ‘all are equal before the law’ during the remaining legal procedures involving the first lady,” Lee said, hinting that he will not step down over the issue. His remarks came after a deadly lithium battery plant fire here last month raised global concerns about the safety of batteries containing lithium.
Although single-use lithium batteries caused the fire at Aricell’s lithium battery plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, fears are lingering among consumers over the safety of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries used for electric vehicles (EVs), mobile phones, laptops and energy storage systems (ESS).
After a local fire department suggested that the factory’s 23 workers died primarily from the inhalation of toxic smoke from the burning materials, rather than direct burn injuries, the toxicity of minerals used in lithium-ion batteries is also drawing attention.
“Lithium-ion batteries provide high energy density in small footprints, but concerns about fires and explosions in stationary storage applications have the potential to slow the clean energy transition,” the Alsym Energy CEO said.
“Toxicity is a concern, with lithium-ion capable of producing deadly hydrogen fluoride and carbon monoxide gases.”
In response to growing worries, global battery firms have tried to develop alternative products.
EcoPro recently developed cathode materials for lithium-free sodium-ion batteries. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un may try to rekindle his “bromance” with former President Donald Trump if he returns to the White House, a former U.S. official said Monday, predicting Kim could propose a deal to limit his regime’s nuclear program in return for American troops’ pullout from South Korea.
H.R. McMaster, who served as national security advisor for Trump from 2017-2018, made the remarks amid speculation that the GOP presidential nominee, if reelected, could seek direct diplomacy with Kim in pursuit of a peace deal.
During his nomination acceptance speech last week, Trump boasted about his personal ties with Kim and signaled his apparent desire to reengage with the North Korean leader.
“I think if Donald Trump is elected president, what you’re going to see right away is Kim Jong-un trying to rekindle their bromance,” McMaster said during an online chat hosted by the Washington-based Hudson Institute.
“Then what he’s going to do right after that is he’s going to say, ‘Hey, I’ve got a deal for you. I’m going to satisfy your impulse toward retrenchment, and in exchange for U.S. forces leaving the peninsula and just letting me have only just a few nukes, I will stop my long-range ballistic missile program, and I’ll limit my nuclear program,'” he added.
The former White House official stressed that Kim may angle for an agreement like the Iranian nuclear deal that Washington withdrew from during Trump’s presidency in 2018.
“He’s going to hope to get something like an Iran nuclear deal — a terrible deal for the United States. He won’t get that from a Trump administration, but he’s posturing himself for that,” he said.
Though Trump, if reelected, could seek to complete the unfinished business of addressing the North Korean quandary, uncertainty remains <a href="https://bit.ly/outlookindiasports">한국을 </a>over whether Pyongyang would accede to any U.S. outreach at a time when it is deepening cooperation with Moscow in the midst of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Touching on a deepening military alignment between Moscow and Pyongyang, McMaster said that what Kim wants is to “break out of isolation.”
“Russia has helped him do that with providing the energy needs for North Korea. This let up a lot of pressure on North Korea,” he said.
He claimed that North Korea, Russia and China want to push the U.S. “out of critical regions.”
“What you hear over and over again is this mantra of getting the U.S. out of these regions so China can establish an exclusionary area of primacy across the Indo-Pacific, North Korea can get the U.S. off the peninsula as the first step in unifying the Korean peninsula,” he said.
“What Iran wants to do is again to extend his hegemonic influence, and Russia wants to reestablish itself as a great power and reestablish the Russian Empire.”
On the issue of defense cost-sharing with allies, he stressed Trump’s argument against “free riding.”
“This is where President Trump has had a very strong argument: Americans don’t want people free-riding on their largesse,” he said.
He pointed to South Korea and Japan as burden-sharing examples.

KT won 12-8 in 10 extra innings against Kiwoom in the ‘2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League’ at the Gocheok Sky Dome on April 18. KT’s season record improved to 44 wins, 2 draws, and 46 losses after a five-game winning streak. The team also maintained its absolute dominance over Kiwoom with a 9-1 record this <a href="https://sportstotosite.info" title="season">season</a>.
After the game, head coach Lee Kang-cheol praised his players, saying, “All the players didn’t give up until the end and showed their concentration in every at-bat, which helped us win the game.”
The batting lineup exploded in the final innings. In the top of the eighth inning, Kim Min-hyuk, a pinch-hitter, drew a walk to load the bases. Mel Rojas Jr. followed with an RBI double to center field. In the ensuing at-bat, Kwon Dong-jin walked, Oh Jae-il was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Kang Hyun-woo drove in another run on a wild pitch. KT scored one more run on a sacrifice fly by Choi Jae-dae.
They finally tied the game in the top of the ninth. KT loaded the bases with a walk to Moon Sang-chul, a single to right by Kang Baek-ho, and a single to left by Kwon <a href="https://www.outlookindia.com/plugin-play/2024년-파워볼사이트-추천-순위-안전한-파워볼실시간-게임-사이트-top15-news-334143" title="파워볼사이트">파워볼사이트</a> Dong-jin. After forcing the game into extra innings, KT’s bats came alive again in the top of the 10th. After Shim Woo-joon singled and Kim Min-hyuk walked to load the bases, Moon Sang-chul hit a two-run shot over the left-center field fence. Next, Kang Baek-ho walked, Kwon Dong-jin singled to right-center, and Oh Jae-il singled to load the bases. KT added another run when Kang Hyeon-woo singled to center field. A sacrifice fly by Choi Jae-dae gave KT another run.
KT’s closer Park Young-hyun faced runners on second and third in the bottom of the 10th inning, but was able to close out the game without allowing a run.

The Korea Football Association has decided not to take legal action against Park Joo-ho.

Light & Wonder also said it plans to launch the Dragon Train title across the group’s social and iGaming platforms and will “make it available to all players.”
In January, JPMorgan Securities said it expects Light & Wonder to “exceed” its $1.4 billion annual revenue target by 2025, before interest, taxation and depreciation (EBITDA).
The land-based gaming division will be a “key driver” for Light & Wonder’s EBITDA growth, according to the brokerage.
“The early performance of the new Dragon Train gaming suite [in Australia] shows good early execution,” the brokerage observed.
“The recent family of games launched in Australia gives the company confidence in the direction it needs to take to achieve similar growth in a much larger U.S. revenue pool,” JPMorgan analysts said, adding that the new title helped boost the average turnover ratio for Light & Wonder in Australia’s NSW and Queensland states.
Light & Wonder completed its secondary listing on the Australian Stock Exchange in May last year. The company’s main listing remains on the U.S. Nasdaq.
