Economists hopes to maintain rates from the central bank to a large extent where they (for now).

Derek Holt, vice -president of Scotiabank Capital Markets Economics, has now maintained for months that the bank has not shown any reason for the cut.

“Now cuts when it is not close to the price anywhere and after a catch since March can motivate the markets to think that (Bank of Canada) is priming for ease for another round. You can’t just take out a chip out of the bag. The market will probably cut another for a July meeting and maybe later.

“You would be better confident that now a cut is right that it can help reduce financial conditions compared to the policy rate adjustment.”

Alberta has now confirmed 710 measles cases so far this year, according to the new data released on Monday, crossed the 690-case mark set in 1987.

This year now marks the most cases in a calendar year since 1986, when 843 cases were reported.

This year’s initial outbreak began in March and the disease has spread throughout the spring, mainly outside the Calgary and Edmonton Health Zone.

The south region has been the most difficult hit, accounting for 520 cases so far this year.

The central region has seen 102 cases while the North Region has seen 69.

There was no new case in the Calgary Zone or Edmonton Zone over the weekend. The two most populous health areas of the province have seen a total of 19 cases so far this year.

Measles is spread mainly between children and adolescents: about 29 percent of cases are among children under five years, while 46 percent are between five and 17 years of age.

Four people were in the hospital with measles till Sunday, one of which was in deep care.

About 10 percent of cases with known results have been hospitalized so far this year. This includes about 1.5 percent of intensive care. There has been no measles death in 2025.

In measles cases where the patient’s vaccination status is known, 91 percent have been in individuals who have never found measles vaccine. One and five percent were among those who received one of the two recommended lifespan.

Health officials in the south region have said that there are number of confirmed cases Only the possibility of “tip of iceberg” Everyone who is infected wants medical treatment.

Alberta healthcare issues Localized exposure warning For various communities where people with communicable measles have traveled.

It is also released “Permanent measles performance advisor“For the entire south region.

Advisor reads, “All individuals are working, or attending school, or traveling, are advised to be aware of the important current risk for measles disease in the south region, and to ensure that vaccinations are upheld.”

“At this point, any person in the south region who was born in or after in 1970 and two documented doses of measles vaccine, is at risk for measles development. They should monitor measles symptoms and are strongly encouraged to review their vaccination records.”

As the community comes out of control in Alberta, Suskechewan and Manitoba, thousands of inhabitants-in the surrounding areas are coming in exposure to the smoke of the Jungle fire, which increase their risk for short and long-term health effects.

To date, over 25,000 people have been forced to extract from three provinces. The weather of this forest fire has so far burned over two million hectares, which usually runs from May to September.

Smoke plums are the heaviest above Northwestern Ontario and Central Manitoba, but has also spread to the upper midwests in the United States, according to it Environment and Climate Change Canada,

Satellite data It also shows that the smoke has crossed The Atlantic Ocean in parts of Europe, with more this week.

In exposure to wildfire smoke – especially if it is heavy and longer than long time – can cause health effects in anyone regardless of health conditions or age. But even mild wildfire can affect risk risk groups, such as old health conditions, seniors, young children and people with pregnant women.

Wildfire smoke causes irritation for most people

Wildfire is a mixture of smoke gases, water vapors and particles. Among them, Fine particles are the greatest health risksThey cannot be seen with human eye, but are associated with many health issues.

BC Center for Disease Control, a senior scientist of environmental health services, Dr. Angela Yao says that the most common symptom is irritation. This can mean a flowing nose, itchy eyes, a mild cough and headache. Most symptoms are light, and until air quality is improved.

However, “small particles or gas in smoke can actually be deeper into your lungs and can cause inflammation,” Yao said. This can increase the risk of respiratory infection like pneumonia.

Heavy smoke has become a major health concern as wildfire continues in western Canada and even in parts of the United States. The most affected places have been issued air quality alert, and people with built -in health

In more severe cases, exposure can cause breath, dizziness and heart deficiency, According to BC CDCWhich recommends medical attention.

Yao said, “For people with chronic conditions such as asthma, (chronic pulmonary heart disease), heart disease or diabetes, smoke can increase their conditions.”

A recent study published by the Journal of Environment and Technology of the American Chemical Society conducted the BC Wildfire season between 2016 and 2019. It was found that infants’ mothers were brought in contact with wildfire smoke during pregnancy. Experience is more likely Ear infection and low respiratory infection after birth.

Yao said that as a result of wildfire smoke exposure, there are “adequate evidence” on adverse births on the results of low birth weight.

How can you protect yourself?

Yao said that the search for cleaner indoor air is the most important and effective way to protect himself during a wildfire smoke event.

It is also important to keep your doors and windows closed, especially when you are operating an air purifier in your home.

“If your home or the building you are in is equipped with an HVAC system that has air cleaning functions, make sure the filters are sufficient to filter smoke, and (them) upgraded,” Yao said.

He said that if you do not have an underlying air filter in your place, you can use a portable one or make your ownWith a box fan and furnace filter.

“If it becomes very hot or very smoke in your home, consider going to public places, such as community centers, library or shopping malls, which have cleaner and cooler indoor wind,” Yao said.

He encouraged people to be aware and use local wildfire smoke forecasts. Air quality health index To evaluate whether they should limit the time spent outside during the occurrence of wildfire smoke.

Yao said, “When there is a smoke of wildfire, it is really difficult to stay indoors all the time.” “Knowing the forecast and air quality is going to be localized when we are working with such events.”

Warning: This article refers to sexual assault and can influence people who have experienced sexual violence or know someone affected by it.

Some rape crisis centers are reporting a big jump in a call since the onset of high-profile tests of five former junior hockey players accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room in 2018.

Center’s education and communication manager Carle Docket said that at the Sexual Harassment Support Center of the Waterloo region, there is a 25 percent spike to seek help in the number of women or talk about their own experiences with sexual violence.

“We are looking at everything on the support line,” he said. “We have survived in the community that have been retracted by what they are reading and watching in the news. They are arriving for support because perhaps it is bringing memories and experiences and requires some support.”

Other callers want to talk about whether the police have their own experience with reporting and undergoing a criminal justice system and may be like a test EM, the complainant in the World Junior Hockey case said.

“It is very common that people feel that our legal system is not equipped to deal with cases of sexual violence and sexual harassment.”

Michael McLeod, Dillon Dubey, Alex Foremitton, Cal Fute and Carter Heart have not convicted allegations of sexual harassment arising from their time in a London hotel, where they attended Hockey Canada Gala in June 2018.

M told the police that he had consent with McLeod in his hotel room after one night of dancing and drinking in a local bar. The Crown alleged that McLod invited her comrades to the hotel room for the sex act with EM, which she says she did not agree.

The testimony has conducted a sexual harassment test for five former world junior hockey players, taking only one defendant stand. The closing argument in the case will start from June 9.

The men have alleged that they were sexually aggressive and agreed to sexual acts.

Since then Testing started about two months agoAdvocate Julie Lalond, a victim’s right in Ottawa, said, “The sexual harassment center is scattered to increase call volume across the country-he says that whenever a high-profile trial or event brings awareness for sexual violence, a victim’s right in Ottawa said Juli Lalond.”

Lalande said, “Calls to support the lines have been through the roof because women are triggered by the details coming out of the case and out.”

The cross-examination of the EM by five defense teams has inspired some women to move forward to the police with their complaints, Lalonde said.

“Women reflect themselves in this experience and this is their worst dream.”

Executive Director Jennifer Dunn said that London misused the women’s center about 350 to 400 calls per month for its crisis line. Since the test began, the number has been above 400 consecutive, he said.

Violence has ‘lifetime influence’

“When something is in media or prevalent in the community, we are usually ready for spike (in call),” Dun said. “Current customers have told us that the test is affecting them and we are able to work with them that address the trauma that is being brought at the forefront.”

Other callers are asking how specific Dunn said how specific sexual harassment proceedings are.

“There are concerns that if they choose to report what has happened to them, would it seem what is happening in court right now.”

He said that the London Center has made a distance call as Alberta to express its support.

“Women who have been subjected to any kind of violence often have a lifetime effect. Sometimes, whether it has happened years ago, or yesterday, those feelings can come back. It can almost be as if you are giving relief what you are doing.”

The EM filed a police report in 2018, but the London Police Service (LPS) closed the case without charging someone in early 2019.

Hockey Canada settled a civil case brought by EM in 2022. When the media described the case described in the media, the LPS reopened the investigation and eventually accused five people on the test.

Osborne said, “I want to clarify that the Ulout Holmes is located next to the Alouet Reform Center, it is not the same as an involuntary care bed opened last month at the Surrey Pretty Services Center.”

“They were the beds designed for individuals, especially in custody, but are different. It is for people living with complex mental health disorders, which require long -term medical care in an atmosphere like an auxiliary house.”

BC Health Minister Josi Osborne says that the new ‘home-like’ involuntary care at the Maple Ridge is designed for individuals who are certified for long-term involuntary care under the BC’s Mental Health Act. Johnny Morris, CEO of BC Division of Canadian Mental Health Association, said that Michel Eliot, BC Today’s hosting, needs to be accurate for such care, which are eligible for such care – whether people who are carrying on the streets or are already in the system, but the need is required.

Osborne said that certified people for only long -term involuntary care are eligible to be placed in a new bed.

Dr. Daniel Vigo, Chief Scientific Advisor of BC for psychiatry, toxic drugs and concurrent disorders, said that the care given by Ulout Holmes will be the first of its kind in the province.

Vigo stated that beds offer an alternative to current setup, where patients get “uncertainly stuck in high-protection hospital units” due to lack of options.

When asked how long a patient can live in involuntary care for a long time, Vigo said the time period is “uncertain.”

He said, “As long as we think to help the person,” he said.

“It is an approved house, which means that it is a housing facility that will provide this service openly.”

Osborne said that the first people to use the new bed would go early next week.

The step came after the announcement of the 10-Units involuntary-care facility for people with drug addiction and mental health issues at the Surrey Pratial Center in April.

All the features are for detaining those who have a combination of mental health challenges, brain injuries, and anxiety concerns.

BC Premier David EB said at that time that the unit had to stop people from continuously cycling through justice system without being better.

The controversial debate has been arisen due to the link to the toxic drug crisis and public safety concerns on the subject of involuntary care for people suffering from drug addiction, mental illness and brain injuries.

Apart from BC, Ontario is also following extended involuntary treatment, while Alberta has introduced the law that will allow family members, health workers and police to apply to someone to order someone in the treatment of addictions.

Under a decorating afternoon sun, Devabhai Savadia slowly rubs the salt pan that has been in his family for generations. It is cool around him, a soft, clink sound of dishes except for his salt broom and washed nearby.

This is a new development. For years, loud, sputtering diesel machines have been running continuously, which have been running continuously to remove salty salty underground, which spread to farmers to evaporate and produce salt crystals.

Now, it is a solar panel that dots huge dry desert, gives strength to pumps.

The switch has dramatically changed the life of Savadia to use several hours of sunshine in Kutch district of western Gujarat state of India.

The 59 -year -old farmer told CBC News, “We finally make a profit due to solar, after solar,” 59 -year -old farmer told CBC News.

“Earlier (us) solar panels, hardly enough money to eat and not one rupee more.”

Most of the about 5,000 Agia families working in the salt desert have taken advantage of a large subsidy from both the state of Gujarat and federal governments, covering 80 percent of the cost of a solar panel.

This initiative fits neatly in India’s push to invest heavy in renewable energy, while slowly trying to reduce the country of its dependence on coal.

The South Asian country still depends on coal – it produces more than 70 percent of the dirty – 70 percent of the fossil fuel.

The country also focuses on the construction of solar farms on a large scale, groups of millions of panels in rows and columns that produce clean power.

“With solar, the expenses of the farmers are close to zero and the output is very good,” Bharatbhai Somera said, who has voluntarily worked with the local NGO Agiyariya Heit-Raksha Manch for years, which advocates the salt farming community.

Somera said, “With diesel, farmers had to keep an eye on the machine for 24 consecutive hours.” If there was any family work, agariyas would have to leave it.

Blush milk cake from Casamigo is the star of the sweet menu. This rendering of a trace lachase cake with rose milk is perfect for food. The soft, spongy, moist cake absorbs in aromatic roses and saffron milk, which exits on a soft touch of the spoon. At the top with a white chocolate mousse, there is a contrasting sensation of each bite texture – light, slightly heavy but smooth mousse, dry rose petals and some nuts also moist sponges with some nuts. As long as you do not get out of the cake, it is inevitable to pour rose milk in the plate and whatever you can do, it can drink it directly and count the calories. The dish is available at ₹ 180.

Catherine Cobden, CEO of Canadian Steel Producers Association, said, “In 50 percent tariffs, we originally consider closing the US market – completely closed, the door is closed, if you would do for Canadian Steel,” said CEO COBDen, CEO of Cennadian Steel Producers Association.

“We cannot ship at 50 percent. Perhaps we can stockpile for a few days, but obviously we cannot produce if one of our major markets is closed.”

“The challenge is how we remain competitive with that extra cost in transportation, from the cost of cost?” Borland said. The US was five to 10 percent of its overall sales, but Trump’s tariff has “evaporated” that income.

The company had made a plan to manage the original 25 percent tariff, but Borland is worried that the hike announced up to 50 percent – on Friday and was imposed on Wednesday after midnight on Wednesday – can paralyze its suppliers and customers.

“Most companies do not have that type of cash laying to pay this type of tariff,” he said. With repeated changes with the bar, “it makes it almost impossible to do any type of strategic plan when you don’t know what the future is going to bring you.”

Other companies say that they have a wigley room to face double tariffs.

Parag Shah, president of the steel cabinetry manufacturer News Products, saw that the sales had stopped some customers from big purchases. “We are trying to eat as much cost as possible,” he said.

But tariffs are now part of the company’s cost structure, similarly logistics, packaging and shipping, he told CBC News.

“I think the biggest challenge for a business it is happening so early. Usually there is more notice,” he said. “But what is this. You will just roll with punches.”

‘Steel Dumping’ is a concern

Nevertheless, in double tariffs, there is an alarm on the issue that has been coming in the steel industry for a long time.

Industry leaders have been alleged for years that foreign steel manufacturers are selling steel in the Canadian market at ultra-lo prices, usually known as “steel dumping”.

Steel manufacturer Algoma Steel CEO Michael Garcia said in an interview This week with globes and mail that the current tariff had already damaged the company’s revenue significantly, and that a double tariff would make its American business “commercially”.

Nevertheless, he suggested that the current American tariffs are only half the battle, with steel dumping already deteriorating challenging market conditions in Canada. Garcia said that the company is losing more money here than being in the US as a result of practice.

A representative of Elgoma Steel refused to comment on arrival by CBC News.

Barry Zekelman, CEO of Canadian steel tubing manufacturer Zekelman Industries, has long warned about steel dumping in Canada.

He repeated those concerns last week during an online platform with steel market updates, Accusing ChinaTo resume cheap steel in the Canadian market via Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea. China is now under 25 percent of steel tariffs from Canada.

It works closely with the Canada Border Services Agency, which releases anti-dumping duties.

Last month, CBSA Start your investigation In many countries, including China, to determine whether anti -competitive practice is being done in Canada. The CITT will handle the initial inquiry, with the decision to be issued in July, and the CBSA expects to release its decision in August.

Cobden, Chief Executive Officer of Steel Producers Association, says that “unfair traders” engaged in steel dumping should be the first order of trade to address issues addressing the domestic industry of Border Tariff, Canada.

She says that the industry is asking the federal government to match both the US 50 per cent steel tariffs, and to put tariffs that will “stop the steel turn in our country.”

Sicily’s Mount Etna put it in a fierce show on Monday, which sent a cloud of smoke and ash at a distance of several kilometers in the air.

Although the explosion sent some tourists scrambled, officials said the activity did not have any threat to the population.

Alert levels were raised at the Catenia Airport due to volcanic activity, but there was no immediate interruption reported. An official update was declared that Ash Cloud Emissions had ended by noon.

Videos and photos of the explosion show a sudden waterfall of the material and billing the ash running under the chikhar’s flank, such as the volcano was divided into half.

Touring on ETNA is popular, which is about 3,300 meters high, with a surface area of about 1,200 square kilometers.

Italian INGV National Institute of Geophysics and Jwalamukhi said the spectacle on Europe’s most active volcano occurred when part of the southeastern pit collapsed, resulting in warm lava flow and clouds of ash.

According to the comments recorded by the institute, the clouds of volcanoes reached a height of 6,500 meters at one point. It was the 14th displaced phase in recent months.

According to the INGVI officer Stephano Branka in Catania, the area of danger was limited to the summit of Etah, which was closed as a precaution for tourists. The south -east pit sits about 2,800 meters above sea level.

Sicily Chairman, Rentato Shifani said that the lava flow emitted in the blast did not cross the natural control area, “and there was no threat to the population.”
