Participating SMEs will benefit from streamlined and compliant accounting and reporting systems, aligned with UAE corporate tax and VAT requirements. Improved operational efficiency through digital integration of production, inventory, and workforce management, with training and support from Zoho to ensure successful implementation and long-term adoption.

 152.
The SMEs in the program will benefit from a shared implementation framework, enabling knowledge transfer and reducing digitalization costs.

This partnership with Zoho will help us create a unified, digitally empowered sector capable of competing on efficiency and compliance, both locally and globally. By embedding digital capabilities within SME operations, this initiative aims to significantly improve productivity, traceability, and competitiveness, contributing to the UAE’s broader objectives of food security, sustainability, and economic diversification.”

 186.
24 October 2025 – GITEX Global 2025 concluded successfully last Friday. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) joined hands with the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) to stage two pavilions featuring 22 exhibitors to showcase the latest applications and solutions in AI and robotics, IoT and greentech and also pitching sessions and a networking dinner.

 187.

 188.
During the exhibition, exhibitor Robocore Technology Limited was in discussion with a multinational outdoor advertising company that was actively considering purchasing Robocore’s advertising robots for global use. Roy Lam, CEO of Robocore Technology, said: “GITEX marks our fourth overseas exhibition this year with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, following CES in Las Vegas, USA, the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, and Viva Technology (VivaTech) in Paris, France. We established connections with more than 250 Middle Eastern companies over the five-day exhibition in GITEX. Many buyers expressed interest in purchasing our robots or becoming local distributors. We are also delighted to have met with the authorities from Oman again at GITEX and confirmed that we are signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hong Kong next Thursday, aimed at co-establishing an AI and Robotics Center in Oman, advancing localised talent training and certification, and implementing cross-departmental pilot projects.” He is very pleased to see the strong demand for Hong Kong’s I&T products and services in the Middle East market and will continue to actively expand into the region.

 189.
To help Hong Kong exhibitors establish a stronger network with the Middle East and international markets, the HKTDC hosted a networking dinner on 14 October together with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (ETO) in Dubai. Around 100 industry representatives attended from Hong Kong, the local region and beyond. Hong Kong exhibitors were able to connect with local counterparts to explore business opportunities.

 190.
Winnie Leung, founder of exhibitor WYNI Technology, shared after the dinner: “The HKTDC has bridged the gap between Hong Kong’s I&T enterprises and the Middle East market by helping us to establish contacts locally to understand the diverse opportunities and challenges in the Middle East market, and by connecting us with local banks and companies to advance business expansion efforts in the region.” Moving forward, they will follow up further to solidify potential partnerships and continue expanding in the Middle East market.

 191.
Another exhibitor, Canpanion Group Limited, engaged with a local education company during the networking dinner, and both parties are exploring ways to integrate Canpanion’s technology into inclusive education. They also established contact with relevant local authorities and will further explore collaboration opportunities through the help of ETO in Dubai. Additionally, another local educational institution expressed interest in partnering with them and the government to establish an AI school, thereby fostering an ecosystem for smart education.

 192.
In addition to GITEX Global 2025 held at the World Trade Centre, Expand North Star took place from 12 to 15 October at Dubai Harbour, where HKSTP set up a Pavilion showcasing innovative solutions from its 10 park companies. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also participated in the exhibition.

 193.
The HKTDC continues to lead Hong Kong businesses in participating in major international tech exhibitions, helping local start-ups expand overseas and reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a global innovation and technology hub. Following GITEX Global 2025, the HKTDC will once again organise the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion next year at CES in Las Vegas, USA in January, the MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Spain in March and VivaTech in Paris, France, providing an effective platform for I&T companies to showcase their cutting-edge technologies.

 219.
In 2024 Medcare conducted screenings for more than 2,000 women, with 62 per cent being first time participants, highlighting the increasing public awareness and confidence in early detection.

 220.
Medcare, known for their impactful breast cancer campaigns, has gone bigger and better this year with bringing cross industry partners on board for better reach and impact in their fight against breast cancer.

 221.

 222.
 223.
Dubai, UAE – October 24, 2025: Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres has launched its fourth edition of the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign across the UAE, emphasising the hospital group’s dedication to the early detection and prevention of breast cancer, which is the most prevalent invasive cancer in women in the UAE.

 224.

 225.
Each October, Medcare’s Breast Cancer Awareness campaign turns awareness into action, and this year is set to be the most significant one yet. Following the screening of more than 2,200 women in 2024, with 62 per cent participating for the first time, the initiative is broadening its scope through new cross industry collaborations and enhanced accessibility, making it easier for more women to obtain life saving screenings. The initiative seeks to ensure that essential preventive care is both affordable and accessible to women during the whole month of October. Women throughout the UAE can take advantage of a complete screening package, which includes either a mammogram or breast ultrasound along with a consultation with a specialist, all for a heavily reduced price.

 226.
Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, highlighted the increasing significance of the campaign by stating, “Breast cancer is the leading forms of cancer among women in the UAE, yet it is also one of the most treatable forms of cancer when detected early. Our screening initiative equips women with the knowledge, access, and assurance necessary to prioritise their health. We are so proud to see so many people accessing our breast cancer screenings and witness the impact we make to people’s lives.” She added that 82 per cent of women who were screened in 2024 came back for follow-up consultations, emphasising the effectiveness of Medcare’s long-term strategy in the fight against breast cancer.

 227.
To broaden its outreach beyond clinical environments, Medcare has formed collaborations with prominent cross industry partners such as Emirates Petroleum Company PJSC (Emarat), Krispy Kreme, Activate (City Centre Mirdif), AGMC Geely and The Platform Studios to bring better awareness and education to women of all ages about the importance of breast cancer screenings. These partnerships aim to promote breast cancer awareness in everyday venues where women shop, socialise, and engage with each other as well as larger awareness initiatives with Pink October branded Geely cars driving around Dubai for the month, and social media contests.

 228.
“Through our collaboration with trusted brands in the community, we are breaking barriers and fostering dialogue about breast and women’s health in spaces that feel familiar and welcoming,” stated Dr. Shanila.

 229.
“October marks a very important month for Medcare, a month where all our efforts are directed towards creating the maximum awareness and impact to encourage as many women as possible to take action and charge of their health. We see time and time again how a small step in the right direction can save lives and we are dedicated more than ever to be a part of this important mission. We are overwhelmed with the amount of support we see from different industry collaborators looking to join our mission against breast cancer and we would like to thank all our partners for their support in taking our mission to the next level,” said Rania Akkela, Head of Marketing at Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres.

 230.
With each edition of the campaign, more women are not only undergoing initial screenings but also actively engaging in regular preventive check-ups.

 231.
Medcare is offering an AED 350 screening package at its hospitals and medical centers across Dubai and Sharjah, inviting both new and returning patients all through October. Attendees will also benefit from educational materials and professional advice on risk factors, prevention strategies, and the significance of regular screenings.

 232.
Medcare’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign transcends a mere temporary effort; it represents a commitment to fostering early detection as a lasting practice.

 311.
Sharjah, UAE – [24 October 2025]: The second edition of Seal the Deal — the flagship pitch initiative fostering entrepreneurship and bridging innovative founders with leading investors and business leaders — was successfully held on October 23rd, 2025, during the Sharjah Investment Forum and the WAIPA World Investment Conference 2025.

 312.

 313.
Organized by the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (now rebranded as SPARK), in collaboration with the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), the American University of Sharjah (AUS), and the University of Sharjah (UoS), the event reaffirmed Sharjah’s position as a regional epicenter of innovation and entrepreneurship.

 314.
Held at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre as part of the Sharjah Investment Forum and the WAIPA World Investment Conference 2025, the event celebrated Sharjah’s thriving innovation ecosystem; a platform where bright minds meet bold investors and where ideas evolve into thriving ventures.

 315.
Inspired by the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SPARK, Seal the Deal continues to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs to transform academic innovation into investable ventures.

 316.
Building on the success of the inaugural edition, this year’s event has been expanded to include student-led startups, faculty-led ventures, and early-stage Sharjah-based startups. Each category reflects the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial energy which will help in shaping Sharjah’s economic future.

 317.
A total of nine startups participated in the event, each delivering a five-minute pitch followed by a short Q&A session. In total, the startups successfully attracted investment commitments exceeding AED 4 million.

 318.
The event featured an impressive lineup of investors and business leaders, including Abdallah Abu Sheikh, Founder of Abu Shaikh; Mishal Kanoo, Chairman of Kanoo Group; Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop; Mohamed Khadiri, CEO of Bank of Sharjah; Sherif Beshara, CEO of Mohamed & Obaid AlMulla Group and American Hospital Dubai.

 319.
Through a dynamic “Shark Tank”-style pitching sessions, startups presented their ventures, received direct feedback, and secured real-time investment interest, a testament to the region’s growing culture of collaboration between innovators and the investment community.

 320.
The event concluded with a recognition ceremony, which honored investors and startup participants for their continued commitment to empowering innovation and entrepreneurship in Sharjah.

 321.
Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SPARK, said: “Seal the Deal has grown into a unique platform that brings together academia, investors, and the private sector to transform research and innovation into sustainable businesses. Sharjah’s model of collaboration is driving meaningful impact across industries and communities.”

 322.
Sara Al Nuaimi, CEO of Sheraa, said: “Seal the Deal reflects Sharjah’s evolving vision for entrepreneurship, one where ideas born in classrooms and research labs can grow into scalable, investment-ready businesses. Through our collaboration with SPARK and our partners across the ecosystem, we are building a pipeline that connects ambition with opportunity, ensuring that every founder in Sharjah has access to the mentorship, networks, and capital they need to thrive.”

 323.
H.E. Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah, affirmed that the Seal the Deal initiative embodies Sharjah’s vision of transforming innovation into productive investment – one that bridges knowledge with capital and translates genuine partnership between universities, entrepreneurs, and investors into a single, integrated ecosystem.

 324.
He added: “This initiative represents an advanced model of synergy between the academic and economic sectors, further strengthening Sharjah’s position as a regional hub for entrepreneurship and a leading destination for high-impact investments. The growing interest we see from investors today reflects the deep confidence in Sharjah’s innovation-driven environment and its ability to transform promising ideas into projects that generate lasting and sustainable economic impact beyond the initiative itself.”

 325.
Seal the Deal 2025 reinforces Sharjah’s reputation as a leader in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, offering startups and researchers access to investors, mentorship, and strategic growth opportunities. As the event concluded, attendees were reminded that innovation does not end at the event — it continues through every conversation, mentorship, and investment that will follow.

 347.
CPO Roundtable hosted by CIPS MENA in partnership with EcoVadis highlights regulation, CFO buy-in and supplier engagement as key drivers

 348.
Dubai, 24 October 2025: Procurement leaders across the UAE are signalling a decisive shift from traditional green procurement to comprehensive responsible sourcing, driven by new regulations, CFO buy-in, and supplier engagement. This was the central theme at an exclusive Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) Roundtable hosted by Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), in partnership with EcoVadis, in Dubai.

 349.

 350.
Senior procurement executives from leading organisations explored how the UAE is setting a regional benchmark by integrating sustainability into the very core of procurement strategy. With regulatory developments such as the UAE Federal Decree Law acting as a catalyst, the conversation underscored how procurement is now a powerful lever for driving sustainable impact, supplier transformation, and strategic value creation.

 351.
Participants highlighted the need to engage and educate suppliers, including those early in their sustainability journey, to ensure long-term progress. Collaboration, trust and clear communication of business value emerged as critical factors in accelerating responsible sourcing adoption. Internal capacity building was also identified as key to supporting this transition and strengthening talent attraction and retention.

 352.
Salem Bafaraj from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) noted the potential to link responsible sourcing initiatives to the In-Country Value (ICV) programme. Other participants pointed to growing CFO interest in placing a premium on sustainable solutions, and the opportunity to connect sustainability performance to more favourable financing terms, an opportunity often underutilised by procurement teams today.

 353.
Natasha Schulz of Dubai Holding and Sofiya Poland of ALEC contributed powerful insights, emphasising the immense opportunity for the region to set a global benchmark for responsible sourcing.

 354.
“Responsible sourcing is a strategic imperative. Procurement leaders are uniquely positioned to drive measurable change by embedding sustainability into every layer of the supply chain. What we’re seeing in the UAE is not incremental, it’s transformative,” commented Sam Achampong, Regional Director, CIPS MENA.

 355.
The session concluded on an optimistic note, highlighting the importance of celebrating both small wins and large achievements in sustainability to build momentum and inspire broader action across industries.

 356.
This roundtable forms part of CIPS MENA’s ongoing efforts to convene senior procurement leaders and shape future-ready strategies that embed sustainability at the heart of business.
