22.

It's my first time posting here, and I'm not tremendously experienced when it comes to working with VCRs. I have a decent capture workflow set up and have digitized most of my family's Hi8 collection, but it was time to move on to our extensive Betamax library. I wanted an EDV beta player mostly due to the S-Video output for capturing, so I finally pulled the trigger and bought a unit from Japan. I picked a seller that accepted returns, and I knew it would be a gamble to buy something like this sight unseen. Shelling out for one of Mister Betamax's units would be great, but it just wasn't financially viable.
23.
24. Anyway, I received the unit this past week, and it had some dents and dings, but was in decent shape cosmetically. It loads tapes perfectly fine, the picture seems very good. Unfortunately, it makes a strange sound during playback. I recall other forum posts warning about worn-out head bearings on these units, and one user suggested returning a unit if it made noise during playback. I have attached a short video of the sound, and would greatly appreciate any opinions. The mic on my phone made the noise quite a bit louder than it is in the room.
25.
26. If it helps, I can upload a short unprocessed AVI of a known good tape from VirtualDub. I was going to include a 100mb clip in this post, but I can't seem to upload it. I can hopefully attach it to a follow-up post.
27.
28. Any input would be appreciated. The sound does not seem healthy to me, but I'm hoping it might be something minor. I have a much older SL Betamax VCR, and while it does make a whining noise, it is not quite as rhythmic as this EDV machine. I don't have anyone local to me (that I know of) who services VCRs, but I'm hoping there are some experts here who can offer some guidance. The options are: Keep using the unit to Digitize tapes despite the noise, return it and roll the dice on another Japanese EDV machine, or attempt to get someone to repair it.
29.
30. Thanks

It's an AVC in MKV and is interlaced (3:3 Pulldown I think is the term). I want to preserve the interlacing, but my normal trimming app, AVIDemux, deinterlaces/IVTCs it. I also tried the stock VDub2 using Direct Stream Copy but that popped a message saying it can't do it. VideoRedo won't preserve the interlacing either.
85.
86. I would be grateful if anybody can suggest a method where I can trim that video to retain only from the 3sec mark to 9sec while preserving the interlacing/TC.

 98.

Hello, I have many hours of video filmed on an SD card using a Canon G30 and G50 camcorder. The main thing I will be doing is clipping unwanted scenes out of the video. For example, if the video is 30 minutes long, I may only want 10 minutes of video. The goal is to make sure the new clips are the highest quality possible. I heard it is hard to get it to be lossless, and if it is the file sizes are huge. Also heard the non-lossless editors make the new clips so good the human eye cannot detect the difference compared to the original.
99.
100. Any suggestions what the best and easiest software is for editing clips? I would rather not have free versions because of the tie to malware. At the same time, I don't want to spend thousands by having monthly fees. Hoping something in the $200-$300 a year range. I appreciate any help.
My record is 0.1 Mb short: 7329.6 Has is to do with the fact that I do not live in Germany? I used a site, which I thought would do it for me: https://4kdownloadguru.com/how-to-download-ardmediathek-videos/ I found other ways, but those only allow me to download in small sizes and not so good quality. This is the video I would love to have: https://www.ardmediathek.de/video/br-klassik-im-tv/bayreuth-baroque-max-emanuel-cencic...5lYnJvYWRjYXN0 Anyone has any suggestions or can help me out? 276.
Hi all,
 277. I have a .mp4 video ripped on Sony V8 tape by a profession shop. Some sections of the video have screen jerking/jumping, unclear to view. The profession shop blames that it is the quality of the recording.
 278. Please advise is there any way to fix the problem. Thanks in advance.
