280.
One of the things that makes Hawaii great is its people. One such person, whom I wish I had met, is John “Jackie” Maguire. Although he was not rich or famous, he was one of the many everyday people with whom we share these islands. His obituary in the Star-Advertiser on May 10 described a life that was amusing, curious and memorable. Catching and eating flies is not something I would do, but I do wonder whether my life would have been more like John’s if I had.
