918. <div>I'm trying to identify elements of what appear to be unusual uniforms in the attached photo. The men in the photo were Poles who joined the ranks of the Soviet partisans then merged into the Red Army. The man on the left was discharged from service in November '45  as a Senior Lieutenant and the one on the right was invalided out in December of '45. The photo was likely taken in '46. For what event I don't know. Their tunics seem to be American-style 4 pocket, open collar (peaked lapel not notch) uniform jacket. Quite unlike what I know to be Soviet in style. They don't appear to show any discernable rank (epaulettes are not soviet style shoulder boards) and by playing with contrast I can make out rectangular collar tabs with some sort of device on them. Caps are pilotkas and I'm pretty sure I can make out a star on the Front.  Can anyone offer any insight? <br />

1197. This letter was written by a German named Josef Etzel. He had been captured during the war and brought over to the United States and kept in Camp Concordia, in Kansas. Construction of Camp Concordia began in February 1943 and the POW camp was turned over to the US Army on May 1, 1943. At its peak, Camp Concordia 4,027 Prisoners. <br />

1199. All of the prisoners at Camp Concordia were members of the German Army. Most were captured in Africa, and the first POWs came from Rommel’s Afrika Korps. Only the enlisted POWs worked, most of them on farms, but some worked on the railroad or in the ice plant. The POWS had their own band and newspaper.<br />

1295. <div>I am researching about my great grandfather who was prisoner in Stalag VIIB - Memmingen. In our family, we know that he was captured and sent to stalag, and after that, every information that has been known about him was lost.  In Yugoslavia, he was registered as killed in stalag by Germans. But, i ve contacted Bundes Archive in Germany, and they sent me documents about him, that he was captured april in 1941. and relased from stalag in november 1941.<br />
1296. There was a some kind of information that when he was relased from stalag, that he was on a way back to Yugoslavia via organized prisoners transfer via train, and that he was killed near Zagreb by Ustashas. That information can not be verified.<br />
1297. Now i am looking to expand my search on information about relasing prisoners in that time period, train and rail information, maybe some political information in that time, looking in old newspaper, and so on.<br />
1298. Here I need someone who knows better situation in that period and someone who can look at the documents i ve got from Bundes Archive, knowing German is plus and tell me something i didnt see.<br />

1533. Here's the latest arrival: a nice Ferdinand Hoffstätter L/19 with a non-ferrous metal core.<br />
1534. The distinctive straight sword needle and massive C-hook make this one easy to recognize even if the L/19 mark should not be present.<br />
1535. FH was also a maker of the Dutch NSB membership pins and some other NSB hardware, which makes this an interesting maker to me.<br />
1536. The case is not original to it I guess, it is the common case used with PKZ crosses. But the condition is nice, and as the prices of cases almost doubled after Covid, I am happy with every case I can lay my hands on for a good price.<br />

1902. Does anyone know a timeline of British helmet paint colours? I've seen reference to Bronze Green, SCC2 Brown and Olive Green, with surviving originals showing one or the other. I'm reluctant to simply match the paint colour to the year stamped on the helmet owing to the practise of repainting, both during and after the war. <br />

1904. Can anyone tell me at what point during the war helmets were painted in these colours?<br />

1920. <div>I recently purchased this Meiji ear WW2 Japanese Senior Red Cross Dirk. The handle is made of tortoise shell and it measures 38cm overall and the blade is 25cm. It is larger and more opulant than the standard 1883 Naval Officer's Dirk, which leads me to believe that it is a high ranking officer's dirk like an Admiral /General/ high ranking governemnt official. I cannot find any information on this dirk as it is rare. I purchased several books on the subject but, they do not have any information on it. I would like to know what kind of military or government official would have carried such a beautiful dirk? Approximately when was this made? What military branch carried it? What type of high ranking official would have this? Was it made for ceremonial purposes or was it for combat? What is the Red Cross Society in reference to this dagger? What does the red cross symbol mean? How much do you think it is worth? Thank you everyone in advance for your help.<br />

3021. This Quiz will be an interactive one meaning that once you identify an helmet you can write a few words about it.<br />

3023. Example: Helmet #1 is the French M1915, casque Adrien, the first mass produced helmet of WW1.<br />
3024. Poorly designed but enjoyed by the &quot;Poilus&quot;, the Adrian helmet still saved many lives &amp; was exported to many countries.<br />
3025. Placed among his composite's great grandchild for its memory.<br />
