I have extensive experience working in the business world for a number of years. Human Resources and Information Technology departments were quite large in these companies. It was inevitable that they would make use of these extensive resources while conducting a staff survey. Employee surveys usually had a response rate of under 25%. No one paid much notice because these response rates were thought to be normal, and there were a few comments that complained about how low it was.

I find myself on the opposing side of the fence today. Over the last nine years, I've provided a variety of staff surveys to business clients. Several companies' human resources departments gave me the chance to chat with them recently. Companies like these were gathering questions for their own employee survey by browsing the web. After compiling these questions, their intention was to conduct their own poll internally.

This seems like a reasonable strategy at first. But I did request that the HR department think about this.

Protecting Personal Information

When it comes to employee surveys, privacy and confidentiality are two of the biggest concerns, according to workers. Based on our observations, the majority of employees feel uneasy about the prospect of their survey answers being stored on the company's computers. Even while a corporation takes every precaution to prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing survey data, the reality is that corporate employees are the ones actually handling the data and running the analyses. There has been a violation of confidentiality. Many potential for abuse exist under these conditions.

A few years back, Entec encountered a situation where the company president expressed his readiness to proceed with an employee survey. However, as he was footing the bill, he insisted on having access to both the database and the report that would be created from the survey. We were forced to abandon this project. The employees' privacy and confidentiality could not be guaranteed with absolute certainty.

Notifying workers that an outside entity would handle the entire survey procedure will greatly alleviate these worries. Entec informs employees about the firewall between the organization and Entec Corporation in the pre-survey emails, for instance. Our computers are off-limits to any employee. Nobody in our organization will be able to view or access our database. We categorically refuse to comply with any special demands made by upper-level management or anybody else inside the organization to view the data. I should mention that this has occurred twice in the last nine years. There can be no compromise on the importance of privacy and secrecy. Staff surveys have their advantages and disadvantages. Employees are always happy to hear their thoughts and opinions, on the one hand. Conversely, if people even have a nagging suspicion that their privacy is at risk, they will either not engage or give dishonest responses.

Amounts of Replies
The results' statistical validity will be enhanced with a high response rate. A big database is the result of a high response rate. With a big database, you may do data cuts that go deep into the company and provide useful insights. In order to conduct a thorough study that can identify concrete areas for improvement, a tiny database is inadequate. So, getting a lot of people to fill out an employee survey is crucial. For instance, response rates ranging from 82% to 95% have been achieved with the Entec survey procedure. Because of this, in-depth analysis is possible, which is above average. According to the data, the response rate for staff surveys conducted by the organization is usually 30% or below.

Build a Survey

Creating an employee survey entails three distinct steps: formulating the questions, establishing a scoring methodology, and organizing the questions. Here at Entec, we operate on the premise that the efficiency of the analysis phase is directly correlated to the way questions are structured. Accordingly, we needed to structure the questions such that they represent the conclusion we were aiming for if we wanted the analyzes phase to clearly lead to guidelines for subsequent implementation. Employee engagement modeling, the initial stage in survey design, was driven by this line of thinking and was carried out by Entec. Following the completion of the model, the survey questions were inserted into the corresponding sections of the model. You can find a more detailed description of this method in the section on Reliability and Validity that follows. There is, in fact, a specific sequence to the inquiries. We are able to offer specific recommendations for further actions since this ordering guides the study.

Analyzing Survey Results

Not only are the questions themselves crucial, but so are the analyses derived from them. Providing percentages is just one part of the survey analysis. An explanation of the data's significance should be included in the study. Consider this scenario: what is the relationship between the results of one set of questions and those of another? When it comes to concerns about employee motivation and performance, some are significantly more relevant than others.

For instance, the following leadership comments were statistically associated with the statement "There is little to no office politics and gossip" in one company: "Deal with underachievers as needed," "Resolves conflicts in a fair and appropriate manner," and "Sets a good example through actions and words" are all part of the job description. Through this kind of research, additional leadership characteristics that surfaced repeatedly were shown to be crucial to the culture of this specific firm. The investigation resulted in the identification of top-level leadership actions that significantly affected best practices. Consequently, the HR team had a clear list of behaviors that required coaching in a particular order of importance. A comprehensive assessment of the company's supervisors' performance against these behaviors was also included in the survey report.

Not every company will associate these similar statements with the same actions. Depending on the culture of the firm, they can differ slightly. Using office politics as an example, studies have demonstrated that a poisonous work environment is characterized by rampant gossip. Here, the results of this sort of analysis reassure the business that it is taking the correct steps to reduce rumors and boost productivity.

Validity and Reliability

Gathering questions and constructing a survey is something everyone can do. Nevertheless, this begs the question. When using these questions, how will you ensure their validity and reliability? What this means is that when an organization makes its own survey, it should ask itself if it has the in-house expertise and resources to assess the survey's reliability and validity to make sure it will yield meaningful data.

Entec Corporation dedicated an entire year nine years ago to creating a set of questionnaires. Multiple steps were involved in the procedure. Step one was to put together a diverse team of experts with backgrounds in areas such as strategic management, organizational development, leadership, psychiatry, and behavioral psychology. Based on these models, this group produced questions. Before being pilot tested, they were put to the test with a large number of focus groups across a variety of industries. Analysis of reliability was carried out. Analysis using principal component methods was carried out. The surveys were revised after extensive analysis and pilot testing. To guarantee that clients receive surveys that will yield the best potential results, this iterative approach persisted and is still in use today.

Final thoughts

There are two options available to someone who is unwell, in discomfort, and running a temperature. They have two options: either take a fever or see a doctor. Taking a temperature does not provide them with nearly enough information to make an informed decision about how to intervene to improve their health. They can get helpful information and a plan for intervention from their doctor if they visit and undertake a battery of tests.

It is also the same way to conduct a survey of your staff. Companies are intricate webs of people. The results will be comparable to taking a temperature if you use an unproven employee survey method, an unproven survey procedure, and basic analysis. Taking a temperature more than once makes it harder to zero down on concrete steps to boost performance. This, in turn, de-motivates the individual. When workers fill out surveys, their expectations are boosted. Employee cynicism and decreased productivity occur when the post-survey process does not demonstrate any significant improvement.

If you choose to carry out a survey, a thorough diagnostic will provide results that indicate where to focus your follow-up efforts. All the necessary data will be sent to the group so it can proceed and accomplish its goals. To get useful results from an employee survey, you need to pay attention to the questions, the structure, the methodology, and the analysis and interpretation of the survey. An organization's capacity to successfully implement all the essential procedures for conducting an employee survey is hindered by the intricate nature of employees' views and expectations.

When applied to historical data, every system you're likely to read about performs admirably. You would never learn of its failure in the past if it had worked. The future, however, is constantly a mystery, and trends can and do shift. Investors would have avoided a steep fall had a mechanism been put in place for the market trends of the 1970s, which encompassed a two-year severe bear market. The 1980s were defined by a protracted bull market, therefore that wasn't necessary. Also, doing backtests on a system that was perfected in the 1980s would have yielded poor results compared to the 1970s. Investors have been more injured than helped by defensive strategies thus far in the 1990s.

Market timing isn't going to be easy if you feel emotionally secure knowing exactly what's occurring with your investments at all times. Despite your best attempts, market timing's performance and direction will frequently elude your comprehension. Furthermore, they will disobey logic. The market's moves could appear understandable in the absence of timing. There are many analyses of every blip that appear in print, online, and on the media every single day. Since economic and market tendencies tend to last, they give the impression of being somewhat reasonable. When you start timing your investments, though, everything changes. No one can tell you how your timing models function unless you built them and know them inside and out, or unless you do the math yourself on a daily basis. Asking yourself to buy and sell based on faith is a common task. Because timing performance is dependent on how your models engage with market trends, the reason behind your short-term results might not be immediately apparent. Your results may appear arbitrary when compared across years, quarters, and months.

As a general rule, most of us tend to assume that the status quo will persist. However, you can't do that with market timing. Immediate previous performance will have little bearing on future performance. So, there's no telling what's going to happen next. For the sake of this *timing simulator*, let's pretend that you have complete knowledge of the monthly returns of a successful approach over a 20-year timeframe. There will be a lot of positive returns and a lot of negative returns among those monthly returns. Picture this: you make a deck of cards with all the returns written on it, put them in a hat, and then start drawing them at random. Think of it this way: you have a stack of poker chips to work with. Chips are awarded if a positive return is drawn. But in this game, you have to give up some chips to *the bank* when your return is negative. You can be reasonably certain if the first six cards you get are all positive. And you'll be hoping that the fun times keep rolling. Your joy may be short-lived, though, if you get a card that represents a loss out of the blue. And if you lose a lot of chips on the first card you draw, you could start to question if you still want to play this game. Even if you know the drawing is completely random, it's still possible to feel like you're on a *negative roll* and assume that the upcoming quarter will be just like the last if you get two bad cards in a row and see your chip pile diminish. But you can't even begin to guess what the next card will be. All of this is readily apparent when one is merely engaged in a game of poker. Actually, though, it's more challenging. For instance, our Nasdaq portfolio strategy, which aimed to beat the Nasdaq 100 Index, generated a return of 5.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2002, which was quite good for a portfolio that was solely invested in technology funds. However, Q1 2003 saw a decline of 7.8 percent after that. At least among those who were aware of this method, the majority of investors persisted. Nonetheless, the loss and the abrupt change in fortunes caused them great undue stress. This same thing occurred, but in much larger numbers, with our more aggressive tactics. Some people put their money into those portfolios in the winter of 2002, and they were surprised to see such large losses in the first quarter. Some people got out of the company because they thought the losses would keep piling up. Had they been patient for just a little longer, they could have made double-digit gains in the rest of 2003, more than making up for their losses. Naturally, though, it was impossible to predict in advance.

All market timing systems have been *fine-tuned* to fit historical data, although most timers will deny this. What this implies is that they are based on data that has been hand-picked to ensure that they enter and exit the market at optimal moments. Consider it in light of this comparison. Just pretend for a second that we were attempting to use the last 30 years to create a better Standard & Poor's 500 Index. Looking back, we could likely greatly enhance the index's performance with just a couple minor tweaks. It would be easy to *exclude* from the index, for example, the worst-performing stock industry and any companies that have declared bankruptcy during the last 30 years. That would get rid of most of the *junk* that was causing performance issues before. To boost the new index's return even further, we could increase the weightings of a handful of selected stocks—for example, Microsoft, Intel, and Dell—in the index. A new *index* would be created, which has historically outperformed the actual S&P 500 in terms of return on investment. We could think we've found something important. No one needs a crystal ball to see that this plan won't lead to better results in the following three decades. By playing around with historical data in this straightforward way, you can easily create a *system* that passes the eye test. The term "data-mining" describes the process of sifting through large amounts of historical data in search of relevant pieces of information that can be "fitted" into a preconceived ideology or reality model. Any inferences drawn from data-mining are ill-founded and should not be trusted as indicators of future events, according to academic researchers. One way or another, data-mining or optimization is the foundation of every market timing system. If you want to create a timing model, your only option is to look at previous periods and try to replicate their successes. The optimization principle underpins all market timing models. One issue is that some systems, like as the improved S&P 500 example, are overly optimized and discard historical data in a manner that may not be dependable going forward. To illustrate the point, we lately examined a system that included some *rules* for when to send a purchase signal, and then we included a filter that said such a buy may only be sent out during four particular months annually. Since it eliminates the ineffective purchases from the previous eight months, that system appears great on paper. No foolproof method exists for distinguishing between systems that are over-optimized and those that are sufficiently optimized. In general, though, you should seek out simpler systems rather than more complicated ones. It is more probable that an extremely complicated system will generate spectacular hypothetical returns than a simpler one. However, you may anticipate the simpler system to act in a predictable manner.

If you want to make it as an investor, you need to think about the big picture and be able to tune out the little things. For those who want to buy and hold, this might be a rather simple task. However, if you try to time the market, you'll get entangled in the process and end up thinking just about the here and now. It's not enough to just monitor short-term shifts; you'll also need to respond to them. Plus, you'll need to disregard them right away. Listen, I know it might be tough at times. Smart people in the real world usually do one last *gut check* to see how they really feel before making a big decision. Following a mechanical method, however, requires you to forego this commonsense measure in favor of immediate action. On occasion, this becomes challenging.

There will be extended stretches when your results are lower than or higher than the market average. You need to broaden your definition of typical, anticipated behavior to encompass participating in a falling market and exiting a rising one. On occasion, your earnings may fall short of money market fund rates. And if you're timing your short bets, you can end up broke while everyone else is flush with cash. Is that something you can roll with the punches as an investor? Avoid putting money into that plan if you can help it.

Poor outcomes are possible with even the best timing system. Even while it may seem apparent, market timing is only another chance to be right or wrong and another layer of complexity to investing. No matter how well your timing model predicts market movements, it will provide unexpectedly good or bad results when applied to a fund that invests in anything other than the market. Use money that correspond well with your system for this purpose.

For me, the most important thing is that timing is really difficult. In my opinion, having someone else handle the actual timing moves is the way to go for most investors. A professional can handle it for you. Another option is to delegate the trade-making to a trusted coworker, friend, or family member. In this approach, you can avoid letting your emotions interfere with your discipline. With your system in place, you can relax and enjoy your holiday. Above all else, you won't have to deal with the emotional ups and downs of entering and exiting the market.

The adage is universally applicable to any collection of individuals with a shared objective. You can find out where things went wrong by following the trail of movement when progress stops and problems arise; in this case, it was due to inadequate training.

Is anything like this anything you've ever dealt with?

Horror Show: Fast Food:

As you approach the drive-thru window of a fast food joint, a foreign-sounding voice blurts out what you can only interpret as a request for your order: "May I take your order?"

A horrible waitress:

At a neighborhood restaurant, you wait for half an hour before a server comes over to your table and requests if you would like to place an order. Sighing condescendingly, she says, "The kitchen is backed up and I just had a party of fifteen in the other room," in response to your courteous explanation that you're frustrated because you've been waiting thirty minutes.

Clueless Receptionist:

Unfortunately, the customer service representative whose phone number you've been attempting to reach over a malfunctioning device you bought never calls. Receptionists will tell you to try again later since the person you called is not in. The receptionist is unsure of the ideal time to reach the individual you are requesting, and unfortunately, they do not have voicemail.

Avoiding Travel-Related Stress:

After a twelve-hour journey, you finally reach the hotel where you're scheduled to spend the night. The posted check-in time is 3:30 pm. If the room is not prepared when you come, it will be 4:30 pm. We kindly request that you return in approximately one hour to verify the availability of the accommodation. You have an hour of "kill time" and the front desk clerk doesn't know what to do with it or even whether the room will be ready in that time.

Disarray in the Office:

Working in an office with a mountain of paperwork is a constant source of stress for you. Your team is meant to get help from an administrative assistant who is working about ten feet away from your workstation. You and he have different conceptions of what "support" means. He seems to have a preference for certain team members over others. Your supervisor interprets the disagreement you've brought up about the unequal distribution of resources as "personality differences." All you want is for the copies to be made quickly.

Everyone involved may benefit from some training to fix the problems highlighted above, which include bad service, mismanagement, and even "abuse" in a few situations. Consequently, "training issues" are cited as the cause of these business and retail disasters.

"Training" is an overly simplistic term. At the very sound of the term, images of dull classrooms, uninterested training teachers, and time wasted being forced to learn things that common sense has taught you already flood my mind. Training is rarely something that individuals look forward to.

My ironworker husband just finished an OSCA-mandated training session where he and his coworkers learned how to safely operate a forklift truck. "One should never leave the driver's seat of the forklift while the motor was running and the forklift was in gear." This was one of the most important training elements. Of course!

The truth is that training is more than just handing out information on technique and talent, despite the bad connotations that karma training has acquired in the corporate world and the attention it received during the dot.com boom.Additionally, it conveys the job's responsibilities and expectations. Training includes communicating expectations to trainees in a way that is both clear and concise. The groundwork for both praising and punishing performance is laid throughout training.

In each of these cases, the "untrained" worker has emotionally severed ties with the customer they are supposed to assist. Their desire to properly serve others is overshadowed by the personal difficulties that each of them is deeply concerned about. They would tell you something like this if you asked for their perspective:

"Nothing takes long at all in this place. I'm doing my best to stay up. Whenever I do something wrong, someone will tell me, but no one ever truly tells me what to do.

“If those I relied on could do theirs, I could do my job.”

"I'm sick and tired of being the one to take the heat when my bosses mess up."

Nobody has ever explained my role to me in detail. They must believe I can deduce the solution. Those around me have largely informed me of my job expectations by pointing out my mistakes. Here, everyone is out for himself.

Employers, not workers, are to blame for subpar service.

Ultimately, growth, productivity, and revenues are all negatively impacted by a lack of service. In the eyes of your rivals, your business will suffer dearly for its service gap. Ongoing promotions, more advertising, more hiring, and freebies for unhappy customers will be necessary to make up for it. Staff members that are content and appreciated are more likely to give excellent service. One of the most effective ways to make workers feel appreciated at work is through training programs.

In order to address the issues raised earlier, how might training be utilized? The most important thing is to establish and prioritize a training program. There's no need to resort to "training out of desperation" tactics like waiting until an emergency arises to provide instruction. Never forget that investing in your employees' training is a great way to show them how much you value and appreciate them. At its best, it will be well-received and give them a sense of validation.

Make sure to incorporate regular training into your schedule. The frequency can range from once every three months to once every seven days. Hire someone else to do it or do it in-house. Scheduled training opportunities will help you avoid costly service difficulties down the road.

Arrival at Work Orientation

When a new hire initially joins your team, the training they get is crucial. Take a look at this sample training program for new hires.

1. Make sure that every employee has a formal job description and that there is a procedure in place to update them regularly. This should be a business policy. Instead of focusing on duties, job descriptions should highlight skills.

Second, you should create an orientation program that all newly hired employees must complete. The duration of the program can range from half a day to a week, however it is expected that it will cover the following:Establishing rapport with the remaining employees.Have a detailed conversation about the role's responsibilities and the company's regulations with the person reporting to you, outlining your expectations and the steps to take should things go wrong. Let people have their say.Site tour - locate the kitchen, restrooms, parking, exits, and more.Forms and documents pertaining to employees, such as W4, waivers, benefit applications, records of personnel regulations, job descriptions, etc.An in-depth orientation about the organization's mission, values, strategy, clients, and the new hire's specific job within the larger organization is essential. In case the new hire has any questions, it's a good idea to have someone else on staff available to answer them.Have that coworker or yourself buy lunch for the new hire on their first day; it will go a long way.Schedule a 30-day review (don't forget to mark it on your calendar) to assess the new hire's progress and address any concerns they may have about the position. Please be aware that you will be sending a strong message to the employee regarding the importance you have on their professional growth if you decide to postpone or cancel this 30-day review. The new hire can't wait for this meeting because it's so important to them.

One of the best ways to learn about ways to enhance business infrastructure is through a training program, which also serves as a means of continuously dispensing necessary knowledge to your personnel. Employees can feel comfortable expressing themselves and offering suggestions for how the business can grow in this supportive setting. On top of that, when training is done right, it encourages employees, makes them feel loyal to the organization, decreases turnover, and opens the door to consensus building.

An investment, not an expense, is training and development.

Top firms, best small businesses, best companies to work for, and best bosses rankings in Fortune 500 have consistently shown an interest in employee happiness and development opportunities. For the second year running, the St. Louis, Missouri-based stockbroker Edward Jones has been named Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For."

Fortune reports that about 3.8% of payroll goes toward training, with new brokers receiving four times as much time as their current counterparts and an average of 146 hours for each employee. "If you don't invest in training, you'll never be able to escape the present," managing partner John Bachmann said when asked about the company's heavy investment in training. According to a writer from Fortune, an administrative assistant at Edward Jones once said, "I've never experienced working for a company that has so many satisfied employees."(#)

If you want to reduce employee turnover, boost performance, and inspire loyalty, a training program is a great place to start. It is also an excellent starting point for building effective internal communication strategies. If you do not already have a training program in place, you should seek out options at your local university or community college, or enroll in an orientation program. Gather resources that will help your employees acquire the skills you've identified as important by placing an order for relevant books, videos, and magazines. Implementing or enhancing a training program demonstrates your concern for your staff.

Propecia outperformed a placebo in multiple clinical trials that examined its impact on hair loss.

For one year, the males who participated in the studies—ranging in age from 18 to 41—took propecia orally. Contraceptives were administered to some of the men. Propecia prevented more hair loss in 86% of males or boosted hair growth in the treated areas. Hair loss persisted in just 14% of males.

It has been discovered that the medication propecia does not work for females. Propecia is not recommended for female pattern hair loss due to this and the risk of male fetal abnormalities. There is no evidence that Propecia works with a receding hairline, and no studies have examined its effectiveness in older men or individuals with total baldness. Because of its potential harmful effects on growing male genitalia, Propecia is obviously not a good choice for use by children.

As far as hair loss medications go, propecia is usually rather safe to use. Although some men did have negative effects, the majority of men who took it did not:

problems maintaining an erection

* decreased quantity of sperm

* reduced libido

When impacted individuals discontinued taking propecia, the symptoms subsided, suggesting that these alterations were transient. Even after reporting these negative effects, some men continued to use propecia normally. I was unable to determine from the report whether the negative effects were simply alleviated or if other measures were made to address them.

Propecia has only been tested on males for a maximum of two years, and throughout that time, these men experienced no issues with the medication. The mechanism by which propecia works appears to be relatively safe for long term usage, according to study conducted over a period of 32 years on males who are low on 5-alpha reductase, the enzyme that propecia suppresses.

Potential Risks Associated with Propecia Use

You won't be able to stop hair loss with Propecia. Propecia blocks the enzyme that converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, the active ingredient in the hormone. It achieves this by influencing the conversion-related enzyme catalyst, 5-alpha reductase.

Male pattern baldness is characterized by an overabundance of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the balding area of the scalp. Propecia effectively stops further hair loss and promotes hair regrowth by lowering scalp DHT levels. On the other hand, propecia has to be taken permanently if you want to keep the benefits going. Your hair loss will go back to how it was before you started using Propecia as soon as you stop taking the medication.

Propecia and Expectant Mothers

Because it can influence the development of a male fetus's sex organs, pregnant women should use extreme caution when handling propecia. Consequently, you should avoid touching any open packages or damaged tablets. Wear a glove if you really must. The active element of propecia, which could be a concern, is not visible on the exterior of the tablet because of the protection coating that protects unbroken tablets.

If you are a man taking propecia and your wife is pregnant, you need not be worried about her exposure to the active ingredient unless a broken tablet gets into her system. When her partner is taking it, she or the baby won't be hurt.

The fact that propecia reduces sperm production in some men means it could be an issue if you're attempting to conceive. Not all males have this side effect. Should you have any concerns, though, it's best to consult a medical professional.

Many companies realized the flaws in this approach in the 1990s and abandoned it in favor of focusing on what they do well and selling off their less important divisions. Therefore, "find a niche and stick to it" is a vital guideline for new small business owners to follow. This suggests that companies should avoid being generalists and instead focus on a certain subset of the market. To illustrate the point, consider a store that specializes in selling men's suits instead of men's clothing in general.

However, business owners don't always heed that counsel. As the previous example shows, they frequently mistakenly believe that targeting the largest potential audience will lead to more success than narrowing their emphasis. The author of this piece hopes to shed light on the process by which a small business owner finds their specialty, zeroes in on their ideal clientele, and musters the guts to turn down those who would do them harm.

Why dread becoming an expert in one area?

Many people wonder why it's so hard for small business entrepreneurs to carve out a certain market niche. Their fear is the primary factor, in my opinion. Because they are afraid they would lose clients if they focus on just one thing, they have decided to narrow their focus. When they are first starting out, this is something that a lot of business owners worry about.

Furthermore, a lot of people think this is a plus if they provide a variety of items and services. A general merchandiser in the apparel sector, for instance, could stock items for men, women, and children of all ages. On the other hand, they risk losing sight of their target audience if they do this. Continuing with the same example, the store might have a hard time luring in buyers of infant apparel. The shopper would be better served by visiting a store that caters specifically to infant apparel, since this establishment would likely have a wider selection of items. Therefore, in my opinion, it is not useful for a business owner to try to please everyone.

Does every firm require its own niche? That's another important question to ask. Most prosperous companies focus on just one or two specific areas. Microsoft, for one, has done well by mostly maintaining its Windows operating package lineup. By focusing on milk, Charalambides has achieved great success in Cyprus. Organizations of all sizes can benefit from the notion of specialization. Like a lone proprietor who would do anything to make a sale when the phone starts ringing, they can lose focus. Looking at the overall picture, one need just compare the recent success of British Airways, which offered a more comprehensive service, to that of EasyJet, a no-frills airliner. Even large corporations like British Airways are beginning to understand the need of returning their attention to what they do best.

Ways for entrepreneurs to steer clear of pitfalls:

Along with the aforementioned, it is necessary to determine how a business owner stays away from offering a generic service. The smartest business owners will know exactly what they stand for right from the start. With a sharper focus, companies can attract higher-quality customers, and they can attract their ideal clients without resorting to price competition, as they would perceive that the company truly cares about their problems.

Persuading clients that they are the best choice for their needs will require significantly less of an effort on their part. For instance, while there aren't many management consultants that specialize in helping sole owners, if one were to do so, they'd quickly define themselves and hurt their chances of competing. Because they are highly specialised, they will know all there is to know about the client's business and its challenges, which will make the potential clients extremely happy when they find them.

Is it going to be difficult for start-ups that are trying to break even to turn down customers? That's an intriguing subject. Despite popular belief, the exact reverse is true: it is what most business owners fear. When I approach pathologists about creating a specialization for their practice, I often see them handing over business cards that don't highlight their area of expertise. Because one does not know the doctor's area of expertise, it is difficult to suggest them in the event of a specific problem.

To contrast, imagine if a friend of yours mentioned a doctor who specializes in treating individuals with breathing problems and you were experiencing trouble breathing. Assuming your experience with the doctor was positive, would you choose them again if you or a friend needed medical attention for a breathing issue? Without a doubt, you would. By doing so, you can carve out a specialization and attract your ideal customers.

When starting a business, how does one identify a perfect niche?

Having a mission statement (i.e., the organization's purpose) can help keep everyone on the same page. When crafting a mission statement, I think it's important for business owners to consider three things: the problem they're most passionate about solving (the business's overall purpose), the people they want to reach (their target market), and how they will solve the problem while being true to themselves (their customers' values, standards, and ethics).

When planning their marketing strategy, business owners should think about how a niche fits into the bigger picture. The marketing, sales, and PR benefits of establishing a niche should be carefully studied. In business, having a clearly defined specialization makes everything easier. Customers who are already satisfied are more inclined to recommend your business to others who are experiencing the same issue. With this strategy, your PR and marketing efforts will be laser-focused. Instead of wasting time on unqualified leads, your sales team may zero in on the specifics and close deals with more probable customers.

There is no need for businesses to have niches in order to succeed:

Many would contend that there are prosperous companies that don't specialize on any one market segment. As an example, consider the extensive product selection offered by British Homes shop, a department shop. The way I see it, some businesses get off to a flying start thanks to a stroke of luck, whether it's a well-placed connection, a trendy location, or some other fortunate circumstance. I don't think being a generalist is a good strategy for most businesses in the long run since it prevents them from developing a distinctive character. Having no idea who you're selling to is like being at sea without a coursefinder. A lot of businesspeople seem to get this, but very few really do anything about it. This is due to their belief that they have an identity all along. They are so sure of themselves that they fail to notice that their clients aren't getting it. Customers nowadays choose specialty merchants, therefore the idea isn't functioning as well as it once did at British Homes Store. This has happened even though BHS is known to provide good value for money.

The issue that generalists may wonder is what they can do to fix the problem. In my opinion, they should survey their present clientele to find out more information. They should be asked to rate the firm's strengths and flaws in an anonymous survey. You should inquire as to why they choose this particular firm and what they say about it when they recommend it. A well-crafted survey can help a company owner identify areas of client dissatisfaction.

Business owners, in my opinion, would do well to avoid isolating themselves from their clientele and instead maintain open lines of communication with them. Careful listening, getting to know them, and determining their requirements are all necessary. I get that it's hard to satisfy every single client, but the proprietor need to have some idea of what they want. Prioritize the wants and demands of your ideal clients as a general guideline. The company should not be distracted by the desires and needs of every single customer. The reason behind this is that it simply cannot satisfy everyone. My view is that the company's biggest, most devoted, and longest-standing clients deserve the most treatment.

Lastly, it's important to think about how the average underfunded and overworked company owner finds the time to do all of this. Time is of the essence, and they must make it. Although it may seem like planning takes time away from operating your business, investing even a small amount of effort each month will pay off in the form of thousands of pounds in quarterly savings as you zero in on your ideal consumers.

People put off planning, in my view, because they are too busy fixing problems to give any thought to a long-term plan. However, rather than allowing their business to spiral out of control and thereafter attempting to rein it in, they should steer it in the direction they desire.

In essence:

We are rapidly approaching a new economic climate where our European operators are lean and focused (specialized) operations, as Cyprus draws nearer to EU membership. In my opinion, the only Cypriot businesses with any chance of survival will be those who specialize in a narrow market. For instance, in my opinion, a company that manufactures a wide variety of shoes would be less successful than one that exports halloumi, a specialized cheese. Therefore, Cypriot companies would do well to focus on their strengths rather than try to excel in everything. This approach can backfire in the end.

Oh my goodness!

Even more terrifying are the fatalities it has caused among the few humans it has touched thus far.

A small number of persons in different parts of the world have been infected with the H5N1 strain thus far. Contact with diseased birds was the cause of illness in humans. Up to this point, the article shows us how the H5N1 strain has affected the world.

• Back in 1997 in Guang Dong, China, the H5N1 strain didn't get much attention. This is because, back then, it had only infected a small percentage of chickens and geese.

• In 1997, in Hong Kong, the first human case of infection was reported. Of the 17 affected individuals, 6 succumbed to the disease.

Three people were infected when it reemerged in 2003 in Vietnam. And every one of them perished eventually.

• By January 2004, ten Asian countries had been hit hard by the epidemic. From its humble beginnings in Southeast Asia, it spread to Japan, China, South Korea, and Indonesia. To ensure that this wouldn't happen to people, almost 40 million tamed birds were killed. During this period, twenty-three Vietnamese and Thai civilians lost their lives.

The countries of China and Thailand saw new outbreaks in July 2004.

• In August 2004, due to a recurrence of an infection in Malaysia, Singapore restricted poultry imports from that nation. Poultry goods from Malaysia were likewise outlawed by the European Union.

• The H5N1 strain was shown to be more lethal than previously thought in October 2004. They discovered that the infection has a near-perfect fatality rate.

• In November 2004, a group was established to investigate its potential human health impacts further. The name of the initiative was the Influenza Genome Sequencing Project.

• The H5N1 variant killed approximately 1.2 million birds in January 2005 in Vietnam, a country where the virus had already spread to 33 of 64 provinces and cities. Approximately 140 million birds perished.

• The first human case of avian flu has been reported in Cambodia, leading to increased monitoring across the nation.

In March 2005, there were two reported cases of human-to-human transmission: one in Vietnam and one in Thailand.

• Eight further cases of infection were reported in Vietnam in April 2005.

• There were 97 confirmed cases of infection and 53 fatalities in Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia in May 2005. The worst affected nation was Vietnam, with 37 fatalities and 76 infections.

• Two other victims perished in Vietnam, and the first case of infection was documented in Indonesia in July 2005.

• Western Russia, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan were hit hard by the virus in August 2005. During this time, a swine virus killed 38 humans in China. Concerning WHO officials. This is due to the fact that pigs also serve as excellent hosts for the avian flu virus.

• In the fall of 2005 According to David Nabarro, the H5N1 pandemic has the potential to kill anywhere from 5 million to 150 million people. Additionally, he mentioned that the pandemic may originate in either the Middle East or Africa. Yesterday, H5N1 was detected on the African continent.

Turkey and Kuwait were the first countries to detect the H5N1 virus in 2005, in October and November, respectively.

• In December 2005, China reported its third fatality due to avian flu.

Currently, the H5N1 strain's spread can appear to be somewhat slow. Still, it's a good thing this virus isn't turning into a global epidemic just yet. The truth is that we are still in a pre-prepared world.

Through the first 70 years of this century, the US was the industrial giant of the world. In 1960 the words "Made in Japan" was thought to be a joke. By 1980, those same words had become the standard for manufacturing. In 1985, U.S. manufacturing was in a deep depression. Products were too costly, of poor quality and not innovative enough.

Now, again, America is ranked No. 1 in manufacturing (World Competitiveness Report, 1996).

Mass customization

America’s No. 1 standing is primarily due to the manufacturing revolution that has been under way since 1985. This quiet revolution is built on the unsurpassed innovative spirit of the American people. Innovation is one of the qualities upon which America is founded. American manufactures are the world’s leading innovators. The right combination of technology and people is a good foundation for any company. These technologies are leading to a major new phenomenon: mass customization, which is the ability to customize products literally in quantities as small as one, while producing them at mass-production speeds. Mass customization in the Information Age is replacing the mass-production model of the Industrial Age.

The ultimate outcome will be simultaneous manufacturing. Here, even as the customer is giving the order, the product starts to be manufactured. It may seem like a fairy tale, but the time is fast approaching when a customer will stand at a retailers fitting room, download their personal measurements into a computer, choose the pattern and variety of material wanted for their clothing and before they leave the outlet their order is in production. Now that’s a truly empowered customer!

Over the past few years, there have been a number of articles written on lasers. Each author lists applications as it relates specifically to their area of expertise. However, what EdgeWISE Tools would like to do in this article is to stimulate you to visualize all the different ways you can use a laser to produce a variety of products. Let your imagination go. Don’t fear the unknown. Those that can see the future have the greatest opportunity to succeed beyond their wildest dreams. "Carpe Diem" - seize the moment!

Why use a Laser?

In 1985, thermal contact cutting tools were developed for roll feed plotters. The "Hot Tip" became the first large format cutting system introduced to the sign industry. This process became the corner stone that most plotter manufactures built on. Through evolution, the cutting hardware has changed and significant strides have been achieved. We have seen progressive steps taken to where technology is today.

Most old manufacturing technology uses contact cutting tools; where the tool actually contacts the surface, it is meant to cut. The cutting tools must be re-sharpened or replace often and as the tool wears out the quality is compromised. This antiquated method has become an additional source of income for the manufactures because they now get to market one or more consumable tools. Contact manufacturing with all its additional costs can now be replaced with a more economical solution.

The next giant evolutionary leap in cutting manufacturing is the replacement of contact cutting tools with non-contact tools. The next logical step is to use laser technology for mass customization. The traditional high cost of laser technology has delayed the development of the Roll Feed Laser (RFL). A day is like a year in technological development terms. However, recently the cost of laser technology has been reduced to the point where today it has become an affordable means of manufacturing.

Roll Feed Laser

In 1988, research and development began on the first Roll Feed Laser system (RFL). This research developed more than just a new product. It developed new concepts in manufacturing and new ways to manufacture. The realization of mass customization is appearing using lasers. The combination of these two things EdgeWISE Tools calls the laser manufacturing revolution. This laser manufacturing revolution we are beginning to see is becoming bigger than anyone has yet imaged. There are literally hundreds’, if not thousands’, of markets and industries that have yet to be discovered.

Can you change?

As history has proven, there are always those people that lack the foresight and intuition to respond to the changing trends of time. Ten years ago, in 1986, industry scoffed at the idea of a large format, computerized, cutting system becoming the main work tool for the trade. The resistance to change at that time was severe. Seven years ago most plotter manufactures laughed at the idea of a low wattage Roll Feed Laser system and could not see the potential for manufacturing one. Look at what is happening today, Since 1990, the number and diversity of applications for low wattage CO2, Nd:YAG and Diode laser systems have exploded. The CO2 laser market has grown on average of 60% per year. More people are recognizing the benefits of using a CO2 laser over other traditional manufacturing tools. Machinery like dies, routers, hot knives, and mechanical engravers are being replaced with affordable low wattage RFL systems. Ink jet printers, in some applications, are losing ground to the advancing low wattage laser used for marking.

What does this mean?

In what other business can you invest in a piece of equipment to produce such a variety of different products? Products can be manufactured using plastic, woods, fabrics, rubber, and metals. Because the kerf is very narrow and the laser controlled by a computer nearly any design can be cut. It is just as easy to cut one design as it is to cut a million. Comparing this too most manufacturing equipment, you could invest $50K to $500K on an offset printing press. However, you can only use this equipment to print on a specific type of material. A silkscreener, sign maker, engraver, or for that matter most everyone in the manufacturing field, will purchase a specific piece of manufacturing equipment to accomplish a specific task. A machinist may be one of the only people that will purchase a piece of equipment and be able to work a small number of different materials. The machinists’ limitations show up in the restricted types of designs he can shape. Nevertheless, even a machinist’s tools cannot work with the variety of materials and designs that one can attain using a Roll Feed Laser.

Acquiring capital equipment is usually difficult for a new or growing business. Capital investment is one of the major issues for a new or growing business. To a start-up company, or a company that is seeking to reinvest, capital investment is the one main issue that is becoming harder to justify. A piece of capital equipment that is designed for just one purpose is not cost effective when a multifunctional alternative is available. The capital investment to produce an exclusive product has become such an immense cost that these moneys are rapidly shrinking. Switching to the use of a laser for manufacturing is a contemporary new process. A process that, if not adhered to, could cost the business owner market share, and ultimately his market completely. Most of us have known someone that this has happened to in the past. Reluctance to change can cause the demise of any very good company. EdgeWISE Tools is unaware of any other process that can produce the variety of products and open up design creativity as much as what you get when you use the RFL. Nowhere else can you work with paper to plastic to wood and pretty much everything in-between and back again with one piece of equipment. The only challenge now is left up to the ingenuity of the owner or operator to produce the product.

Since a laser does not come in contact with or use force on the material being manufactured spoilage can be drastically reduced. Lasers will increase a companies yield. Some surveys show a yield rate of 95% to 99%. Having owned a graphic arts manufacturing facility in the late 1980’s, on the best of days the yield was 80% to 85% and on average the yield rate would be 75% to 80%. The lack of contact with materials attributes to the higher yield rates. Because the process of using a laser is automated, the process tends to be far more repeatable than most methods. Once the process starts, it is frozen and day to day repeatability is maintained.

The future is at hand!

Imagine the industrial revolution...now imagine the industrial revolution with mass customization. A comparable example mass-customization is the jeans industry. Only the affluent could afford to purchase a pair of custom-made jeans from a tailor. Most consumers can only buy jeans in sizes manufactured to suit the cost of production, not body shapes. As mass-customization technology is available, manufacturers need to again provide the American people with a quality product. The jeans and roll feed laser industries are forerunners in the race to make mass-customized products accessible to consumers

The industrial revolution made products affordable by mass-production. This mass-production required only one setup to produce thousands of pieces. The cost for tooling is one of the largest expenses, which controls the break-even-point. During the industrial revolution, customization was compromised to maintain low manufacturing costs. Today, however, you have the opportunity to choose to take the next step to processing power, user-friendly software, low wattage laser technology, and minimal to no setup time. As you contemplate capital investments, consider end-product quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency of roll feed laser technology.

Worldwide Dementia?

Worldwide Dementia?

It is starting to make me question whether the scientists have been completely incorrect. Everyone has been dreading the end of the world because of the ozone layer, a massive asteroid, or a terrorist group's release of a biohazardous substance. Instead of focusing on ourselves, we have spent this entire time observing the world around us.

The most recent research has uncovered two shocking facts: 1. The space in the ozone layer is getting smaller, and 2. The amount of light reaching Earth is decreasing. Does this prove that the whole concept of global warming is an elaborate hoax? Is this to say that the companies who have been carelessly abusing our planet for so long were correct? The tree-hugging hippies' minds have melted from taking too much LSD?

The grants granted to scientists by governments—which are, naturally, influenced by business interests—seem to be inversely proportional to their intelligence. They have examined the emerging phenomenon of Global Dimming and concluded, "It can't be getting warmer with less sunlight!" As word gets out that the ozone layer is shrinking, they will surely use the impressive efforts of their donors to lower greenhouse gas emissions as an excuse to claim that the ozone layer is self-renewing.

Just as cigarette corporations ought to be held responsible for the deaths of all their customers, so too ought such statements to be deemed criminal. It is imperative that the public understand the reality of their corporate objective. The working class has the power to decide our own fate and set new conditions for the ozone-depleting corporations. The air must be clean. The discharge of contaminants into our waterways must immediately cease. Please do not take down our woods any faster than we can replace them. To power our homes and cars, we need new, safer energy sources. We are demanding all of this because we are witnessing the Earth's demise firsthand.

While the hole in the ozone layer has shrunk, the protection it provides on a global scale has become less robust. This chasm above Antarctica is simply the tip of the iceberg. Every year, every month, every day, more dangerous radiation is let in. In the past, we could let our kids play outside all day long. Special UV-protective sunscreen was unnecessary. Nowadays, the sunscreen market is booming, and people only need to spend 20 minutes outside before they start to feel the sun's sting. Until studies indicate that cancer has reached pandemic proportions, no one will do anything about it for another fifteen to thirty years. We have previously seen the red flags; we're just ignoring them.

So far, the most exemplary case is global dimming. Researchers have begun to notice that the planet's light levels have been steadily declining. Rain and snow are obstructing the sun's rays. One would naturally assume that whatever is blocking the sun's rays is also preventing heat from escaping. Also, the thing blocking the sun's rays isn't always shielding us from harm. More likely, it is starting to blanket Earth with more dangerous radiation that causes cancer.

Although I don't claim to have a scientific degree, I do claim to have common sense. Science has only been able to pinpoint a number of problems; it has not provided any evidence of how we arrived at these problems or the solutions that will lead us back to our original state. In my opinion, there might be too much corporate meddling to make any firm decisions. What a triumph for the corporations who will never stop polluting our planet. Adding global dumbing to the list of worst things we can do as a population is absolutely unacceptable. Make a move; be astute. Collectively, you have the power to create change, even if you feel helpless on an individual level. Even while there will always be a wealth gap in our society, it doesn't mean we have to put up with the methods used by the powerful to amass their fortunes.Use the bus or trainGet a hybrid vehicle.

As consumers, we can influence change by altering our buying patterns. Prompt businesses to listen by using the language they are most familiar with: net profit. They will listen to us loud and clear if we cut into their revenues!

When a company is on a tight budget, how can it find ways to save money on goods and services? You have my straightforward answer. Boost the buying power of each company by joining forces with other small firms. It could be costly, time-consuming, and resource-intensive to put plans into action to establish a buying group. These purchasing group components are often in short supply among small company owners.
The idea of purchasing groups consisting of numerous small and medium-sized enterprises is not new. Just in the past several years has the concept's implementation been available. There has been a complete and utter collapse of the national buying organizations that emerged throughout the last five years. A lot of these buying groups failed, and I'll explain why later on in the piece. Members of one of the few remaining buying clubs can take advantage of steep discounts offered by 37 different national vendors according to an alliance that these groups have created. One of the first national buying groups to do away with membership dues entirely was the Hospitality Buying Group. All of the national buying groups that are part of the newly formed Hospitality Buying Group Alliance can join for free for life. The time it takes to compare prices across alliance vendors and what members are now paying is the only investment members' businesses make.

Surely you must be thinking that this is all a hoax by now. They must be making a killing if the Hospitality Buying Group Alliance is giving out lifelong memberships. There can be no other source of income other than merchants if members do not contribute financially. On every purchase made by a member of the buying club, the suppliers pay a commission to the organization. The sellers don't take any chances because they only pay the commission if they receive payment from the members of the buying group. In order to provide the business members with the maximum discounts, the commissions are kept relatively low.
When consumers use their credit cards at participating businesses, some of these corporations, like American Express, give a discount or a percentage back in the form of cash. Credit card savings of 2-5% is nice, but shopping in bulk can save you 10% to 50% more money. Only the alliance vendors who the buying group members have explicitly requested will they be contacted. Additional vendors are interested in providing their services to members of the buying clubs as they grow in popularity.
Why don't most buying groups succeed if the idea behind them is so great? The startup costs for most of the unsuccessful buying groups ranged from several hundred thousand to well over a million dollars. Worse yet, they have substantial operating costs. During the early stages of the buying group's existence, when there are limited suppliers available to prospective members, this is taking place. They need to charge $500 to $10,000 per year to join the group so they can stay in business. Members can only anticipate yearly savings of a few thousand dollars due to the small number of vendors. Joining a buying club is a big commitment for many small company owners, and they aren't sure it will pay off in the end. As a result, hardly many memberships to the buying group are sold. A reduction in the sales force is a direct outcome of the purchasing group's inability to pay their operational expenses. The buying organization eventually goes out of business as a result of reduced revenues.
It only took a few thousand dollars and thousands of man-hours from a single or couple of people to launch each of the now-thriving national buying groups that comprise the Hospitality Buying Group Alliance. In the beginning, they only needed a few hundred dollars per month in operational expenses, on top of the many hours of labor put in by the proprietors. Profits were re-invested by the buying organizations as they expanded. The operation cost of the purchasing group is decreased by the utilization of technology. With this method, the purchasing group is able to achieve financial success. Prospective members should rest easy knowing the buying group has a solid foundation thanks to this information.
Since no coalition of buying groups has ever been created before, this is a historic moment in the history of buying groups. The moment to join the buying group alliance is now because of the expanding number of participating groups, the inclusion of free lifetime membership, and the complete freedom to choose any number of alliance vendors. At http://www.hospitality-buying-group.com/, you can find a list of all the national vendors that are part of the HRG Alliance.

You now have the option to order a complete dinner at a discount pricing instead of simply a sandwich. The fast food industry has really nailed the concept of product packaging as a marketing tactic. How can I explain bundling? Using this sales tactic, you can encourage clients to purchase more of your products or services at a reduced price. Combining your cleaning services and products into a single package can be an effective marketing strategy that boosts sales and provides clients with greater value.
It may appear like a no-brainer for certain companies to bundle services: a sandwich joint including fries and a drink, a car wash including a wax treatment in their premium wash, or a hardware store including paint rollers and a paint tray in their standard offering.

In addition to the regular maintenance that you already offer, there is a great chance for you to boost your earnings as a cleaning business by selling additional items or services. Customers will appreciate the convenience of having trash can liners, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, air fresheners, and ice melt on hand, even if you can't meet all of their supply demands. They can simply place orders with you for the materials they need, or you can offer to keep track of the inventory and replenish it as needed.
Be sure to visit your neighborhood janitorial supply store to get pricing on the same or comparable items before submitting a bid for a new cleaning contract. Take note of the products they are currently utilizing. Be sure to include a 10–15% markup on the product costs you intend to pay when drafting your proposal. Make it clear to the prospect that their monthly service invoice will include charges for materials used that month. Your client will have one less thing to worry about and you will have an additional avenue for profit when you fulfill their supply demands.
You can also boost your profit margin by bundling related services. Incorporate carpet spotting into your carpet cleaning service. I was wondering if your client has a break room. Make an offer that includes appliance cleaning as part of your package deal. Offering these services on a regular maintenance schedule, like once or twice a month, is another option.
Another chance to provide new services arises with the changing of the seasons. A "Spring-Cleaning Package" is a great deal for homeowners. Carpet cleaning, blind cleaning, and window cleaning are all services that you could wish to incorporate. When you bundle services, you don't have to give out steep discounts. Customers appreciate the convenience of having a single provider for all of their maintenance needs.
When deciding which services to package, what factors are considered? Jot down the different kinds of customers you have and the services you offer. Are you in the business of cleaning homes, banks, medical centers, or retail spaces? Compile a list of all the supplementary services you may offer that will be of great use to their company. Make such bundles available to your customers!
Including a flyer with your existing customers' monthly invoice is a great way to market your bundled services. Call your customers every so often to see how they are doing and if they have any complaints or suggestions. Not only may you ask for feedback during that conversation, but you can also inform the client about time- and money-saving goods and services that you offer.
You can diversify your cleaning business's revenue streams by offering customers bundles of services and products. Without investing a lot of resources into advertising, it allows you to up-sell to clients. You may boost your earnings and give your consumers the convenience of "one-stop shopping" by offering bundles of items and services.

Restrictions on cash flow, growth, and even the ability to continue operating your firm may result from consumer accounts that are not paid within the specified terms.
To help your company boost the quantity of consumer data it collects internally, we have compiled 11 guidelines in this paper.

First, establish clear policies for consumer credit and collections.
Not communicating with consumers and employees about when accounts are due is a leading source of overdue receivables. The likelihood of consumers paying late or not at all increases if they are not informed that accounts must be paid promptly. Each consumer customer should have a written copy of your company's payment conditions.
2] Always Send Statements on Time and Invoice Promptly
A well-organized billing and invoicing system is a must-have. Not billing or reminding the customer to pay on time is a common reason why their account hasn't paid. In smaller or newer companies, this is a common problem because there isn't enough staff to handle all of the invoicing.
3] Put in "Address Service Requested"
Locating a consumer who has "skipped" is one of the trickiest collecting challenges. A unique service provided by the Postal Service is something that every company ought to be cognizant of. The phrase "Address Service Requested" should be printed or stamped on the envelope of any statement or correspondence sent out by a business or professional office. This should be located right below your return address in the upper left corner. If a customer sends you a statement or invoice but doesn't tell you their new address, and the words "Address Service Requested" are on the envelope, the Postal Service will look into it and send it back to you with a yellow sticker that shows the new address or other updated information. The Postal Service is obligated to return the envelope to the sender upon receipt of a "forwarding order" from the consumer, provide you with a form #3547 that includes the new address, and assess a fee of approximately 50 cents. Your address books will be kept current in this way.
4] Get in Touch With Delinquent Customers More Regularly
It is not illegal to contact a consumer more than once a month. When it comes to collecting past-due customer accounts, the ancient saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" is very applicable. Notifying consumers who haven't paid within 10–14 days is a smart move. By doing so, you can politely bring the consumer's attention to your payment terms.
(5) Put Your Aging Sheet to Use, Not Your Emotions
Many companies (or well-intentioned employees) have "felt" that a client will pay at some time, therefore they have allowed an account to go past the point of collection. Although there may be rare exceptions, the reality is that someone else is getting paid even if you aren't. So, be consistent with your methodical follow-up approach. It won't be long until you can tell who is serious about paying and who isn't. When you are aware of your situation, you may take the necessary steps.
6] Ensure that your employees have received enough training
When dealing with unruly consumers, even the most "experienced" employees could grow cynical. When consumers make payment pledges and then fail to follow through, this situation often arises. Maintain a polite yet firm demeanor while dealing with them. Because they essentially have to "sell" your consumer consumers on the concept that you expect payment, your collection personnel could use some customer service training. Your consumer collections team needs to know how to keep the customer happy while also getting their payments paid on time.
7. Maintain Reliable and Up-to-Date Records of Payments
The prompt and correct recording of a consumer's payment history is of the utmost importance once credit approval has been granted. Immediate follow-up is necessary in the event that you observe a change in payment habits, particularly if payments become noticeably slower than usual. In addition to warning you of approaching payment issues, this gives you the opportunity to intervene early in the event that an external factor is at play.
8. Comply with Your State's Collection Laws
Both consumer collection agencies and companies are subject to the same collection regulations in many states. Negligible collection techniques, such as contacting clients at unreasonable hours or telling a third party that they owe you money, can have disastrous consequences. The state's financial department oversees and regulates collection companies; if you are unsure, you should contact them. A brief overview of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act can be found by clicking here.
9] Hire a Consumer Collections Agency That Doesn't Work for You In due time
Your client is sending you a message if you've methodically followed up on their overdue accounts for 60 to 90 days beyond the due date and they still haven't paid. You have probably already demanded payment four or six times by various means such as letters, phone calls, and statements. According to statistics, the impact of internal collection initiatives fades by 80% within 90 days. In other words, you should aim to collect the majority of your consumer accounts (or at least the majority of the funds allocated for them) during the first three months. Once that happens, the demand for payment is no longer emanating from you, but from a third party, who can then influence the consumer in a manner that you cannot. Investigate utilizing a flat charge collection service before utilizing small claims court, hiring an attorney, or paying a percentage to a consumer collection agency.
10] Own Up To Your Faults And Make Things Right
In the event that a consumer believes you have erred, they may choose not to pay. A lot of people think "the owner/president doesn't need the money" when they buy the product. Refusing to acknowledge a clear mistake will merely add fuel to the flames of anger your consumer may already be experiencing. Promptly reach a mutually agreeable resolution with the consumer if the non-payment is based on a dispute over the quality of your goods or service. A consumer may try to avoid paying a large sum by bringing up a small disagreement. Make it clear that you will negotiate the remaining amount and demand quick payment for the portion that is not in question. The customer will see that you care about their issues, and you'll also be able to collect money more easily.
11] Keep in Mind That Not Everyone Gets Their Money From Every Customer
Some customer accounts will never be collected, no matter how meticulously you plan and execute them. Both you and your business will benefit greatly from the time and effort saved by detecting these accounts at an early stage. Overall, you will see a significant decrease in the number of consumer accounts with sluggish pay or no payment as all, which is already a win!
No way!

Forming a corporation is one way to achieve this goal. To become a corporation, a company or nonprofit must undergo the process of incorporation. Doing this will help your company and yourself in many ways. And if you own a firm in Florida, you might reap even bigger rewards by forming a corporation there.

The overall advantages of forming a corporation for your business are quite enticing. For instance, when you form a corporation, your private wealth is shielded from legal action and demands by creditors. Officers and stockholders of a corporation are liable only to the extent of their investment. Furthermore, companies are able to possess private property, such as houses or cars. These assets are safeguarded in case the individual becomes personally involved in legal action or declares bankruptcy.

The formation of a corporation facilitates the simple transfer of ownership interests in the firm to other individuals or entities. A firm also finds it easier to set up various kinds of retirement plans and funds. On top of that, companies pay less in taxes than people do. In addition to reducing the amount of money you have to come out of your own pocket when you sell stocks to raise money for the company, another perk of forming a corporation is that it can stay in operation indefinitely, even after the deaths of key members. Another perk is that, unlike sole proprietorships, corporations have their own credit rating that is distinct from the founder's, so the chief officer's personal credit is not directly associated with the company's.

A large portion of Florida's yearly budget goes toward supporting the state's many attractions for tourists. With that in mind, it stands to reason that establishing or expanding your business in Florida will not only benefit the state's thriving economy, but will also be beneficial to your company's bottom line. Consider incorporating in Florida instead of other states for even more advantages for your company.

First of all, Floridians are exempt from paying federal income tax. If you form a Florida corporation with "S" status, you won't have to pay state income taxes until the second year. Doing this will assist you gain a lot of advantages down the road. Another thing about forming a company in Florida is that there is no minimum asset requirement. That eliminates the need for you to fork up a hefty sum of money. Particularly for young, small businesses that don't yet have a substantial amount of personal assets to invest, this is a huge boon.

The requirement that no more than one individual be involved in the company's operations is another perk of forming an LLC in Florida. Each corporate job must be filled by a separate individual in certain states. That condition is not applicable in Florida. Since the Florida Secretary of State's office does not require a list of individuals involved in your company or other personal information like addresses or phone numbers, even shareholders and other executives in your corporation (if any) can stay anonymous.

The process of forming a corporation in Florida is straightforward. One example is company formation. Because of the many advantages, most companies opt to form corporations.

Not that long ago, only very large companies could be incorporated. These companies are able to offer competitive pay and benefits packages that smaller, unincorporated businesses would have a hard time matching.

Other, smaller companies began to adopt the strategy in the mid- to late-century. Corporations are able to take advantage of tax breaks and exemptions, which can lead to significant cost savings that can be reinvested in the company.

Even small businesses began to incorporate in the 1970s due to the allure of the benefits offered by doing so. However, in later years, lawmakers began limiting the privileges enjoyed by large firms, so even tiny groups can now begin to enjoy extra fringe advantages. This meant that smaller companies may enjoy the same tax benefits as large corporations without having to incorporate.

There are still plenty of good reasons to incorporate, even after parity has been reached.

Pictures are one. A respectable title, such as president or chief executive officer of a company, can elicit respect from clients. In most cases, clients would rather speak with a company's senior executives than someone with a non-corporate title.

Another is the safeguarding of a company's interests in the acquisition of services. Many companies now demand that independent contractors become corporations before they can provide any services, in an effort to shield themselves from liability.

The authority of an incorporated company is extensive. It is required and protected by state legislation to have its own legal identity apart from its owners, investors, stockholders. It is capable of engaging in lawful transactions, such as entering into contracts and purchasing and selling homes and things.

Anyone from the company can act as the corporation's representative in the event of a legal dispute.

Anyone can sue a corporation for any obligations it incurs. No one can sue the owners, directors, or shareholders on behalf of the company because they are personally immune from personal liability and the firm's debts. Except in situations where an individual guarantees the corporate debt or as ordered by a court, the corporation will be required to use its own resources to pay off its own debts.

Because of its legal status as an independent legal entity, a corporation can continue operations long after its owners and shareholders have passed away.

Put simply, there are financial benefits and advantages to be gained from incorporating a corporation.

Although there are books that detail how to incorporate on your own, hiring a lawyer is always the best and safest option. Commercial law, tax laws, securities laws, limited liability, state and federal regulations, and a plethora of other business-related laws are all within a lawyer's purview of expertise. Additionally, laws are constantly being introduced, altered, and updated, so the laws that a layperson is aware with might not be the most up-to-date.

Companies going through the incorporation procedure are needed to have a registered agent. Legal actions, notices, and official government communications are all handled through them as the company's agent during the acceptance service process.

If you need a registered agent, incorporation services can supply one for you as well.

The process consists of three parts: registering your business name, submitting the required paperwork, and paying the associated expenses. These stages can be handled in one of three ways: by yourself, by an incorporation service provider, or by an attorney.
Make sure the name you want to use for your company is accessible in the state where you intend to incorporate before you actually do it. There can't be any confusing similarities between your company name and another name in use in that state. The state of incorporation is the proper place to conduct a name check.

Additionally, you need to gather and submit all the required paperwork. to file the Articles of Incorporation with the relevant state agency in the state where the business was formed.
Furthermore, you are obligated to pay any and all initial fees, including state filing fees and first franchise taxes. The process of forming a corporation in every given state requires payment of a filing fee. There is a wide range of state filing fees. Prices start at around $100 and go up to $400 or more.
Build It Yourself. Seek the Advice of an Attorney or an Incorporation Service. Knowing the ins and outs of the state's incorporation rules is essential if you intend to go it alone with the process. Everything from preparing and filing paperwork to communicating with relevant state entities will be your responsibility.
An incorporation service will take care of checking your name, preparing and filing the paperwork, and paying the initial state filing fees. All you have to do is provide them with the required information.
You can submit all the necessary information to incorporation service businesses online for a little service cost in addition to the state filing fees. You can also rely on attorneys to handle everything that's required of them. In addition to the state filing fees, you should budget for an attorney's hourly charge while incorporating.
The amount of time it takes for each state to review and return your finished Articles of Incorporation determines how long this process will take in total. The typical time to become incorporated is four to six weeks.
For a fee, you can speed up the filing procedure in most states. It usually takes about a week for expedited filings. Those fees are also state-specific.
Your newly created corporation is required by law to call an organizational meeting of its directors. The incorporation process is finalized, bylaws are adopted, and stock is issued during this meeting. A business record book should contain the minutes of the organizational meeting.
Although incorporating a firm is a significant step, the benefits aren't always apparent until the company is in the midst of a crisis, such a bankruptcy or legal battle. The limited liability that a corporation grants its owners (the shareholders) is a major perk of forming an LLC.
The stockholders of a corporation are often shielded from personal responsibility for its debts and commitments. No shareholder should expect to receive a monetary demand from creditors demanding payment of corporate debts. When a business is run as a sole proprietorship or partnership, the owner's private wealth might be utilized to settle business debts.
Among the many benefits areMembers are not essential to the survival of a corporation. The lifespan of a corporation is infinite. The corporation will carry on with operations even in the event that one owner passes away or decides to sell their stake.Having a retirement fund or qualified retirement plan "like 401k" established with a corporation might be easier. It is simple to change who owns what in a firm.Stock sales are a common and efficient way to raise capital. The management of a corporation is centralized.

There are several drawbacks to corporations. Double taxation is the main drawback for a corporation. When dividends are paid out to shareholders from a company's profits, those gains are taxed twice. The corporation is taxed on them first, and then the shareholder.
The double taxation can be minimized by claiming all reasonable business expenses, like salaries, as deductions from corporation revenue. Also, by electing to be treated as a S corporation with the IRS, you can avoid paying taxes twice.
Among the additional drawbacks areThe process of creating a corporation can be quite intricate and costly.Companies are required to keep a great deal of records. In order for a corporation to conduct business in another state, it must first be qualified to do so in that state.

Without the possible drawback of double taxation, both the "S" corporation and the Limited Liability Company "LLC" offer limited liability protection to the owners and shareholders of the business. Both of these legal structures have their benefits and drawbacks, so it's wise to educate yourself on all three before settling on a business structure.

It appears almost too wonderful to be true for company owners due to its business-friendly tax policies and liberal standards. When you think about forming a corporation in Florida, you can rest easy knowing that you and your company will be protected from onerousing legal requirements, and that you and your coworkers in the business world will have a blast in one of the most populous states in America.

Even while incorporating isn't the best option for every business, knowing the advantages will help you make the most of your company's growth potential.

Take Advantage of Potential Tax Breaks by Forming an LLC

Many businesses want to form corporations primarily for the tax advantages. By forming a corporation, you can take advantage of the preferential tax treatment that corporations enjoy as they amass money and assets. Compared to individual tax rates, these are somewhat lower. Additionally, small business owners who choose not to incorporate are required to pay ordinary income tax, as well as self-employment taxes (which include social security tax), either quarterly or all at once. You can set up a payroll system that is comparable to working for another person, with these taxes withheld little by little on a regular basis, when you operate as a corporation.

Many operational costs can be deducted by corporations without limitation. Corporations can often reduce their overall tax level by dividing their income with shareholders. This is known as "shifting." The Internal Revenue Service audits lone proprietors more often than corporations.

Corporate Perks for Workers

Medical, life, retirement, and education benefits, as well as business-related travel, client or employee entertainment, and tax-free advantages, are all possible when you form a corporation. These benefits are available in the majority of states even if your company has just one worker.

Advantages in Liability

One other big perk of forming a corporation is the issue of liability. A corporation can be sued just like any other individual because it is its own separate legal entity. Any debts or obligations of the corporation are not personally liable to the stockholders. A lawsuit brought against a sole proprietorship or partnership could result in the loss of all personal assets, including your home.

Businesses Persist

If you form a corporation, it will be possible for someone else to carry on the company when you retire or die. A corporation doesn't need just one or two people to run the show, which makes this feasible. It has its own identity in the eyes of the law and can be run by a board of directors and shareholders.

Gains in Capital

You open the door to financial growth for your business when you incorporate. With the support of shareholders, a corporation can more easily raise capital than a person could on their own. As a corporation, the company has a better chance of expanding and succeeding.

Setting Up an LLC

You may remain on the fence about incorporating despite carefully weighing all of the advantages. Another choice is to form a Limited-Liability Company (LLC). Like forming a corporation, forming an LLC establishes your business as a separate legal entity. Although you are not personally responsible for your business's obligations, you will need to comply with various tax regulations than a corporation. Take the time to compare and contrast the two options before you make a final choice. You should consider forming an LLC if you own a small business.

If you think it would be a good idea for your company to incorporate, there are a lot of helpful tools available online to make the process easier. If you want to incorporate online and have access to useful resources to get your business up and running quickly, there are many of options.

Their hearts were thumping violently. The stakes were high, and the warrior's performance on the football field would determine his fate. For David Bekham, this was a pivotal occasion. He is compelled to receive a direct free kick. Just yards away from the football field, a human barricade was constructed. In the D-area, there was a flurry of activity as both the enemy and the aid workers were dispersed. Then the whistle blew.

Bekham blocked the shot. With 46 on-field eyes and hundreds more staring at the spinning marvel, it soared into the air at an unusual angle, cutting it at a weird angle. The rest is history after the ball went on a whirling loop.
Some say the air was the magician, while others claim the ball was the magician. "Bend it like Bekham" is the term that this loop has been given by history. This is one of the most well-known loops.

Football has a lot to teach marketing and strategy departments. The cost of Bekham's expertise. Exceptional value! When consumers' expectations and emotions are at their lowest points, marketing as a whole delivers and performs. That is what separates the great performers from the average ones. No matter how stressful the issue gets, they remain calm and focused. Even their fiercest adversaries are caught off guard by what they do. When the iron was hot, the performers knew.
The idea that a larger sales force will always have an advantage over a smaller one is a lesson that marketers may take away from football: an A-team playing with 10 players vs 11 players will always be down by one.
Quality and quantity are inherently at odds with one another. Although marketing generals never base their strategy on personnel quality, according to marketing guru AL Rise. Erratic performance can ruin even the most well-laid plans, so it's definitely not a safe bet.
Regardless of the effectiveness of tactics, strategy should succeed. The same holds true for football matches; no matter the outcome, the team should win.
Al Ries claims that marketers rely too much on consumer expectations, feedback, and market conditions. Marketers should focus more on competition to remain ahead of the game because these limit their future visions and make them less daring. Here, I'll demonstrate. Following Michael Dell's lead, the wisest course of action is to accomplish the impossible. As a result of rival companies' efforts to catch up to Dell's obsession with supply chain speed, the IT company will likely take action to play catch-up. Next, we have Nokia vs. As Motorola began a campaign to improve its quality to 2–3 faults per million, an unknown funny firm entered the market, eventually displacing Motorola from its position as king. The significance of marking up is well-known to football coaches. Keeping the other team's spirits low is the first kick's job. Leaving aside a couple of instances, that is one of the most popular strategies among football coaches.
An extremely effective marketer knows just when to step away from the battlefield so that his rivals may drain him. When they do, the rivals will rush in, use their reserves, and leave him for dead. Oftentimes, this results in a negative reputation in the market. Subsequently, they enter to conclude the match. In order to counter an assault, competitors use all of their defensive resources. As soon as they perceive a dead end in front of them, great marketers let their competitors move ahead. It is clear that they do it. Maybe some people see their own timidity reflected in this. However, in the end, they comprehend their intentions.
Also, when the ball is still in the middle of the field and a defender perceives that his opponent's striker is ahead of him. He lets him off the hook and the whistles continue.
My dear friend, it's a negative aspect.

Author of Income Tax Deductions and the Book on Making Mortgage Payments More Rapidly.

Author of Income Tax Deductions and the Book on Making Mortgage Payments More Rapidly.

People tend to act in predictable ways because their habits tend to repeat themselves. Some people will reluctantly accept paying the enormous amount of taxes collected from their paychecks as shown on their W2 and T4 and T4A forms. Tax deductions of up to $49,000.00 have been presented to me. Indeed, the figures vary greatly according to your income or wage. If you earn $60,000 a year, most of these tax deductions will be between $7,000 and $14,000.
Income and salary taxes can be reduced through three primary methods. Here are several tax deductions: - 1. Savings for retirement or a pension: You can typically deduct these contributions from your taxable income. 2. You can deduct your home, automobile, and living expenditures from your self-employment budget if they are related to your business activities. 3. Carrying Charges or utilizing OPM: The key here is that companies can claim the cost of money as a business expense in various ways from the IRS and CRA.

Almost every taxpayer can take advantage of one of these tax deductions in some way. Many taxpayers unnecessarily send half to three quarters of their salary to the Internal Revenue Service and the Canada Revenue Agency through these tax tactics. As a taxpayer, you might not know how to apply these tax deductions to your own situation, which is why they aren't used more frequently. You might, for instance, claim carrying charges or arrange for that to be included in your taxes next year. This also applies to you, but you won't realize it unless you know. Countless financial experts and advisors routinely reap enormous financial rewards for their clients by implementing these tactics into their concerns. This ought to convince you that you might manage to spend a portion of those tax dollars on a skilled financial advisor who would yield a substantial return on investment.
The takeaway here is that the money your employers fork over to the federal government is not necessarily your salary. You can get those bucks back in due time. About half of the funds can be recouped by a competent financial planner. It is common to see a recovery rate of 75%. Consider that for a moment. Suppose your figures are exactly in the center. You may be eligible to receive $5,000 annually if your employer withholds more than $10,000 from your paycheck. Among the many possible uses for that sum of $5000 would be: -- Investing in a $5,000 annual vacation A $5,000.00 Contribution to a Retirement Fund Dedicating $5,000 to the Education of Your Children Maintaining a yearly extra mortgage payment contribution of $5,000.00.
Organizing your vacation is something you can handle on your own. When it comes time to save for retirement and further education, your private financial advisor is there to help. Your tax return will go a long way toward the expedited mortgage payment option. The advantages increase exponentially if you use the additional funds to pay down your mortgage. Homeowners of all ages, from retirees to young couples on a shoestring budget, need to wake up to the exponential benefits of making extra mortgage payments. Money for a quick mortgage payment is a common item in household budgets. We am really bewildered as to where they could be hiding. There aren't many resources out there that focus on helping you save a ton of money on your mortgage payments, other than Brian Costello's book: Making Money than Your Mortgage.
Paying off a mortgage sooner or making additional payments immediately pays back the interest rate. For instance, if the interest rate on your mortgage is 5%, you will receive a 5% return on your tax refund right away. The interest rate on a bank savings account is below 3.00%. Also, if you put the $5,000.00 tax refund check toward your mortgage each year, you may pay it off in two years, or perhaps five years less time. Here is where you can find some shocking, undiscovered savings. Because few people are familiar with the ins and outs of mortgage payments, the majority of people miss the mark when it comes to understanding this. Since getting mortgages is the main goal rather than paying them back, most professionals stay out of this industry. When you add up all the months and years that you wouldn't have to pay your mortgage if you paid it off quickly, that's your total tax refund savings. If your mortgage payment was $1,000 per month, you would save $60,000 over the course of five years if you were able to reduce your payments by that amount.
Each $1,000 in tax savings results in a $60,000 gain! You have agreed to pay a monthly mortgage payment in the amount of $60,000. Consider this compelling argument for why many professionals struggle to make ends meet while company owners and a select few knowledgeable employees live lavishly. Make a solemn vow to yourself this year to receive half of the surplus tax revenue. Make a real effort to follow through on this, rather than merely saying you will.

They follow their ambition of implementing a financial product idea that will produce considerable incremental revenue, hoping to feel the same joy that renowned inventors like Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Edison must have had. That wish, alas, seldom comes true.
We now know that the failure rate of financial goods and services is more than 80% after watching their launches for over twenty years. Despite this, nearly every respectable marketing director in the financial services industry is always on the lookout for the next great financial product idea.

The great majority of newly released financial goods and services were profitable just a few decades ago. The marketing landscape for financial services is extremely crowded and competitive nowadays, and almost every category of financial products and services is oversaturated. A new financial product typically needs to steal customers away from more well-known companies in order to succeed in the marketplace.
Economists use the term "monopolistic competition" to describe the current state of the financial product and service industries. This seemingly contradictory statement characterizes a market where no particular brand has a stranglehold, where pricing rivalry can be fierce, and where brand perception rather than performance is the primary differentiator among rivals.
When properly prepared, the product launch activities that accompany the introduction of a new financial product or service can have an impact on its success comparable to that of its design or pricing. Marketers with experience understand that:While internal events should inspire excitement and rally support for the next product launch, pre-launch events should pique attention and develop anticipation.Launching a product successfully requires generating buzz and interest.Launch-related actions should keep people interested and moving forward; they should also lay the groundwork for the company's long-term, cumulative marketing strategy.

The consequences of new financial products failing to meet expectations are significant. Based on our extensive analysis of failed launches of financial products and services, we have identified the following critical factors as the most important determinants of the success or failure of such launches:The pursuit of novel, improved ideas that hold the potential of success is an eternal human desire. Thus, it is crucial to acknowledge that buyers purchase expectations rather than actual goods and services when crafting positioning and messaging for new product launches.Keep in mind that a product's name is crucial. A well-known and respected brand name can attract more customers and boost sales. An advantage-oriented moniker receives more use and opens doors to more cost-effective branding options. The majority of product launch expenses are not budgeted for. To ensure a successful launch, allocate sufficient funds and then some. You can learn a lot from other people's blunders when launching their products. Learning to foresee difficulties and grasp precedence is key. Being ignorant in this domain is never going to make you happy.Differentiate yourself in a meaningful way in the marketplace. Products and services that are similar to your competitors' may be novel for your business, but they may seem like "more of the same" to your target customers. Without an edge over the competition, you'll need a huge money to make people excited and buy your way to success.Without proper distribution and sales support, even the most excellent financial products or services would not succeed. Prior to launching, flex your distribution muscles and make sure your distributors are well-informed on the product's advantages and highly driven to sell it.Regardless of the branding, the sponsoring company's image and reputation will always be associated with financial products and services. That the new product's marketing materials and its accompanying claims are coherent with the sponsor's brand identity is, then, of paramount importance.Recognize that honesty leads to achievement. Develop an enticing offer of value and strive to go above and beyond for your customers.

Testing the market is the next crucial stage after developing a financial product or service. But we think it's a waste of time and money to use the same focus groups that marketers of consumer goods use for selling financial services. Alternatively, a more detailed and personal understanding of the market's demands and requirements can be gained through targeted one-on-one interviews with distribution channel representatives and prospects in the target market.
The high percentage of unsuccessful financial products and services usually stems from the same problems: not meeting customer expectations; not effectively establishing and motivating distribution channels; not creating messaging that resonates with target markets; not effectively identifying and appealing to marketplace needs and wants; and lastly, not providing relevant differentiation from more established brands. Despite how common these mistakes are, marketers in the financial services industry continue to make them. "We have seen the enemy and he is us," Pogo correctly stated.

I just don't get why certain individuals are so opposed to this approach. The versatility and affordability of term insurance make it a desirable alternative to full life coverage in many contexts. Everyone can afford it. Term and whole life insurance are functionally equivalent; nevertheless, whole life insurance offers a number of advantages that term life does not. We will examine the advantages of full life insurance policies.
Basic Insurance

Unlike term life insurance, the premium for whole life insurance remains constant during the policy's duration. In a whole life insurance policy, part of the premium goes toward the death benefit and part goes toward building cash value. A portion of the premium is also used for administrative costs in the first few years.
Benefit for Demise
A guaranteed death benefit, payable in a lump amount or as a stream of income each month, is a standard feature of all life insurance policies. It is common practice to not impose federal income taxes on this death benefit. There are a variety of income plans available, such as a defined sum, a specific period, or a life income. In addition to paying interest, insurance can retain the principal. Payment is due immediately upon request.
Valuation in Cash
A whole life insurance policy's cash value grows tax-deferred and is guaranteed. Borrowing against your cash worth is an option in case you ever find yourself short on funds. You can repay the money whenever it's convenient for you, and the insurance company doesn't even need to know why you want it.
Profit Sharing
Dividends paid out in cash are proportional to the profitability of the underlying business. These dividends might not materialize. You can pay them in, let them grow interest, use them to lower premiums, or buy paid-up additions with them. A whole life insurance policy with paid-up additions is considered fully paid-up. These paid-in additions not only provide dividends, but they also have monetary worth.
Your whole life insurance policy can be customized with a variety of riders. The accidental death benefit rider, sometimes called the double indemnity rider, and the premium waiver rider are the two primary riders.
Premium Exclusion.
In the event of the insured's disability, the life insurance company will assume payment of premiums at any point after six months of incapacity, regardless of how long the disability continues.
Benefit for Incidental Death
The life insurance company will pay out double the death benefit in the event that the insured person dies in an accident, such as a car crash. With an accidental death benefit rider attached to a $100,000 policy, the insurer will pay out $200,000 to the named beneficiary.
If you're considering purchasing a whole life insurance policy, the additional cost might be justified by the advantages listed above.

Leadership: The Eight Paths to Virtue

Leadership: The Eight Paths to Virtue

who wrote it: Brent Filson
http://www.articlecity.com/articles/business_and_finance/article 6662.shtml is the web address of the supplied source.
This article is in the "business and finance" category and was saved on 2007-07-25 at 12:30:08.

The Greeks had a proverb that read: "When Aschines speaks, the people say, 'How well he speaks,' but when Demosthenes speaks, the people say, 'Let's march against Philip!'" .
If you want to be an effective leader, your followers should be responding to your calls to action with cries of "Let's march!"

What matters most when you speak to people as a leader is not what you say but rather what they do after you have spoken. Also, you're not doing a good job of leading, earning your followers' trust, and fulfilling their desire to act on your behalf if you can't get them to do the right thing.
To get people moving in the correct direction at the right time for the right reason, here are eight correct actions to take.
Prompt action is required.
I am physically fit. The audience's thoughts and feelings have no bearing on the action. What the audience does in reality is this. The audience typically uses their feet, hands, and tools to participate. To keep on track with the kind of physical activity you want your audience to do, see them actually executing it. A direct challenge to your audience to execute a single action is the surest way to get them to do the right thing. Shockingly, the Cold War took a dramatic turn when Ronald Reagan proclaimed, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" in his speech delivered at the Berlin Wall. Even though you may not be facing as monumental a task as winning a war in your day-to-day leadership responsibilities, you may still apply the idea to significantly enhance your leadership effectiveness.
2. INTENDED. An organization cannot benefit from individuals who take action. Only individuals who actually do something to improve things are really helpful. Verify that their activity is not in vain. Staying committed to your goals is the key to achieving success. Your audience should be well-informed about the steps they are taking and the reasons behind them when they do take action. There are three facets to purpose in leadership discourse: logic, emotion, and self-awareness. People should be completely aware that they are acting, have an emotional investment in the action, and know the rationale behind it.
Thirdly, TRUE. Using deception or trickery to coerce others into doing anything will erode their trust, the bedrock of all motivation. After that, you can give them orders, but they won't be motivated to execute the work. When crafting your call to action, be truthful with yourself. The Roman Emperor remarked, "Never esteem anything as an advantage to you that will make you break your word or lose your self-respect." Tell them the truth when you ask them to do something. Not only do I think it's a good idea, but there are also very practical reasons why you should consider this. Indeed, as leaders, we can never truly gauge our effectiveness unless we push our followers to surpass their own expectations. They will not accept our challenge if they believe we are trying to trick them or if they believe you are trying to trick yourself.
(3) SIGNIFICANT. When you put your audience's emotions into action, they gain significance. Just feeling good about it won't cut it. The key to success is taking action. The relationship between emotion and action is symbiotic.
Those in positions of leadership should either find something else to do with their lives or find more fulfillment in the achievements they achieve. It is something that the majority of leaders are cognizant of. The work that their subordinates do, how they feel about it, and the outcomes that are expected are all aspects of meaning that very few leaders take into account.
The individuals who will be responsible for implementing your cause should care about it. What they do won't matter much if it's just your cause and not theirs. When the steps they take to address the issues of your cause also help them with their own needs, then your cause will truly mean something to them. Determine their requirements and the steps to resolve the issue before you issue a challenge to them.
(5) FOCUSSED ON NEED. What really matters to the people are their needs. It goes without saying that you, as an order leader, are exempt from knowing what they require. The mentality of "my way or the highway" is all you're displaying. Realizing this is essential if you wish to inspire them to act. Reason being, their incentive is something they've chosen, not you. Your job is to convey information, and theirs is to inspire others—and themselves. They get to decide. Take it or leave it. Accordingly, their requirements are not just a reality for them, but the sole reality in terms of the leadership equation. Your needs are of no concern to them. Your reality is irrelevant to them. All that matters to them is their own world. The behavior you desire from them should be based on what is best for THEM, not you. So, it goes without saying that you need to figure out what they require.
Sixth, pay close attention: patience is both a virtue and a tender trap. Time is a powerful outcome multiplier. The two words that sum up a Roman centurion's advice for making the soldiers feel the need to act quickly was, "hit them." Not in a literal but more significant psychological sense, his credo is still with us today in the order leader. However, getting individuals to feel a sense of urgency by trying to "hit them" is much less effective than inspiring them within. Here's a method to motivate individuals to act quickly: LISTEN TO WHAT THEY NEED, DETECTE ANY ISSUES WITHIN THE NEED, AND THEN HAVE THE ACTION THEY TAKEN PROVIDE SOLUTIONS.
For example, a teacher at a police academy once entered a classroom and yelled out, "CLEAR OUT THIS ROOM IMMEDIATELY." A group of cadets were expelled by the first cadet. However, the majority of cadets remained. A second cadet begged his fellow students to disperse as the teacher passed the note to him. Still, the majority remained. The teacher then passed the note on to a third cadet. This cadet had a natural knack for seeing problems and motivating others to do something about them. With those two sentences, he silenced everyone in the room. "Lunch break!"
As long as their needs are met, people will always be eager to take passionate action. Being able to recognize those requirements is the key. Doing so will put you halfway to achieving your goal of having them do that.
(7) MATCHED DATE: There must be a due date for anything you ask your employees to do. Otherwise, they may stop seeing it as a top priority and won't feel any extra pressure to take it. Asking, "Have I a set a deadline to this action?" will help you keep track of how you're driving others to take action. Really, you should.
(8) FED BACK: What drives people isn't what you see them do. What people do once you've lost sight of them is the true measure of their motivation. The "head fake" is a common tactic used by those under a leader's influence, in which the follower appears to agree with the leader on the surface but secretly feels differently. When you're not around, kids act independently of you. To ensure that both you and the person you're challenging are aware of what they're doing, it's a good idea to have some kind of feedback system in place.
To be a leader is to get results, and the only way to obtain results is for people to take action.
Problematically, most leaders only achieve a subset of the possible outcomes because they erroneously define action and, as a result, misuse it.
Remember the eight ways of correct action when you communicate to individuals so they can take the right steps to reach their goals.
Everyone has heard this lament, but how often actually do we let it guide our actions? Do we really want to make the most of today's more loosened regulations? Every story I come across today appears to be about how the current workforce views their supervisors and bosses as archaic due to their attire, policies, and business practices.
The initial impression is the most important one, in my opinion, and I intend for this to remain my belief. Whether we're talking on the phone or meeting in person, I always want to make a good impression. On the other hand, I come from the traditional school—the one that modern employees gripe about.

The ones that have survived to this day can be seen here. Companies who stuck to the basics of business 101 are still around after all the hype died down. All those giant tech companies like Intel, IBM, Burger King, AT&T, Sears, Microsoft, Dell, Gateway, and so on.
I am not saying that we should return to the Stone Age. Whether it's a brick-and-mortar store or an online venture, I think it's essential for a company's longevity to adapt to changing market conditions. However, the principles upon which our firm was founded—respect for others, honesty, and the importance of doing what's right by customers—remain essential.
The "pyjama mentality" has permeated the operations of far too many home-based businesses. There have been companies I've contacted that had adorable greetings on their machines, but also extremely annoying music, children answering the phone, and yelling TVs and radios set in the background. I am not impressed and would not do business with them again.
That doesn't mean I haven't had concerns about businesses with remote workers. Actually, this post was prompted by a call to one. The owner of the company I contacted was completely unaware of the ins and outs of a specific process when I contacted her by phone. Wow, she's the boss and has no idea what the heck she's doing or how much it costs. Try to guess with whom I chose not to do business. In other words, don't act like you don't know what you're talking about; if you don't know the fundamentals, at least let me know that you have someone on staff who is an expert in the field who can assist me out. My opinion of you and your business has been negatively impacted by this.
I am not smearing home-based businesses in any way; I've encountered corporate offices that are more like fun homes than actually running a business.
The point of this piece is to drive home the point that first impressions are crucial, whether you work from home or not.
Always maintain an air of professionalism when answering the phone. If you work from home and have a meeting outside, dress appropriately for the occasion. Make sure you and your home are both neat and tidy if you entertain clients at your place. A client meeting is not the place to wear shorts and a t-shirt just because you perform most of your work from home. Get a professional printer to make your company's logo, letterhead, and brochure, and make sure all of your office correspondence is proofread and spell checked before sending it out.
Your initial impression, whether made in person, over the phone, or in writing, will stick with the other person. If you serve your customers well, the traditional way, and make a positive impression, they will be loyal customers forever.
When it comes to dining out, that's the only time I've ever been proven wrong. Guess you can't judge a book by its cover—just the majority of them—because some of those little holes in the wall ended up having the best service and food.
For the first month of a new year, this is an ideal subject.

"If I can just stay a little later today, I can catch up on this work I haven't been able to get to," was the innocent beginning of staying late. After eight hours, it was nine. Regularity ensued. After that, she thinks, "If I just bring this reading home, I can 'catch up' after the kids go to bed." Ten minutes passed after nine. The 60-hour workweek became the standard because you did this so frequently. Of course, you'll need to put in more time if you're launching a new company or working on a critical, short-term project. But if you keep working those hours year after year, it will become second nature. You no longer remember what it's like to be free on any given night or weekend.

At what point does a healthy work-life balance become too much? Who does the drawing, the worker? Is it society's responsibility or our companies' to do that?
Finding a clear demarcation between individual and corporate accountability is challenging. I believe they both have it. You are alone responsible for your life in the end. Strike a balance for yourself by drawing the line and insisting on leaving work on time. The alternative is to spend your life aimlessly chasing after the clock.

According to my research, the secret to success is finding a good work-life balance and not putting in excessive hours. In order to leave work on time and draw the line, consider the following strategies:

• Discontinue following the cultural norms. Make it a point to leave the house promptly. The decision to keep you working until 7:00 PM was made by whom? Do you get paid for 40 or 60 hours? If you're a salaried employee, you're required to do whatever it takes to get the job done. How much is the time worth to you?

All meetings must begin prior to 4:00 PM. Make sure that meetings end no later than 4:30 if you are in a position of authority over them. Hold meetings as soon as possible following lunch. Make sure no one can book with you starting at 4:00 every day by blocking out your calendar. Make a positive impact by acting as an example for others to follow. No one should be asked to start a project at 4:45 PM if they are your assistant or if they report to you. Also, honor their right to exist.

• Take a stand. "I consistently leave work at 5:00." Don't be bashful about saying it. My obligation is at 5:30, and I must keep it. The fact that your dedication is to yourself and your loved ones is irrelevant to them. After their aspirations are out in the open, people are more likely to rally around them.

• Establish regular business hours. Appointments should be accepted within specific hours on certain days of the week, even if you have an assistance. Maybe you're available for appointments from 9:00 to 10:30 and 2:00 to 3:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. That way, when you're attempting to leave the office, no disruptions will happen at the same time.

• Finalize your departure plans. To let people know that you're closing shop, gather up your coat and place it somewhere noticeable. To make it seem like you're already gone or preoccupied a few minutes before you're supposed to leave, close your door.
They have until tomorrow to do anything they want.

You should question your presumptions. Extra work isn't just "the way it is." Take control of your day again if you want to experience less time pressure...instead of putting in more hours, try to get everything done throughout the workday. Avoid worrying about "catching up." Eventually, you'll fall behind. Time is a finite resource, and there will always be more to accomplish. The human capacity to find something to do with any spare moment is remarkable. A 45-minute meeting will be just as productive as a 90-minute one. Slacking off a bit becomes second nature when working late becomes a habit. You can get just as much done as before, if not more, if you can maximize your productivity throughout the day.

It's best to take baby steps. Before you leave on vacation, take stock of how productive you usually are. Your innermost desires are in complete harmony with your wish to depart! Things that aren't crucial vanish into thin air, allowing you to concentrate on what really matters. The same holds true for designating a specific day—maybe Thursdays—as "the" day when you promptly exit your workplace. In order to back up this decision, you'll start working more attentively and more productively on Thursdays. You still manage to get just as much done on Thursday as you would on any other day of the week. A system of self-reinforcement kicks in after you experience Thursday nights alone; after all, you get to enjoy the benefits you brought about. Continue with an additional day, such as Monday, and repeat the process. If you want to get back to your 40-hour workweek and even better outcomes, you need to keep improving your productivity abilities and adding days to your schedule.

The issue is not a lack of time, so bear that in mind. All of your habits contribute to your low productivity levels. Avoid the pitfall of mindlessly devoting more attention to issues.

Stay focused: Work isn't everything! Instead of living to work, you're working to live.
Sure, you'd like to get things done. On top of enjoying and excelling at your job, you want to advance in your career. Having a meaningful existence is essential, though. Inspire people to strike a balance in their lives and discover what makes getting out of the workplace earlier worthwhile by doing the same.

Get things done today!
