378.
How to Dispose of Cell Phone Batteries

  379.
Over time cell phones have been primarily powered by different kinds of rechargeable batteries NiMH or nickel metal hydride batteries, NiCad or nickel cadmium batteries, more recently lithium ion batteries and most recently LiPos or lithium polymer batteries. NiMH, NiCAD, lithium ion and lithium polymer batteries are all rechargable, meaning that after they are depleted they can can be recharged and will again store power. The efficacy of which they recharge and store power has determined their longevity in consumer electronics.
380.
381. The age of the cell phone dictates the type of cell phone battery it likely used. Very old cell phones often used NiCad batteries or NiMH batteries while newer smart phones all use lithium ion batteries.
388.
What is Data on a Cell Phone?

  389.
What is Data Usage?
390. Most cell phone plans available today have a monthly data usage limit, meaning they charge and track any mobile data used over a cellular connection. Exceeding a cell phone plan's data limit can become quite costly. If you exceed your allotted data there will be extra fees and they are often charged at a premium.
391.
392. What is Considered Data?
393. When referring to data usage in a cell phone plan, it refers to any data exchanged using the cellular networks. In a nut shell, mobile data allows your cell phone to access the Internet without a wi-fi connection. Everything done over a cellular network uses mobile data, for example sending an email, text or doing an Internet search all use mobile data.
400.
When Was the First Text Message Sent?

  401.
In December of 1992, Neil Papworth a young contract developer working for Vodafone sent the very first SMS message in the UK . The message was a simple one, "Merry Christmas" and it was sent to Richard Jarvis, a director at Vodafone. Richard Jarvis received the message on a Husky Orbitel 901 cell phone. The phone at that time weighed 4.5 lbs. The message was not sent from another cell phone, but from a computer.
402.
403. It is probably difficult for the current generation to imagine a world without texting. However, like many new technologies initial adoption for text messaging was slow. This was due in part to technology limitations. Initially SMS messages had to be kept very short, only 160 characters could be sent in each message. Additionally, messages could not be sent across networks (to other providers), there were also hardware limitations to cell phones.
411.
Known by the moniker cellular phone, mobile phone, car phone, cellphone, portable telephone, mobile device, smartphones, smart phones, or cellular device, a cell phone is simply a portable device that can make and recieve phone call over a radio frequency while the consumer is in the telephone service area.
412.
413. Most milennials have difficulty recalling a time when cell phones were not common place. It is safe to say, in the modern western world almost all adults, teenagers and many adolescent children have personal cell phones.
421.
Cell phones cannot just be thrown away, they contain a number of harmful materials. Cell phones or other portable electronics are considered e-waste, and need to be properly disposed of, they do not belong in a landfill. If disposed of in a landfill the toxins are released into the air, ground and water supply, doing damage to the ecosystem and environment.
422.
423. Fortunately there are a variety of ways you can dispose of a cell phone they include:
431.
Ghosting is the act of suddenly without any warning ending all communication with a person you have a relationship with. Ghosting is done without any explanation for the lack of communication. Ghosting includes not responding to any text messages, social media posts, phone calls or any other form of communication. Whether the term ghosting comes from the metaphorical term ghost, where the ghoster is saying you are dead to me or whether it is from the idiom get ghost meaning to leave immediately or disappear, is unclear, the result is the same, no communication and no explanation.
446.
How Long Do Cell Phone Batteries Last?

  447.
The length of time that a cell phone battery lasts depends on a variety of things. Battery life can be influenced by the type of the cell phone, the type battery, the age of the battery, the applications being used on the phone, even the temperature where the phone is stored and used can impact battery life.
448.
457.
There are a number of reasons you should place your cell phone in airplane mode while in flight.
458.
459. A cell phone that is in flight and is not placed in airplane mode, will attempt to connect to cellular towers. As the airplane is in transit and flies by cell towers it will constantly attempt to connect to the closest one, but the plane's altitude and speed will do little more than drain your battery.
472.
PageGate Version 8 Enhanced SMS and Text Messaging Gateway

  473.

  474. NotePages proven robust text messaging software continues to mobilize businesses and improve communications
475.
476. NotePage, Inc is pleased to announce the release of a PageGate version 8. PageGate is a complete text messaging and SMS solution that incorporates a wide variety of messaging protocols for sending messages to cell phones, mobile devices, wireless devices, fax machines, email, and pagers.
477.
478. PageGate allows alerts to be sent instantly to any mobile device, in any location, at any time. PageGate is modular and scaleable. It can be incredibly powerful serving the needs of a multi-location business or agency or a simple setup can handle the day to day messaging communications of a small office.
479.
480. In today's "instantaneous" world, companies, schools and government agencies are challenged to manage and respond efficiently, and quickly to a variety of notifications, alerts, and alarms. PageGate focuses on improving and streamlining critical communications regardless of the business size and needs. The new version of PageGate has a number of new enhancements, which expand functionality and capabilities making PageGate a very powerful, efficient and yet affordable text messaging solution.
481.
482. One of the most compelling new features in PageGate version 8 is a new Filter Pack option. The PageGate Filter Pack is used in conjunction with the Command Line ASCII Interface, enabling PageGate to pass all messages through a customizable filter. With the Filter Pack clients can modify and conditionally modify any part of the messaging data. The Filter Pack can reassign who a message is delivered to based on words or phrases. It can modify the body of the message. It can modify the subject line. It can insert pre-determined text and as well as a variety of other changes. With PageGate's new filter pack, you can even poll information from web resources that provides XML content or a web APIs that can be polled for information. For example, PageGate can be configured to periodically poll the National Weather Service for weather in a specific area, the weather can then automatically be sent out as a text message to recipients or groups.
483.
484. The Filter Pack also support logic operations, allowing for variable output conditional on the content of the original message. In addition, the Filter Pack supports a powerful RegEx (regular expression) engine, opening the possibility of data extraction from just about any data file format.
485.
486. PageGate now also supports communicating with wireless hardware (i.e. modems, phones, routers, etc.) that support the AT Command Set as defined in the GSM specification. This includes the vast majority of cellular/mobile/wireless modems available today. An advantage to using this protocol is that only the recipient's cell phone number is required to send a text message. Using a wireless modem, wireless router, or other similar hardware can be the most reliable and efficient method to deliver SMS text messages. Wireless hardware removes an organization's reliance on an active Internet connection, or other wired connection when sending messages.
487. PageGate also supports a new NotePage Android SMS Gateway Application, the Android SMS Gateway Application allows for an android cell phone to simulate a wireless modem.
488.
489. Another enhancement to PageGate version 8 includes protocol support for sending messages via XMPP / Jabber. Messages can now be sent using XMPP a common instant messaging protocol.
490.
491. PageGate version 8 also has a new optional Serial2ASCII Interface that is a companion module for the Serial Port Interface. The Serial2ASCII Interface unlocks the ability to monitor additional physical or virtual serial (RS232) ports. Multiple Serial2ASCII modules can be run on the same computer as PageGate, enabling PageGate to simultaneously accept messages from multiple serial ports.
492.
493. PageGate version 8 has also been updated to support the newest operating systems including Windows Server 2016.
494.
495. Mass notification is frequently used by communities, college campuses, school districts, medical facilities, industrial facilities, commercial institutions, law enforcement agencies and military bases. PageGate's robust throughput and scalability allows for these type facilities and agencies to scale their implementation to meet their community needs.
496.
497. Pricing and Availability:
498. PageGate version 8 and its interfaces, and add-ons are available immediately. The cost of the PageGate is based upon the number of recipients that messages will be sent to. Prices for PageGate start at $200.00. Each of the interface modules and add-ons may be purchased separately.
499. PageGate requires Windows XP or newer (supports up to Server 2016), 1 Gb or better processor, 1 Gigabyte of available RAM and 100 Mb of free hard drive space, and an analog modem for dialup connections, serial cable for direct connections, mobile phone or wireless modem that supports the GSM AT command set for wireless connections, or a dedicated (always on) internet connection.
515.
In 2010, the LG Mobile World Cup took place to determine the fastest texting pair in the world. Though not the first large scale competition over texting speed, the Mobile World Cup was the first international one of its kind. LG Electronics equipped one member of each pair with a phone with a QWERTY keyboard, while the other was given a phone with a numeric keypad. Competing in New York City for a total of $130,000 in prize money, thirteen pairs, each representing a different nation, faced off. 16-year-old Ha Mok-min and 17-year-old Bae Yeong-ho from South Korea texted the fastest, with the United States and Argentina coming in second and third, respectively.
524.
It is hardly news that teenagers aren't getting enough sleep--90% of teens get fewer than the eight to ten hours of sleep per night recommended for healthy development and function. A growing public health concern, sleep deprivation is particularly dangerous for youths, who rely on sleep for healthy mental and physical development. With teen sleep loss growing in public attention, and technology in a sense dominating the lives of young people, we must wonder if and how our devices play into this phenomenon.
533.
Over one million U.S. residents are deaf or functionally deaf, and approximately 15% of the U.S. population above the age of 18 reports having some difficulty hearing. While many options are available to the deaf and hard of hearing to aid communication, more current and non-invasive techniques are always in demand. Though many with unimpaired hearing take it for granted, text messaging has been one such technology, steadily changing life for many members of the deaf community as it has grown in popularity and reach.
542.
Text messaging has been put to task in countless health outreach programs, cutting rates of smoking, bolstering medication compliance, and so much more in numerous studies. When it comes to mental health, though, SMS may have a more complicated relationship with our wellness. 551.
Getting a drug on the market is no easy feat; an enormous amount of research, development, and trials are only quantitative markers of the process a new medication must undergo before gaining the clear for distribution by healthcare professionals. One would hope that, at the least, a research team that has advanced a drug to clinical trials wouldn't have to fret over putting together the trial, but a common difficulty in gathering participants for clinical trials has made this far from the reality for many medical researchers. However, texting may offer a solution.
568.
How Texting Can Keep You Safe in Severe Weather

  569.
Most of us can recall a time when we wished we had planned a little better during a big storm. After all, bad weather is an unavoidable fact of life, and all we can do when severe weather is expected is plan accordingly to stay warm, dry, and safe. Believe it or not, text messaging can help you do that: SMS weather alerts are perhaps the most powerful and effective tool to stay in the know, and therefore to plan right, for severe weather.
570.
571. Text message weather warnings take advantage of the immediacy of SMS. During an inclement weather situation, it is best to be in the know as soon as possible. Rather than finding out via friends and family or news articles, getting information from text alerts ensures that updates are immediate. And text messages are more likely to be seen, and seen immediately, than other media like broadcasts and emails.
579.
How Your Phone Can Make Driving Safer

  580.
As much as we love our phones, their widespread use has a number of negative consequences, and the fact that almost one in four car collisions involve cell phones is a particularly grave one. However, many innovators have responded to this danger, developing technologies that aim to reduce the role of cell phones in distracted driving. These devices and applications serve to build understanding of the perils of distracted driving as well as to fight drivers urges to use their phones on the road.
581.
582. One way app developers have addressed the issue of cell phones and road safety is through education. Some applications focus specifically on the issue of distracted driving, teaching users of the potential consequences and dangers of averting their eyes from the road.
While the home security industry is hardly an exception, it is doing even more interesting things with texting; some security companies are incorporating text messaging into the very services they offer, and to much benefit.
592.
593. Texting, believe it or not, presents a reliable solution for theft prevention for homeowners and other property holders. Security cameras are hardly new technology, but they can now be connected to text messaging in a way that allows property owners to relinquish worries about their propertys security, trusting that their phones will alert them of any danger.
601.
How Has Text Messaging Changed Real Estate

  602.
The further we implement text messaging in our lives, the further its impact reaches. We live in a time in which many of the industries and services we rely on are embracing, and therefore being changed by, SMS technology. A notable example is realty, where text messaging is streamlining business, improving customer satisfaction, and boosting sellers' efficacy.
603.
604. Text messaging is in large part so impactful in realty because it is an ideal line of contact between buyers and sellers. Buyers increasingly feel comfortable with SMS, if not prefer it, as a mode of contact. Additionally, text messaging offers intrinsic benefits.
613.
Mobile technology is not new to health developments--cell phones have been put to task in an impressive range of technologies to improve public health. An important and relevant instance of this approach is the use of texting to address disease epidemics. This happens in a great variety of ways, including using SMS and related mobile technology to track diseases, and to encourage patients and doctors to take protective measures against rapidly spreading diseases.
621.
How Media Companies are Using Text Messaging

  622.
Text messaging marketing grows ever more prevalent across industries in this day and age. A powerful example of this is media companies, which use text message marketing to entice consumers, offer them a more convenient experience, and increase their efficacy among the abundant younger crowd of media consumers.
623.
624. The media industry has a distinct position in the realm of marketing in that media is highly relevant to all age groups. While different groups consume different media, consuming media at all is hardly avoidable in today's world. Smaller media companies may have more specific audiences, but a great proportion of media companies, small or large, can compete for attention across generations.
633.
Many modern professionals know that text messaging is a boon to workplace communication. The power texting also holds to boost marketing and contact with customers is also great, and should not be overlooked. This holds particularly true for insurance companies, many of which use texting in a range of ways to enhance their close contact with policyholders.
634.
635. Text messaging is more and more used as a more convenient and efficient way to keep in touch with clients. Instead of sending automated emails or wasting time and labor on phone call reminders, companies can simply schedule automated texts reminding clients of any personal meetings or other appointments.
643.
How Texting Is Helping the Fight Against Prostate Cancer

  644.
Text messaging is rapidly shaping up to offer a solution for just about everything, and it seems every time we look, there is a new, specific application of texting to improve our lives. One exciting use of SMS to develop in recent years promises to help those diagnosed with or at risk of prostate cancer.
645.
646. While specific, this cause is a relevant and important one; around one in six American males are diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their lifetimes, and prostate cancer is responsible for the second highest number of cancer-related deaths in American males, behind lung cancer. While a large proportion of those diagnosed with prostate cancer survive, a diagnosis certainly requires a great deal of physical care and emotional support.
663.
Why You Could Never Forget an Appointment Again, Thanks to Texting

  664.
Many of us have tried leaving ourselves notes or setting alarms as reminders of appointments and meetings, with varying degrees of efficacy, but what about reminder texts? Scheduling text messages that remind you at opportune times of commitments could be an easy and effective way to help us avoid forgetting them. Reminder texts can also be a great alternative to the reminder mailings or phone calls many practices use to confirm appointments.
665.
666. With the popularity and widespread use that text messaging enjoys, one reason that reminder texts may be a smart solution is simply that we're more or less guaranteed not to miss them.
But more and more, online access isn't cutting it; web pages are often less accessible on the go, or less user-friendly on smart phones. Many banks have made these services more accessible by developing banking apps, but what about when Internet or data access falter? Text banking offers a quick, easy, and readily available solution.
732.
Tracking Animals with SMS

  733.
Oftentimes, we think of the conservation of the old as incongruous with the use of newer technology like mobile devices. This is far from the case; in fact, GPS technology is being combined with text messaging to track both wildlife and livestock, a useful tool to keep an eye on both the farm animals we depend on and the increasing number of endangered or threatened species.
734.
735. One device conservationalists are using to keep tabs on wildlife is cellular GPS collars. Cellular collars are affixed to animals, which then use GPS to calculate the animal's coordinates. This information is relayed to researchers via SMS. The frequency of text message updates can be controlled by the researchers
For this reason, companies across industries are incorporating SMS into their customer service as texting rises as a preferred mode of communication, even across age groups. This holds very true in utilities, where communication with customers is essential. Texting can provide utilities with a boost in quality of service and customer satisfaction by pushing it a step further into the 21st century.
778.
779. Utilities companies need to keep in contact with customers about important information such as billing, and events like deadlines or interruptions in service such as power outages or severe weather. Additionally, customers need a fast and reliable line of contact with utilities providers in the event of a service failure. Texting offers just that.
788.
Texting has become a major mode of communication and coordination for many workplaces, allowing colleagues to exchange information rapidly and effectively. While SMS is of great aid to office environments, firms with more widely distributed work sites could benefit even more from the extensive and efficient communication network that texting affords. Construction firms are no exception, where text messaging is put to task as an effective way of keeping employees up to date and safe.
797.
As much as we love our phones, their widespread use has a number of negative consequences, and the fact that almost one in four car collisions involve cell phones is a particularly grave one. However, many innovators have responded to this danger, developing technologies that aim to reduce the role of cell phones in distracted driving.
806.
It is clear that text messaging is a powerful and effective way to bolster workplace communication, and therefore workplace function, across fields. Perhaps less obvious is the potential marketing power texting holds for fields like realty. Realty marketing can be costly, making it ideal to cut marketing costs and increase return on investment. Text messaging, when used right, can do just that.

  815.
It is the 21st century, and many of us tend to keep pretty busy. With the stresses of all we do and the constant need to be doing something else, it is understandable--yet inconvenient--when commitments sometimes slip our minds; after all, we are only human. Yet we would surely rather avoid the stress and hassle of a missed appointment. With the popularity of SMS, this may be quite easily done.
824.
Everyone forgets commitments from time to time, and doctors appointments are far from an exception. But missing appointments with your health care provider can be both a drain on medical resources and a danger to your health. This holds all too true in the case of regular breast cancer screenings, which are recommended for women over the age of 50, or even younger women depending on which health care authority you ask, in order to detect early signs of cancer.
847. NotePage, Inc. is pleased to announce our PageGate software can now utilize a new carrier lookup service called Data24-7. Data24-7 is a carrier lookup service, which means you don't have to know the carrier of the cell phone numbers you would like PageGate to send messages to. 851. Texting and schooling: they do not quite seem to work together. But, schools are showing us more each day, they do. We often tend to think of texting as a plague to education, and maybe it has been, distracting leagues of students studying at home and even students who find their focus wavering in the classroom. But schools are turning the tables, embracing the medium in a number of ways to improve the students' experience at school. Could texting become a boon, not a bane, to education?
854. Can Text Messaging Help Protect Your Kids from the Flu
855. The researchers focused on developing educational text messages, and divided participants in their study into three groups: one that received conventional written reminders of appointments for the vaccine, one that received reminders in the form of text messages, and one that received educational texts that detailed the importance of receiving both doses between the ages of six months and eight years. The results speak clearly: of the group that received the educational texts, a large proportion of 72.7% of the children whose families received the texts received their second vaccine.
884.
What do texting and agriculture have to do with each other? It might sound like the lead-up to a bad joke, but the answer may just be, a whole lot! Increasingly, the power texting holds to advance farming is being recognized, and scientists and developers are crafting SMS technology that can improve productivity and business on both local and larger farms.
885.
886. A surprisingly simple application of SMS represents a great boon to smaller, local farmers. To aid in sales, some farmers are using texting how it was intended in the plainest sense-- no-frills, to-the-minute communication.
996.
We have all heard horror stories about the traveler who comes home to a $6,000 phone bill after using their device abroad. While using your phone outside of the country is likely to cost you a little more than usual, you should not be afraid of taking your phone with you on your travels. Before shooting that MMS with the view from your hotel room, though, you should do a little research to make sure you are not in over your head.
1005.
Though Western panic about the 2014 Ebola outbreak has largely calmed down, the epidemic remains a deadly reality in Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea. With cases on the rise on the West African coast and fear of the disease's spreading East to Cote d'Ivoire growing, efforts to quell the epidemic in this region are of critical importance. One surprising, and surprisingly effective, agent of these efforts is, yes, texting.
1014.
We do not too often think of technological development in the realm of religion, a word that calls to mind community gatherings and places of worship that long predate modern technology. But the fact of the matter is, when it comes to SMS technology, everyone is finding ways to advance the things that are important to them, and religion makes no exception. By embracing text messaging, some religions and religious organizations have found ways to make practice more convenient and accessible to all.
1023.
Love it or hate it, sexual health education in the U.S. experiences a dearth of funding and valid information, and people are fighting back. Efforts like volunteer teaching programs, fundraising, and awareness campaigns strive to give today's youth the information they need to make healthy decisions, but perhaps one of the most powerful moves made in this arena has been the push to use SMS and mobile applications to reach teens with comprehensive, factual information on sex and sexual health. After all, what better way is there to reach a teenager than through their cell phone?
1032.
With the expansion of cell phones into so many aspects of our lives, it's hardly surprising that cell phones are playing a growing role in the political sphere. A huge majority of 88% of American voters own cell phones, 27% of whom have used their devices for politics-related purposes. While it is clear that the relationship between cell phones and politics has grown to be significant, it is less immediately evident what, exactly, the new role of cell phones in politics is.
1198. Licensing
1199. PageGate software's Pager License is being re-labeled Recipient License. When PageGate software was initially released in 1996s, the term Pager License was used because pagers were primarily the devices being used for messaging. Times have changed and customers are using mobile phones and a wide array of devices for messaging. Recipient License is a more accurate description of the license, because PageGate sends messages to smartphones, cell phones, mobile phones, email addresses, fax machines, etc.
1200.
1201. PageGate software's pricing is a one-time charge for a Recipient License. The Recipient License price is for the main PageGate software engine. There are 9 different PageGate Recipient Licenses depending on the number of recipients. To decide which Recipient License to purchase, determine how many cell phones, smartphones, pagers, email addresses, etc... that PageGate will be sending to. For example, a PageGate software 5 Recipient License will register PageGate to send messages to 5 devices, regardless of what they are. Don't forget, PageGates front-end Interfaces and add-on modules are each priced separately from the Recipient License.
As well intentioned as you may be, it seems to become a routine, and one that far too many of us fall into.
When Miss Manners wrote about good manners and etiquette, mobile phones did not exist nearly to the extent they do in our society today. In an effort to assist cellphone users, we have written up some guidelines to help people use their mobile phones appropriately while navigating in polite society.
While cellular connectivity is a comfort to some, it can be rude and disruptive to others. You may wish to be available at all times, but there are some times when it is simply not appropriate to use your cell phone.
1434.
NotePage Is a Green Business

  1435.
A business that makes the decision to be environmentally-conscious will often promote goodwill among potential customers, while making the world a better place for future generations. Many businesses hesitate to adopt green practices because they fear it will hurt their bottom line and negatively impact profits. But many eco-conscious businesses discover that they can actually save money and bring in new customers who specifically patronize companies that actively make an effort to be environmentally friendly. Many customers may even be willing to pay a bit more for a product or service from a company that is green.
1436.
1437. Many businesses already do things that are eco-friendly, not necessarily because they are sensitive to green living, but simply to save money. That does not, however, diminish the value of their green efforts. The trick for businesses is to be eco-friendly without compromising profitability.
1445.
Multifunction Messaging Server Updated

  1446.

1447. NotePage, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of PageGate version 5. PageGate is a complete wireless messaging solution that incorporates a wide variety of messaging protocols for sending messages to mobile phones, wireless devices, fax machines and pagers.
1448.
1449. Wireless messaging communication is important in todays fast paced environment. PageGate allows critical alerts to be sent instantly to wireless devices regardless of the recipients locations. PageGate supports group messaging and preprogrammed alerts, so that with the press of a single button notification can be sent to defined groups of individuals.
1450.
1451. To ensure delivery even in the event of connectivity loss, PageGate version 5 supports failover options and redundant connectors. Messages that cannot be delivered to their intended recipients can be automatically redirected to a backup recipient or group, or the message can be sent to the same recipient via an alternative delivery method.
1452.
1453. Messages can be sent into PageGate via: a Windows client, web page, email, commandline, text file, serial port, modem, wireless modem, wireless phone or the Internet.
1454.
1455. PageGate's modular design allows users to select from eight different interfaces, allowing users to scale PageGate to meet their business needs and expand as their needs change. Interfaces can be used individually or in conjunction with each other, as PageGate can receive and process messages simultaneously from multiple sources.
1456.
1457. PageGate supports multiple telecom carriers, multiple connectors, direct connections to paging terminals, group paging, scheduled messages, repeating messages, on-call groups, and ad hoc paging, making it ideal for demanding, high-end messaging and communication.
1458.
1459. PageGate supports a variety of delivery methods including the following protocols: Fax, GSM-AT, SMTP, SNPP, TAP, Tone, UCP and WCTP. Messages can also be delivered out the serial port, or via the Internet and TCP/IP to another computer.

  1470. Realtors and RSS
1471. Reach Customers A New Way
1472. A large number of NotePage customers are realtors so I thought I would share this article about how Realtors are using NotePage's other software to increase communication. Daily more and more Realtors are turning to RSS as a tool to market homes for sale. The growing RSS phenomenon in the realty market makes perfect sense.
1473.
1474. Unlike email RSS feeds have a 100% delivery rate. In addition the costs involved in creating and managing an RSS feed are insignificant when compared to the print advertising Realtors spend on each week. Imagine the amount spent each week to promote various properties in circulars and weekly newspapers, compared to the costs associated with updating and managing an RSS feed.
1476.
1477. NotePager Pro and PageGate Support Tips
1478. Carrier Consolidation
1479. Many carriers that have gone through buyouts in recent years are restructuring their SMS networks to take old terminals off-line and merge other host information. A good example of this would be USA Mobility, Arch, and Metrocall. USA Mobility bought out Arch who bought out Metrocall and, for a little while, it was a guessing game as to whose host information would actually get a message delivered to a device. Fortunately, USA Mobility has decided to start clearing things up a bit and most messages can now be delivered through their Arch hosts and terminals.
1480.
1481. Group Loops
1482. When setting up groups, try not to loop them. Let's say we have groups 1 and 2. Group 2 is in the member list of group 1. If Group 1 is in the member list of Group 2, it's going to cause a message loop that will cause issues unlike anything I've seen. I only mention this because it's something I've run into at least four times this month.
1483.
1484. SMTP Settings
1485. When attempting to configure SMTP based carriers and recipients, we may not have the absolute, up to date information posted on the website. If a carrier has changed their cell phone or pager domain, it may take a week or two, possibly longer, for us to find out and post the relevant changes. If a carrier's SMTP settings are in question, please contact the carrier for verification from them... and let us know about it so we can make the changes appropriate.
1486.
1487. Zetron & PageGate
1488. PageGate software supports a direct serial connection (TAP/TAPI) to a paging terminal (i.e. Zetron).
