The Chief Executive Officer, Emy Cargo and Shipping Services Limited, Emeka Okonkwo, aka E-Money is under investigation at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon, over alleged N1, 209,200,000 dispute with a vehicle dealing company, Autocorp Limited, in Lagos State.
A police source who is privy to the case but pleaded anonymity told PUNCH Metro that Okonkwo and the aggrieved party had been invited for questioning, adding that another meeting had been scheduled for the case.
In a bid to ascertain the facts behind the over N1.2bn that reportedly caused the dispute between both parties, our correspondent, during a conversation with the sales manager for the vehicle dealing company, Patricia Iduwre, discovered that the company contracted Okonkwo to clear eight vehicles in 2020/2021.
According to Iduwre, the vehicles comprised six TXL Prado and two Lexus jeeps valued at N1, 209,200,000, adding that despite Okonkwo clearing the vehicles, the company had yet to take delivery of them till date.

She said, “When we gave him the vehicles to clear, they were valued at N1.2bn. All along, we thought the vehicles were at his warehouse but recently, he said he had sold the vehicles. He said he sold the vehicles because we owed him, whereas we did not owe him.
“In this business, it is after an agent supplies that you pay and he has not even supplied any of the vehicles. We involved our lawyer and reported the case to the police and it was during dialogue with him (Okonkwo) that we got to know he had sold the vehicles. When the police intervened, the reason he gave for selling the vehicles was that we owed him.
“He also said our chairman asked him to sell the vehicles but when the police engaged our chairman, he said he never gave him (Okonkwo) such a directive. Our chairman also told the police to tell Okonkwo to provide evidence that he said he should sell it.”
Iduwre, while demanding the vehicles, urged the police to investigate the case.
She added, “The police asked if he (Okonkwo) claimed to have sold the vehicles at the instance of the chairman, did he give us the money? He then said he used the money to offset debts.
“When he was asked which debt, he said my chairman asked him to use the vehicles to borrow money from the bank. But my chairman debunked that claim.
“My chairman said he is eligible to borrow money from the bank himself, so why would he ask Okonkwo to borrow money from the bank? What we want are the vehicles we asked him to clear; we don’t want any money.”
The lawyer representing the vehicle dealing company, Raymond Olaiya, in a petition to the FCID, described the monetary dispute involving the company and Okonkwo as that of “stealing, fraudulent conversion and criminal sale.”
The petition read in part, “We write on the instruction of our client, Autocorp Limited, to complain of stealing and fraudulent conversion of the company’s imported vehicle numbering eight, which amounted to about N1,209,200,000.
“The vehicles were among several other imported vehicles contracted out to Emy Cargo to be cleared from the Nigerian Ports at Apapa between 2020 and the first quarter of 2021. The eight Four-Wheel Drive jeeps were, till date, never delivered to our company, ever since Emy Cargo cleared them from the Nigerian Ports.
“We, therefore, implore you to use your good offices to help track the whereabouts of these vehicles, which were specifically ordered for by our company to be delivered to our clients, and we would appreciate your timely intervention in bringing Emeka Okonkwo, the CEO of Emy Cargo, to justice as a deterrent to others.”
Okonkwo, when contacted, said the allegation was not true but confirmed that a business transaction happened between both parties.
He said, “It is a false allegation; it is not true. There is a resolution and a business transaction between both parties. However, I am not in town. It is not a phone talk. I will be available on Friday; I am giving you an appointment so you can come over to hear my side of the story.”When contacted, the spokesperson for the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Aminat Mayegun, confirmed that Okonkwo had been under investigation.
She said, “Yes, we are investigating the matter concerning (Okonkwo). The matter is about the conversion and it is being investigated at the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Force. The case is under investigation; we have extended an invitation to him and he has acknowledged the investigation.
“Based on the petition, he was once invited and he came. And now, we have to call both parties involved for another discussion and a date has been scheduled for it.”

<h2 data-reader-unique-id="6">Veteran Nollywood actress, Shan George, has recovered the ₦3.6 million stolen from her bank account by a fraudster.</h2>
the movie star, in a video shared on her Instagram page last Friday, claimed that her Zenith Bank account was drained of N3.6 million by an individual identified as Cecilia Chiagoziem Okoro.
The actress said she was “koboless” and appealed to Nigerians to help retrieve her money.
Shan George George also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and Zenith Bank to help recover her stolen funds.
In a new development, Shan George, in a post via her Instagram page on Wednesday, announced to Nigerians that she had retrieved her stolen funds.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who paid attention to her plight and helped her to recover the money.
She also promised to share her full story at a later time.
She wrote, “Pls Join me here Live at 7pm Nigeria time for full story. I’ve recieved my money back. Thank u to @zenithbankplc @opay.ng @safehavenbank. To all those who called, txted, and even sent me their token to enable me pursue d issue, God bless u abundantly and replenish ur pockets a billion folds.”

<h2 data-reader-unique-id="6">Bankrupt crypto exchange, FTX has announced its plans to distribute between $14.5 billion and $16.3 billion to its creditors and customers globally. This decision follows the legal fallout of the exchange’s co-founder and former CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, who was convicted of fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering.</h2>
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the newly appointed CEO and Chief Restructuring Officer, John J. Ray III, these funds were recovered from assets formerly owned by Bankman-Fried, which have been liquidated.
The total recovery amount reflects contributions from a range of sources, including the Chapter 11 debtors, Joint Official Liquidators from various jurisdictions, and several private entities that assisted in the recovery efforts.
The collapse of FTX in November 2022, once a titan in the digital currency market, represented a significant blow to investors and customers, who suddenly found themselves grappling with substantial financial losses. Prosecutors revealed during the trial that Bankman-Fried had misappropriated funds from FTX to support personal ventures and other business interests under the guise of Alameda Research, a related hedge fund.
Following a month-long trial, Bankman-Fried was convicted on all charges in a Manhattan federal court, concluding with a 25-year prison sentence handed down in March this year. He was also ordered to forfeit over $11 billion, underscoring the scale of the financial devastation caused by his actions.
In addition to outlining the recovered amount, FTX’s statement shed light on the complex asset recovery process, which included monetizing a diverse portfolio of investments and litigation claims previously held by Alameda and FTX Ventures. However, due to the initial discrepancies in the crypto holdings reported by FTX at the time of the Chapter 11 filing, the appreciation of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum could not be capitalized upon.
FTX has stated that all non-governmental creditors will be fully compensated based on the claim values determined by the Bankruptcy Court. A special arrangement will also be made for governmental creditors, which includes the accrual of interest at up to 9% from the initiation of the Chapter 11 proceedings until the funds are distributed.

Famous Yoruba actor Yinka Quadri has finally spoken out after days of quiet when a video emerged showing him and Taiwo Hassan Ogogo resolving their long-standing dispute, which had sparked considerable speculation.
Yinka Quadri’s absence from Ogogo’s daughter Shaki’s wedding and naming ceremony was speculated to be due to their feud.
In a surprise turn of events, the bickering Nollywood actors put aside their differences and publicly buried the hatchet with an emotional hug at their colleague Yomi Fabiyi’s birthday party.
The actor, speaking in Yoruba, openly discussed the grounds for his reconciliation with his old buddy, emphasising that their private conflict had been kept hidden until now.
Yinka explained that, while conflicts were unavoidable, he and Ogogo had maturely overcome their issues over time.
He also attributed the lasting power of their friendship to a heavenly affinity, implying that their relationship was beyond human comprehension.

The senator representing Ondo South senatorial district, Jimoh Ibrahim, has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately dissolve his cabinet.

He made this call in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.
Ibrahim, who is a member of the Appropriation Committee in the Senate, noted that President Tinubu’s ministers are too cold.
He said: “You have to dissolve the cabinet. You have to come up with knowledgeable people. The cabinet is too cold.”
Ibrahim said the ministers do not fall in the country’s ‘Grade A’ and are not the best for Nigerians considering the economic situation of the country since the inauguration of President Tinubu.
He added: “If you fail to do that, you will be carrying their burdens and that will be terrible for our country. You have to dissolve the cabinet, you have to come up with knowledgeable people, the cabinet is too cold and some of them accused of corruption should be dropped.”

Former Manchester United playmaker, Paul Scholes, has claimed that three of the four goals Real Madrid scored in their semi-final tie against Bayern Munich “came from mistakes”.

Scholes was speaking after Madrid came from behind to defeat the Bavarians 2-1 on Wednesday night in the second leg.
The first leg ended 2-2 in Germany, with the LaLiga champions scoring twice through Vinicius Jr.
However, after going down to an Alphonso Davies’ goal at home, Joselu scored twice in three minutes to ensure Carlo Ancelotti’s men qualify for the final.
“If you look over the two legs, three of Madrid’s goals came from mistakes. The manager can’t always legislate for that.
“We don’t think the subs were right, but this is Real Madrid, you can’t rule them out – this is what they do,” Scholes said on TNT Sports.

Former Real Madrid reject, Joselu scored a remarkable last-gasp double as Real Madrid came back from the brink to defeat Bayern Munich 2-1 at the Bernabeu and reach the 2024 UEFA Champions League final.
 
The striker came off the bench to poach a brace of close-range goals right at the death and secure an incredible 4-3 success on aggregate after Bayern substitute Alphonso Davies had put the visitors in the driving seat of the final.
Real had the best chance of a tight first half, but Manuel Neuer produced a smart save to deny Rodrygo after Vinicius Junior’s shot had come back off the post.
 
Neuer continued to produce saves upon saves in the second period as Los Blancos applied pressure and another excellent stop saw the German goalkeeper deny the Vinicius Jr.

Bayern then hit the 14-time European winners on the counter in the second half, with Davies picking the perfect moment to net his first goal in the competition when he cut in from the left and rifled home on 68 minutes.
 
Real’s hopes looked over but they kept applying pressure and substitute Joselu hit a rebound after an error from Neuer to level on 88 minutes before tapping in at the far post in stoppage time to break the hearts of Bayern Munich fans.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign former Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, before Justice Sylvanus Oriji of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama on Thursday.
Sirika, who served under the administration of former president Muhammadu Buhari, would be arraigned on a six-count amended charge.
To be arraigned alongside Sirika are his daughter, Fatima; Jalal Hamma and Al-Duraq Investment Ltd, for alleged abuse of office to the tune of N2.7bn.

This comes after a social media user shared a throwback post where Davido lambasted the couple on Twitter.
The resurfaced post shows Davido airing his grievances in the comments section of a post by actress Eniola Badmus.
Badmus had congratulated Mercy Johnson on what was believed to be the arrival of her fourth child years ago.
In his comment, Davido also congratulated the couple, but he noted that the couple are wicked people.
“Wicked people…. Congrats tho,” he penned.
When a follower inquired about the reason for his harsh remark, Davido simply replied, “Just evil set of people.”
