It’s our goal that every game in the line could be your new favourite game.
We’ve got our first two games arriving next year, with a new title releasing annually thereafter!
First up is a brand new design from the king of co-op himself, Matt Leacock (Pandemic, Pandemic: Legacy, Daybreak, Forbidden Island). Matt has teamed up with Lisa Towell – a real world animal rescuer – to create Animal Rescue Team. You and your friends will puzzle out the perfect rescues of creatures big and small. One game might have you arriving just in time to save a coop of distressed chickens, and another may have you fruitlessly trying to rescue a cow with a motorcycle, or cursing yourselves for ‘unfortunate horse logistics’. The game will be crowdfunded in early 2025, and should find its way to your local game shop by October 2025.
The second in the “SU&SD Presents” line is a remastering of one of our all-time favourites, Dogs of War, from legendary designer Paolo Mori (Ethnos, Libertalia, Blitzkrieg!). This game has been out of print for far too long, so it is not only exciting to see it back, but also with a SU&SD spin on it, packing more punch in a smaller box, at a lower price. This will be the definitive version of a certified classic with a sumptuous new lick of paint by Edu Valls (Bitoku, Redwood, 3 Ring Circus). Dogs of War will be coming to retail in late 2025.

Let’s start by deploying a Vultr server with the Anaconda marketplace application.

After deploying a Vultr server, we’ll next deploy a Vultr-managed PostgreSQL Database. We’ll also create two new databases in our database instance that will be used to connect with our Airflow application later in the blog.

Now that we’ve created a Vultr-managed PostgreSQL instance, we’ll use the Vultr server to create a Conda environment and install the required dependencies.

After preparing the environment, now let’s connect our Airflow application with the two databases we created earlier within our database instance and make necessary changes to the Airflow configuration to make our application production-ready.

Now let’s daemonize our Airflow application so that it runs in the background and continues to run independently even when we close the terminal and log out.
These steps will also help us to create a persistent service for the Airflow webserver, scheduler, and celery workers.

It all starts with strips – though ordinally my center four-patches came together as Leaders & Enders.
But who has time for THAT on retreat? We are pedal to the metal and getting blocks put together – not just going home with a pile of random units. right?

And it’s about consistency – being consistent.
Subcut your four=patches into already matched pairs ready to sew through the machine by placing your strip sets right sides together and nesting that center seam BEFORE cutting.
You’ll get the cutting done in half the time – and there is zero time spent matching anything as they are already right sides together. Do all of the matching of what will end up next to what during the cutting process so then all you have to do is sew sew sew.
Did you know? if you send ALL of the four-patch pairs through the machine with the top seam facing up toward the needle your feed dogs will not flip the bottom seam allowance and shift those nested seams apart?
If you send them all with the top seam toward the needle, all of the seams will spin clockwise on the back of the four-patch. No matter how you turn the four-patches they will nest with each other. 
It doesn’t come to play in this quilt because they are the center of the block and don’t nest with anything, but let’s say you are making a four-patch border and need to turn these around to get the best color placement – you want all of the seam allowances to spin in the same direction so they don’t fight each other.

The view from the top of Grassy Creek –
Yesterday I mentioned that we were taking the Subie to the fix it place to have some maintenance done. I followed Hubster Dave in the van while he drove – and I had to stop – okay “pause” at the top of Grassy creel to get a photo to show how things are greening up with trees getting their leaves.
It was an off and on rainy day – but the gentle drenchin “April Showers Bring May Flowers” kind of rain.
A great day to be inside quilting!
Today is our “intermediate” day and most of the quilters are taking off this morning for a round of quilt shop hopping and likely lunch out. 
The few that remain will continue to work on their blocks.
Workshop will resume tomorrow with two kinds of setting triangles and corner triangles so they’ll be able to see how things get set on-point.

The goal of being a manager is to hire and train your replacement. Managers will not be able to get promoted without someone to take their place. Oh sure, you can get the promotion. But then you will have to do two jobs (while getting paid for one). Managers will be pulled in multiple directions until someone is hired. So, the best thing to do is develop your replacement.
Developing employees doesn’t make a manager dispensable. <a href="https://www.hrbartender.com/2019/leadership-and-management/managers-developing-talent/">In fact, having a reputation for developing talent will make a manager indispensable</a>. And if the manager doesn’t want to get promoted or move to another position, then the employee(s) they’ve been developing can take the job. 
I’ve seen a lot – and I’m sure you have too – of seminars and articles that talk about being such a great manager that no employee wants to leave. Again, I’m not sure that’s the goal. Granted, we don’t want employees leaving because their manager is a failure. The goal is to encourage employee development and when employees are ready, the manager should support them moving into better roles.
But this means that managers need to learn how to delegate well. I like to think of delegation as understanding what things employees can: 
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Just do it and never tell anyone about</li>
<li>Do it and tell the manager later</li>
<li>Immediately go to the manager for guidance. </li>
</ul>
Ideally, managers want to delegate to employees. This allows employees to learn. It also frees up the manager to work on more employee development. 
For managers to delegate well, they need to have two things:
<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li>A good working relationship with the employee and </li>
<li>An accurate understanding of the employee’s performance and capabilities. </li>
</ol>
<a href="https://www.hrbartender.com/2016/leadership-and-management/work-managers-delegate/">Managers want to delegate when they know that the employee is capable of doing the work</a>. Plus, the employee is comfortable making decisions about the work or asking for guidance when necessary. 
If an employee doesn’t know how to do the work, then delegating to them might make an employee feel like they’re being set up to fail. If an employee knows how to do the work but wouldn’t go to their manager for assistance if they needed it, then it’s possible that mistakes might happen (versus proactively addressing the matter). 
The other thing to keep in mind is that delegating is not an all or nothing activity. A manager might delegate one task to an employee but not another. Maybe because the employee is still learning something. This is perfectly normal. The same is true for employees. A manager might delegate a task to one employee and not another. This could be because one employee has been with the company longer and has more historical knowledge to make decisions. 
While my explanation of delegation might sound very easy, the truth is … delegation is hard. Both in terms of evaluating when / who / what to delegate and whether the manager is comfortable giving up control. There are managers who feel that if they control everything, then there won’t be any mistakes. <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/mind-of-the-manager/202409/why-micromanagement-is-so-harmful">Those managers are sometimes called micromanagers</a>. 
And getting back to the introduction of this article, micromanagers often don’t get promoted or asked to be on the CEO’s super-secret task force because they don’t have anyone who can manage the day-to-day of their department. Sometimes micromanagers get calls after hours, on weekends, and during their vacation because no one can do anything without checking-in first. You see where I’m going with this.
One of the reasons I wanted to talk about delegation is because of all <a href="https://www.shrm.org/topics-tools/news/employee-relations/incivility-and-return-to-office-mandates">the conversation these days about return to the office mandates</a>. It’s important to remember that even with employees returning to the office, it’s still good for managers to learn how to delegate. Delegating well helps the manager achieve their own career goals. It also helps them develop their employees – which helps the individual employee and ultimately the organization.

Netflix just gave fans a first look at Squid Game Season 3 — and it’s looking darker than ever. The teaser opens with pink guards wheeling out a black coffin, only to reveal Gi-hun inside. He’s back, and this time he’s not playing — he’s taking the game down from the inside.
Expect chaos. A giant gumball machine spits out red and blue balls, hinting at new rules. The Front Man returns, along with detective Hwang Jun-ho and a stack of familiar players. The trailer closes with a baby’s cry — eerie, cryptic, and very on-brand.
Season 2 shattered Netflix records, and Season 3 is ready to finish what it started.
Squid Game Season 3 hits Netflix on June 27.
