  86. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">You’re not good enough.</span></i></li>
  87. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">You’re not smart enough.</span></i></li>
  88. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">You’re not pretty enough.</span></i></li>
  89. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">You’re too old… or too young.</span></i></li>
  90. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">No one will believe in you.</span></i></li>
  91. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">No one will support your dream.</span></i></li>
  92. </ul>
  93. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That voice may come from inside your head, but let me tell you right now: it’s not telling you the truth. That voice is not </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">you</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">. It’s simply a survival mechanism—your brain trying to keep you safe by keeping you small. But you weren’t put on this earth to play small!</span></p>
  94. <h3><b>Self-Love is About Owning Your Worth</b></h3>
  95. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Self-love isn’t about ignoring your flaws; it’s about embracing your worth and value, honoring all the beautiful qualities you have </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">alongside</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> your imperfections. It’s not about keeping score but about caring for yourself as you navigate life’s journey.</span></p>
  96. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Because your brain is wired for survival, it will say things like:</span></p>
  97. <ul>
  98. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t take risks.</span></i></li>
  99. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t trust that relationship.</span></i></li>
  100. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t believe in your own greatness.</span></i></li>
  101. </ul>
  102. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s trying to protect you, but your </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">soul</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">—your </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">essence</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">—wants to thrive. It wants you to live boldly, love deeply, and step into your divine assignment. That’s why self-love is about shutting down those lies and replacing them with </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">truth</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
  103. <h3><b>How to Silence Negative Self-Talk</b></h3>
  104. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Negative self-talk doesn’t just disappear overnight, but you </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">can</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> take away its power. </span><b>Here’s how:</b></p>
  105. <h4><b>1. Recognize It</b></h4>
  106. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You can’t change something you don’t acknowledge. So, start by recognizing the negative thoughts when they arise. Are you telling yourself that you’ll never succeed? That you’re not worthy? Bring those thoughts into the light, because anything operating in the dark loses its power.</span></p>
  107. <h4><b>2. Challenge It</b></h4>
  108. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ask yourself, </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Is this really true?</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> More often than not, the answer will be a resounding NO. When I used to hear my inner voice say, </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lisa, you’re ugly</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">, I couldn’t immediately replace it with, </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lisa, you’re beautiful.</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> That felt too far out of reach. So instead, I told myself, </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">God made me unique, and no one else has my unique beauty.</span></i></p>
  109. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So, when you hear that negative voice, replace it with a thought that feels true for you in this moment—one that affirms your worth.</span></p>
  110. <h4><b>3. Set Healthy Boundaries</b></h4>
  111. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Self-love also means setting boundaries—not just with others, but with yourself. When negative self-talk starts creeping in, set a firm boundary: </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">I will not allow this lie to take root in my mind.</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Prioritize your needs so you can show up as your best self for those who count on you.</span></p>
  112. <h3><b>You Are Enough—Right Now</b></h3>
  113. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Let me remind you of something powerful: You woke up enough.</span></p>
  114. <ul>
  115. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">You woke up smart enough.</span></li>
  116. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">You woke up wise enough.</span></li>
  117. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">You woke up bold enough.</span></li>
  118. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">You woke up worthy enough.</span></li>
  119. </ul>
  120. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">No matter what happens today, you are </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">already</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> enough. You are worthy of love and respect—</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">first and foremost from yourself</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
  121. <h3><b>Your Past Does Not Define You</b></h3>
  122. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I want to leave you with this: no matter where you come from, no matter what you’ve been through, you have the power to rewrite your story. It doesn’t matter what your chapter 4 looks like—you just have to keep writing until you get to chapter 24.</span></p>
  123. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I did it, and so can you. Your past does not define you. It </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">prepares</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> you.</span></p>
  124. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So today, choose love over self-doubt. Choose belief over fear. Choose to silence the negative self-talk and step into the bold, powerful, limitless version of yourself.</span></p>

  245. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hello, and welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show, where we gather as a community of unicorns and gladiators to discuss tips and tools for living your best life in every season. We all have dreams and goals, but the journey to achieving them is rarely smooth. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we get knocked down. We’ve all been there—a coaching client backs out of your program, you get hit with an unexpected car repair, or you get sick or injured, and have to take some time off to recover.</span></p>
  246. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There&#8217;ll be obstacles, setbacks, failures, and breakdowns, but remember, every setback is actually a setup to a comeback. When things go wrong, it can feel disheartening and discouraging, and you might be tempted to give up. But let me tell you something: the most successful people in the world are not those who never fail, but those who never, ever quit. So how do you keep going when things get tough or when it feels as if everything you&#8217;re trying isn’t working? </span></p>
  247. <p><b>Reframe your mindset</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
  248. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">See challenges as opportunities for growth, not as roadblocks. Take the time you need to stop, breathe, and reset. Get out in nature to get grounded, listen to uplifting music or podcasts, and take this moment to bring the joy back to your soul. Remember, diamonds are formed under pressure. You, my friend, are a diamond. </span></p>
  249. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">S</span><b>tay focused on</b> <b>your</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> “</span><b>why”</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
  250. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Your “why” is the reason you&#8217;re pursuing the goal in the first place. It&#8217;s what keeps you motivated and driven. Take the time to stop and remind yourself why you chose to pursue this goal, dream, and life. Do you want to prove to yourself that you deserve better than the way you are living? Are you setting an example for the people you love, inspiring them to live better lives? When things are getting tough or when no one else understands your vision, remind yourself of your “why.” Let go of the “when” and the “how” for just a minute, and get back to your “why.”</span></p>
  251. <p><b>Seek support</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">. </span></p>
  252. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You don&#8217;t have to do all of this alone, Lone Ranger. Reach out to mentors. Join a community or find a coach. Surround yourself with like-minded, like-hearted people who will lift you up and inspire you to keep going—and realize that sometimes they might not be the people that you live with, and that’s ok. Remember, it&#8217;s not about how many times you fall, but how many times you get back up. So keep getting up, keep pushing, and keep believing in your dreams. My daddy used to say, “</span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Baby girl, I&#8217;m not going to teach you how to always fly, because sometimes you&#8217;re not going to fly. I&#8217;m going to teach you how to bounce back all the time, so that when you fall, it&#8217;s just for a moment. You can get knocked down, but you don&#8217;t ever have to stay down.</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">” I remember those words when I feel discouraged or when the obstacles seem insurmountable.</span></p>
  253. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Remember, I&#8217;m your sister in this journey. Today, I&#8217;m sitting in the coliseum that I worked in when I was 18 years old, back when I had no idea who Lisa could become. I had more questions, more confusion, and Lord knows more insecurities than I&#8217;d ever imagined. Here&#8217;s what I did. I just kept going. I just kept getting back up. This is my first time back in the coliseum since 1984. And while it looks the same, I&#8217;m not the same woman as I sit here today. My perseverance has brought me to a place that 18-year-old Lisa never could have imagined, because I kept going, even when things got tough, and I’m so glad that I did.</span></p>
  254. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As you continue to transform and continue to become, know that I&#8217;ll continue to be by your side in the journey.   373. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show, where we work together to amplify our lives and make our big dreams a reality. I’m so excited for us to launch into this next season together. There are so many things that we have learned, and some things we need to relearn. As we step deeper into the new year, you might be saying, “I really want to stick with my goals,” or “I want to stop jumping in and out of my goals and learn how to stay focused and see them through.” What I’ve come to realize is that there are some strategies that allow you to stay on track regardless of life’s unexpected twists and turns. So, I’ve put together my Top 5 Tips for Staying on Track. </span></p>
  374. <p><b>Personal Growth</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
  375. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">What does that mean? First of all, you have to realize that you are worth the investment. You are worth taking the time to grow in your knowledge and skills, as well as in your personal and spiritual life. So how do you do this? I like to set </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">growth goals</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">. I start by taking an inventory of where I am personally, financially, spiritually, physically, and in relationships. Then I set my growth goals to expand myself—we’re all on a journey to become the best versions of ourselves, but without a roadmap, we can find ourselves falling into the same patterns and habits that have kept us stuck in the mud. I actually used to set aside time in my schedule for learning new things. Years ago, I made it a non-negotiable time to learn from 10:00-12:00 every Tuesday and Thursday. And I would do it, because it was important for me to become my best version, just like it’s important for you to become your best version.</span></p>
  376. <p><b>Self Care &amp; Wellbeing</b></p>
  377. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The number one self care item on this list is rest and recovery. As I write this, I’m getting ready to take an extended break to recharge my batteries. I used to use my “break time” to cram in as many activities as I could, and I would come back to work feeling as if I hadn’t had any kind of break at all. Now, I’ve started to block off some “do nothing days.” These are days that I can just allow to unfold in any way that they happen to, without scheduled activities. Allowing yourself the space to do nothing helps to quiet the mind, and reset your nervous system. </span></p>
  378. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another part of self care can be mindful practices. I didn’t grow up using the term “mindful,” but regardless of what you’d like to call it, it’s allowing yourself to be completely in the moment to experience mental stillness. Some things that can help you become more mindful are journaling, meditating, walking in nature, and just letting yourself breathe and feel whatever you feel. I remember walking among the mountains, and feeling so close to God that I was brought to tears—good, cleansing tears. So whatever your mindfulness practice, give your mind that spaciousness to think, to breathe, and to reset. </span></p>
  379. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Your body wants to live out your life’s calling, so you need to stay active, stay hydrated, nourish your body with nutrients, so you can go play big. When I am doing all of the things I need to do to stay healthy, I can’t believe how clear my mind is and how easily I can accomplish my goals. You may know, I used to struggle with my physical wellness, and that often got in the way of living my best life, because I was fatigued and couldn’t concentrate like I can now. When you are active and nourish your body, it feels good. How you feel in your body has everything to do with how you feel in the world. How you feel in the world has everything to do with your quality of life. So, be good to your body.</span></p>
  380. <p><b>Relationships</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
  381. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Relationships are everything—they determine the quality of your life. I’ve coached so many people in my executive coaching program who are wildly successful in their careers, but struggle in relationships, because they didn’t take the time to nurture them. When you look at the relationships around you, be intentional about setting boundaries. Be intentional about your “yes,” so that it means something. If you never say “no,” your “yes” isn’t as valuable. </span></p>
  382. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Spend real time with people. I don’t mean texting or email. Actually pick up the phone and call your friend, even if it&#8217;s only for 30 minutes—it’s worth so much more than a text. Hearing the sound of each other’s voices helps you to connect in a way that texting just can’t duplicate. Let them know, “I was thinking about you and wanted to give you a call,” even if you only have a short time to visit. </span></p>
  383. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Network with a purpose and connect with people who have added value to your life previously. Thank your mentors, coaches, old bosses, and colleagues. Be grateful for those who have poured their energy into you and helped you become who you are.</span></p>
  384. <p><b>Gratitude &amp; Celebration</b></p>
  385. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Gratitude is the fertilizer that nourishes the seed of any intention that you have. Make it a daily practice. Feel the joy and expansion of being grateful at the beginning of your day. I start my day by thanking God for everything in my life while I’m getting ready in the morning. Starting my day full of gratitude makes me show up differently in the world. </span></p>
  386. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t forget to celebrate your small victories—the phone call to a potential client, the connection you made at your child’s sporting event, or whatever step you have taken that brings you closer to your goals. Remember that you aren’t going to get there by taking a thousand steps at once, but by taking one or two steps many times over. When you celebrate the micro-wins, they become macro-wins. Celebrate your wins with others. </span></p>
  387. <p><b>Courage &amp; Resilience</b></p>
  388. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I’ve come to understand and accept that life will throw you challenges, but courage and resilience are going to see you through. If you want to win, you have to take risks. You’re either going to fly or you’re going to bounce back. Failure is feedback to rewire, learn the lesson, and begin again. Remind yourself that you are ready for challenges, and stay committed. Be about the grind, and don’t get caught up in the setbacks. Don’t get so caught up in the process that you miss out on the deliciousness of the outcome. Realize that the outcome isn’t just about you—it’s also about the people who are inspired by your climb. </span></p>

  510. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show, the place where I help you to learn, grow, and achieve more by giving you the tools you need, and the community where you will always be welcomed like family.   511. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Over my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with countless coaches, trainers, CEOs, and influencers in the industry, and while each of these professionals is different and unique, what I’ve noticed is that most are vulnerable to believing the common myths that circulate through the community—and I am here to dispel those myths that keep us from fully shining our light.</span></p>
  512. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you missed parts one and two, please check out the links below and play catch up! In Part One, we talked about the myth that “the coaching industry is saturated.” That’s simply not true. As more and more people become aware of how coaching and self development can help them achieve their life’s goals, the more coaches will be needed to satisfy the demand. So, no. The coaching market is far from being saturated. </span></p>
  513. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The second myth (in Part Two), was that we need to use a flashy marketing strategy to get clients, and that marketing can make up for lack of confidence and certainty. People want to work with coaches who can authentically meet them where they are and help them to grow. It’s important that your clients believe in you and trust you, regardless of your marketing. Show people how you can help them, and that you genuinely care, and they will naturally gravitate toward you.</span></p>
  514. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So today, we’re going to bust Myth #3, which is:</span></p>
  515. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I need to speak, coach, and build my business exactly like other leaders in the industry.”</span></p>
  516. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Let me ask you a question. If your clients wanted to work with Coach X, why wouldn’t they go directly to them? Why would they engage with a carbon copy when they could work with the original? Your clients want to work with you, not someone that they don’t know. So stop trying to be someone that you are not—just be MORE of who you are! Bring forth your natural gifts, talents, and personal experiences that made you the inspirational leader that you’ve become. Duplication is a disservice to you and your clients.</span></p>
  517. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Besides the inauthenticity of trying to be someone you’re not, you cannot become someone else. Their own life path and experience brought them to where they are—and your experiences are different and unique to you, so work with that. Take everything you’ve learned and use it to help your clients. Look, your clients don’t need a guru. They just need someone who is a few steps ahead of them on their path. They need someone who has done the work to get from where they are to where you are, and nobody knows that path better than you!</span></p>
  518. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you need help in building your business, find mentors that you know, or coaches in our MTM community, who serve students at every level of development. Your job is not to duplicate, but to develop your own unique formula using the tools provided by your mentors and coaches, and tweaking them to fit your own authentic story and style of coaching. This is a multi-billion dollar industry, and there is plenty of room for a multitude of coaching styles. What is your secret sauce? What’s something you can do differently that speaks to your audience? I would invite you to spend less energy trying to do what someone else is doing, and look inside yourself to discover the personal blueprint that will create success in your business. </span></p>

  638. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hi, there! Welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show, where we come together as a community to share the tools and encouragement that we all need to achieve our goals to live our best lives. I’m so glad you’re here. </span></p>
  639. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Over the years in my career, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work with countless coaches, trainers, speakers, facilitators, and change agents. While all of these incredible leaders are unique, there’s a common thread that I’ve noticed over the years: coaches and trainers are vulnerable to some common myths that stop them from achieving their best lives. In part one of this three-part series, we busted the myth that the market is saturated with coaches, trainers, and mentors—that simply isn’t true! </span></p>

But today, we’re going to talk about a second common myth that holds coaches and trainers back:</span></p>
  641. <p><b>A strong marketing strategy will make up for a lack of confidence and certainty.</b></p>
  642. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oh, no, it will not! Let me tell you something—all of the glitzy marketing in the world isn’t going to make up for your lack of confidence, or your lack of certainty. You cannot compensate for your personal insecurities by throwing money at it with expensive, glitzy, glamourous marketing strategies. When I started out, I didn’t have the money to pay for expensive marketing, and at the end of the day, that was really a blessing. It meant that I had to cultivate my confidence. I had to learn how to walk into a room knowing that what I was offering was exactly what people needed. Embodying more certainty comes from applied action. You must do the work and facilitate those skills over and over again.</span></p>
  643. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Look, we all have to face the reality that nothing outside of us is certain. We have to stop giving our power to external security and start finding that certainty within ourselves. Nobody is going to hire you because you have the best marketing strategy. Read that again—nobody is hiring you because of your marketing. They are hiring you because of your certainty. They want a coach or trainer who is </span><b>confident</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that they can deliver on the growth strategies, inspiration, and empowerment that clients crave.</span></p>
  644. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So, you might be wondering how to build this confidence and certainty? It’s the same strategy that you would build anything else—you must do the work. When you want to create a healthier body, are you going to take the elevator, or are you going to climb those stairs, building muscles and stamina with each step? In your business building, you need to do the work. You need to have conversations. You need to get in front of people and share your story. Show people how you can help them. A snazzy marketing strategy is like taking the elevator—it’s a fast way to attract clients, but it doesn’t make you better at your skills. Marketing might get people’s attention in the short term, but your certainty and confidence will inspire them to work with you, instead of just looking at your website and never taking the necessary action.</span></p>
  645. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I think we can safely say that we have busted myth #2 – that a strong marketing strategy will make up for lack of confidence and certainty.   764. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hi there. Welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show, where I share the tools that we need to live our best lives. During the course of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many coaches, trainers, and facilitators around the world who work in personal and business development. After working with so many people in this industry, I’ve noticed something—a lot of coaches are holding themselves back because of common myths they are hearing. And believing. I want to bust these myths one by one to help you to connect with your purpose. I know that what you’ve got is too good to keep to yourself, so let’s start with the most common myth I hear:</span></p>
  765. <p><b>Myth #1 The Market is Saturated</b></p>
  766. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This might show up in several different ways for you. Perhaps you’ve heard yourself saying things like:</span></p>
  767. <ul>
  768. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are so many coaches and trainers out there. I have nothing unique to add.</span></li>
  769. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">What I teach about this has already been taught. I’m late to the party.</span></li>
  770. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Everyone else is already talking about this topic. What do I have to add to the conversation?</span></li>
  771. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">No one’s going to want to hear from me. There are so many brilliant coaches out there.</span></li>
  772. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400;">I don’t have anything different to add. It’s all been said before.</span></li>
  773. </ul>
  774. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I have good news for you—no one is coaching and training the way that you do. There are a whole group of people out there who are waiting for you. There are people that don’t know about these other coaches and trainers. </span><b>They know you.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Only you can deliver it in your own unique way. Think about when you were a kid. Two different people could tell you the same thing, and you would listen to one, and the other’s words would fall on deaf ears. </span></p>
  775. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s the same way with coaching and training. It’s not </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">only </span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">the message. It’s the messenger. You have a unique way of delivering; a unique fingerprint. There are a group of people who are in complete alignment with how you bring your message to the world, and they’re just waiting for you, even if they don’t realize it—yet.</span></p>
  776. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The need and demand for transformation is greater than it’s ever been. Actually, the need is higher than the supply right now. Take a look at the world we live in. People are hungry for mental and emotional wellness, and they value communication and connection, but many are not finding it. You can fulfill that need for so many people. Now, I’m not saying you should just jump into this market. If you’re not already trained and certified, you will need to get your education and training first, but so many beautiful souls are waiting for you to help them. The market is by no means saturated when you take a look at the demand for this transformational work.</span></p>
  777. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Remember—people work with people they know, like, and trust. Your personality, presentation, and purpose are unique to you. How you deliver your message is exclusive to you, regardless of whether or not others have shared the same message. Think about </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">what will drive your right-fit client to you?</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Delivering your authenticity, passion, and message in a way that speaks to your ideal client will make all the difference.</span></p>
  778. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So is the market saturated? No—we’ve busted this myth. My goal here was to let you know that if you feel called to coach and train people, there are so many souls waiting to hear your message.   898. <p>Today, we’re talking about a topic that is near and dear to my heart. It’s something that has helped me to build my business, and can help you build your dreams, too.</p>
  899. <p>We’re talking about resourcefulness. Listen, people tell me all the time, “Lisa, I don’t have the money or resources to hire a web designer, get the training I need, get my book published, etc.” Hey, I get it. I didn’t always have the money, but I’ve always had the dream. And I was resourceful. I found creative ways to fund my dreams, because I refused to let them die due to a lack of money. You have dreams, too. Are you letting a lack of funding hold you back? Your biggest resource <em>is resourcefulness</em>.</p>
  900. <p>Let’s talk about some options that you can use to make your dreams a reality. First of all, let’s talk about <strong>crowdfunding</strong>. Websites like Kickstarter or GoFundMe have made it possible for anyone to raise funds to bring their dreams into reality. All you need is a compelling story and a supportive network of people who believe in your vision.</p>
  901. <p>Next, you can apply for <strong>grants and scholarships</strong>. You wouldn’t believe how much money is unclaimed from scholarships and grants each year. There are numerous organizations who offer financial support for various causes and projects. You’ll need to do a little research, but it’s worth it to find the people who are waiting to fund your dream. Back when I was getting started, I made use of scholarships and grants. It’s important to apply to more than one; I usually would do at least six applications at one time. There are so many businesses and organizations who have a budget for this, and they need applicants.</p>
  902. <p>Another great resource is <strong>bartering and trading</strong>. Maybe you are a coach who needs a website. Find a web designer who needs a coach and swap services! I did this over and over again in my business, trading my speaking for services that I needed. I have a staff member who once traded her coaching for housekeeping services, and she felt like she won the lottery, and so did her housekeeper. It’s a win-win, because you’re both getting value from the trade, and no money needs to be exchanged.</p>
  903. <p>Find those people who believe in your brand and build relationships and partnerships where you can grow together. Many investors are seeking brand associations that are in alignment with their values and mission statement, and you might be that brand, which can fund your dream and bring your product or service out into the world.</p>
  904. <p>Finally, <strong>write yourself a check</strong>—even if it’s not a lot. Over time, paying yourself can fund your dream better than you ever expected. When I was working for the L.A. Unified School District, I got paid every two weeks, and I’d write myself a check. That first check was $110, but after three years of writing checks to myself—over 90 checks—my dream of becoming an inspirational speaker became reality. Writing yourself a check cements your belief in yourself. How can you expect anyone else to believe in your dream if you don’t? So, invest in yourself, even if you have to get a second job. How badly do you want it? Are you willing to commit to yourself? Because if you can’t commit to yourself, you can’t expect others to commit to you or your dream.</p>
  905. <p>The path to achieving your dream isn’t going to be a straight line, so you’re going to have to take some bold, radical action. Your road is going to be winding, with unexpected curves and roadblocks and opportunities. Your resourcefulness will help you navigate that path, and you will be blown away by your own courage. If you’ve got the conviction to move mountains, there are no limits on what you can do.</p>
  906. <p>I want to make sure that you know that you are valuable. Your dream is invaluable. You’ve got one job. Don&#8217;t let your dream die in your belly. It has to have life. Remember, you have the power to make your dreams happen. Stay resourceful, stay creative, and most importantly, stay unstoppable. Until next time, know that every single time that I tell you that I believe in you and that I love you, it&#8217;s not because I&#8217;ve run out of other things to say. It&#8217;s because I believe in you, and I love you. Now get on your way to making your dreams your reality.</p>

  1024. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show—I’m so excited you’re here! We’ve discussed a lot of strategies and business building techniques in our time together, but today, I want to share something that can make or break your business. It’s not a product or service, or anything that you need to buy; it’s something you already possess. It’s you. You are the one that people are going to like, because they are drawn to your authenticity, your message, and your mission.</span></p>
  1025. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For people to like and follow you, you have to get to the strong essence of your “why” and get hungry for it. You’re not going to go after it unless you’re hungry enough. You need to remove all of the other options, and be willing to learn, grow, and </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">be uncomfortable</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Oh, yes. It’s going to take some strength to sit in that uncomfortable space of uncertainty while you build, which is why it’s important for you to be so hungry. There is no way you’ll give up if you want it badly enough.</span></p>
  1026. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You’ve got to be a </span><b>unicorn</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">. Yes, a unicorn—the kind of person who is willing to be unique, willing to be different, and willing to stand out in the crowd. So many people are doing ordinary things and expect to get extraordinary results. The path of ordinary will never get you to extraordinary. You must stand out from the crowd, even if it’s uncomfortable at first.</span></p>
  1027. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You don’t want to be somebody else’s clone. You’re meant to be you. You are one of a kind. You are a miracle. If you are following the crowd, you are not being the unicorn that you were created to be. Keep discovering who you are and who you’re becoming. Be different. Be unique. You are your own USP: Unique Serving Proposition. You might be doing the same thing that someone else is doing, but nobody else can do it quite like you.</span></p>
  1028. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You might only achieve micro wins, but you know what? Micro win, after micro win, after micro win makes a macro win that helps you to achieve a macro goal. </span><b>Are you ready</b><span style="font-weight: 400;">? Are you ready to not make your past equal your future? Are you ready to feel the fear and do it anyway? Are you willing to confront your limiting beliefs that stand between you and the life you deserve? Are you willing to pursue your dreams with a level of conviction, courage, and passion like you’ve never done before?</span></p>
  1029. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There is no secret sauce. It all starts with you. So, are you going to work for it? Are you going put in the time? Are you going to stop making excuses? If you’re coming up with 100 reasons why this isn’t going to work, you’re right—because you don’t want it bad enough. I want you to win because I truly believe in you, and I love you. That’s not just some schtick. I really mean it.  Because you’re here, I know that you have that fire in your belly to make it happen. You might still be playing it safe on the ordinary path, but you know you’re meant for more. You know like you know that you were put on this earth for more. Your higher power has a plan for you, and it’s up to you to see it through. Nobody can do it for you, and there’s no magic potion. Get excited about being you and shine that light for all to see. You weren’t meant to keep it for yourself!</span></p>
  1030. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I can’t wait to see the Transformed You—the unicorn you are and the you that you’re becoming.   1148. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hi there, and welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show. I love having you here in this community to connect and build better lives together. You may not know it, but it matters to me and to our family that you are here with us, because together, we can achieve more, grow more, and connect more to  impact the world. I’m at the point in my career where I have learned so much through my own trials and errors that I can share that valuable information to help you on your journey.</span></p>
  1149. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Today, I want to tell you about some of the things that will help you become a great keynote speaker. Now you might be saying, “Lisa, I just post videos on social media. I’m not speaking to a large live audience.” That doesn’t matter. I don’t care if you’re speaking to one person, or hundreds of people. It doesn’t matter if you’re recording a video in your car, or standing on a stage in an auditorium. You need to treat your audience as if you’re speaking to a filled stadium, every time. So, I’m here to share my Top 3 Tips for making your speaking engagements more powerful and memorable and to help you connect more fully with your audience.</span></p>
  1150. <h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">#1 &#8211; Make it a Dialogue, not a Monologue</span></h2>
  1151. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You know what I say every time I speak with you: I want it to be a two-way conversation, whether you’re coming to see me at a live event, or you’re watching a video like this one. You need to get your audience involved—make their story as important as your own. Your audience wants you to speak </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">with</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> them, not </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">at</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> them. There’s a big difference between those two things. </span></p>
  1152. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To get people involved, you can ask questions, or have them participate in some way. If you have a live audience, maybe say something like, “Raise your hand if you’ve ever experienced something like this.” Lots of people will raise their hands and nod their heads, because now you’ve got them engaged in the dialogue. They’re paying attention, letting you know that they can relate to what you’re saying. This helps you as a speaker, too.</span></p>
  1153. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you’re on a Zoom or other platform, speaking to a virtual audience, invite them to participate in the chat. You could say, “Tell me where you are on a scale of 1-10.” You’ll watch the chat box fill up with answers, and now you’ve got a dialogue. Or in the case of a pre-recorded video like this one, I always ask you to share in the comments section. It gets you involved in the conversation, and I love that.</span></p>
  1154. <h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">#2 &#8211; Add Sparkle and Zest</span></h2>
  1155. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We are all some kind of artist—so add some sparkle that attracts your audience by catching their attention with fun clothing, beautiful staging, music, or whatever speaks to you and your listeners. I love to have a simple, yet beautiful stage. Maybe you would like to use colored lighting behind you, or have photography or an accent piece that is eye-catching. Using relevant music is always great—you know when you go see a really dynamic speaker, and there is high energy music playing when they come on stage? That’s all part of the speaking engagement, whether you realize it or not, because it gets your attention and makes the speaker more interesting before they even open their mouth.</span></p>
  1156. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I recently spoke at an event where all of the speakers wore elaborate headpieces. You can choose clothing or wear a costume that is connected to your message. Know your audience. If you’re speaking to a group of spirited entrepreneurs, get creative and fun. Use whatever spark you can to elevate your speaking event and make it more engaging for your audience.</span></p>
  1157. <h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">#3 &#8211; Always Play Full Out</span></h2>
  1158. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Always. Say it with me, “Always play full out.” If you’re going to show up, SHOW UP. Don’t hold back—be generous with your energy, and give your audience 100% every time you speak. I mean this sincerely, whether you have 1 audience member or 100, they will feel how much you’ve put into it. Share your gifts with the audience—give them everything you have in that moment. Look at every speaking opportunity not only to share your message, but to share your gifts with the world. </span></p>
  1159. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Whether your gift is the gift of intuition, or beautiful energy, grace and ease, or it&#8217;s the gift of high energy and motivation, or it&#8217;s the gift of wisdom. Maybe you&#8217;re an intellect and you want to share the intellect that you have. Whatever your gifts are, they are meant to be shared with the world, so share them full out &#8211; don’t hold back!</span></p>
  1160. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This speaks to your authenticity as a speaker, as well. Your vulnerability is important. Share that story about your struggles, and what you had to overcome to get this far. Don’t hold back out of fear; be in it to win it. No matter how many people or what the circumstances, always give everything you’ve got at every speaking opportunity, and your audience will connect with your message and with you.</span></p>
  1161. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now, I hope this helps you, and just like I mentioned above, this show is not a monologue. This entire show is a dialogue. I would love to hear from you.   1279. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Hi, there. Welcome back to the Lisa Nichols Show, where we have grown-up conversations about how to live the life we love, how to navigate when things get tough, and how to make sure we are honoring our birthright to abundance. Today, we’re talking about one of those times when we have to navigate those times when things don’t go according to what you had planned. There are definitely some ways to handle when life throws you a curveball, and I’ll tell you about five of them that work for me.</span></p>
  1280. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One example that comes to mind is the pandemic four years ago. Nobody saw that coming, and it derailed the plans of billions of people. I had just moved to the Bahamas to spend more time with my husband, who was my boyfriend at the time. I moved into a home in the same town, which would allow us to date without the challenges of living in different countries. Forty-two days after I moved here, Covid hit. I was in a different country, away from my family and friends, and had a very brief window of time during which I could choose to fly back to the USA—and believe me, I considered it. I didn’t have a car, not that I could drive anyway, because they drive on the opposite side of the road here. I had to make a decision, because my plans were no longer possible in the way I had imagined. </span></p>
  1281. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another time I got derailed was when I launched Motivating the Masses over twenty years ago. Back then, it was Motivating the Teen Spirit. And, even though I thought I was going to be inspiring teens to be emotionally healthy, nobody was banging down my door to sign up for my programs. I had to decide if  I was going to give up, or change directions. I am so grateful I didn’t just quit, even when I felt like things weren’t working as I had planned. There are so many times I had to change directions, and I know you’ve experienced this, too. </span></p>
  1282. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So, today I am sharing my </span><b>Top 5</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> things to do when things don’t go according to your plans.</span></p>
  1283. <ol>
  1284. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Take a step back and evaluate the entire situation objectively.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Take all of the emotion out of it, and look at the facts. By taking the emotions out of it, you can accurately evaluate what went wrong, and why it happened. Then decide how you will do things next time to get a better outcome. Looking at it objectively provides you with invaluable information that you can use moving forward. Each time you can take a look at something from outside of a situation, the easier it will be. </span></li>
  1285. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Pivot and adapt.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Look, I know you were counting on things going according to the original plan, but please do not hold onto a sinking ship. You have to be willing to follow a new path when you’re dealt an unexpected hand. Maybe you lost a job or got sick. Maybe a loved one passed away, or you had to relocate for a job. Holding on to the original plan just isn’t going to help you—you’re going to have to let it go, and move in a new direction, even though it’s hard. Oftentimes, this takes you in a better direction, so be open to what presents itself. Don’t let your ego stand in the way of your big pivot.</span></li>
  1286. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Give yourself grace.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> THIS is a big one—give yourself grace! You are allowed to feel your feelings. Feelings are neither right or wrong, but they are real. Feeling disappointed, frustrated, embarrassed, or ashamed is completely natural, so take a moment. If you’re a leader, you’re going to have breakdowns. If you don’t, you’re not playing full out. So feel your emotions, and then move on. Don’t live there, or you will definitely get stuck. And always know that you are not alone (YANA). We all make mistakes and have challenges. Remember that, move through the emotions, and when you’re ready, move on!</span></li>
  1287. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Call on your tribe.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Hey, I know this can be hard, and it took me a while to learn how to do this for myself. You do not have to walk this path alone. The wisest people I know always call on their tribe. If you think you don’t have a community, and that you’re in it alone, then you need to build a community. And remember that you are a part of THIS community. I’d love for you to come to one of my events, either in person or virtually to really connect with this like-minded group of people, and know you are supported.</span></li>
  1288. <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><b>Keep moving forward. </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">Don’t get stuck in the quicksand. When you are growing, nothing stays the same—and it’s not supposed to! Eventually, what you’re going through right now will be in the rearview mirror…as long as you are committed to forging ahead. Take a look at what happened, learn from it, and make a new plan. If something similar happens in the future, you can look at it and say, “I’ve seen this before, and I know exactly what to do.” You are building your resiliency muscle as well as your faith muscle. You cannot build these muscles without tackling challenges, because that’s what makes you stronger. </span></li>
  1289. </ol>
  1290. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I want you to remember that when a plan doesn’t go the way you wanted, you get to find out what you’re made of. You get to realize who you’re becoming, and connect with your convictions. Look at unexpected circumstances as opportunities to learn and grow. As long as you don’t stop trying, you cannot fail.</span></p>
