44.
Major boost to Saregama’s regional catalogue

 45.
The acquisition covers over 6,500 tracks across Haryanvi, Punjabi, Ghazals, Devotional, and Indie Pop genres. This strategic move also brings into Saregama’s fold the highly popular YouTube channels NAV Haryanvi and Nupur Audio, which together have more than 24 million subscribers. The newly acquired library includes multiple viral hits such as ‘Coco Cola’ (900 million views), ‘Parvati Boli Shakar Se’ (500 million views), and ‘Loot Liya’ (400 million views).

 46.
Market reaction and company strategy

 47.
Following the announcement, Saregama’s stock price rallied as much as 6.75% to reach ₹520 apiece and settled at a gain of 5.45% by mid-morning, vastly outperforming the broader market trend. This response comes as investors recognised the company’s push to cement its position as India’s leading entertainment IP company, particularly in regional segments where it had previously lacked dominance.

 48.
Industry leaders noted that the NAV Records catalogue is a major force in Haryanvi and Punjabi music, with its digital assets commanding significant reach and engagement. Saregama’s management announced plans to jointly develop new content with NAV Records, further expanding its influence in the regional music space.

 49.
Aggressive expansion

 50.
The NAV Records acquisition is part of Saregama’s broader strategy of expanding its music IP. In the current financial year, the company has acquired 22 music labels across seven languages, adding more than 2,800 songs to its portfolio. Company officials said that this most recent deal fills a crucial gap, making Saregama the dominant player across all Indian regional music genres.

 51.
Analyst outlook

 52.
Analysts tracking the stock maintain a positive view, with the majority issuing ‘buy’ recommendations and projecting further upside. Experts attribute this sentiment to both Saregama’s successful digital expansion and the scale of the NAV Records content library, which will deepen the company’s competitive moat in the online music and video streaming market.

 72.
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have advanced to the point where they can compose original melodies, harmonies, and even complete songs with remarkable proficiency. These systems, trained on vast datasets of existing musical works, allow users to create music, vocals, and instrumental arrangements without needing traditional musical training. As a result, AI is increasingly integrated into music production workflows, from helping independent artists master tracks automatically to generating background music for films, advertisements, and video games.

 73.
While AI-powered music tools offer exciting possibilities such as accelerating production, enabling new creative experimentation, and making professional-quality music more accessible, they are also causing unease among musicians about their livelihoods. Many artists worry that AI could replace jobs traditionally held by composers, session musicians, sound engineers and arrangers in areas such as background scores, jingles and film or commercial music where automation may reduce human involvement.

 74.
Researchers note that although AI does not fully replace the emotional depth and personal connection that human musicians bring to music, it may change the economic landscape significantly. Some side jobs for musicians such as transcribing music into sheet music or creating arrangement parts are increasingly susceptible to automation. Furthermore, as the demand for bespoke, emotionally resonant live performances remains strong, AI is not expected to replace live concerts and the human experience of music in the foreseeable future.

 75.
At the same time, proponents of AI in music emphasise its role as a creative aid rather than a substitute for human artistry. AI tools help musicians overcome creative blocks, explore new sounds and styles and focus more on the artistic side of music-making by automating technical tasks like mixing and mastering. New platforms powered by AI help artists reach audiences through social media microcultures instead of the traditional record company route.

 76.
However, critics warn that an overreliance on AI-generated music could lead to a homogenisation of sound making much of the music industry feel formulaic and less authentic. The emotional and cultural essence that comes from human experience still forms the core of meaningful music for many listeners.

 77.
The music industry now faces the challenge of integrating AI technology while preserving artists’ livelihoods and creativity. Legal and ethical issues around copyright ownership and the originality of AI-generated content remain unresolved. Despite these concerns, industry experts suggest that AI can democratise music production offering new opportunities for musicians willing to adapt and innovate with this technology.

Scheduled for a worldwide premiere on 14 August 2025, the film will debut in this premium format both in India and across several international markets, including North America, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

 97.
‘War 2’ is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra. It serves as the sixth instalment of the successful YRF Spy Universe, following the blockbuster ‘War’ from 2019. The cast features Hrithik Roshan reprising his role, joined by Jr. NTR in his Bollywood debut and Kiara Advani in a leading role. The film will be available in Hindi and Telugu, with dubbed versions in Tamil, further expanding its reach.

 98.
The film’s arrival in Dolby Cinema represents a landmark moment for Indian filmmaking, leveraging the immersive experience made possible by Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Audiences will benefit from ultra-vivid visuals and deeply immersive sound, heightening the impact of every sequence. In India, the initial Dolby Cinema venue is City Pride Multiplexes in Kharadi, Pune, with additional screens soon opening in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Trichy, Kochi, and Ulikkal.

 99.
This collaboration continues a longstanding tradition of technological innovation between Yash Raj Films and Dolby. Previous milestones in their partnership include YRF’s adoption of Dolby Audio for ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ in 1995 and introduction of Dolby Atmos with the blockbuster ‘Dhoom:3’ in 2013. More recently, YRF became the first Indian music label to offer Dolby Atmos Music with its ‘Best of YRF’ album in 2020.

 100.
Representatives from both Yash Raj Films and Dolby Laboratories have celebrated this development. Rohan Malhotra, Vice President of Distribution at Yash Raj Films, noted the company’s ongoing commitment to pushing cinematic boundaries and delivering unforgettable experiences. Michael Archer, Vice President of Worldwide Cinema Sales and Partner Management at Dolby, highlighted how the debut of ‘War 2’ in Dolby Cinema marks a significant leap forward for how stories are experienced in India.

 101.
With its high-octane storytelling, star power, and technical excellence, ‘War 2’ is poised not only to set new standards for Indian blockbusters but also to redefine premium moviegoing for audiences at home and abroad.

The rally came as the firm’s Q1 results reflected resilient profitability and optimistic management commentary, despite a challenging macroeconomic environment.

 151.
For the June quarter, Tata Technologies reported a consolidated net profit of ₹170.3 crore, marking a 5 per cent rise compared to ₹162 crore in the same period last year. However, on a sequential basis, net profit declined by nearly 10 per cent from ₹189 crore reported in the previous quarter. Revenue from operations in Q1 FY26 stood at ₹1,244.3 crore, representing a 2 per cent decrease year-on-year and a 3 per cent drop sequentially.

 152.
Despite the muted top-line growth, investor sentiment turned positive as the company’s management indicated a stronger outlook for the coming quarters. The CEO and Managing Director, Warren Harris, stated that client confidence grew steadily throughout the quarter and the deal pipeline was more robust than a year ago. The company secured six significant deals in Q1, with most being in the automotive and aerospace sectors.

 153.
The positive momentum was reflected in the firm’s share price, which climbed to an intraday high of ₹742 on the BSE, registering a gain of more than 4 per cent over the previous close. By late morning, shares were trading above ₹730 with steady volumes, outpacing the broader market’s performance.

 154.
Market experts attributed the share price gains to reassurances from top management regarding an anticipated sequential recovery in Q2 and a stronger second half of the financial year. The company’s EBITDA margin for the quarter stood at 16.1 per cent, and management reiterated their commitment to delivering sustainable value to stakeholders while driving efficiency and investing in strategic capabilities, particularly in digital and embedded systems.

 155.
Tata Technologies’ current share price remains well below its all-time high of ₹1,400, reached during its listing in November 2023. Nevertheless, the latest uptick signals a shift in near-term sentiment among investors, who are now looking for signs of consistent revival in revenue growth and business wins as the year progresses.

 156.
Analysts have noted that although revenue declines on both an annual and sequential basis warrant caution, the upbeat management guidance and robust deal pipeline have prompted some to review their short-term outlook for the stock.

In his annual message to shareholders, Jagdishan revealed that deposits grew at a pace 2.5 times faster than loans, marking a decisive shift in the bank’s funding strategy after its merger with parent company HDFC Ltd.

 176.
According to Jagdishan, this surge in deposits enabled the bank to reduce its credit-to-deposit ratio to 96 per cent by March 31, 2025, down from about 110 per cent at the time of the merger. The reduction reflects a deliberate effort by HDFC Bank to balance its funding sources and lessen dependency on high-cost borrowings, which now constitute 14 per cent of the overall funding compared to previous highs.

 177.
The bank captured 14.6 per cent of all new deposits mobilised in the Indian banking system during the last financial year, significantly outpacing its broader peer group. While HDFC Bank accounts for roughly 5 per cent of the nation’s bank branches, it now commands 11 per cent of the country’s total banking deposits.

 178.
Loan growth, on the other hand, was intentionally moderated to fortify the balance sheet following the merger. Advances rose by 5.4 per cent in FY25, whereas deposits jumped by 14.1 per cent over the same period. This cautious approach, according to Jagdishan, was chosen to strengthen fundamentals before focusing anew on an accelerated loan growth trajectory. The bank is now positioning itself to grow its loan book in line with industry averages in FY26, with ambitions to surpass system-wide growth in FY27.

 179.
Jagdishan stressed that the bank’s strategy has not relied on offering higher rates to attract deposits or loans. Instead, its focus has been on strategic execution and building sustainable financial strength. Maintaining high asset quality, even through volatile business cycles, continues to be a pillar of the bank’s approach.

 180.
The CEO described this phase as one of the most transformative for HDFC Bank, as the merger with HDFC Ltd has expanded cross-selling opportunities and deepened the group’s footprint across financial services, including life and general insurance, mutual funds, and brokerage.

 181.
The momentum in deposit mobilisation and prudent loan growth sets the stage for HDFC Bank to capitalise on emerging opportunities while maintaining its reputation for stability and low levels of bad loans.

The directive, issued on Monday, follows a preliminary investigation into last month’s tragic crash of Air India flight AI 171, operated with a Boeing 787-8, in Gujarat, which resulted in 260 fatalities.

 201.
The move requires airlines to check the locking mechanism of fuel control switches in Boeing 787 and 737 series aircraft and submit their inspection plans and completion reports to the DGCA and relevant regional offices. The fuel control switches are critical components that regulate the flow of fuel into an aircraft’s engines.

 202.
The measure comes in response to findings from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau’s (AAIB) interim report on the Air India crash, where it was revealed that fuel supply to both engines was cut off within seconds after take off, sparking confusion in the cockpit over the switch positions. The report stated the switches were in the ‘cutoff’ position; one pilot was reportedly heard questioning the other about who moved the switch, indicating possible procedural confusion rather than mechanical failure. No specific remedial action was recommended by the AAIB at this stage.

 203.
The DGCA stated that the order is in line with a 2018 Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin (SAIB) issued by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which had warned about the potential disengagement of the fuel control switch locking feature on multiple Boeing aircraft variants, including the 737 and 787 models. The FAA bulletin at the time was not an airworthiness directive, indicating it was not considered a broad safety threat, but recommended voluntary checks.

 204.
Both domestic and foreign carriers, such as Air India, Air India Express, Akasa Air, SpiceJet and global operators like Etihad, use affected Boeing models and have begun the mandated safety checks. Inspections are being carried out internationally as well, including by regulators in South Korea and the UAE.

 205.
The DGCA’s latest instructions emphasise that all affected airlines must ensure strict compliance with the inspection deadline to safeguard continued airworthiness and operational safety.

The talks come at a critical juncture, with trade officials from both countries under pressure to secure outcomes ahead of an August deadline for new tariffs and amidst mounting expectations from major export and industrial sectors.

 225.
Senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, led by chief negotiator Rajesh Agrawal, will be meeting their American counterparts to finalise the contours of what sources describe as both a potential interim “mini deal” and preparations for a more comprehensive free trade agreement later this year.

 226.
Key sticking points in the discussions continue to revolve around the US demand for greater market access in agriculture, dairy and automobile sectors, as well as calls for a reduction in tariffs on key American exports. India, meanwhile, seeks relief from planned reciprocal US tariffs on its exports, along with additional concessions for its labour-intensive sectors such as textiles, gems and jewellery, leather goods and chemicals.

 227.
Negotiators have signalled that while both sides are eager to avoid the reimposition of steep tariffs—particularly the 26 percent additional US duties which are set to take effect if no deal is reached—substantial differences remain over sensitive items, especially agricultural produce and dairy products. Protection of Indian farmers and the livelihoods of millions in the rural economy has emerged as a central concern, with New Delhi resisting pressure to open markets to American dairy and certain agricultural products. Cultural and religious sensitivities have also surfaced, with India refusing to allow imports of dairy products derived from cattle fed on non-vegetarian diets.

 228.
A phased approach is being pursued, with expectations that talks this week will enable both sides to announce an interim agreement covering less contentious sectors, including tariff relief for specific US industrial goods, and potentially higher Indian imports of American oil and defence equipment. A broader free trade agreement encompassing services, digital trade and expanded market access is scheduled to be negotiated in subsequent rounds, with the aim of doubling bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030.

 229.
Officials have described the current discussions as positive and constructive, with both countries committed to seeking mutually beneficial outcomes. However, the outcome remains uncertain, with India maintaining that no deal is preferable to a bad one that could endanger domestic industries and jobs.

 230.
The United States remains India’s largest trading partner, accounting for 18 percent of India’s overall exports and over $190 billion in annual bilateral trade. The next week’s outcome could have significant implications for exporters and consumers in both countries, as well as for the global trading environment.

The E10 will run on the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail (MAHSR) corridor, which spans 508 kilometres and incorporates Japanese Shinkansen technology renowned for its speed, safety, and reliability.

 250.
Officials clarified that there has been no delay in the project’s execution, with trials for the advanced E10 trains scheduled for 2026–27 as originally planned. This comes amid past concerns regarding the procurement of the preceding E5 Shinkansen model. The Railways Ministry emphasised that Japan’s commitment to the project represents deep technological and strategic collaboration.

 251.
Currently, Japan operates the E5 Shinkansen, and the E10 is set to replace it as the next generation, capable of even higher speeds and upgraded safety features. As part of preparations, India’s Integral Coach Factory in Chennai has also awarded a tender to state-run BEML Ltd to manufacture two high-speed trainsets modelled after Japanese bullet trains, with test speeds reaching up to 280 km/h.

 252.
Significant construction progress has been reported, with 310 km of viaduct already completed. Out of a planned 12 stations along the corridor, five are finished and another three are nearing completion. Efforts also include the completion of 15 river bridges and advanced work on four more. The highly anticipated undersea tunnel — a key feature between Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and Thane — recently achieved a milestone with the completion of its first 21-kilometre section.

 253.
The Ministry underscored that the project not only strengthens Indo-Japanese ties but also places India among select nations with cutting-edge high-speed rail infrastructure. The success of the MAHSR project is expected to pave the way for future bullet train corridors, further modernising India’s railway network.

The launch coincides with the opening of Tesla’s inaugural showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, making this the first Tesla car available in India.

 273.
The Model Y is being introduced as a completely built import and is offered in two variants for Indian buyers: the Standard Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive. The Standard RWD model costs Rs 59.89 lakh, while the Long Range RWD variant is priced at Rs 67.89 lakh. Both versions are expected to appeal to the premium segment, rivaling the likes of the BMW iX1 and BYD Sealion 7.

 274.
The Standard RWD Model Y offers a claimed range of up to 500 km (WLTP certified) on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds. The Long Range variant increases the range to an impressive 622 km and achieves 0 to 100 kph in 5.6 seconds. Regardless of model, both vehicles can reach a top speed of 201 kph.

 275.
Inside, the Model Y features a minimalist interior design, with either black or white upholstery. The dashboard is dominated by a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which manages nearly all vehicle functions, complemented by an 8-inch secondary screen for rear passengers. Additional highlights include a panoramic glass roof and premium features such as Tesla’s Autopilot driver assistance and over-the-air software updates. Customers can also opt for a full self-driving upgrade in the future at an additional cost.

 276.
All vehicles are currently being imported as completely built units, reflected in their higher price compared to international markets. The Model Y is reportedly shipped from Tesla’s Shanghai factory and is not being produced locally at this stage.

 277.
Bookings for the Tesla Model Y are now open, with the first Indian deliveries expected in late 2025. Initially, the car can be registered in major cities such as Delhi, Gurugram and Mumbai.
