37.

Yesterday I was trying to perform the Java upgrade to the Homepage database from 5.0 to 5.5 on a linux server. The command failed and whatever I tried, it kept on failing.

 38.
It seemed to interpret the jdbc url as a Java class and then threw an error it could not find it… obviously

 39.
The command I ran was taken from the technote the official documentation is pointing to

 40.
the command I tried to ran was:

 41.

jvm/linux/jre/bin/java -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -Xmx1024m -classpath /apps/ibm/data/DBT_HOME/db2jcc.jar:lib/news.migrate.jar:lib/news.core.data.jar:lib/lc.dbmigration.default.jar:lib/commons-logging-1.0.4.jar:com.ibm.lconn.news.migration.next60.RestoreStatusUpdateMigration jdbc:db2:/cnxdb1.dev.xxxx:50100/HOMEPAGE db2inst1somepassword production > java.out.log 2>&1

 42.
It failed with following error:

 43.

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: jdbc:db2:..cnxdb1.dev.xxxx:50100.HOMEPAGE
70.

To all HR departments, recruiters and small business owners out there. please respond to all job applications you receive.
71. People that apply for a new job are humans and deserve to be treated that way. A lot of them put a lot of energy in applying for a new job. They are out of a job and really need one to be able to pay the bills and raise their children, they are currently in a bad job and need the change, they have taken a day off for their interview, ….

 72.
Please treat those people with the respect they deserve. I recently witnessed what getting no answer can do to someone. Being rejected for a job itself is bad enough, not knowing the answer and being in this in between phase where you assume to be rejected but are secretly still hoping they will call or email you…. nerve wrecking.

 73.
There’s a couple of reasons why you need to reply as an employer.

 74.

 75.
It’s polite to do so, and not doing is bloody rude. It’s common courtesy

 76.
Being busy is not a good excuse, it means you are managing your time wrong or you are using the wrong tools

 77.
Legal reasons are not a good excuse either, you could easily create a standard neutral response template that leaves no risk at law suits

 78.
And last but not least, it puts your company in a bad position. It’s a small world after all, you might want to be looking for more staff later, or they could become customers or suppliers. The former rejected candidates will have a negative image of your company in your head

 79.
You could get negative reactions on social media that might hurt your reputation

 80.

 177.

Since our users upgraded to iOS 9.2.1 they are unable to open the newsletter links ‘Open in Mobile” on a 4.5 CR5 backend.

 178.
The pop-up you normally have, pops up for a milli-second then disappears again.

 179.
This seems to be due to a deprecated method IBM is using in the Mobile application code. The URL uses the older URL scheme redirect method (https://developer.apple.com/library/prerelease/ios/documentation/iPhone/Conceptual/iPhoneOSProgrammingGuide/Inter-AppCommunication/Inter-AppCommunication.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40007072-CH6-SW1)

 180.
Instead of this one

 181.

 182.
Thanks you to the customer mobile team to figure this out.

 183.
Working with IBM on a pmr, but my guess is they will not fix this for 4.5

 184.
!!!UPDATE!!!

 185.
IBM delivered a fix for this in 4.5, hurraaay, contact your support to get it

 208.

Thx SocialBiz User Group for the great content over the years and hosting a place to connect, contribute and network. But, life goes on so we need a new spot. This spot is called IBM Social Business User Community.

 209.
Our brand new spot on Developer works will allow us to continue to do the same as before. Our new home is based on IBM Connections on the Developer works site, so if you don’t have an account yet, sign up here.
210. Once you are signed up, click here to join the community

 211.
This site has recently had a complete makeover and has gotten a lot of attention from IBM, but is based on IBM Connections, so our favourite tools are available to do the same as before. IBM has done a great job getting a lot of content in there already, up to us to fill it up with our content. In the next couple of days I will be scanning the old SocialBiz site for my old content and move it over. Be quick because the site will close on February 22.

 257.

During a “simple” upgrade of IBM Content Navigator 2.0.3FP2 to FP5 one of my colleagues (Dave) ran into an error even before the installation started.
258. The error stated that the required version of ICN wasn’t installed on the current system.

 259.

 260.
After some googling he found the following technote: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21508741

 261.
The technote is not related to ICN but the installation of FP5 for ICN also uses the InstallAnywhere application so the .com.zerog.registry.xml should be available on the system as well.
262. The next step was to see if the file existed in /var or in home/ which was not the case. Fortunately we had another environment that was setup the same way (same OS, install paths, versions,…) where the file was available.
263. Finally he copied the file to the system and verified the file access for the user used to install all components of Connections.
