  684. <p><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/story/2022-12-09/grant-wahl-longtime-soccer-writer-dies-world-cup">According to the Los Angeles Times</a>, Wahl “collapsed in the media tribune at Friday’s Argentina-Netherlands World Cup game. Paramedics treated Wahl for approximately 30 minutes before removing him from the stadium on a stretcher. He was later pronounced dead Saturday morning at a Qatari hospital.”</p>

  790. <p>The Minnesota Vikings are a good team. They sit at 10-3 through 14 weeks this season. They’re going to win the NFC North and will wind up being one of the top seeds in the playoffs. They also might need a new defensive coordinator.</p>

  792. <p>There’s no denying that Mike Zimmer’s 2021 Minnesota Vikings defense was terrible. Despite what his coaches may have had to say at the time, that was a near-.500 team that had zero ability to control opposing offenses. The only difference for Kevin O’Connell’s squad is that they are well above .500.</p>
  793. <p>Coming into their matchup this weekend against the Detroit Lions, only their opponent was allowing more yards per game. At <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/opp.htm">398.7 yards per game</a>, Donatell’s unit edged out the Lions, avoiding last in the NFL by less than four yards per game. Although the pass rush can be formidable at times with edge rushers Danielle Hunter and Za’Darius Smith posing problems for opposing offenses, nothing else about the unit as a whole has been good.</p>

  795. <p>The defense has had more holes than stinky Swiss cheese, and it’s not helped by their injuries. Cam Dantzler spent time on the injured list, and fourth-round pick Akayleb Evans is now shut down with a concussion. </p>
  796. <p>However, the veteran leadership from Patrick Peterson and Chandon Sullivan hasn’t translated into any sort of stifled chances to the opposition. A lack of adjustments from the defensive coordinator has not helped.</p>
  797. <p>Despite their strong record at 10-3, the Vikings have teetered with a negative point differential for most of the season. The drubbing by the Dallas Cowboys put them in a terrible position, but the reality is that their wins are a byproduct of the offense overcoming the defensive struggles. </p>
  798. <p>Knowing that Minnesota will be facing substantial talent in the playoffs, it’s beyond concerning that the same man will be leading the defensive side into those matchups.</p>
  799. <p>The Lions put up nearly 500 yards of offense Sunday against Minnesota, and if head coach Kevin O’Connell isn’t going to have him into his office for a tongue lashing this week, then there’s nothing that will ever be done. Donatell, his schemes, and this defense have held the overall feel of this team back all year long and it burned them against a formidable offense in Week 14.</p>

The Filipino-American has been in the game for more than two decades, having fought in organisations across the world, and taking on some of the best fighters to have ever lived. Even at 45 years old, this would be a huge win for the Iranian.</span></p>
  841. <p><strong>A show of strength</strong></p>
  842. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">At six foot three inches tall and almost 120kg, Aliakbari is a mountain of a man – and to see him in action really is something else. His wrestling background gives him the ability to throw people around like ragdolls, with a level of strength that is hard to believe. Couple this with the ability to end fights quickly and you have a very entertaining fighter.</span></p>
  843. <p><strong>A chance to shine for Amir</strong></p>
  844. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The heavyweight division is in a state of flux at the moment, Anatoliy Malykhin holds the interim title, while champion Arjan Bhullar has been sidelined since April 2021, so the title scene and top of the division is somewhat clouded. Aliakbari would love to get revenge on Malykhin after a defeat in September last year, and a win on Saturday could be just what’s needed to get his name mentioned among the big guns.</span></p>

  846. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While this is a huge night for Aliakbari, it is also pivotal in the career of Vera. At 45 he could believe a win here gives him one more tilt at the title, while a defeat could see him leave his gloves in the cage at the end of the night. What happens on Saturday is unclear but you don’t want to miss another huge night in the life of the former ONE champion.</span></p>

  917. <p>For the first time since Week 5, the Minnesota Vikings will be involved in a divisional battle. A fourth straight win inside the division would seal the Vikings as division champs. All three previous wins came at home, and now they start the road games with a trip to Detroit to face the in-form Lions. </p>
  918. <p>Surprisingly, it is the team from Michigan who still have the chance to catch the Vikings. Albeit slim, they have to win all of their remaining games and rely on the Vikings losing all of theirs. The Lions are more realistically looking at a wildcard place. If they can continue their recent good form with a victory over Minnesota, they will give themselves a chance with four games to go, whereas defeat probably ends their chances.</p>

  925. <p>Dalvin Cook has had some enjoyable outings against the men from Detroit, including a 206 rushing yards game in 2020 and 96 yards and a touchdown earlier this season. I expect the Lions to go all out to try and stop the Vikings passing game. They will bring the pressure toward quarterback Kirk Cousins and try and shut down Justin Jefferson as they did in the reverse fixture.</p>
  926. <p>One way to counteract that is by establishing the run. A heavy dose of Dalvin Cook and plenty of backup from Alexander Mattison is the order of the day. Mattison himself has had plenty of success against the Lions in the past, including a touchdown earlier in the season. Success on the ground will go a long way to ensuring a Vikings victory.</p>

  929. <p>Back in Week 3, the Lions obsession with Jefferson left the game wide open for the rest of the offense. KJ Osborn had his best game of the season, and it was a good day for Adam Thielen. Thanks to Detroit, the Vikings have an extra weapon this time in the shape of tight end T.J. Hockenson. Following an injury to starting tight end Irv Smith, the Vikings made a surprise trade deadline day move for Hockenson.</p>
  930. <p>Smith had a disappointing day against the Lions; he did make a good diving catch. However, he only caught two of six targets and had a bad drop — not the only one he had at the beginning of the season. He had started to find some form when injury struck. There is a possibility Smith will return for the playoffs and add another offensive weapon to an already stacked group.</p>
  931. <p>Hockenson has slotted in seamlessly in Minnesota. He has 30 catches for 225 yards and a touchdown from his first 5 games, a greater production level than other tight ends have been producing in Minnesota for some time. He will assuredly be eager to produce a big game against the team that drafted him with the eighth overall pick (then decided to trade him away in his fourth year).</p>

  934. <p>Detroit possesses one of the best offensive lines in the league. Add in an abundance of playmakers, and it should then be no surprise that quarterback Jared Goff is enjoying somewhat of a resurgence. The Vikings defense will need to be able to breach that offensive line and get pressure on Goff. The obvious place to look is Danielle Hunter and Za’Darius Smith, but they will need help against this unit.</p>
  935. <p>Step forward, Patrick Jones. </p>
  936. <p>The second-year man is putting together an impressive sophomore season. He has three sacks and six tackles for loss, impressing in both pass-rush and run defense when he comes into the game. Defensive coordinator Ed Donatell singled him out earlier this week as having a bright future.</p>

  980. <p>With December upon us, the NFL season is entering its stretch run as we get set to make our NFL Week 13 predictions in 2022.</p>
  981. <p>As usual, there were multiple games that threw us for a loop last week and could give us second thoughts about our NFL picks for today. But we won’t let a little uncertainty keep us from making NFL picks straight up or even NFL picks against the spread.</p>
  982. <h2>NFL Week 13 predictions 2022</h2>

  986. <li><em>Commanders vs Giants</em></li>
  987. <li><em>Packers vs Bears</em></li>

  989. <li><em>Saints vs Buccaneers</em></li>

  991. <p>This week’s schedule includes six games between division rivals and six games between teams with a winning record, including a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game. Surely, that increases the challenge when making our NFL Week 13 predictions for 2022. But after closely examining all of this week’s games, we’re happy to share our NFL Week 13 picks.</p>

  994. <p>While the Jaguars are coming off a big win over the Ravens, the Lions have been trending in the right direction for several weeks. Our NFL picks for today reflect the fact that <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CampDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Dan Campbell</a> has his team playing hard despite giving up the most points in the league.</p>
  995. <p>The Lions won three straight games and then gave the Bills a lot of trouble on Thanksgiving. There’s no reason why that shouldn’t continue, especially with a few extra days of rest before this game.</p>
  996. <p>Meanwhile, the Jaguars have been dreadful on the road this season, which is something we took into account with our NFL Week 13 predictions in 2022.</p>
  997. <p><span class="ezoic-autoinsert-video ezoic-mid_content"/></p>
  998. <p>Jacksonville’s stunning win over the Chargers in Week 3 is the team’s only win away from home this season. They’re just 1-5 in road and neutral-site games this season, making them an unreliable team to pick, even in a toss-up game against the Lions.</p>

  1003. <h3>Commanders vs Giants</h3>
  1004. <p>With three losses in their last four games, the Giants are seeing their once-promising season unravel. They find themselves as home underdogs this week, which is actually a scenario that has suited them well this season.</p>

  1006. <p>They still have a bonafide star in <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BarkSa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Saquon Barkley</a> and usually get just enough from their defense, which has been enough to win some close games at home.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>
  1007. <p>Keep in mind that the Commanders aren’t exactly world-beaters. Granted, Washington has won six of its last seven games. But a shocking upset of the Eagles is the only win over a team with a winning record during that stretch.</p>
  1008. <p><a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HeinTa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Taylor Heinicke</a> has made the offense functional, although the Commanders have still scored less than 20 points in four of their last seven games. That’s not the type of team that makes us feel confident as a road favorite against a division rival.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></p>

  1014. <h3>Packers vs Bears</h3>
  1015. <p>As far as the Packers have fallen, they shouldn’t be losing to the Bears. They found some success on offense last week against the Eagles, scoring 33 points despite <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LoveJo03.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Jordan Love</a> replacing <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RodgAa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Aaron Rodgers</a> after he hurt his ribs.</p>
  1016. <p>The Bears have allowed at least 30 points in four of their last five games during their latest losing streak. That should allow the Green Bay offense to keep it going this week regardless of who’s at quarterback.</p>
  1017. <p><span class="ezoic-autoinsert-video ezoic-longest_content"/></p>
  1018. <p>Of course, the Bears have problems of their own after a 31-10 loss to the Jets. <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/F/FielJu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Justin Fields</a> was inactive last week due to a shoulder injury and now <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MoonDa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Darnell Mooney</a> has been ruled out for the season.</p>
  1019. <p>Even when Fields was healthy, his efforts weren’t enough to overcome a defense that’s conceding 25.4 points per game. Even if the Packers have plenty of questions to answer themselves, our NFL Week 13 picks are going against the Bears more so than in Green Bay’s favor. With the spread in this game being negligible, the Packers should be able to win and cover.</p>

  1026. <p>This seems like the perfect time for a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship Game. Cincinnati has won three in a row and five of the team’s last six games. Even without Ja’Marr Chase available, <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BurrJo01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Joe Burrow</a>’s NFL MVP odds seem to get better every week.</p>
  1027. <p>The Bengals are also poised for a strong finish with four of their last six games coming at home. Behind Burrow, the Bengals have averaged 34.7 points per game over their last three home games. The Cincinnati defense has also been better than people realize, so they won’t fear <a rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" href="https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MahoPa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-">Patrick Mahomes</a> and company.</p>
  1028. <p>Granted, Mahomes is still the MVP frontrunner. But the Chiefs continue to have plenty of flaws. They are average defensively and still don’t have a running game that consistently produces to take the pressure off Mahomes.</p>
  1029. <p>Against a team like the Bengals that can keep pace with them offensively, the Chiefs might have a hard time covering on the road, especially with four of their wins coming by three points or less. We’re taking a little bit of a chance here with our NFL Week 13 predictions in 2022, but we like the Bengals to spring the upset on Kansas City again.</p>

  1035. <h3>Saints vs Buccaneers</h3>
  1036. <p>The Buccaneers have been frustratingly unreliable this season. They are also the worst division leader in the NFL at 5-6. The Bucs have lost four of their last six games and are coming off a loss to the Browns.</p>
  1037. <p>However, Tampa still has a top-10 defense despite not having anyone close to the top in the NFL DPOY odds. At home on a Monday night, that defense should be enough to earn a comfortable win.</p>
  1038. <p>Keep in mind the Saints have been dreadful offensively lately. New Orleans was shut out last week and has scored 13 points or less in three of the last four games. Defensively, the Saints should be able to keep themselves in this game.</p>
  1039. <p>But this New Orleans offense doesn’t look like a good bet to do much against the Tampa defense, helping get the Bucs back to .500 on the season.</p>
