  34. In model checking, analysis algorithms are applied to large graphs

  37. languages. The <a href="http://fmt.cs.utwente.nl/tools/ltsmin/">LTSmin

  39. specifications, to check safety properties on-the-fly, to archive the
  40. resulting labelled transition systems (LTSs), and to minimize them
  41. with respect to (branching) bisimulation.

  77. <blockquote>
  78.  The semantics of modelling languages are not always specified in a
  79.  precise and formal way, and their rather complex underlying models
  80.  make it a non-trivial exercise to reuse them in newly developed
  81.  tools.  We report on experiments with a virtual machine-based
  82.  approach for state space generation.  The virtual machine's (VM)
  83.  byte-code language is straightforwardly implementable, facilitates
  84.  reuse and makes it an adequate target for translation of
  85.  higher-level languages like
  86.  the <a href="http://spinroot.com/">SPIN</a> model
  87.  checker's <a href="http://spinroot.com/spin/Man/">PROMELA</a>, or
  88.  even C.  As added value, it provides efficiently executable
  89.  operational semantics for modelling languages.  Several tools have
  90.  been built on top of the VM implementation we developed, to evaluate
  91.  the benefits of the proposed approach.
