2. Recently had an issue with an Oracle (11g) Scheduled Backup Job which had worked fine for a long time but started failing with the error "Initialization Error" when executing the RMAN script.

  72.

  73. Some Googling turned up a similar issue on an Oracle Community Forum (https://community.oracle.com/thread/1036886?db=5). As suggested in the post restarting the Oracle DB Console service fixed the issue without restarting the whole server.

  75. When using the Archive Now option in IBM Notes client it displays the error message "Entry Not Found in Index".

  76.

  77. This can be due to an archiving criteria which uses the selection "older than" and the mailfile contains documents without a valid creation date.

  78.

  79. This can be fixed by running a script to check for any such documents and remove then manually.

  80.

  81. Create a hotspot button and insert the code below (thanks to Alexander Bay) and send it to the user to run.

  82.

  83. ' Lotus Script send as button within a mail

  84.

  85. Dim s As New NotesSession
86. Dim viwApptUNID As NotesView
87. Dim docol As NotesDocumentCollection
88. Dim doc As NotesDocument
89.
90.
91. ' Set viwApptUNID
92. Set viwApptUNID = s.CurrentDatabase.GetView("$ApptUNID")
93. If viwApptUNID Is Nothing Then Msgbox "Cannot find view '$ApptUNID'"
94.
95. ' Set docol
96. Set docol = s.CurrentDatabase.CreateDocumentCollection
97.
98. ' Loop through all docs in view
99. Set doc = viwApptUNID.GetFirstDocument
100. While Not doc Is Nothing
101. If Instr(Join(Evaluate("@Text(@Created; S2)", doc)), "*") > 0 Then Call docol.AddDocument(doc) ' @Created is save here, Document.Created sometimes delivers a date valid formatted but containing crypted components
102. Set doc = viwApptUNID.GetNextDocument(doc)
103. Wend ' Not doc Is Nothing
104.
105. ' Handle result
106. If docol.Count > 0 Then
107. Call docol.PutAllInFolder("aaa_BAD_CreationDate")
108. ' Call docol.RemoveAll(true) ' Hard deletes all documents found. Used only in case the documents cannot be deleted through UI
109. Msgbox Cstr(docol.Count) & " damaged calendar entries found and moved to folder 'aaa_BAD_CreationDate'"
110. Else
111. Msgbox "No damaged calendar entries found."
112. End If

  113.

  114.

  115.

  116. If it finds a document (usually a calendar entry created from ical) then manually cut and paste to archive file. Now try to archive now again and it should complete.

  123.

  124. "The IBM Domino Server (CDominodata) service on Local Computer started and the stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

  125.

  126.

  127.

  128. No indication in console log but in the server data folder the Domino Controller log file (dcntrlrdcntrlrxxxxxxxxxxxx.out) it contains the error JVM_Bind.

  129.

  130.

  131.

  132. To fix add the lines below to the server Notes.ini:

  143.

  144.

  145.

  148. Domino 9.0.1 Feature Pack 8 enables moving views out of the database. This will make the NSF smaller and therefore can store more data before reaching limits.

  149.

  150.

  151.

  152. Set the following value in the server Notes.ini:

  163.

  164.

  165.

  166. Restart the server.

  167.

  168.

  169.

  170. Use "load compact -c -nifnsf on xx.nsf " to move the views out for existing databases.

  202. Some emails received via SMTP are not displaying the correct name in Outlook when synced with IBM Mail sync. The attachment name is displayed as "mime." missing the correct file extension.

  212. By default the IBM Mail sync client will only sync 30 days worth of email from your Domino mailbox. This can be changed to sync all of your mailbox by setting the server Notes.ini values below:

  213.

  214. NTS_PRIMESYNC_TIME_LIMITS_MAIL_ENABLED=false

  215.

  216. NTS_PRIMESYNC_TIME_LIMITS_CALENDAR_ENABLED=false

  217.

  218. For more information and values to sync a set amount of days look at the Knowledge Center article: http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSKTMJ_9.0.1/admin_imsmo/adm_controlling_mail_and_calendar_data_download.html#task_ngs_q44_yv

  221.

  222. If they have multiple devices connected to Traveler then it is neccessary to get the device ID for the affected device. To do this run the Domino server console command "tell traveler show <username>" to list their settings as below:

  326. After a Windows Update of one of our WSUS servers this week the WSUS service has started crashing.

  327.

  328. KB3159706 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3159706) seems to have caused the issue. Uninstalling the update (WUSA.exe /uninstall /kb:3159706) has fixed the issue.

  329.

  330. More information is on Lar Lohmann Blem's Blog here: http://larslohmann.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/wsus-server-crash.html

  332. Occasionally we get NSF files locked on clustered Domino servers and this results in an error like the one below when attempting to access them.

  333.

  334. Database Fixup: Unable to fixup database d:\Domino\data\mail\jayz.nsf: This database is currently in use by another person or process, and cannot be accessed at this time. In order to share a Notes database, it mvia a Domino Server by all users of the database.

  335.

  336. This looks like a non-Domino process has a lock on the file but is actually the Cluster Replicator causing the issue. Restarting the server clears the lock but if it cannot be restarted then using the Unlocker application can force the release of the file lock.

  337.

  338. 1. Install Unlocker (http://filehippo.com/download_unlocker/) on Domino server

  339.

  340. 2. Right click on NSF file in Windows epxlorer and select Unlocker

  341.

  342. 3. Select Unlock to force the release of file locks

  343.

  344. Try accessing file again.
