30. Domino 9.0.1 Feature Pack 8 enables moving views out of the database. This will make the NSF smaller and therefore can store more data before reaching limits.

 31.

 32.

 33.

 34. Set the following value in the server Notes.ini:

 35.

 36.

 37.

 38. NIFNSFEnable=1

 39.

 40. NIFBasePatch=F:\NIF (or leave out to create in Data folder)

 41.

 42. CREATE_R9_DATABASES=1

 43.

 44. CREATE_NIFNSF_DATABASES=1

 45.

 46.

 47.

 48. Restart the server.

 49.

 50.

 51.

 52. Use "load compact -c -nifnsf on xx.nsf " to move the views out for existing databases.

 84. Some emails received via SMTP are not displaying the correct name in Outlook when synced with IBM Mail sync. The attachment name is displayed as "mime." missing the correct file extension.

 94. By default the IBM Mail sync client will only sync 30 days worth of email from your Domino mailbox. This can be changed to sync all of your mailbox by setting the server Notes.ini values below:

 95.

 96. NTS_PRIMESYNC_TIME_LIMITS_MAIL_ENABLED=false

 97.

 98. NTS_PRIMESYNC_TIME_LIMITS_CALENDAR_ENABLED=false

 99.

 100. For more information and values to sync a set amount of days look at the Knowledge Center article: http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSKTMJ_9.0.1/admin_imsmo/adm_controlling_mail_and_calendar_data_download.html#task_ngs_q44_yv

 208. After a Windows Update of one of our WSUS servers this week the WSUS service has started crashing.

 209.

 210. KB3159706 (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3159706) seems to have caused the issue. Uninstalling the update (WUSA.exe /uninstall /kb:3159706) has fixed the issue.

 211.

 212. More information is on Lar Lohmann Blem's Blog here: http://larslohmann.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/wsus-server-crash.html

 214. Occasionally we get NSF files locked on clustered Domino servers and this results in an error like the one below when attempting to access them.

 215.

 216. Database Fixup: Unable to fixup database d:\Domino\data\mail\jayz.nsf: This database is currently in use by another person or process, and cannot be accessed at this time. In order to share a Notes database, it mvia a Domino Server by all users of the database.

 217.

 218. This looks like a non-Domino process has a lock on the file but is actually the Cluster Replicator causing the issue. Restarting the server clears the lock but if it cannot be restarted then using the Unlocker application can force the release of the file lock.

 219.

 220. 1. Install Unlocker (http://filehippo.com/download_unlocker/) on Domino server

 221.

 222. 2. Right click on NSF file in Windows epxlorer and select Unlocker

 228. One of the cool features of new smartphone are that some of them have integrated fingerprint sensors which can be used to secure the device. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 handset and this allows you to easily unlock the screen by swiping the home button.

 229.

 230. Unfortunately this unlocking method does not work with Traveler when a require device password policy is set. It results in the error message "Error: Sync is disable because of a device security poicy violation".

 231.

 232. I have logged a PMR with IBM SUpport and here is their response:

 233.

 234. We have the following statement from development regarding the fingerprint scan:

 235.

 236.

 237.

 238. "The reason for this is that Traveler supports the Android Operating system, not specific phones. The Android OS does not provide apis relating to figerprint s canners, which is why the fingerprint security is categorized as "unrestricted".

 239.

 240.

 241.

 242. When we initially tested this support, we found that even when "unrestricted" was specified, the Android OS was still reporting the device as non-compliant when the fingerprint scanner was enabled.

 243.

 244. After a lengthy correspondence with Samsung on t his issue, we found that they require that we set the minimum password length to 0 in our calls to the Android OS. We modified our code to set the minimum password length to 0 when the setting was "unrestricted" and at that point, the Samsung device reported compliant with the fingerprint scanner was enabled.

 245.

 246.

 247.

 248. Traveler will not have a specific setting for fingerprint or any other biometric u ntil the Android OS provides explicit support for it. The device passcode settings are direct passthrough to the Operating System. "

 249.

 250.

 251.

 252. Samsung modified the api (few months ago) and Marshmallow Android offers new APIs to let authenticate users by using their fingerprint http://developer.android.com/about/versions/marshmallow/android-6.0.html

 253.

 254.

 255.

 256. In light of this we created Enhancement request for them to be added (this is internal, so you won't be able to open it but I'm posting it so it's present in the text of the PMR and others would be able to see it):

 259.

 260. Hopefully a new version will be release soon to provide the functionality.
