31. Social media such as Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and LinkedIn shape everyday life. Depending on age and peer group, this or that social network is used. But in principle, social networks have become an integral part of everyday life. What is normal in everyday life is also expected in everyday working life. Social business solutions make workplaces attractive for innovative employees and at the same time secure the flow of information within organisations.
32. With IBM Connections, the University of Zurich provides its members with a platform that facilitates cooperation. The slides of the presentations are available in German.

 50.
You can edit your own files as well as community files in the app. In Connections, click on the pen to edit files in IBM Editor.

 51.

 52.

 53.
You can also synchronize files on your mobile devices and edit them offline. All you have to do is open a file in the preview and click on the download option. You are offered to synchronize the file to your device. No more is necessary to have the files available offline. Once downloaded, the synchronized files can be found in the Connections app via the More menu and after Sync > option. While offline, you can edit your documents or annotate PDF documents using IBM Editor. Once online again, reopen the saved document with IBM Editor and save them. IBM Connections will automatically prompt you to upload the new version and ask you to comment on the changes. I highly recommend to briefly describe the changes. This also helps other people who have access to the file to get a quick overview of the different versions.

 54.
Another note on PDF documents: neither in your web browser nor in IBM Editor annotations in PDF documents are displayed by default. If you are working with your browser, you have to download the file and open it in a local PDF reader (also on your PC) in order to see the annotations. On your mobile device you have to open your document with IBM Editor and then must enable the “Show Annotations” option.

 55.

 56.

 57.
If you are using an iOS device with iOS 11, you can access Connections files also with the iOS Files App after Connections has been configured and opened. In iOS Files the storage location “Connections” has to be added to you Locations.

 58.

 59.
The integration into iOS works perfectly, including the annotation of PDF documents while online and searching files from folders or communites. To edit the documents or while offlie, however, IBM Editor launched from the IBM Connections App must be used.
60. At the moment it is also not possible to access offline documents via files. Dare to venture into these new possibilities!

 90.

As in previous years, the IBM Connect User Group (ICON) Switzerland Meeting will take place on 13 September 2017 at 15:00 at the University of Zurich (KOL-F-104). Those who have seen 2012 Mat Newmann’s presentation on Notes will surely remember his yellow suit. At that time the color of Notes.

 91.
Jason Roy Gary (Director of Software Development and IBM Distinguished Engineer with IBM’s Collaboration Solutions) has held the future plans for IBM Connections Pink at IBM Connect 2017 in a pink suit. And his presentations evoke memories of Mat Newmann. We are extremely pleased that we were able to win him over as a speaker for this event. We are also delighted to welcome Uffe Sörensen (Social Collaboration Director – Europe, Middle-East & Africa, IBM Denmark) and Jonathan Muniz (Offering Manager IBM Collaboration Solutions).

 92.
Jason Roy Gary will present IBM’s future plans for Connections. For him as for IBM, Connections Pink is not just the next version of Connections. Connections Pink is a journey. This becomes understandable when you have heard what should happen in the base of connections in the future. IBM solutions such as Websphere or DB2 will no longer be the basis of Connections. Solutions such as MongoDB, React. js, Ngnx and Docker will form the basis. This of course means that code needs to be rewritten and the switch to new technologies will not happen overnight. IBM wants to become more agile and move away from releases to continuous delivery.

 93.
Uffe Sörensen and Jonathan Muniz will provide us with news and updates from the Domino/Notes environment. IBM Verse, the new web interface with offline functions from IBM for Domino/Notes, will certainly not be missing.

 94.
After the lectures, all speakers will ask questions from the audience.

 95.
Please register for the event directly on the organizers’ website. There you will also find the detailed agenda.

 117.
As last year, the trip to the Engage.ug paid off. How the journey continues with Connections PINK was explained in an impressive manner and Jason Gary has shown very transparently, where the difficulties in the implementation of the cloud and on premises solution lie. Also regarding IBM Verse and IBM Verse on premises, Scott Souder was very open and transparent in the presentation and at a round table discussion. Here it would take somewhat longer, until the real offer in the cloud and on premises is the same. Without doubt, missing features will still be available on premises. Sandra and I were pleased about the interest in our contribution.

 211.

Welcome! This post describes how to enable wordpress 3.x for multiple domains and allow each site to enable subdirecroty blogs using the network multisite option.

 212.
Each domain will use a different table_prefix as described by Richard. But using a diffent approach to dynamically select table_prefix. You must be able to point your domain or subdomain to your wordpress installation directory.

 213.

 214.

 215.

 216.
Install WordPress

 217.
Enable multisite option in wp-config.php

 218.
Before setting up your first site, ad following lines in wp-config.php to ensure each domain uses a different table prefix.
219. In wp_config.php look for

 220.

$table_prefix = ‘wp_’;

 221.
and add follwoing lines after $table_prefix = ‘wp_’;

 222.

$table_prefix = ‘wp_’;
223. if ($_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST’]) {
224. $http_hs=explode(“.”,strtolower($_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST’]));
225. $table_prefix = $http_hs[count($http_hs) – 2].’_’;
226. $table_prefix = str_replace(“-”, “_”,$table_prefix);
227. }

 228.

 229.
Now, create your first blog in the first domain you want to use.

 230.
Next, enable the WP3 Network for subdirectories. This allows WP3 to split the content. Follow the instructions given for .htaccess and wp-config.php.

 231.
Before log in next time to your first domain blog, change wp-config.php, Replace
232.

define( ‘MULTISITE’, true );
233. define( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, false );
234. $base = ‘/’;
235. define( ‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘<domain>’ );
236. define( ‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’ );
237. define( ‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );
238. define( ‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );

 239.
with

 240.

switch ($_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST’]) {
241. case “<domain>”:
242. define( ‘MULTISITE’, true );
243. define( ‘SUBDOMAIN_INSTALL’, false );
244. $base = ‘/’;
245. define( ‘DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE’, $_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST’] );
246. define( ‘PATH_CURRENT_SITE’, ‘/’ );
247. define( ‘SITE_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );
248. define( ‘BLOG_ID_CURRENT_SITE’, 1 );
249. break;
250. default:
251. ;
252. break;
253. }

 254.
This allows to control which domain should use the network configuration of wordpress

 255.
Next, you must ensure that all domains use different upload directory paths. WordPress ensures this for all subdirectory blogs except the first blog you created. Login in to your domain blog, in SuperAdmin select your first blog and edit your configuration. For the blog with ID 1 change the upload path from
256.

Upload Path: wp-content/files

 257.
to

 258.

Upload Path: wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files

 259.

 260.
That’s it, your are fine for your first domain!

 261.
Now, create the blog for your next domain and again enable Network for Subdirectories.

 262.
Logout from your <domain2> and modify your wp-config.php. Change
263.

switch ($_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST’]) {
264. case “<domain>”:

 265.
to

 266.

switch ($_SERVER[‘HTTP_HOST’]) {
267. case “<domain>”:
268. case “<domain2>”:

 269.
This allows your domain to use subdirectories and automatically split the content of the blogs also for this subdomain.

 270.
Login to your <domain2> blog and modify again the upload path option for the first blog (blogid 1):
271.

Upload Path: wp-content/blogs.dir/101/files

 272.
Choose for the subdirectory a number as high as you expect never to reach for subdirectory blogs in your first domain!

 273.
Next, you need to ensure that blogs created in your new domain use automatically a directory path which is different from the previos domain path directorys. To ensure that, login to your mysql database and insert a row in the table <domain_prefix>_blogs where blog-id is, in this case, 101. Remove the row again. Next entry to the row will have the id 102, files will be placed in a separate directory by default for the next blog you create.

 274.
Now create your first site in your domain, which will automatically have id=102.

 275.
Repeat steps 9-13 for all domains you will use.

 276.

 277.
