23.

 24.

 25.
A tough early schedule won’t sink Baltimore’s season.

 26.
No doubt, Baltimore has a challenging early schedule facing the Chiefs, Cowboys, Bills and Bengals during the first five weeks.

 27.
Some pundits believe the Ravens will be 2-3, or worse, after five games. However, don’t bet against their ability to start fast again under Head Coach John Harbaugh, who has a 35-18 record in September during his16 seasons.

 28.
Seeing those NFL heavyweights early on the schedule doesn’t intimidate the Ravens. It will serve as motivation in the locker room and on the practice field, and should bring out quality football.

 29.
Meanwhile, even if the Ravens drop a few games early, it won’t ruin their season. They started 3-2 last season but finished 13-4 with the best record in the AFC. There’s no reason to panic about facing strong opponents off the bat.

 30.
The Week 14 bye will help the Ravens finish stronger.

 31.
Derrick Henry has rushed for more than 200 yards in a game six times, and four of those games have been in either December or January.

 32.
Henry does some of his best work late in the season, pounding his way to daylight against defenses suffering from late-[add]season fatigue. Having a late bye is going to present a challenge for Baltimore, because players who get banged up early in the season will have a long wait for a week off.

 33.
However, the Ravens can withstand injuries better than most teams because of their deep roster. The Week 14 bye will give players a chance to refresh before the final four games against the Giants, Steelers, Texans and Browns. And if Henry is healthy, he’ll be a hammer the Ravens can use to drive them to a strong finish. I expect the Ravens to go no worse than 3-1 after their bye and won’t be surprised if they go 4-0.

 39.
The very first time teams trot out of the locker room this entire season will immediately be one of the most significant contests of the whole year. The Ravens and Chiefs each face turnover at several notable positions but return the crux of their AFC Championship rosters from a year ago — most notably, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Even if it’s only Week 1, this game has a strong chance of creating a playoff tiebreaker for a top-three seed in the AFC. Interestingly, this will be just the third matchup between the two AFC powerhouses since 2021, so savor it while you can.

 40.
BALTIMORE RAVENS AT HOUSTON TEXANS (WEEK 17)

 41.
It’s easy to pity DeMeco Ryans’ bunch for two straight games against two of the best teams in the AFC, but this will also be tremendous theater. Lamar Jackson against Stroud provides a glimpse into two of the premier playmakers in the sport and a great chess match between the sage John Harbaugh and an up-and-comer in Ryans. Having this game — which might determine the AFC’s No. 2 seed — on Christmas is as good of a present as fans could ask for.

 46.
2. Week 17 at Houston Texans

 47.
In the 16 months since hiring DeMeco Ryans as head coach and drafting quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Texans have gone from plucky underdogs to Super Bowl sleepers. If Diggs recaptures some of his old magic alongside wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell, Houston should have one of the NFL’s most dynamic passing attacks. With better health along the offensive line and in the secondary, and another year of development from defensive end Will Anderson Jr. and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., the Texans could challenge for AFC supremacy. Adding defensive linemen Danielle Hunter and Denico Autry in free agency can’t hurt. The Ravens won last year’s much-hyped Christmas Day battle against the San Francisco 49ers, and this test could be just as stiff.

 48.
1. Week 1 at Kansas City Chiefs

 49.
The king stays the king. Defensive tackle Chris Jones called the Ravens the NFL’s best team, but he said that as the Chiefs celebrated a second straight Super Bowl title in February. The path to a three-peat will start against the Ravens in the NFL’s season opener. Coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce usually find a way to give the Ravens headaches, and Kansas City’s receiving corps should challenge their talented secondary, even if wideout Rashee Rice is unavailable because of a suspension. The Chiefs’ defense could take a step back with the departure of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, but coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s schemes will test Jackson and the Ravens’ Week 1 readiness — not to mention their willingness to run the ball.

 50.

 51.
Ravens 2024 schedule: Ranking all 17 games from easiest (Broncos) to hardest (Chiefs)

 52.
Brian Wacker, The Baltimore Sun

 53.

 54.
Week 3 at Dallas Cowboys

 55.
A trip to Arlington, Texas, comes at a difficult time for the Ravens with games against the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals sandwiched around it in a brutal start to the season.

 56.
It also marks the first time Jackson and three-time Pro Bowl quarterback and 2023 passing touchdowns leader Dak Prescott will face off. The last time these teams played — a 34-17 Ravens victory in 2020 — Prescott missed the game because of a season-ending ankle injury.

 57.
Last year, Dallas went 12-5 and was the No. 2 seed in the NFC. But the Cowboys, who had one of the top offenses and defenses in the league, laid an egg in the postseason, falling behind by 32 points and losing at home to the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers, 48-32, in a wild-card game.

 58.
The Cowboys have been much maligned for their lack of moves in free agency this offseason, but they’re still potent enough to stress the Ravens on both sides of the ball.

 59.
Week 13 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

 60.
Jackson vs. two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Jalen Hurts. Ravens running back Derrick Henry vs. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. Ravens coach John Harbaugh vs. the organization where he launched his NFL career as a special teams coordinator.

 61.
Though the Ravens have won three of their past four against their I-95 neighbors, each of those wins have been by two points or fewer. Baltimore won the most recent encounter, 30-28 in 2020 at M&T Bank Stadium, after the Eagles staged a furious rally with 22 fourth-quarter points but came up short on quarterback Carson Wentz’s 2-point conversion try with 1:55 remaining.

 62.
This one figures to be just as close with the Eagles expected to bounce back from a season in which they started 10-1 only to lose five of their next six games before getting bounced from the playoffs by the Buccaneers in the wild-card round. Baltimore will also be coming off a short week after what will be a much-hyped Monday night game against the Chargers.

 83.
 84.
The Ravens schedule has released and with it comes their matchups

While we already knew the 2024 opponents for the Baltimore Ravens, we now know when they’ll face one another with the schedule releasing on Wednesday. It’s set to be another big season for Baltimore as they hope to conquer the regular season once more and get to the all-important postseason and conquer their demons.

 85.
But to do so, they need to get back into the dance against what is expected to be one of the hardest schedules in football. This time, they are slated to face 10 (!) teams who made the playoffs the year prior. So, let’s reflect on their last victories over their scheduled opponents, albeit some are more pleasant than trips through memory lane.

 86.
Pittsburgh Steelers

 87.
Last Win: December 11, 2022

 88.
This may be the most frustrating one so let’s get it over with. The Ravens’ last win over the Steelers came in Week 14 of the 2022 season. It was the J.K. Dobbins return game, where after battling through injury for more than a year and undergoing a midseason knee scope, Dobbins stepped onto the field and bullied the Steelers in their house for 120 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

 89.
The game featured four different quarterbacks; Kenny Pickett suffered a concussion after being sacked on the first drive, forcing the Steelers to play backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Tyler Huntley, who made the start due to Lamar Jackson being inactive, suffered a concussion later in the game, forcing third-string quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. to step in. His first NFL snap came backed up on the Ravens’ 1-yard line. Shockingly, the Ravens called a pass play and Brown delivered a three-yard dart to wide receiver Demarcus Robinson.

 90.
An impressive defensive effort from the Ravens held off the Steelers to win, 16-14.

 91.

 92.

 93.
Welcome back J.K. Dobbins.

Big 44-yard run is his longest of the season.

On the very next play he punches it in from 4 yards out for his first TD since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

That has to feel great for him #Ravens #RavensFlock
pic.twitter.com/1SIIJeXPz7
— Rocco DiSangro (@RoccoDiSangro) December 11, 2022

 98.
Cleveland Browns

 99.
Last Win: October 1, 2023

 100.
Last season, the Browns threw rookie quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the wolves in Week 4. The talk of the early season filled with the Browns defense handling business against the Bengals and Titans, allowing a total of six points in those two games. The team was 2-1, due to the Steelers beating them 26-22, but 14 of those points came from defensive touchdowns from the Steelers. Ravens defenders weren’t happy to hear all the praise of the Browns defense and took it out on DTR and the Browns offense.

 101.
Safety Kyle Hamilton, Geno Stone and Brandon Stephens all intercepted Thompson-Robinson. They totaled 11 passes defensed, 10 tackles for loss, eight quarterback hits and three sacks. It was an all-out assault.

 102.
Being gifted plenty of short fields, the Ravens trounced the Browns, 28-3, with Jackson scoring on the ground twice and connecting with Mark Andrews twice.

 112.
On Thursday night primetime, the Ravens swept the Bengals. This game turned into the controversy over Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who was spotted with a cast of some kind on his hand prior to the game but went unreported. Burrow left the field with just under six minutes remaining in the second quarter and never returned. The Ravens would roll to their eighth win of the season behind a two-touchdown affair from running back Gus Edwards, who scored rushing touchdown No. 10 on the season, and two passing touchdowns from Jackson.

 116.
Their last win, however, was Jackson’s second career NFL start, a game filled to the brim with highlights. Cyrus Jones returned a punt for a 70-yard touchdown. Jackson threw his second career touchdown pass, this one to former Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Matt Judon racked up three sacks on three straight defensive plays and Terrell Suggs scored his first and only fumble recovery touchdown of his career on a 43-yard scoop-and-score to ice the game, 34-17.

Jackson blistered the Football Team defense on a 50-yard rushing touchdown, before connecting with Andrews on two separate 20+ yard touchdown passes. 182.
Two weeks after the Ravens’ win over the Football team, they defeated the Eagles in their barn, too. It was a bit more of a dramatic win, however, as the Ravens offense dried up in the fourth quarter, leading to back-to-back Justin Tucker field goals. The Eagles, down 30-14, scored on their next drive. With 3:48 left, the Ravens needed a couple first downs to ice the game. Instead, the Ravens faltered, going three-and-out.

 183.
On the Eagles’ first play, Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters was whistled for a 49-yard defensive pass interference penalty. Four plays later, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz dove into the end zone.

It was a long time coming as they’d lost four straight to the Chiefs and three straight in the Patrick Mahomes -Lamar Jackson era.

 195.
The game was an all-out duel between both quarterbacks and showcased their different styles. Mahomes threw for 343 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Jackson threw for 239 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, but added 107 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

 196.
Talk of this game was pointed with criticism of Jackson being unable to beat the Chiefs and incapable of overcoming 10-point deficits. Both demons were exorcised by the game’s end.

 214.
To begin the fourth quarter, Jackson would find the end zone on a two-yard touchdown but was intercepted on the two-point attempt. Down five, the Ravens defense held the Chiefs offense just enough to force a punt, which was shanked by Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend.

 215.
A 15-play, 7-minute, 58-second drive ensued, featuring 11 rush attempts, finished with a one-yard rush by Jackson to take the one-point lead. Again, their two-point attempt failed, and more than three minutes remained for the all-to-expected Mahomes comeback.

 216.
That comeback was well on its way when Mahomes got the ball. The Chiefs advanced 43 yards in three passing plays. But on 2nd & 3, Mahomes handed the ball to running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who lost the ball a second later as rookie outside linebacker Odafe Oweh punched it loose and dove atop the pigskin for the recovery. Oweh had been drafted by the Ravens with the Chiefs’ first-round pick in a trade that sent offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to Kansas City. And it was Brown who Oweh sped past to make the game-winning takeaway.

 227.
In their most recent meeting, the Ravens came out on top over the Chargers. The game had no real business being a 20-10 final score, seeing as the Ravens defense forced four takeaways, three punts and two turnover on downs, but they handled their business. The Chargers’ stars all struggled hanging onto the ball as quarterback Justin Herbert, running back Austin Ekeler and wide receiver Keenan Allen all fumbled the football. Thankfully, the Ravens hung onto the lead tighter than the Chargers did the ball, with a 13-10 lead with under two minutes remaining. That lead jumped to 10 points as wide receiver Zay Flowers was handed a jet sweep off the left side and sprinted 37 yards to the end zone. A few members of the defense weren’t all too thrilled he didn’t go down to ice the game. Namely, Defensive Coordinator Mike Macdonald, who was asked about the viral touchdown celebrations a few days later.

 238.
Yet again on this list, the Ravens won their most recent game against the Cowboys. At home in primetime, the Ravens faced one of the infamous “Ravenkillers” as Cowboys backup quarterback Andy Dalton took the field. But his voodoo wasn’t enough as Jackson managed two touchdown passes on 12 completions for 107 yards, along with 94 rushing yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. The Ravens ran the ball all night, with 37 attempts for 294 yards and two touchdowns. Jackson, Edwards and Dobbins all rushed for 70+ yards. The Ravens bullied the Cowboys defense en route to a 34-17 win.

 239.
Houston Texans

 240.
Last Win: January 20, 2024

 241.
The most recent win over the Texans came in the AFC Divisional round back earlier this year.

 242.
At halftime, the Ravens and Texans were deadlocked at 10-10. The Ravens’ offense could hardly muster any progress as Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans was sending the blitz.

 243.
The Ravens went into the locker room and Jackson gave a halftime speech featuring “a lot of cursing,” he said.

 244.
They proceeded to march downfield on all four of their second-half drives, the first three ending in touchdowns. Jackson and Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken solved the blitz and it was over, 34-10.

 245.

 246.

 247.
Lamar Jackson faced a career-high 75.0% blitz rate, completing 13 of 18 passes against the blitz for 120 yards & 2 TD.

Jackson got rid of the ball more than a second quicker vs the blitz in the 2nd half (2.25 seconds) compared to the first half (3.51).#HOUvsBAL | #RavensFlock pic.twitter.com/j49zz4jjEr
— Next Gen Stats (@NextGenStats) January 21, 2024

 252.
New York Giants

 253.
Last Win: December 27, 2020

 254.
In their most-recent outing, the Ravens suffered one of their ugliest losses by way of self-inflicted mistakes. The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec called it “a clinic on how to give away a game you had no business losing.” So, let’s instead talk about the game they did win, two years prior.

 255.
In 2020, the Ravens cruised over the Giants. Jackson nearly did no wrong, going 17-for-26 for 183 yards, two touchdowns and another 80 yards rushing on 13 carries. His lone error being a bad exchange between him and Edwards, resulting in a lost fumble with the game already over. An all-too-easy 27-13 win.

 256.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

 257.
Last Win: October 27, 2022

 258.
Again, the most recent game between these two clubs is a Ravens win. In fact, the Ravens have a five-game win streak over the Buccaneers. The last time the Ravens lost to the Bucs was in 2002, with Chris Redman as their quarterback.

 259.
Regarding their most recent win, though, was a most peculiar game.

 260.
The Ravens were facing one of the NFL’s worst rushing defenses. The Ravens were the No. 1 rushing team and just come off a win that featured 44 rushing attempts to 16 passing attempts. It was expected they’d do the same to Tampa Bay, as they’d bullied the far superior Browns defense doing so.

 261.
Instead, the Ravens ran the ball just seven times in the first half. They threw the ball 30 times. According to Harbaugh, it was their gameplan.

 262.
“That was the plan; we had a plan going in in terms of how we were going to try to approach this game. It really laid out exactly how we had anticipated, in terms of what we called, when we called it in terms of the run-pass ratio,” Harbaugh said. “I thought we’d do a little bit better than three points; we all thought we’d score a little bit more than three, but their defense is tough, and we couldn’t get going with first downs and getting drives extended, but that was how we planned on doing it.”

 263.
To make things worse, both Andrews and wide receiver Rashod Bateman left with injury. The first half was all ugly, with the offense at one point facing a 3rd & 36 and Tucker having a field goal blocked.

 264.
But in the second half, the Ravens rolled over the Tom Brady-led Bucs. Lamar Jackson was surgical. He was perfect. Eight attempts, eight completions, 94 yards, two touchdown passes.

 265.
The Ravens left Raymond James Stadium with a 27-22 win.

 266.

 267.

 268.
Lamar Jackson completed all 8 of his passes in the second half to lead the Ravens to a comeback win.

Jackson completed +27.8% of his passes over expected in the second half, his highest CPOE in a half since Week 12, 2019.#BALvsTB | Powered by @awscloud pic.twitter.com/bhcqH33MYs
— Next Gen Stats (@NextGenStats) October 28, 2022

 291.
 292.
Detailing how many ex-players the Ravens will face this fall and when following the official schedule release.

The Baltimore Ravens have had a litany of starters and key depth pieces poached in free agency over the past decade and are slated to play against more than two dozen of them this fall. With the 2024 schedule officially released, they now know exactly when each reunion will take place.

 293.
They will face one or more former players who spent time with the franchise and appeared in games at one point in their respective careers in 15 of their 17 games in the 2024 regular season. They could see some non-divisional opponents more than once taking into account potential playoff rematches.

 294.

 295.
Kansas City Chiefs: Week 1

 296.
When the Ravens hit the road to open the season against the two-time defending champions, they will be going against former first-round wide receiver Marquise Brown for the second year in a row. Originally drafted No. 25 overall in 2019 out of Oklahoma, the fifth-year veteran spent the first three years of his career in Baltimore where he requested and was granted a trade following his best season to date in which he recorded career highs in targets (146), receptions (91) and receiving yards (1,008).

 297.
The Ravens used the first-round pick they got in return for Brown from the Arizona Cardinals to select 2023 Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum. He is now on his third team when he faced his initial team for the first time in a different uniform in Week 8 of last season, Brown caught 6-of-9 targets and a touchdown but was held to just 33 receiving yards.

 298.
Las Vegas Raiders: Week 2

 299.
Assuming he makes the roster and potential injuries occur to the players slated to be ahead of him on the depth chart, the Ravens could be facing third-year quarterback Anthony Brown Jr. for the first time when the Raiders come to town for a Sunday afternoon AFC conference bout. After going undrafted out of Oregon in 2022, he signed with the Ravens and spent most of his rookie season on the practice squad but was elevated three times although he only saw action in two games including his first career start in an inconsequential regular-season finale loss the Bengals.

 300.
Dallas Cowboys: Week 3

 301.
When the Ravens travel to the Lone Star state for the first time in the 2024 season, they will potentially be facing off with nine-year veteran defensive tackle Carl Davis, assuming he makes the roster. Originally drafted by the team in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Iowa, Davis spent the first three years of his career in Baltimore where he appeared in 28 games and made 12 starts between the 2015 and 2017 seasons combined. Since then, he has been a journeyman who now finds himself on the sixth team of his career.

 302.
Buffalo Bills: Week 4

 303.
Assuming he makes the roster and potentially wins the starting returner job, the Ravens will be facing veteran wide receiver Andy Isabella in primetime for the first time since his brief stint on the team’s practice squad and being elevated twice for regular season 2022.

 304.
Cincinnati Bengals: Weeks 5 and 10

 305.
When the Ravens host and visit their division foes they will be facing off with a pair of players who were vital to the team’s success on both sides of the ball during their time in Baltimore. Before defecting across enemy lines this offseason, four-year veteran safety Geno Stone worked his way up the depth chart as a seventh-round pick in 2020 out of Iowa to becoming a key rotational depth piece and finally breaking out last season in which he led the AFC with seven interceptions.

 306.
Six-year veteran offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. was originally drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma and blossomed into a perennial Pro Bowler and gone against them three times since being traded during the 2021 offseason. The Bengals got swept by the Ravens in his first year with the team in 2023 and as a member of the Chiefs in 2021, he was on the losing end of a Week 2 thriller in his return to Baltimore.

 307.
Washington Commanders: Week 6

 308.
When the Ravens host the team from the nation’s capitol in a regular season edition of the Battle of the Beltway, they will be going against Pro Bowl long snapper Tyler Ott who appeared in every game for them in 2023. The nine-year veteran more than admirably filled in for Nick Moore last year after he suffered a torn Achilles at the onset of training camp. Assuming he makes the roster, it will also mark the first time the Ravens will face second-year cornerback Kyu Blu Kelly who they drafted in the fifth round out of Stanford last year but didn’t make the final roster. He is already on his fourth team after spending the first half of his rookie season with the Seattle Seahawks followed by a short four-week stint with the Green Bay Packers and ended the season on the Commanders roster.

 309.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Week 7

 310.
When the Ravens travel down to the Sunshine State for this interconference battle of 2023 playoff teams and division winners, they will be playing against interior offensive lineman Ben Bredeson, who is projected to be the Buccaneers’ starting left guard. Bredeson was originally drafted by the Ravens in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Michigan but played just one season in Baltimore before being traded to the New York Giants ahead of the 2021 season. This will mark his second time facing off against his former team with the first coming with the Giants in 2022 when he actually got the better of them in a 24-20 win in Week 6.

 311.
Cleveland Browns: Weeks 8 and 18

 312.
When the Ravens host and visit their division rivals they could be going up against as many as three of their former players assuming both quarterback Tyler Huntley and wide receiver James Proche make the roster despite being in crowded position groups. Three-time Pro Bowl edge defender Za’Darius Smith is a lock to make the team as a full-time starter and the other half of a deadly pass rush tandem with reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett. Last year was his first in Cleveland and the two teams split with the Ravens winning the first handedly and the Browns coming out on top in the second. After spending his first four years in the league with the Ravens after being taken in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Kentucky, he spent the next three as a member of the Green Bay Packers from 2019 to 2021 but didn’t play in the Week 15 interconference matchup in 2021 that his original team narrowly lost.

 313.
Huntley and Proche both came into the league in 202O as an undrafted free agent out of Utah and sixth-round pick out of SMU respectively. While Proche’s tenure with the team was littered with more lowlights than highlights, Huntley played well and helped keep the Ravens competitive when Jackson missed final stretches of the 2021 and 2022 seasons and even made his first career playoff start and was voted as Pro Bowl alternate in his third year in the league.

 314.
Denver Broncos: Week 9

 315.
When the Ravens host the Mile High City franchise, they could be playing against as many as four of their former players assuming 2022 sixth-round running back Tyler Badie makes the final roster. The three locks include veteran interior offensive linemen Ben Powers and Sam Mustipher. This will mark the first time Powers will be going against the team that drafted him after signing a sizable deal in free agency last year following a four-year stint in Baltimore during which he started 36-of-47 games. Mustipher spent last season as the Ravens’ backup center behind Linderbaum and will likely serve in a similar role for the Broncos.

 316.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Weeks 11 and 16

 317.
When the Ravens host and visit their division archrivals this upcoming season, they could face as many as four former players, all of whom are on defense. The most notable of the bunch is inside linebacker Patrick Queen who was taken in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of LSU. He defected to the Steel City to be the general in the middle of Pittsburgh’s defense coming off a career year in which he earned Pro Bowl and Second-Team All-Pro honors.

 318.
This will mark the second year in a row the Ravens will be playing against veteran defensive back DeShon Elliott who played for the Miami Dolphins last year before joining the Steelers this past March. He began his career in Baltimore after being selected in the sixth round of the 2018 Draft and started 22 games at safety. In his first time playing against his former team, Elliott recorded a game-high 10 total tackles including one for a loss in lopsided 56-19 loss for the visiting Dolphins in Week 17.

 319.
Assuming they both make the Steelers final roster, this will be the first time that veteran cornerback Anthony Averett and third-year outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon will be playing against the Ravens. Averett began his career as a fourth-round pick out of Alabama in 2018, made 21 starts for the team in 44 seasons and just signed with Pittsburgh after a successful tryout at their rookie minicamp. Moon went undrafted out of Florida in 2022 and has spent most of his first two seasons in the league on the Ravens’ practice squad but appeared in eight games last year including his first career start in Week 4.

 320.

 321. Los Angles Chargers: Week 12
 322.

 323.
When the Ravens travel cross country to take on the team that has informally been declared the West Coast Ravens on Monday Night Football, they will be facing five former players, all of whom play on offense. Four were on the roster at the same time in 2021 and three were key cogs in making the 2019 offense a record-shattering unit. The list includes running backs J.K. Dobbins, and Gus Edwards, fullback Ben Mason, tight end Hayden Hurst and interior offensive linemen Bradley Bozeman.

 324.
While it’ll mark the first time Dobbins, Edwards and Mason will be going up against the team they came into the league with, it will mark the fourth and second for Hurst and Bozman. As a member of the Bengals in 2022, Hurst played against the Ravens three times including the playoffs and recorded a combined 14 receptions on 18 targets for 112 receiving yards and one touchdown. Bozeman’s first time playing against the Ravens came in the same season but he was a member of the Carolina Panthers and was on the losing end of a 13-3 defensive battle in Week 11 of the regular season. Both players were members of the same historic 2018 draft class for the Ravens and reunited as teammates for the first time last year in Carolina and are doing so again with the Chargers.

 325.
New York Giants: Week 15

 326.
When the Ravens travel to MetLife Stadium to take on the G-Men in an interconference battle, they could be going against as many as four of their former players. Fifth-year veteran wide receiver Miles Boykin and versatile seven-year veteran offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor joined the team this offseason. Meanwhile, Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller was traded there last offseason but is contemplating retirement and Pro Bowl kicker Graham Gano has been there the past four years.

 327.
Boykin was drafted in the third round out of Notre Dame and spent the first three years of his career with the Ravens, appearing in 40 games, making 24 starts and recording seven touchdowns. Eluemunor was selected in the fifth round of the 2017 Draft out of Texas A&M and spent the first two years of his career developing in Baltimore and is now a solid starting caliber guard or tackle on his fourth team. In his first two games playing against the Ravens, he played just four special teams snaps in each but none on offense but he got to play 69 snaps in the season opener 2021 and helped the Raiders beat the Ravens in overtime. Waller, who was also on that Raiders team, was a sixth-round pick out of Georgia Tech in 2015. Gano got his first shot as a pro with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State and is now on his third team.

 328.
Houston Texans: Week 17

 329.
When the Ravens travel to the Lone Star state for the second time during the 2024 season to play on Christmas for the second year in a row, it will be their first time going against inside linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips since he departed in free agency this offseason. Originally an undrafted free agent who signed with the Atlanta Falcons coming out of Illinois, the five-year veteran spent the past two seasons in Baltimore as a core special teams ace and providing quality depth behind starters Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen.

 348.
 349.
Assessing which part of the upcoming season could be the most challenging for the reigning AFC North champions.

When looking back at the Baltimore Ravens 2023 schedule, one would’ve pointed to their final four games as clearly the most challenging stretch on paper. However, they had already begun hitting their stride by that time and tore through some of the top contending teams in the league heading into the playoffs.

 350.
In a trio of consecutive weeks, they faced the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins all of whom were leading their respective divisions at the time they squared off. Each of them got dismantled on both sides of the ball and it proved to be the defining stretch of the season that cemented the Ravens and the best team in the league far and away heading into the postseason.

 351.
When assessing which stretch of five games could prove to be the Ravens’ crucible in 2024 now that the schedule has been released, it’s hard to discern between their opening slate or the closing slate.

 352.
Weeks 1 - 5

 353.
In their first five games, the Ravens take on the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on the road in a rematch of last year’s AFC championship to christen the season. After a Week 2 home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders in which they’ll be favored to come out on top, it is back on the road for a Week 3 interconference matchup with reigning NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys in the late FOX window under a semi-national spotlight.

 354.
Upon their return home, they will host the reigning AFC East champion Buffalo Bills in primetime on Sunday Night Football in Week 4. The following week, they will be back on the road to play their first AFC North divisional game against the Cincinnati Bengals who will be itching to prove their legitimacy as contenders after a down year in 2023.

 355.
Three of their first five opponents were playoff teams last year and were a combined 51-34 with a winning percentage of .666. What makes the Ravens’ first slate of five games arguably more daunting than the last is that they’ll play a gauntlet of top 10 quarterbacks who are regularly in the MVP conversation in four of those contests including Patrick Mahomes, Dak Prescott, Josh Allen and Joe Burrow.

 356.
Weeks 13 - 18

 357.
In their last five games, the Ravens will start off the final stretch with an interconference bout with the revamped Philadelphia Eagles at home in what could be a potential Super Bowl preview in Week 13 in the late CBS window. Following a short road trip up to MetLife Stadium in Week 14 to take on the New York Giants in an afternoon game, they return home to host the Pittsburgh Steelers for the second time in the late afternoon game on the Saturday before Christmas.

 358.
In the final two weeks of the regular season, the Ravens will be traveling on Christmas for the second year in a row except this time it won’t be an interconference clash of titans but a stand-alone afternoon matchup with the defending AFC South champion Houston Texans in a game which could hold massive playoff seeded implications. They will host the close the year out with their regular season finale at home against the Cleveland Browns in a game that could decide the winner of the division if both teams are on equal footing at this point.

 359.
Four of their last five opponents were playoff teams last year and were a combined 48-37 with a winning percentage of .840. What makes the Ravens’ last slate of five games arguably more daunting than the first is how unpredictable divisional games can be especially with playoff spots on the line and three of their five opponents are among the most improved teams through the offseason thus far in the Steelers, Eagles and Texans.

 360.
Which stretch do you think will be the toughest for the Ravens in 2024? The first, the last or somewhere in between.

Offsetting those departures is the fact that their secondary and linebacker rooms still have stars, so instead we look at their free-agent addition of Derrick Henry as a big plus.

 386.
They had a fairly large offensive line need, as Morgan Moses, Kevin Zeitler and John Simpson are now playing elsewhere, but the addition of Roger Rosengarten via the draft somewhat mitigates that.

 387.
I ultimately loved the Ravens’ draft, so outside of some other offensive line question marks, it’s hard to hate on their offseason.

 388.

 389.
Quarterback questions for 32 NFL teams: Contracts, QB1 races

 393.
What does the addition of Derrick Henry mean for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens’ offense?

 394.
Since Jackson was drafted in 2018, the Ravens have more rushing attempts (3,282) and rushing yards (16,668) than any other team in the league — by a lot. The team that ranks second in both of those categories over the past six years is the Titans, whose lead running back during that time has been the powerful Henry. The Ravens signed Henry in free agency this offseason after years of trouble keeping running backs healthy. Forced into a committee year after year due to injuries, the Ravens hope Henry can be at least some facsimile of the historically dominant back he was in Tennessee.

 395.
It’s hard to imagine the Ravens running the ball more than they already were just because Henry is there. But perhaps, if he stays healthy, he can relieve Jackson of some of the run game burden. That’s especially true near the goal line, where Henry should give opponents a lot more to think about.

 396.

 397.
Ravens 2024 schedule: 5 prime-time games, including ‘Monday Night Football’ showdown between Harbaugh brothers

 398.
Brian Wacker, The Baltimore Sun

 399.

 400.
Baltimore will play five nationally televised night games — tied for the most in franchise history — over the first dozen weeks of the 2024 NFL season, including against the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of last season’s AFC championship game to kick off the NFL season Sept. 5 on “Thursday Night Football” at Arrowhead Stadium.

 401.
Baltimore will also travel to Houston for a 4:30 p.m. Christmas blockbuster against the Texans and their star quarterback, 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year C.J. Stroud, in a rematch of an AFC divisional round playoff matchup last season. It marks the second straight year the Ravens will play on the holiday after last year’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California.

 402.
Other games under the lights include a Week 4 “Sunday Night Football” showdown against the Buffalo Bills and quarterback Josh Allen at M&T Bank Stadium; a Week 7 “Monday Night Football” tilt against the defending NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium; a Week 10 “Thursday Night Football” matchup at home against the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals; and a Week 12 Monday night meeting in Inglewood, California, that pits Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh against his younger brother John, who is in his first year as coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

 403.

 404.
Takeaways From Ravens’ 2024 Schedule

 405.

 406. Ryan Mink, BaltimoreRavens.com
 407.

 408.

 409.
The AFC North won’t be settled for a while.

 410.
The Ravens don’t play their first AFC North game until Week 5 (in Cincinnati) and only have one in the first seven weeks.

 411.
This is a dramatic departure from last season, when Baltimore had three divisional games (all on the road) in the first five weeks. That series of games put the Ravens in the driver’s seat of the AFC North.

 412.
The Ravens finish with five divisional games over their final 10, including a stretch from Weeks 8-11 when they play each of their AFC North foes.

 413.
Jump out in front or rebound in the second quarter.

 414.
It’s been known for months that the Ravens have the second-most-difficult schedule in the league based on their opponents’ win percentage from last season.

 415.
We already knew the Ravens would have a great test with an AFC Championship rematch against the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs to kick off the season. Beyond that, the Ravens’ first five games will set the tone for the season.

 416.
The Chiefs, Raiders, Cowboys, Bills, and Bengals were a combined 51-34 last year and all (except the Raiders) are expected to contend for a conference title in 2024. If the Ravens come out of the gates hot, they can take pole position in the AFC. If they don’t, they’ll need a strong rebound in quarter two.

 417.
There aren’t any “soft” spots in the Ravens’ schedule, but the lightest is from Weeks 6-9 when the Ravens play the Commanders, Buccaneers, Browns, and Broncos, who had a combined record of 32-36 last season. It’s essentially the second quarter of the schedule if broken into four chunks.

 418.

 419.
NFL schedule: Each AFC team’s win total projection for 2024 season

 422.

 423.

 424.
Baltimore Ravens

 425.
Wins 10.2

 426.
WILD CARD

 427.
Win Total: under 11.0 (-115)

 428.
Make Playoffs: -320

 429.
Win Division: +125

 430.
Win Conference: +480

 431.
Win Super Bowl: +900

 432.
The Ravens’ schedule slides them under the Bengals in terms of median win projection and renders them a more probable wild-card team than division winner. (Again, it’s May, so let’s all take a deep breath.) The AFC North currently projects as the most difficult division in the NFL, which is not shocking, but makes for a lot of potential internal disruption among these four teams. For fun, I modeled out which game on Baltimore’s schedule forecasts to be the most pivotal, and, as of right now, it looks like the outcome of Ravens-Eagles in Week 13, just ahead of Baltimore’s bye, is the one most likely to determine the Ravens’ playoff picture.

 452.
 453.
What the Beatdown staff think of the Ravens’ 2024 regular season schedule

The Baltimore Ravens 2024 regular season schedule has been announced. Below are the Beatdown staff reactions to the exciting news.

 454.

 455.
The NFL wants to showcase two-time MVP Lamar Jackson and the reigning AFC North champions. But, not in Baltimore. Of the Ravens five primetime games, two are home games (W4 - Bills; W10 - Bengals).

 456.
At no point does the schedule really let up. It’s hard to start, it remains difficult and ends with more challenges. That’s what happens when you’re No. 1.

 457.
The good news is they’re never on a brutal travel schedule. It’s a methodical away, home, away pattern. And when they leave for two straight games, they stay at home for the next two afterward.

 458.
A late-season bye week is almost always the dream for a team with Super Bowl ambitions. Thought, it would’ve been nice to face an AFC or even AFC North opponent coming off the bye week to gain a bit extra preparation, rather than it being the New York Giants.

 459.
Final note: Christmas road game in back-to-back years is garbage. Hate that for the players, the staff and all those who have to leave their loved ones on a WEDNESDAY. — Kyle Phoenix

 460.

 461.
The first feature of the schedule that stands out is the Week 14 bye week, the late placement should benefit a club focused on improving their unimpressive playoff record (since 2012). A home Thursday night contest against the division rival Bengals should also be viewed as a blessing, hosting teams have a clear advantage on short weeks. Notably, the Lamar Jackson led Ravens have been chosen as one of the league’s marquee teams with at least five primetime matchups and six standalone games. In fact, only seven of the 17 clashes are scheduled to kickoff at the traditional 1pm eastern timeslot. All-in-all this is a fair schedule for the 2023 AFC runner-up, with no three-plus game road trips and showdowns against expected contenders evenly dispersed for the most part. It will be up to John Harbaugh and his coaching staff to use this fine regular season schedule as an iron-sharpening tool for the team before the real test of the postseason begins. — Vasilis Lericos

 462.

 463.
The NFL clearly wants a lot of eyes on two-time league MVP Lamar Jackson the Ravens early and often. They not only have the maximum allotment of five primetime games with flex scheduling still a possibility in Week 18 for a sixth but they are also going to have four late window and stand-alone games as well. Having to wait until Week 14 for a break and action is going to be brutal especially if injuries inevitably begin to pile up. This could be a bigger concern compared to last year because until proven otherwise, this year’s team likely won’t be as deep as it was in 2023 but then again, the roster is months away from being set which means there is still plenty of time for general manager Eric DeCosta to work his late summer magic. Thankfully, they don’t have a road trip of longer than two weeks and at least they get Thanksgiving off although it sucks for their families that they’re playing a Christmas road game for the second year in a row against a formidable opponent. — Joshua Reed

 464.

 465.
The Ravens will, for the second straight year, boast one of the more difficult schedules in the league. Although we’ve known their opponents for months, the schedule reveal provides more clarity to their path back to the playoffs. Last years schedule featured a daunting stretch over the last few weeks of the season, and while this year doesn’t look quite as difficult, there will be trials to get back to where they were last year. Four of their first five games will be against high caliber teams. The Ravens typically start hot and it will be important to come out of the first quarter of the season with a good record if they want to win the AFC North for the second straight year. — Stephen Bopst

 466.

 467.
My genuine reaction to the schedule is ‘the schedule is the schedule.’ There are some tough stretches, but the Ravens had one of the hardest schedules last year and it didn’t matter. Stay healthy, play games, win. Then let the postseason strangeness take over. If Jackson is healthy, it won’t matter who’s up or when. — Zach Canter

 491.
The Baltimore Ravens 3-game preseason schedule has been announced.

Prior to the beloved NFL Kickoff game to open the 2024 regular season, featuring the Baltimore Ravens, there’s a trio of preseason games to get through first. The schedule for all three has been announced, with the Ravens playing at home for two of them.

 492.
Baltimore Ravens 2024 Preseason Schedule

 493.
Week 1 — vs. Eagles, Friday, August 9, 7:30 p.m. ET

 494.
Week 2 — vs. Falcons, Saturday, August 17, 12 p.m. ET

 495.
Week 3 — @ Packers, Saturday, August 24, 1 p.m. ET

 496.

 497.
The Ravens will face the Eagles twice this season, both times at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. It’s worth wondering if the Ravens and Eagles will consider joint practices prior to their Week 1 preseason game.

 498.
After their third preseason game against the Packers, the Ravens will have 12 days to prepare for the Kansas City Chiefs for Week 1. This, along with the entire offseason, should give the Ravens enough time to prepare schematically and build up to the highly-anticipated season-opening rematch.
