If you genuinely want to be free, you must take these steps seriously and remain dedicated to the process.Chapter Highlights based on Finally Free: Fighting for Purity with the Power of Grace by Heath Lambert 1. Accountability  Chapter 3 Highlights: · The right kind of accountability — characterized by initiative, openness, clean conversation, maturity, and serious answerability for sin — is hard.· If you have never confessed your sin to one of the spiritual authorities in your church, you are cutting yourself off from a crucial source of spiritual help.· True accountability requires an effort to be committed in the long term.· Your accountability partner must be willing to take time through the week to pray for you, call you, answer your calls, and check up on you. The calling to be a spiritual person who restores another caught in a sin is a high and holy calling that requires time.Practical Steps- Identify a Christian in spiritual authority over you. - Talk to them about your struggle and ask if they would be willing to read Finally Free with you - Set up a regular time to meet to work through the 8 points in this guide. - Decide on the discussion point for the next meeting, and come prepared after reading the material.2.  Grace Chapter 1 Highlights: · You need to ask for forgiving grace after you look at pornography, but don’t stop there! Ask for God’s transforming grace, his power to change you from the inside out.· Stop responding by talking to yourself with condemning words and thoughts and start responding to your sin by talking to God with prayers of confession. Self-talk and self-condemnation do nothing to lay hold of God’s forgiving and transforming grace. Repentance does.Practical Steps:- Read Chapter 1 of The Discipline of Grace Paperback by Jerry Bridges (Author) – PDF available at <a href="http://harbourfellowship.com/freedom" title="">harbourfellowship.com/freedom</a> - Memorize the 3 circles – where do you see God’s forgiving grace and transforming grace in it. - Ask God for his powerful transforming grace to bring change to your life.3. Walking in the Light· Study Proverbs 28:13 using SOAPS method. Write down 10 observations and 2 applicationsChapter 5 Highlights · You will not experience dramatic change in your struggle as long as you use accountability to describe your sins instead of declaring your need for help in the midst of temptation.Practical Steps:- Are there other things to confess (masturbation, promiscuity, adultery, homosexuality, etc) - Are there past sins against you (abuse, neglect) that you need to bring into the light to begin to experience healing and help. - Identify the people your sin has affected that you need to approach with an honest confession? 4. Dead to Sin· Read Romans 6.1-14 and using SOAPS method write down 10 observations and 2 applicationsHighlights from the Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges· No, we are not defeated; we are simply disobedient! It might be good if we stopped using the terms “victory” and “defeat” to describe our progress in holiness. Rather we should use the terms “obedience” and “disobedience.” When I say I am defeated by some sin, I am unconsciously slipping out from under my responsibility. I am saying something outside of me has defeated me. But when I say I am disobedient, that places the responsibility for my sin squarely on me. We may, in fact, be defeated, but the reason we are defeated is because we have chosen to disobey. We have chosen to entertain lustful thoughts, or to harbour resentment, or to shade the truth a little.· To experience this joy, we must make some choices. We must choose to forsake sin, not only because it is defeating to us, but because it grieves the heart of God. We must choose to count on the fact that we are dead to sin, freed from its reign and dominion, and we can now actually say no to sin. We must choose to accept our responsibility to discipline our lives for obedience.Practical Steps- Read - <a href="http://easypeasymethod.org/" title="" class="" style="outline: currentcolor;">http://easypeasymethod.org/</a>- Resist any promise of a temporary fix- Get it clear in your mind: porn provides no genuine pleasure or crutch and you aren’t making a sacrifice. There’s nothing to give up and no reason to feel deprived.- Make a decision never to watch again and never question it.5. Radical Measures· Study Matthew 5:27–30. Summarize Jesus’ teaching in your own words Chapter 4 Highlights · You will need to employ radical measures in at least three areas. You look at porn when you have the desire to see it, when you have the time to look at it, and when it is available to you. Nobody looks at pornography without all three of these elements coming together.· Viewing pornography is typically the last stop on a long road of sexual sins. A dozen other things have gone wrong in your heart and mind by the time you actually look at porn. You will not have victory over pornography until you first have victory in the battles that come before you look.Practical Steps:Radical measures in your thinking. - Make a commitment to repent the moment your thoughts begin to drift toward impurity. - Identify and memorize a passage of Scripture you can begin using to fight temptation.- You must reach out for help. You are not designed to fight the battles of sin and temptation alone. Give the names of 2-3 people that you have talked to, and you can call when you are in trouble. Radical measures in your use of time. - Identify the places where you access pornography. - Identify the times when you are most tempted - Make a plan together to fill this time with activities that will move you toward purity. Radical Measures for Cutting Off Access - Install accountability software on your computer and/or phone.- Allow someone to put passwords on your computer and phone- Give someone administrative privileges6. Dynamic Relationship with Jesus · Read John 15.1-16. Identify what happens when we abide and what happens when we don’t abide. Identify 6 ways that we do abide. Chapter 9 Highlights · Many Christians locked in a fight against pornography judge the closeness of their relationship with Christ by whether or not they’ve looked at porn recently. If you didn’t look at porn today, you feel alive and close to Jesus. If you did look at porn today, you feel like garbage and very distant from Christ. · The truth that God wants you to know is that your relationship with Jesus is bigger than your struggle with porn. If the only time you’re interested in walking with Jesus is when you want his help to get over porn, you’re not walking in the fullness of the loving relationship that Jesus wants to have with you.Practical Steps:- Learn and Draw the abiding study- Set Goals for how you will Connect with God - Bible Study- Prayer- Going Additional Study - Chapter 7 and 8 on Humility and Gratitude 7. Godly Sorrow· Study 2 Corinthians 7:8 –11. What are the two types of sorrow given? Describe each one.Chapter 2 Highlights · Worldly sorrow happens when you feel the sting of sin but still cherish a selfish love of sin in your heart. Godly sorrow happens when you are gripped by your sinful separation from God and desire to be restored to him at any cost.Practical Steps:- Write down the real reasons for your sadness.- Spend some time in honest reflection, asking whether you have been sorrowful in your struggle with pornography. Is your sadness over the consequences of being caught or over the break in your relationship with God? - Be aware that if you’ve had an ongoing struggle with pornography, your sorrow is likely worldly. 8. Your Spouse· Read Proverbs 5 and using SOAPS method write down 10 observations and 2 applicationsChapter — Highlights · God wants you to quit thinking about porn and start thinking about your wife.· For singles, if you are experiencing God-given sexual desires, a consideration should be to pursue marriage to a godly woman in a wise and careful way.Practical Steps:- How have you been guilty of being drawn to the temptations of the forbidden woman in Proverbs 5? <h4 class="wp-block-heading">Colossians- All Church Study 2019</h4>
It is so easy for us to shift our eyes off Jesus and onto what life presents before us. We may even lose sight of what Jesus has done for us, or may unintentionally modify the gospel.
Starting in January, we as a church will embark on a study through the powerful little letter of Colossians. In it, the apostle Paul, highlights the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus. He causes us to see that ‘He is Greater.’
In this study, we will fix our eyes upon all that Christ has done for us, allowing it to influence our thoughts, behaviours, life and relationships. Our prayer is that we as a church, every day, would set our heart on things above. That Jesus would be the lens by which we view life.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[In November 2017 God gave Harbour the privilege of being a community partner for a new Canadian Family. This family came to Canada under a 2 year government sponsorship and so Harbour carried no financial responsibility. The family is from Eritrea and were refugees in Ethiopia. They are from the Afar Tribe. You can learn more about the <a href="https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/11486">Afar tribe</a> here. A strong team from Harbour engaged with them, built relationships and connected them with services throughout Niagara. This ministry has been a great blessing and encouragement to each team member involved.
In mid-October 2018 two new Afar Families also made their way to Canada. They were placed by the Canadian government in Saskatchewan and Newfoundland. Because, there are very few, if any, Afar people in these places, these newcomers wanted to move to Ontario and through connections back in Ethiopia were in touch with the family that Harbour is connected with.
The settlement agencies in Saskatchewan and Newfoundland also had brief contact with Harbour where we encouraged, that if a transition to Niagara was going to be made, that it take place slowly. However, we received word on Monday Oct 22 that both families were being sent here and would arrive in Toronto on Wednesday Oct 24. The Toronto Afar community provided transportation to Niagara.
Harbour is not the community partner for these families but there is urgent need to provide help in some initial settlement matters. One family is a Mom with 3 children and the other a Mom with 4 children.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[On Sunday August 19 we received a letter of resignation from Timo Stubchen, Youth Ministry Intern. 
His letter follows below: 
Dear Harbour 
It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this but I pray and hope you understand. I want to ask that you as a church would allow me to end my internship early. I still have plenty to learn but I would like to take this upcoming year to continue to grow and mature inwardly on things. 
But I would remiss if I didn’t say “thank you!” Thank you for the year you spent getting to know me. Thank you for inviting me over for meals, or talking with me over coffee. Thank you to those of you who treated me like family, and to those who taught me lessons along the way. Thank you to the Youth who welcomed me into their group! You guys were a blast! 
Harbour, you have all meant so much to me as a church family and I will keep you in my prayers as I hope you will do the same. May God bless you abundantly in the years to come.

Thank you for extending your love and encouragement toward Timo. His last day with us will be this Sunday August 26. 
As we look toward the fall, our Junior High Ministry will be moving to Tuesday nights. Having Junior High and Senior High on the same night is a strategic decision which we believe will enable us to better disciple young people. We will provide a further leadership and Tuesday night update next week through Harbour Happenings and parent emails.

Before we know it, the days will get longer, and the sun will shine a little more. Already the pace is starting to pick up in our Children’s Ministry department. We are busy planning our summer camps!
As many of you know, Harbour has run summer camps for kids and youth the past 3 years. These camps have been an amazing way to reach out to our community and share the gospel message with hundreds of kids. Registration is now open for this year’s camps, and spots are filling up! Our camps haven’t just been about the kids though. They have also been a great way to invest and mentor some of our youth and young adults. The past 2 years, Harbour has applied for, and received the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. This government grant provides wage subsidies to employers to create valuable summer work opportunities for students. Receiving this grant meant that we were able to hire 2 students in 2016, and 3 students in 2017. These students worked alongside us for 8 weeks each summer.
I cannot tell you all of the great things these students accomplished because the list is too long, but I can highlight a few:
Having the students here was absolutely the key to not only running our camps, but actually growing the program in numbers and quality. These students worked so hard to make sure that every child could be ministered to.
They helped to organize our Manchester kids program ensuring volunteers were scheduled and details were taken care of. They also went on a mission trip to Quebec last year as part of our Lead Out vision.
Discipleship happened! 8 weeks is a lot of time to spend in one office together! One of my favourite times with our students was during our morning devotion time. Before we would begin working, we read through a chapter of Acts, and reflected on it together. Hearing their insights and questions was always such an encouragement. They were growing in their faith!
Of course, I was looking forward to filling out our grant application again this year! Unfortunately, things have changed. Funding was conditional on our support of an attestation inconsistent with a Biblical view. We just couldn’t agree with this statement, and therefore will not be receiving the grant.
It’s a disappointing situation, but it forced us to pray, and to ask God, what will we do now? How will we respond to this?
We feel that God is turning this disappointing situation into an opportunity. God is not calling us to make our programs smaller, in fact, we feel that He is asking us to expand, and continue to find ways to invest in our youth! This is what spurred the idea of the 412 youth mentorship program that I announced a few weeks ago. We will have more details in the coming weeks on that program.
It has also confirmed that this year, we should hire a Summer Camps Program Director. This person will be focused on planning, organizing and assisting with our summer camps. This is a huge step in faith for us, as we did not anticipate having to add a new staff member to our budget, but we feel it is necessary to continue our high quality camps!
Our Summer Camps Program Director will be on staff for seven weeks from June 11- July 27. This person should be creative, love children, and be ready to grow their faith this summer. A more detailed job description will be posted on our website this week. If you are interested, or know someone who may be, email your resume to me by May 14.
I am excited for this summer, and all that God has in store for us. God is stretching our faith, and calling us to respond. Harbour has had many of these moments over the years. Moments where we knew God was asking, and stepped out even when we weren’t sure of what the outcome would be. In the past few years alone He has asked us to plant and church, move into the Greenvale and Manchester communities and support an Eritrean family. When we look back on those times, we see how God moved in those moments. He opened doors, and closed some too, but He always met the needs. We have a caring heavenly Father who provides for all of our needs. how amazing is that? I am really looking forward to seeing how God provides for Harbour this summer.

2 camping tents (4 to 8 man) 
5 Lightweight Compact Sleeping Bags. 
Any Smart Phone – any brand 
Any working Tablet 
Any working Laptop 
Soccer Balls (must be tough!!!!)
