Many students hold part-time jobs while they are in college. For some, the part-time job is a financial necessity. For others, their job is an opportunity to gain some career-related work experience. In both cases, students should understand that these early opportunities can lead to full-time jobs.Employers that hire part-time employees also hire full-time employees. Therefore, students with part-time jobs should keep several facts in mind:1. Part-time jobs offer students the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, work ethic and problem-solving skills. Since every employer wants to learn about these things, part-time jobs give students the opportunity to demonstrate their strongest jobs skills and impress their employer.2. If the part-time job is with an employer in a student’s field of interest, the employer is evaluating their performance and potential for a full-time job. Students who do their best to impress the employer will greatly enhance their chances for a job offer when they graduate.3. Part-time employment can offer students the opportunity to to develop and practice the skills required for similar jobs. Most employers would prefer to hire candidates who have previously demonstrated the skills and ability to perform the job.4. Nearly every job can benefit from a bit of creativity. Part-time jobs provide opportunities to show a student’s creative side. Employers love students who can demonstrate some creativity. As students go to work each day, they can show the boss that they can overcome obstacles on their own and get things done by using their creativity.5. Part-time employment gives students the opportunity to build and add to their list of accomplishments, successes and positive results. Grades are important. However, employers hire students who clearly present their achievements on their resumés and during interviews. They are particularly impressed by on-the-job achievements.6. Positive and enthusiastic references from part-time jobs can help someone land a full-time job. When students do a bang up job for the employer and are well-liked, it is highly likely that the employer will happily give them a glowing reference and recommendation. That will make them stand out from most other candidates.7. PT jobs provide students with opportunities to learn about the business. Many executives started at the bottom, learned the business, demonstrated their interest and capabilities and then went on to greater and greater responsibility within the organization. Students today can do the same thing.Part-time jobs tend to be what you make of them. Therefore, wise students settle into a job that can benefit them in more than one way. They work hard, do whatever is required, build relationships, present a positive attitude and go the extra mile when called upon. When students show employers that they appreciate their jobs and want their employers to be more successful, many employers will respond with job offers for full-time positions.

Now listen, before you read this it’s important to understand that I personally am not a fan of having a job or being an employee….never have been.At nearly every job I’ve ever had, I spent most of my time and energy figuring out how I could get more of what was important to me done rather than what I should have been doing as part of my daily duties. When I was really young, that was sleep. I was always out late partying so I would devise a plan to get at least an hour or maybe even two of nap time in at work.As I got older and began leveraging the only 2 talents I ever had (selling and writing) the days that were supposed to spent getting projects done were spent writing sales copy for Internet marketers until of course I got to the point where I didn’t need a job anymore. My point is this. I’ve never liked working for someone else. But that’s just me and it’s really a whole other topic which I’ll write about at some other time. The reason why I decided to publish this is because I realize that for many people, jobs are very important and valuable. Now even though I was always a lousy employee, I did manage to land a job almost every single time I went on an interview. So I figured I’d share the things that I did that I know for a fact will dramatically increase your odds of getting a job; so here we go.1.) Search online using a trusted site like Monster or Career Builder but NEVER apply through them. Instead, search for a contact e-mail address and send a personal e-mail. If that’s not an option, pick up the phone and ask to speak to the head of HR. Applying through these websites consists of filling out a form that will be sent to the same contact person only it will be sent with everyone else who applied; meaning you’re just another number. Part of getting what you want is beating the odds and separating yourself from the rest.2.) Don’t let the application scare you. If you come across an application which states that the job has requirements (availability times, work experience, etc.) that you don’t think you can fill, apply and go on the interview anyway. Everything is negotiable and subject to change….or at least there’s a chance that it is. I can’t tell you how many times I saw a requirement on an application that I knew I couldn’t pull off but I either charmed the pants of the person interviewing me, made them bend or I figured it out once I got the job.3.) Google the company and find out as much info as humanly possible before the interview. Check out the link that says corporate structure or investor relations if they have one and find out the names of the officers in the company. If they are a public company, read the statements of the COO, CEO, President or Chairman when they reported their last quarter earnings. You can also check out their mission statement but hearing what an officer in the company has to say will give you a better indication of what direction they plan moving in the near future. Be sure to make it clear that you are onboard and in alignment with the company’s vision and objectives.4.) Google the name of the person that is interviewing you. Check out their company profile or Facebook page (if applicable) and find out exactly who you’re going to be dealing with. See what their interests are, how long they’ve been with the company, if they have children, where they live, what sports teams they like, etc. These are all things you can use to create rapport with them during the interview.5.) This one is just for guys. Since I’m not a woman, I can’t really make any suggestions on this topic without sounding sexist. Buy a new suit or borrow one if you don’t have one. It makes all the difference. Navy blue is your best bet because it’s pretty versatile. You can wear it on an interview, to a meeting, a wedding and even funeral (if you really had to). Wear a white shirt and shoot for a tie that has a little bit of red in it somewhere. Statistics show that this color combination makes people appear more credible in the eyes of others than any other. Make sure your shirt fits you and that the color is not too lose or the sleeves are too long. Little inconsistencies like this make you appear as though you don’t pay attention to detail. Always wear a pair of shoes that are in good condition (even if they are cheap).6.) Give yourself enough time to get there plus an hour. Invest the few minutes you have (because you arrived early) in getting to know the receptionist and/or anyone else that may be at the front desk. If you’re able to connect with them on some level, they’ll tell the person that you’re interviewing that they like you when that person shows you to the door. Social validation is always great. If you wind up getting there too, too early, go get a cup of coffee or feed the pigeons. NEVER under any circumstances, take the slightest risk of being late. Things happen……trains get stuck, buses stall, traffic jams up….at the end of the day no one cares. You’ll always be remembered as the person who showed up late for an interview.7.) Give a firm handshake and do not sit until the other person does. Once the process begins, always look in their eyes and never shy away. This sends a message that you are both confident and truthful.8.) Make sure you know your resume inside out and be prepared to answer questions about it like why your average time length at each job was less than 2 years for example. Be prepared also to present your case in 5 different ways. Chances are the person interviewing you falls into one of five categories when it comes to the way they make decisions. Click here learn about them.9.) Ask them how they got to be where they are in the company. People love to hear themselves talk. The more they share with you, the greater your odds of being liked. Every time someone shares something about themselves with you, they subconsciously become vested in thinking you are trustworthy, genuine and someone they would like to have more dialogue with.10.) Send an e-mail within 2 hours after the interview has finished thanking the person for their time and stating that you look forward to coming onboard. Waiting any longer gets risky because that one e-mail could strike the final cord needed for you to get the job but if someone else – who interviews better – gets there before you send your e-mail, you could be in trouble. This list is by no means the end to all when it comes to getting a job and I left out most of the stuff that in my opinion is just common sense like having references available or being able to articulate how you perform certain job related tasks. This was more or less stuff that you may not have necessarily given a second thought to.

Experts agree (which is a rare thing) that jobs in the medical field are set to explode over the next 2 to 7 years and should continue in a good growth pattern for as much as the next two decades. This is absolutely huge news if you’re looking to get into a medical career such as Nurse, Surgeon, Chiropractor, General Practice Medical Doctor or any of the other niches that jobs in the medical field offer. The thing to really understand is what’s driving this huge swell of opportunity right now. If you’re looking at a medical career choice then you would obviously like to know what it is that’s impacting your potential livelihood. What is it that’s causing this massive job shift in the U.S.?Well, it’s the same thing that’s causing all the health care debate and got the Government all in a tizzy with what to do about it and how to pay for it.The answer is the Baby Boomers are retiring! The Baby Boomers were and are the single largest population boom to ever hit out country hence the name Baby ‘Boomers’. When they were being born it was a fantastic time to be selling diapers, strollers, car seats and anything else associated with infants. When they started school we had to build more schools at a frantic pace. When they started to drive they fueled the American obsession with cars like Corvette, 1957 Chevy’s, Muscle cars and more. When they entered the workplace we went through an amazing economic growth from all of their incomes being spent. The housing market was bursting at the seams because they were starting families and settling down. Now as that generation that exploded onto the scene begins to retire it will create massive opportunity for nearly all jobs in the medical field and a huge headache for congress to figure out how to cover all of them. This is precisely what’s causing all the challenges with the healthcare debates. There are literally too many Baby Boomers that will need medical care as they retire and age to pay for it with current medical spending practices. However, this is what also gives you your amazing opportunity. It’s super easy to see that since they will create a huge swell in medical service needs that there will be a huge swell in medical personal needs to accommodate them and that’s precisely where you come in.The hiring for jobs in the medical fields has already begun to climb, but that only a fraction of what is expected over the next 2 to 7 years with continued growth and steady hiring over the next 20 plus years.Getting into this exploding career now is a great way to ensure that you’ll have unreal job security while many other American economic sectors slide and continue to lay people off. You’ll end up with a long career and great retirement when retirement for many will just become a dream that they never realize. Are Jobs In The Medical Field exploding? Yes they are and it’s a trend that’s not going to slow down anytime soon.

Have you heard about the channel management software before? It is software that will help you, whether you are looking for the hotel distribution or the revenue management. The market gets flooded with channel management software and they all look pretty awesome in use. It’s really hard to pick one out of those amazing software systems. There are a few things that you have to check before buying channel management software.I have listed some important features that you should check in channel management software to make sure that you are buying the right one.The most important thing that you have to check is the number of channels in the software. The software has capability to manage a significant number of channels at a time. If you don’t find the satisfying number of channels, then move on to the next software. It is not possible to find software that can let you manage all of its channels, as there are many factors involved in between. The companies are using a single software system to manage their business, that’s spread all across the globe, so it is next to impossible to manage all the channels at once. However, you can manage the channels separately. You must check whether the channel management software is capable of managing the multiple channels at a time or not. Many software manages multiple channels, but that doesn’t imply that they can manage multiple channels simultaneously. So, checking this thing in advance is always beneficial. The other important thing that you will want to have in your channel management software comes with an extra channel if you want to expand your business. With that extra channel, you will be able to expand your business in a great fashion. The time consumed to add the extra channel is not mentioned in the user manual of the software, but you can easily add it without any issues. The channel management software that you are about to buy has capability to connect to the third parties and should also be able to make an XML connection to avoid unnecessary complications during the process. You should also check whether the software you have selected has the ability of making use of all the entrants to push and pull the data. Your software will have all the information about the channels that manage the software except for these:

Rates

Stop sell

Closed to arrival/departure

Inventory

Minimum length of stay
Having said all these things, it’s noted down, that you will get huge benefits by using the channel management software if you are able to find the right one for your business. It is necessary to find the right software system that fulfills all your requirements. So, I have told you about all the features of good channel management software. You have to check the above-mentioned things to make sure that the product is suitable for you. Let me assure you that getting your hands on such beneficial software is certainly going to call for huge investments. However, you have to take the benefits it has to offer into the consideration to get the largest output. Many people are using this software system and they all are earning more than they have initially planned. You will not regret your decision of spending your hard-earned money on the channel management software, but make sure that you get the right one.

So, everyone’s making money trading options and you too are eager to make the move from good old boring stocks trading to options trading. That’s good, but how do you get started in options trading? What are the steps of learning to go through before you can trade options effectively?Step 1: Options EducationOptions are extremely complex derivative trading instruments and trading options isn’t as simple as buying low and selling high. In fact, there isn’t just one kind of option and there isn’t just one option for each stock! There can be as many as hundreds of options available for trading on a single stock and all of them behaves differently and at a different rate in response to changes in the price of the underlying stock. All of these characteristics make learning about what options are the first steps in trading options. A lot of beginners make the mistake of starting their options education by randomly buying a few options to see how they behave. That usually leads to more questions about why those options behave the way they do and the inevitable loss also affects trading confidence right from the start. Inevitably, beginners starting out this way would have to come back to the education part. There are a lot of websites that give good in-depth explanation on how options work for free.Education for options trading must also include a comprehensive education in technical analysis as the full benefits of options trading can only be obtained from accurate trend analysis and market timing.Step 2: Paper TradingAfter you have obtained a comprehensive understanding of how options work it is now time to put your knowledge to the test. No, this is not when you should simply fund an options account and start trading with real money. Most reputable online options accounts offer a function known as “virtual trading”. This is a function which allows you to practice options trading using real prices with identical trading interface but using fake money rather than real ones. Virtual trading, or paper trading, is the most important step in verifying your options trading knowledge before you do it for real. Very often, beginners will find the confidence they build up in the education phase fizzle out really quickly in virtual trading as they see the fallacies of their methods and perhaps even find holes in their options knowledge which requires more education to patch up. Those options beginners who went ahead with real trading following their theoretical options education usually end up losing all their money and quitting options trading altogether. This is why paper trading is such an important step in the overall options learning process. In fact, it is recommended that the virtual trading phase be at least 6 months to ensure you are not missing anything. It is like practicing in the baby pool after learning the swimming strokes on land.Step 3: Single Contract Real TradingAfter you have mustered enough confidence through an extended options virtual trading practice, it is time to take your knowledge and experience into the real money options trading world. However, it is not yet time for you to start trading your entire savings or retirement account full force. This is time for you to practice using real money trading only one contract at a time. Single contract real options trading training allows you to experience the real emotional stress of trading real money and also allows you to get familiarized with using real money interface while risking only a small, limited amount of money. Such single contract real options trading practice is critical due to the fact that most beginners make their first losses through execution mistakes such as clicking on a wrong link, using a wrong order or placing an advanced order wrongly. Such unnecessary losses can be significant if a lot of money is committed right from the start and its impact on trading confidence cannot be undermined. Trading only single options contracts may be inefficient in terms of commissions for some options brokers but it allows such mistakes to be made with relatively low level of pain on your capital. As such, it is recommended for a beginner options trader at this stage to keep trading only single contract until no more executional mistakes are made moving on to the next step.Step 4: All Out Options TradingAll out trading is when you are truly ready to make options trading a true source of additional income or income replacement. This is when you will commit significant amounts of money in order to produce a meaningful profit trading options. However, coming out of single contract real trading, one should not immediately commit all the money one can muster all at once. Emotional stress increases as capital involved increases. Indeed, an options trader who can handle trading thousands of dollars may not have the emotional strength to handle trading hundreds of thousands and such a surge in emotional stress usually lead to dire consequences. It is again just like learning to swim; you don’t jump straight into the deepest end by rather move deeper gradually as your confidence and competence increases. As such, one should trade options with more and more money only as one’s trading confidence and competence increases.Indeed, learning to trade options effectively without damaging one’s trading confidence along the way is the only way to ensure long term success in options trading. This is why adhering to the steps in learning to trade options are so important.

Many small business fear expansion right now, they fear hiring additional employees, and they are completely worried about the future. Should they be? We know that community banks are worried and there are not a lot of small business loans going on right now. Indeed, as a former franchisor before retirement it is my contention that I wouldn’t pour money into a small business right now, much less touch it with a ten-foot pole. Let me explain; Why would you want to start a business where you had to hire people with all the new Obama administration rules, and this latest AFO-CIO appointment to the Department of Labor is scary too, it’s going to be really tough on small businesses. Not long ago, I was explaining all this to an acquaintance who was buying an existing business and considering the hiring of a employees to help her in her business and she asked me; “tell me more. My guess is that I would have a couple part-time women.”So should my acquaintance start her business and hire two part-time employees? Don’t know, no one knows what was in that darn Health Care bill, small business doesn’t know, information flow sucks, the Administration hasn’t said, it’s all vague and NO Small Business Person in their right mind would risk going into business right now knowing they’d hire employees. The President got on TV and made some vague inane speech about how this would help small businesses? No details, none forthcoming, terrible communication job. Terrible – and quite frankly it’s completely and absolutely un-acceptable.This group of leaders doesn’t know what the heck they are doing. We need a better team, and some common sense behind it. These people have never had to make a payroll in their lives, it ought to be a pre-requisite for public office, how on Earth can anyone believe they can run things without working knowledge of the realities of running a business? Now then, I was reading in some trade journals in various industries all the phase-ins for health care insurance law compliance, it’s a mess.Worse, it’s going to be an absolute hardship on small business, and medical costs are still rising, and rising, and rising. Over the last decade these costs have outpaced inflation by 10:1 and they just keep going? Hard to say what fuel they are using but we need that for the Space Shuttle – seriously folks, this is a disaster for the business community, and it isn’t going to help anyone, only raise costs. And people wonder why jobs are not returning? 75% – plus of our jobs are through small business in America, but the politicians are too busy coddling lobbyists of large corporations to even worry about it. It’s all a show, it’s all BS, and until things change, I’d be leery of the unknown or future business risk taking. So, you asked me to tell you more? There you have it. Am I the only person in this whole country that gets it? What the hell are they doing? The Small Business Administration director hasn’t a clue. My god, this dog and pony show never stops, WTH is going on. And the media hasn’t helped, what small businesses are supposed to go pay an attorney and accountant to tell them the new law changes? Sure, pay the professional parasites to tell you about the “new rules” I mean, do these legislators (all lawyers) even hear themselves think? And as the economy expands and gets back to normal, which jobs come back first? Legal jobs of course, what a totally screwed up system. So, the business people have to pay lawyers, accountants just to prepare for the law changes, scared out of their wits they might make a mistake and the big bad government is going to fine them, jail them, put them out of business? How do I know this is how it goes? Because I set up 187 franchises serving some 450 cities, I know exactly how small business works and how business people think. Meanwhile, we have a perceived “small business hater” president who never explained the comments about his “joe the plumber” gaf, and although it was blown out of proportion. That indeed, was a definite psychological hit to small business, one we still haven’t gotten over and we must to insure small business confidence, if we truly want those jobs – I am beginning to think they don’t by the actions of the Obama Administration, but don’t doesn’t understand and Obama’s PR team there is unfortunately too “unwise” to understand, so they laugh it off, and ramrod some BS health care legislation with a 2800 page health care bill, and then Pelosi is on prime time TV and says; “Well, you’ll just have to vote for it to see what’s in the bill.” You have to be kidding me?Why should small businesses have to contact a lawyer to explain the health care rules? And may I ask with what money are they supposed to pay the $2,000 bill to set it up properly so they don’t get fined? Small businesses have been battling this recession for 35-months now, they are barely hanging on. If you own a small business and “Need the Money” well, get in line, every small business does and there is nowhere to borrow it. No one, me included, or any bank would be foolish enough to take the risk to lend money now. And no one knows what this Administration or Congress is going to do next? They are unpredictable, perceived unstoppable and willing to shove any 4,000 page bill down America’s throats. And don’t you dare argue with me, next could be Cap and Trade, and energy costs will skyrocket and you’ll be stuck in a business watching your energy costs go up 45%! How about that? Then you can expect shortages and mandatory “Energy Ultra Efficient” equipment which will be required, above your already efficient units, air-conditioning system, solar panels, computers, along with new lighting, above and beyond what you have.If you don’t you will be fined or shut down. If you cannot or do not want the presence of an attorney one will be appointed, if you want to stay in business the SBA will give you loans, GREAT borrow more money, as they destroy your business, go into more debt, is their answer, interesting, that’s the problem in the first place, the government is broke, now they want all the businesses to be as broke as they are and pay for all their mistakes in higher costs, taxes, fines, and fees. Enough already! And if you think I am blowing smoke, it could easily happen in the next six to 18-months, and I wouldn’t put anything past this Administration or Congress, they are absolutely out of control. Do you think that if your energy costs tripled in your business you could keep your prices at the current level? Of course not, and if you double your prices, 30% of your customers will not come back, and the others will come less often, easily taking at hit of 40-50% in revenues? Well, think it can’t happen? It did in CA when the government imposed rules, raised energy costs, had shortages then black outs, and it happened twice one decade apart. Now tack on health care costs for employees, yourself – mandatory let’s say, because I don’t know, no one does yet, can you then really make money> NO, NO YOU CAN’T. And so you work harder, lay off your employees who stop shopping – no money – and other businesses suffer because unemployment is so high. See what’s happening? Where we are headed? You want me to tell you more? Sure, I could go on for 48-hours straight, with examples in the real world of what happens when government gets a stick up their rear-ends into what is supposed to be a free market economy like the USA. End of rant, end of article. Please consider all this.

Some company logos are so widely known that they are the face of a brand worldwide. They are not the brand itself, but they are the image associated with it. When you see a company logo, the image calls up your memories and feelings about the company’s products or services. Logos are designed to make you feel your loyalty to the brand and to stimulate your desire for what the company is selling. They are an important part of a company’s brand.Branding has changed a lot, though, since the days when the logo was king and the marketing campaign was its core activity. Branding today has more moving parts, and is much more complex than it used to be.The most common branding usually consists of a core message that is developed by the company, complete with a logo image, that is wrapped in upbeat videos and then pushed out to customers and potential customers through many outlets to get them to feel good about the company and buy more of what it sells. A brand is meant to create value through desire, to differentiate your products from other products, create customer loyalty, and increase your market share.I call this the intentional external brand. It is the manufactured and idealized story of a company and its products that is aimed at an external audience. This brand advertising piece is put together like a movie, and is a well-polished, multi-faceted presentation that is a targeted hunt for minds, hearts and wallets. This is the part of a brand that still gets the most corporate attention. Companies want so much to shape their relationship with you on their terms. We will tell you who we are, how you are to feel about us and our products, and what you are to do as a result (buy more stuff!).In today’s media-besotted world, the target audience tries hard to block out the intentional brand barrage. They are overwhelmed by so much of it from so many sources, and they are savvy enough to be skeptical of its claims. They are also very sensitive to unintentional brands.Your unintentional external brand is how people outside of your organization experience your company. This part of your brand is experienced on many levels – it is reactive, rational, emotional, interactive and fluid. It is about what people buy, what they hear, how they experience you, your people and technology, and most important, it’s about how their relationship with you makes them feel emotionally. Thanks to technology and social media, this awareness of your company is always and instantly open to change. It is not anymore about a static logo symbol or a piece of text. It is the sum of how you are known in the world, and how people think and feel about you.So, your overall brand includes both your intentional external brand, which is your company’s externally focused branding story, and your unintentional brand, which is peoples’ actual everyday experiences of anything and everything to do with your company.Frontier Airlines with its low, lowest fares – their intentional brand – and the very same Frontier Airlines with some of the highest customer complaint levels in the industry – their unintentional brand.Consider McDonald’s with its intentional external brand, “I’m lovin’ it”, and its unintentional brand – a growing public belief that their food is unhealthy. You can see how the unintentional brand can overwhelm the intentional brand and cause great trouble for a company. And there’s more, as they say in sales. There is another part of your brand that is also crucial – your internal brand. The internal brand has its intentional and unintentional parts, too, and it is about how all the people inside your company (your internal customers *) experience the organization.A company’s intentional internal branding efforts are often no less intense than those aimed at potential customers. They include motivational articles, newsletters, speeches and trainings, pep talks, friendly communication policies (“My door is always open… “), awards and rewards, and upbeat visions of the past and future. This internal company storyline strives to create a happy, productive brand for company people so they will be engaged and stick around. That only works, though, if it is not at odds with the company’s unintentional internal brand. The unintentional internal brand is how your people actually experience your company. This is not to be confused with your company culture-”the way we do things and treat people around here”. But, the way you do things around there will most certainly influence how your people really feel about your company, which will coalesce over time into your unintentional internal brand.Whew. Much more complicated than a logo with a song and some text, isn’t it?Take a second look at McDonald’s in that regard. They have a problem with their intentional external brand, “I’m lovin’ it” because of beliefs about their food content, and they also have a problem with their unintentional internal brand because of high-profile disagreements with franchise owners and workers. That’s a one-two punch. When intentional and unintentional brand segments collide, very big, bad things can happen.I worked for almost a year as a consultant for a company that had some real dissonance between its well-regarded external intentional brand as a supplier of equipment and its rock-bottom internal unintentional brand as a dysfunctional place to work. The internal negative brand started dramatically affecting the quality of work on projects and increased employee turnover, which in turn caused product recalls and lost customers. Ultimately the poor internal brand damaged the company’s overall brand. So, if you want a great brand that will survive and thrive with everything the new digital and business environments can throw at you, work to improve all the parts of your brand. A shiny logo, some zippy ads and a celebrity endorsement can help, but they will not by themselves move your branding meter where you want it to be. For that to happen you must have great and consistent intentional and unintentional brands, both inside and outside of your organization.Think Apple or Southwest Airlines. They are companies that function well internally, their external branding is superb, and the buzz about them out in the world is mostly positive.*Employees, shareholders and other stakeholders are internal customers.
